Enjoyed my experience at Color Me Mine. We made a reservation for a table. Pretty loud in there on the weekend with bdays and bigger groups. Wide range of options to choose from. The colors were also nice and had many different hues. You grab colors on a plate and they have different sized paint brushes. I did wish the brushes were more precise. They do have some of the glazes in the puffy paint bottles up front for more precision. I picked a plate. Total was about $40 ($10 for the session + price of plate).
***3.5 stars overall*** I took a friend to Color Me Mine for their birthday. This location was convenient but it was really small. I am glad I made a table reservation. (You put a $10 deposit on the table that ends up going towards your final bill.) Because of the long rectangular shape of the store, the staff sit in the middle of the store, so no one greets you when you walk in. Thus, we were a little confused when we entered -- not knowing if we look for our table first or look for a ceramic piece first? Or do we check in somewhere? A greeting from the staff would have solved this. Without leaving their counter, someone briefly and hurriedly explained the process and locations of everything, and left us to begin. Even though I had done this before, it was my first time at this store and it was my friend's first painting pottery ever, and we were both lost, even after her mini tutorial. (I have been to pottery painting places where they walk you to the paint area to get you started, as an example of comparison.) Thankfully I remembered things from previous experiences that the painted ceramic tiles by the paint bottles with 3 squares symbolize what the different layers would look like after firing. (This is critical knowledge that the staff should point out to each group, so we'd understand how each layer of paint looks when dried/fired because sometimes we may want to paint 3 layers of paint, but not always. It was crucial to understand how to reference these tiles!) The paints and brushes were in one corner; the sink and paper towels were around the corner in the back of the store; and there was one main shelf of unpainted pottery choices (with a range of prices, but after adding in your $10 a person sitting fee, the final cost adds up, so be sure you like the piece you choose!) We chose to paint one large piece together rather than 2 smaller pieces. To make the look more cohesive, we chose colors within a certain range (lavenders and yellows/orange), and then we didn't look at the each other's side! It was very fun. **Some Things To Note** - Your table reservation gives you 2 hours. (We finished in that time but we also didn't do a lot of detailed work. I actually think most people would need more time than that if you choose a large ceramic or are painting details.) - The tables are pretty close together, so you don't get much privacy. We all heard each other's conversations. It was also very narrow to walk between the tables when people were painting, so it may not be a place to bring active kids who can't sit still for long periods of time. - It looks like they allow outdoor food because many were bringing their own snacks. I brought in an outside drink, which I'm glad I did because it was warm and you sit there for hours. - They do have a bathroom, if anyone is wondering. - It may take a week for them to get to your ceramic piece, glaze and fire it, but we got a text that it was ready around 4 days after painting it. It is a fun experience to paint pottery, as long as you can afford it and feel comfortable approaching the counter to ask your questions because the staff doesn't seem like they go out of their way to offer help unfortunately.
This place is so cute and so fun. They have a lot of choices to choose from and the staff is very nice and welcoming!
On a chill Saturday afternoon, my partner and I were looking for a fun activity to do, so we decided to do some pottery painting. We booked a reservation at color me mine around 3:00 PM, and after checking in with the staff we were shown our table and started right away. They had plenty of options and colors which was great, and though it was relatively busy, they let us stay a little long to finish our pieces. They told us the pieces would be ready within a week, but I actually received a text notification that they were ready just 4 days after our reservation.
I did a solo date here about month and half ago. I picked a big mug to paint my beloved Moki baby and a unicorn drinking boba. The staff is friendly. There's plenty of paint. My only gripe is the paint brushes. I picky about paint brushes as I'm a painting instructor. The smallest brushes weren't that pointy at all. I could have gone to my car to grab a brush, but I decided to just use their brushes. I made it work still with what is there. I brought my earpods and listen to some music and podcast while I zoned in to painting my creation on the mug. It was a relaxing and fun experience. There were some kids around, but I didn't mind their noises. Lol... They informed me that it'll take about a week for my mug to be ready for pick up, but within 2 days I got a text saying that it's ready. So I picked it up 3 days later, and it was beautiful! I enjoyed my experience at this Color Me Mine. It's a good date idea for couples or with a kiddo or friends. :)
Fun painting spot in Eastridge mall! I could easily spend hours at Color Me Mine. Went on a Sunday evening around 6pm and there were plenty of open tables. I painted an elephant coin bank and my friends painted a money coin bank and a bowl. Overall we had a good time! One minor note: everyone needs to turn in their items 20 minutes before closing, which we didn't realized until it was announced about 40 minutes before. This is probably standard practice but an earlier heads-up would been nice as we had to rush towards the end.
Cute idea for date night or with a group of friends! I suggest making a reservation online to ensure there's a table ready for you. They also offer occasional promotions online that are worth checking out - we went on a day where they waived the studio fee which definitely helped cut costs! They charge a $10 studio fee on top of the price of your piece and give you a 2 hr session. Cost of pieces ranged from $15+. They had everything from simple plates/cups to piggy banks, flower vases, etc. I was impressed with their selection. Since it was our first time and we don't have much creativity, we picked mugs that already had a design for easy painting. I do wish they would explain the process more. They sort of rushed through explaining the process and we were a bit confused at first. You pick out your colors and brushes, but be careful to check their color guide since the colors look different before and after glazing/firing. 2 hours went by too quickly and I wish we had more time, but we did spend the first 30 mins trying to figure out which piece to get and figuring out where everything was. It was a fun and almost therapeutic time painting. Our pieces were finished in 5 days, and they texted us to pickup the pieces. There were some surface irregularities in the glazing, so it wasn't entirely smooth. But all in all this was a great experience and I would probably come back!
Went for a friends 29th bday activity Helpful staff Organized and lots of options of things to paint and paint colors Aprons were provided and were clean Time limit was enough to do a not so complicated design but if you're going to do a super detailed choice you may feel a little rushed You pick up the items the following week Extra fee for party of 6+
I heard about this spot for awhile now but never thought to come here until a friend suggested this for a girl's hangout. We booked a party of 3 for a 5pm time slot on a Saturday. Walked in and received instructions. It took us some time to pick out our pottery because there were so many choices. Once we did, we selected our colors and started to paint away. Two hours goes by so quickly! Because this was the last time slot before they close, they didn't kick those remaining out right away. They let you finish any final touches before you leave your pottery for them to glaze. We got to pick up our pottery in about a week. Some colors came out faint, and some spots looked smeared which was supposed to have just been water spots. Overall it was a fun and therapeutic experience.
Really unhappy with how the pieces turned out. It wasn't even a fun experience because of how packed it was but I don't blame them for that because obviously there are going to be busy days. However I at least expected our items to be glazed and fired in a professional matter but they were given to us with the most horrible looking outer glaze. I'm not sure if it was a new employee doing it or what but it looks so bad and I'm really sad to receive our items looking like that after spending so much time, money, and energy on them only for them to be ruined by the glazing process.

My girlfriend and I visited Color Me Mine here not too long ago, and we had a great time! The staff are very friendly and accommodating. On a Friday I called ahead to check and see if there were any openings and was pleasantly surprised that they did! Color Me Mine Sunnyvale has a vast selection of different pieces that you can make! I chose to paint my dog and my girlfriend chose to do a vase! My recommendation would be if you're new to painting, choose something with a shape i.e. a dog, lucky cat, or garden gnome. This makes it easier and takes the stress away of creating something completely original. If you're looking to be more creative and have more time and experience, try creating something original on a simple solid piece such as a plate, mug, jewelry box, etc. Paint options here are awesome! There is a stone tablet that shows how all the colors will appear after glazing as well! The turnaround time is quite short only 1 week. (We're still waiting for ours lol) My one gripe is that the brushes here are incredibly worn out. It's hard to get good details when the brushes aren't good quality. Overall an incredibly fun experience and we look forward to seeing our pieces finished! read more

Cute place to relax & paint. Weekends are busy, so it's noisier than a weekday. Clean and simple. Owners are super kind and helpful. Walkins only unless you have a party booked with them. We waited less than 5 minutes for a table for 3 on a busy Holiday Monday. Definitely going back to this location. read more

They lost my piece and told me as such with zero care. They didn't ruin it, they didn't break it, it wasn't late, it was just poof gone. It's the only thing a place like this should never do, and when they lost it, the manager (?) owner (?) said, "it happens." My wife had to share the sentimental value behind what we had spent the hours making, and the guy's response was silence afterwards. It completely kills the experience. It's not replaceable by a refund or a free session. You don't just put a price on something someone builds with heart and care. It's a complete failure in understanding what people come to your place to build. read more

My first time visiting a coloring studio! So glad our first experience was enjoyable. This location really stocked up on their paints and supplies. They provided stamps, stencils, aprons, Sponges, even lazy Susan turntables to make painting round objects easier. I only wish they had fine line brushes for lettering or small details but that's alright. I love that they even had a pets corner, where they have pet bowls, statues, and other pet related ceramics to paint. Be sure to reserve a spot and don't waste your time as a time slot is only 2 hours. Perfect for friends or date night! read more

Super fun and great experience but sometimes can get super busy and feel packed, squeezed. Tables can sometimes feel small when with a group of people. Would go at least once to try and love having a sentimental piece to keep forever after. read more

I've always wanted to visit a Color Me Mine, and it was a pretty fun activity to do solo, with a partner, or with a group of friends! It seems like a lot of children host bday parties here. My party of 2 made a reservation for 5 PM on a Saturday evening. They require a $10 deposit when you make a reservation to ensure that you show up, and it will be deducted from the final cost. When we arrived, it didn't seem overly crowded, so you could possibly walk-in and still get a table. There are a lot of pieces to choose from with varying prices. Bigger pieces seemed to cost more money. My partner made a sake cup set that came with 6 pieces (1 sake bottle, 4 sake cups, and 1 tray) and I made a ramen bowl with chopsticks holder. Our total came out to be over $100, which is quite steep. The overall process was quite fun. Each table is equipped with some water and sponges in case you mess up and want to wipe your design off. There are paint bottles, brushes, pencils, and pens located near the entrance, with lots of variety in colors. At the front, you can grab finer brushes and paint for more fine details. There is also a hair dryer in case you need to dry a layer faster. Majority of the process is self-serve. We got our final glazed pieces the following Wednesday (~5 days). The colors came out a lot darker than I expected, so when you choose your paint colors, definitely look to see what the final color will look like after glazing (they have a tile in front of each paint bottle that shows the color after glazing) vs the color you see painted on your object. I was a bit disappointed in the glazing because it was not smooth! There were so many bumps on the final piece. While it does not affect the functionality of the piece, it's a bummer because this experience was not cheap at all. In terms of service, the night that we went to paint, the people working were really nice and helped us clean up. However, when I went to pick up the pieces, it seemed like the person helping me out was distracted with painting her turtle, so that felt a little disappointing but nothing major. read more

My fiancé and I got a gift certificate for this place. The store is located at a strip mall so parking is easy. The store is very clean and the workers are very friendly and helpful. This was our first time so we had a lot of questions. The workers were very patient and courteous as they helped us through the process. Definitely recommend this for children birthday party or fun afternoon activities. read more
