As alluded to by others, they will lock you into a contract even when you had no intention on being…read morein one. And even after 20+ years of loyalty to the company, they won't budge at all from allowing you flexibility. There is no sense of honor to their longtime customers and little responsibilty in operating their business.

I noticed this month i had a late payment fee of $8,60 so I called them to ask why. They said I…read morewas late ONE DAY and I couldn't believe it. I asked what happened to the grace period. They said it was the rules. BUT they said since I've been with them for 20 years they would wave the late fee, but I said WAIT what if I hadn't noticed and how many more people haven't notice how much more money are they making. Your probably talking millions just for being late one day. So I went back and looked at my other bills and noticed the previous month I had 2 disconnection fees for $20 each. I told them I have never been disconnected. They said as soon as the email gets generated and sent out it automatically gives you the disconnection fee even if you don't get disconnected. I was like wtf, just cause an email not a STAMPED letter gets sent out its an automatic $20. This has to be somehow illegal. It's called a disconnection fee not a warning fee. Someone needs to take a look at the disconnection fee and late charges rule. This if freaking ridiculous. But like they say that's how the rich stay rich and the poor keep digging in the trash and that's what I did when I dug in the trash and grabbed Reliant.

I live in Texas and and I'm one person not consuming much. Now to 2026, I do auto pay. They didn't receive my payment for Dec 2025 and sent a disconnect notice for January 7, 2026 and a bill for $188 . WTH? blamed it on the bank per the not very helpful, nor knowledgeable & condescending ( for 4 seconds) customer lip service representative. After a trip to the bank headquarters today, they only have 1 card on file for me. IM CALLING THE 4 CHANGE HOTLINE AND I WILL PAY TO JUMP THAT SHIP!!! SHIP. OH YEAH OUR ELECTRICITY HAS BEEN CUT OFF FOR AS LONG AS 3 TO 5 HOURS AT A TIME. NEW ELECTRIC POLES BEING INSTALLED BY ONCORE. THEY NOTIFY OF TIME OF POSDIBLE RESTORATION BUT NO WARNING OF WHEN THEY TURN IT OFF. THAT WOULD BE More helpful when you're not in the big middle of an electrical needification.

If zero stars were possible, they'd get it. 4Change Energy operates like a bait-and-switch. They…read moreadvertise "9¢/kWh" rates, but once you factor in their gimmicky usage credits and mandatory Oncor delivery charges, the real cost is nearly double. In just 90 days I paid $1,200 for electricity -- an average of 17.7¢/kWh, which is 61% higher than what they promote. Their Electricity Facts Label looks good only if you use exactly 500, 1,000, or 2,000 kWh. Real households don't land on those numbers every month, so the credits disappear and the bills skyrocket.
