I visited a Cox Cable store because I was experiencing internet interference at home and decided to…read moreswap out my modem as per security professionals. During the exchange, I was given an open-box modem that was not sealed at all. At the time, I didn't think much of it and accepted it. After doing additional research, I became very concerned. Modems contain sensitive information serial numbers, admin usernames, and passwords. While customers are advised to change credentials, anyone with prior access to the device can still view or record this information. Having worked in a call center myself, I know how much data is easily accessible to employees. When I returned to the store to address my concerns, the associate I initially worked with was in the back, and another employee assisted me. I asked whether it was normal procedure to provide customers with unsealed, open-box modems. I was told this happens when employees check the box to ensure all equipment is inside. My concern is simple: why is this not done in front of the customer? That alone would greatly reduce the security risk. The employee I spoke with even admitted he had never considered the security implications of opening boxes out of sight, which is alarming. Customers have no way of knowing whether device information was copied or misused prior to receiving the modem. While I am not accusing any employee of wrongdoing, security protocols should not rely on trust alone. This is a systemic issue, not a personal one. I was told I could exchange the modem again, but that it would likely also be an open box or that I could buy my own equipment or go elsewhere. That completely misses the point. The issue is Cox's handling of customer hardware and data security. Management needs to address this immediately. Modems and routers should be sealed and opened in front of the customer, period. In today's world, this level of lax security is unacceptable. This is not about being difficult or "being a Karen." It's about protecting customer data and preventing avoidable risks. I love Cox and the services offered but security is huge! . Again the reps in this store all deserve raises and a year off with pay, as this has nothing to do with them doing their jobs. My stars are based on security concerns and not the employees. Thanks guys

Coming in you just add your info at the kiosk and they will call your name. This time around I need to pickup a new panoramic Wifi Modem for another property. I was called and texted by Eldred. He was polite and professional and explained everything. He personally came out the next day to inspect our yard to determine where they would run the line. Two days later they installed the fiber from our alley, and the next day Kyle came out to install the hardware. Everyone was great, the service was superior, and we've had awesome Internet speeds ever since. It's totally refreshing to speak with Eldred and have a normal human interaction. Just prior to this experience I was getting an infuriating runaround from cox between the AI bots and their shabby customer service just to cancel. I am pleased to support a local business and urge you to consider switching to Trepic. I read a bunch of the reviews on here after we had already became subscribers and was a little surprised to see some of the not great reviews. I then saw Eldred personally responding and taking accountability for each review. Talk about professional, this man is real and he actually cares. Thanks Eldred, Kyle, and the Trepic crew!

Rio Verde Wireless provides Internet service to my home, guest house, and barn. These comments are unsolicited. I have found Rio Verde Wireless to be honest, responsive, professional, and competent. They have consistently resolved issues, including wildlife destroying cables or antennas, storm damage, and landscape interference with no drama and with the greatest respect. They have also fixed and been very tolerant of user error, misconfiguration, local firewalls, etc. Always courteous, patient, and speedy, even at odd hours, and willing to help or give advice. The (Internet) service provided is fast, reliable, and reasonably priced. We often stream multiple movies or music to TVs, iPads, and Sonos speakers, as many as six! My family, while working/studying from home, has been able to stream content, up- and download files and data, play interactive games, and use VOIP services to talk with friends and family. Services like Alexa and Siri are consistently connected. And our Link security cameras (which send video updates every 30 seconds to the Link servers) are online, recording, and available 27/7 without fail. Nothing but the highest recommendation and zero complaints.
