After working for Verizon for over a year and accomplishing thing that no one has before, I hurt my back on the job I began to apply for management positions hoping to take the load off being that I'm disabled worker and that's when things start to go downhill, I noticed a change almost immediately. I was told I could not become a manager a my location because they don't hire from within but then they hired my coworker who was a caucasian male and that when I noticed the discrimination within this company. I spoke with Ken (hr) about this particular issue and he told me there was nothing he could do. All communication i had was within company code (work phone and email) Ken was also the person to assign my adjuster on my worker comp case. He was also the person I left the voicemail phone on, which I spoke with him and apologized for the situation which was a simple mistake because he contacted me on my person phone (which he has never done) this is where the conflict of interest began, after being investigated I noticed that I was wrongfully terminated, and was being retaliated against due to contacting hr about discrimination in the workplace. Almost in no time I lost my job and all my benefits right before the holidays also right before I had a interview for a management position in another state which paid 3 times more.i find it more than a Coincidence I lost my job and everything right before this opportunity for this management positions, each, and every time I applied for a management position I was not the interview which ultimately resulted in me, not getting that management position which i believe is due to my African-American ethnicity, and I can't help but believe due to me, being a part of the LGBT community I was held back from advancing within this company. I have achieved the highest recommendation in awards at this job. I was overly qualified for each position I lost my job due to allegation and speculation. The same man that I expressed my concerns to is the same man that got this whole investigation started, and I can't help but to think that this is the form of retaliation and I was wrongfully terminated, read more
