VERY satisfied. I was helping some clients of mine get ready to list their home and there was a…read moreTON of work. Drywall patching, plumbing repairs, painting, electrical and more. I reached out to North Seattle Handyman and they had me scheduled in a week with a solid crew. Getting the bids and estimates sent over were really easy and they were awesome in finding a way to stay in my budget. When the day of came I got a phone call explaining some concerns that they had about the job and they offered multiple solutions. They were a little bit more expensive than some of the other companies I reached out to, but they differentiated themselves with their professionalism, prompt communication, and incredible quality of service. I'll definitely be hiring them again.

Despite my initial enthusiasm for the service, I encountered several issues that diminished my…read moresatisfaction. Like many other Handy-person companies have begun doing in the last five years or so, they impose a minimum time limit to ensure a minimum service fee. I required several basic repairs around my residence, which necessitated the use of a ladder, screws, and a screw anchor. One repair was time-sensitive, and the company initially offered immediate repairs but suggested returning a few weeks later due to them being booked up. This approach was reasonable and appreciated. However, after further communication with the company, I discovered for the time sensitive repair, they required a $250 deposit prior to any work starting, and would charge their minimum two-hour fee of $300. The job involved simply reattaching one side of an outdoor sun shade, resulting in an estimated total of $820.85 for all of the repairs. As a homeowner I've had several estimates and repairs completed by Handy-person services over the last few decades, but this one has to be the most unreasonable. In contrast, I contacted another Handy-person service company today that arrived at my residence within 30 minutes of my initial contact. They provided an on-site estimate and completed all the necessary repairs in a single hour. The total cost was $110.50, which included tax. This experience met my expectations. The service was reasonably priced, and the handyman was professional and skilled. I now have established a go-to handyman who I can build a lengthy business relationship, year after year. It is unacceptable to ask customers to pay for labor before the work is completed. Materials may be charged, but labor should not be. So glad I found this new Handyman service company. I will definitely be leaving a positive review for them.

Especially so, since he did a terrific job for us, and I am more than pleased with the outcome. After getting a quick response from Andy, he came to the house and reviewed the project. He promptly responded with an estimate of the work to be done, and communicated well about setting a time to do the work. It involved installing a replacement front door and the work took about 5 hours to complete. He came well prepared with all the tools, was 100% professional in his manner and workmanship, and clearly knew his business. He did the work for the estimate provided, cleaned up after himself (sanding dust, shavings, etc.), and left nothing undone. I would strongly recommend Andy and his company for any future work, and would use him again without hesitation.

His estimates were detailed and extremely thorough. I could tell that Andy had studied the drawings and had a complete grasp of the scope so I was very comfortable that the work would be done per my expectations. I was further pleased to find that his carpentry is excellent - I am an architect who has been working in the industry for over 20 years and it's obvious that Andy is not only well-trained, but that he cares deeply for craftsmanship. I acknowledge that I am probably one of the most difficult clients to please and I was beyond happy with the final product. The entire process from start to finish went as smoothly as any construction project could go. The jobsite was always spotless and all tools were packed up neatly at the end of the day. I could not recommend Stern Carpentry & Construction enough.
