I shop here often. The owner is an artist, although she doesn't acknowledge it. Her assemblages arevery noteworthy. She also sells clothing that her son designed which is also very interesting and relates to the Monterey Bay. read more

We managed to make it to Habitat just a few minutes before it closed Saturday and we were in wonder and joy throughout! Such fun artwork, and truly every corner, every hung piece, and display had something to enjoy and engage with. Vintage/creative/and one of a kind treasures with an emphasis on KIND! There is an ever changing array of uniquely kitschy and artistic pieces which have been rescued and combined to tickle your sense of humor and style. The woman in charge is interesting and friendly. She has lovingly made most of the items and her connection to her whimsy bone is evident. I'll visit every month or so to see what is new. Wandered into this store... pleasantly surprised with the selection of unusual, artistic, and whimsical pieces... some have history, others have a story... whatever it is, for a small space, it is a true visual and sensory delight. I bought an unusual figure... and another... and found out that Babs added her artistic embellishment to the vintage piece which made it so much more endearing... the conversation with the enchanting owner/artist and her neighborhood friends that popped in and out truly delighted me. Walking into this store was like walking into a Wes Anderson film. And then it got better as we met the owner. She is now displaying and selling clothing designed by her son. If you have not visited the store for awhile, it's worth a visit just for that. I think Babs (the owner) is the person I would want as my therapist. She's on a different level than I am and I want to learn how to live there. read more

NOT HABITAT FOR HUMANITY! This is Habitat---Charming, small antiques and new eclectic shop near the heart of Pacific Grove, CA. This shop doesn't benefit Habitat for Humanity. Just a mislabeling on Yelp's part. Babs, pronounced Bobs, is the charming Dutch proprietor who is very personable. Her displays are quirky and fun and will make you want to buy something. One of the nicest shops in a town where fuddy-duddy shops and shopkeepers abound. You will find Babs and her store very fresh and inspiring. read more

So happy we stopped by this unique store filled with interesting vintage finds and original artwork. The owner was very hospitable and the prices are more than fair. Since my wife enjoys collecting vintage decor, we will definitely make this a "must stop" during our trips to the Monterey area. read more

I recommend two things: an encounter with Babs and then another encounter with Babs. She greets you with a genuine warmth that makes leaving a shame. Browsing here is an art form. Yes, the inventory calls for a slow wandering but it is Babs that makes a leisurely gander here imperative. Holland has sent PG a treasure. I was treated to quite a deal on a unique puffer vest. And introduced to the designer - due to Bab's immediately doing a google search on the unique artist. That must be Bab's requirement: any piece in her store is indeed unique as charming. I will think of Bab's whenever I wear it. As much as I appreciate the style, the encounter with Bab's is just as wonderfully rare. read more

Went on a day trip Monterey with my parents, they brought me to this sweet shop with the friendliest owner. The store has such a great collection of handmade artwork and items (some made by owner herself). Also some cute vintage items at great prices. I bought some beautiful earrings and got a sweet gift from owner for my baby. It was a great stop while walking around town. read more

Bought a lamp (for cash - i.e. no sales tax charged and no sales receipt given....) and when I got home with the bag, ready to package it up to ship to my friend for his housewarming gift, the little light bulb wasn't there. This isn't just any bulb - it is one of those old fashioned, pointy ones. I called her about it - and at first she said she would ship it to me. Then I get an email an hour later saying she had changed her mind. She never told me she wasn't including the bulb or I wouldn't have bought the lamp. I don't need to come home and do legwork and spend more $ to try and track one down, and the person who the gift is for lives 1.5 hours from any major town! This is no way to run a business. I will not return and do not recommend her store. read more
