I hate door-to-door solicitors... I actually ignore them most of the time but for some reason I opened the door to this guy... and that's the problem, when you start talking to a really nice person that cares about the state of your roof and can speak intelligently about it---you get sucked in. And so entirely without intending to, a couple nights later, I met with two more really nice men, who came and gave me the lowdown on the status of my roof. Which was not great. I've been doing renovations on my home now since I bought it, but this was by far the most seamless experience. They did everything, even getting the permit that my city needs to replace the roof (which I guess is weird that I need one). All I had to do was take down anything breakable because apparently taking off a roof is a violent and home-shaking process. Every single person I dealt with was service oriented and responsive. They came in like a loud bang-y whirlwind and replaced the roof. Then 2 guys stayed for HOURS, until it was dark, making sure they picked up every single thing around the house, so by the next morning you couldn't even tell they had been there. PRISTINE. Then a day later, Cory and Mark came and installed the gutters. That was definitely a more chill process than the roofing hurricane, and Cory took the time to check in with me and make sure everything was the way I wanted it. Theoretically I shouldn't need another roof for forty years, but for other people that are looking to replace their roof I can unreservedly recommend Polar Bear NW. read more

The second storm door installed a year after the first one arrived with the wrong dimensions started falling apart in June of this year. The next two months of fun & frolics were a repeat offense of last year's delays, accompanied this time around by hostility, threats, coercion, insults, and ultimately a small claims complaint. The door has at long last been repaired, and our resolve never to call on this firm again is set in stone - not that it matters, since we were told they would no longer honor their obligations for the materials and workmanship. Please note: This company claimed our project contract prohibited any legal action against them. So therefore, no legal recourse if they decide they don't like? Heads they win, tails you lose. Negative quote experience. A salesman named Spencer came to my door this morning wanting to see if I was interested in a quote. I was interested in getting a quote for window replacements. Multiple times he asked when my husband would be available to only quote when he is there, I am not married and never stated I have a husband. As a single woman, it is disparaging to have the salesman going door to door make the homeowner feel as though they are not enough to do business with. After scheduling a meeting after expressing that there was no husband for him to chat with and I was a homeowner, a dispatcher over the phone told me that they would not even quote me if not all titleholders were present at the meeting. I explained that I am the sole decision maker and financier for all projects but that wasn't enough for them. I won't recommend Polar Bear or use them in the future. read more

Had our roof replaced this January. The turnaround time from quote to contract to new roof was pretty quick. The install crew was great and professional--about 3 days for a 2000+ sq ft roof. The price was a little high, and part way through the job we had to add two new skylights (the past homeowner had glued the previous skylights to the roofing that needed to come off). A third skylight was also a challenge, and sometimes I wonder if it got put on right--on very windy days, it seems like cool air is coming in when it shouldn't be. But overall we're happy with our new roof and, with warranties, we trust that this will be the last one we need to worry about as long as we live here. read more

Mixed feelings about this company... The two sales guys who came out to see me were a bit high pressure; after their presentation, I told them both "I need a few days to think about it", one of the guys kept saying, "What's to think about?" I said, "I just like to process things at my own pace". He was obviously very frustrated and annoyed and started to get angry about it. In the end, I acquiesced and had a bit of buyer's remorse. When the crew came out, I could not communicate with any of them as they did not speak English. I tried to tell them that I wanted to keep my old shingles for firewood, and he kept nodding, like he understood. When they finished the job (which I was not around for do to my work schedule), I came home and found all my old cedar shingles gone. The good news is, the new garage roof looks really nice. But a week later, another sales guy for Polar Bear came calling to see if I wanted the main house done, I said "not this year", he started to lay it on me, but this time I was read. I said, "I've got your number, I'll let you know" and went back inside. read more

The house looks beautiful and I feel the workmanship couldn't have been better. We had our roof, siding, insulation, and a couple solar tubes installed. They did charge very high prices. What I had issues with was the lack of clean up by the roofers, and the complete damage done to my garden. Most everyone was friendly and helpful. I wish I knew the name of the insulators because I'd recommend the manager find a different team. My recommendation is to hire them for their high quality work, but make it very clear that you wish to be informed of exactly when the teams will be arriving. I paid Polar Bear Solutions $32.000 for 10 windows and a sliding glass door last August. The work was finished in January. Casey had stressed the new windows would make a huge difference in reducing the noise from Harbour Point Blvd and it didn't really change the noise level at all. When I was finally able to talk to Director Teddy about it he said he would look into the specifications and get back to me. He never did! Now that we have had a few warm days , I can't see that these supposedly high efficiency windows are doing anything to reduce the heat inside. So disappointing and no one at that company cares. read more

Polar Bear left a door hanger about 6 months ago and my wife called them to schedule and approintment. Two nice young gentlemen showed up and started their pitch. Initially it was pretty impressive so we scheduled a followup a week later. They showed up again and quoted us a price for new siding, garage doors, roof, gutters garage walkin door and one window replacement. It was approximately $250,000 including tax (this included a senior discount). Of course, they wanted us to sign a contract at that time. I asked for a couple of days to think about it. I cound see that they were disappointed. When we talked a couple of days later I declined and told them that their price was much too high. They supposedly contacted their boss who authorized another discount. I declined FAST FORWARD 6 MONTHS Our new siding, garage doors, roof, gutters, garage walkin door and window have been installed. Total cost is about 1/3 what Polar Bear quoted. All work was performed by different craftsmen in our area. Everyone of the contractors were recommended by local merchants and other very reputable contractosr. Very professional job--and I know--I owned a service company here for over 20 years CONSIDER THIS Why would you hire Polar Bear to do a 3-4 week job when they are located 3 hours away (round trip)? Think about the expense just to get them to the job site every day or to pay perdiem to their workers to stay onsite. If Polar Bear was as good as they claim, I would think that they would have more work than they can handle in Mukilteo. I was not going to do a review since we did not use them, however, we received a postcard from them today extolling their services. I got a chuckle out of their claim that the BBB had named them finalists for the 2022 and 2023 BBB Torch Award for Ethics. For those of you that are not aware, The BBB is an organization that businesses pay a fee to for representation. That is why I looked at the reviews and decided to share our experience. I had this company do a complete over haul to the exterior of my house, which included new siding and gutters. There was a miscommunication before the job even began with the delivery of materials down to what was agreed upon in the contract. Not to say the least the job was not completed in a timely manner. The work that was performed was less than professional and its been almost two months since the job has been completed and they have still yet come back to finish the repairs that was agreed upon. Fantastic windows, friendly and understanding staff! In the summer, we were approached by Kendall, who did an excellent presentation and prepared an attractive quote for us. Our new windows were ready for installation even earlier than promised. The crew was friendly and empathic. They saw my wife sad, and the next day they brought a rose bush to be planted in our yard. The house looks great with the new windows, and it was the first summer when we stopped thinking of air conditioning because they insulate so well. In the winter, the house is warm. In the winter, Polar Bear approached us with a good deal to replace the rest of the windows & sliding doors, and we went ahead with that. We gave a relatively small cash advance. In about nine days after that, I get a notice that our financial situation drastically changes, and we may need to sell the house and relocate. I called Kendall, and I talked to Teddy explaining the situation and asking how we could solve it in a mutually acceptable manner. Kendall came to us with several options, including freezing the project or getting a long term payment postponement. After I asked for a return of the cash advance, Polar Bear sent me a check, no questions asked. I am looking forward to resuming my project with them as I am so excited about the windows, and also Kendall showed me beautiful front doors that we loved - that would be our phase 3 of the project. Also, after getting the cash advance back, I reported minor concerns with the windows, and they sent the same crew to fix things. The team showed understanding and care and fixed those things and more for us. Again they went beyond what we asked for. What I like about the crew and Kendall is that they are transparent, open, and frank about things. I feel I can trust these people, and I can recommend them to other customers. read more

Our cameras caught them walking up and paused to read the signs and then left the door hanger on our door. They did not knock but no soliciting means no soliciting not no knocking. If this company cannot follow a simple request put to them like no soliciting then why would I trust them on anything. read more

After spamming us for years I finally relented and had these guys come to look at our roof. The guys ladder slipped when he went to get on the roof and he damaged the gutter. Things happen. They said they would repair it and it's been a week. Now they said it'll be a couple more. I don't have a date but they said they'll "put us on the schedule". Where to start... we had a small roof leak. We also wanted new windows, gutters, and siding and were hoping to find one company to do it all. Polar Bear was our 3rd or 4th estimate. The two guys (Cory and ??) seemed knowledgeable but pushy but some of the others had been worse. Might be the industry. At least these guys spent a lot of time on the roof with my partner looking at the possible issues. I should note that I insisted on Milgard Windows and the guys from Polar Bear stated that they didn't typically install them but would check with their boss. The ended up getting permission to use them on our project. Considering my partner wanted the high end Milgard product that would probably increase their bottom line, I wasn't surprised. The other irritating thing about this company is their unwillingness to give you info via email or on the phone. They want to set up meetings and "go over" everything which is tedious and time-consuming. I explained that I am dealing with a life-threatening medical condition and they still wanted me to attend all their "meetings" which I found boring and over-explained. They didn't build rapport with me at all - felt like I was just window dressing for the men to talk. Seriously irritating. Cory - I'm looking at you. In the end, we selected Polar Bear to patch a section of roof and to install new gutters with the idea that if this project went well, we'd hire them to do the (very expensive) balance of the work. So, did it go well? Nope. The first day, roofers arrived bright and early and then left in under an hour. No one said a word to me. No call, no text, no nothing. Finally, we called the office and THEN Cory called my partner to say their truck had broken down and should arrive sometime that day. OK. When did you know this and why didn't you call us then? Better yet, why weren't you on the job to tell us in person? The roof demo was messy and noisy which we expected. What we didn't expect was that the guys would simply toss things onto our lawn and garden from the second story roof without ever coming back to clean up their mess. They collected some of the old material but certainly not all of it and none of the nails. Fortunately, the next person to arrive was Noa, who was installing our gutters. We LOVE Noa. He took a magnet on a stick and spent over an hour collecting all the nails which he told me later the roofing guys should have done. He also cleaned up much of the debris they'd left all over the yard. He was sweet, listened to my concerns about my dog, and worked efficiently. AND the gutters looked great and worked well. The roof portion eventually got replaced except Cory had neglected to tell the guys that an old, unused vent pipe was supposed to be removed and the hole through the roof where it emerged was to be patched. We thought that might have been the cause of our leak but when my partner went on the roof to check things, the vent pipe was still there. He called Cory and Cory said he'd get someone out in a day or two to check it out. Never happened. About a month later, someone from Polar Bear called to see if we were happy with the job and my partner told them about the vent and the lack of follow-up. Cory called immediately and gave us the usual song and dance. We were actually surprised when Noa came by two days later to remove the vent pipe and patch the hole. Again, he was friendly, efficient, speedy, and I was much impressed by his work. Our roof is no longer leaking and looks great - thanks to Noa. Bottom line: we spent a great deal of money only to have this company ignore commitments and treat us like we didn't matter. The ONLY bright spot in this whole picture is Noa. Don't hire these people. You'll regret it. read more

Casey Smith was very thorough and professional. Provided a detailed and complete estimate. Casey provided brochures for all of the products (decking, siding) and made sure all of our questions were answered (almost 4 hours discussing project, options, etc). Look forward to working with Casey on this project and future projects. 12/25/17 update. Casey and crew have done several projects now: new roof, new siding, replaced 2 French door and 2 custom windows, new gutters. Finished projects are terrific! Crew members are professionals and polite. They kept my home tidy and neat through out the entire process. When a problem was encountered they called me right away and discussed the options. From the bidding where my husband and I had a million questions, to the cleanliness, professionalism and overall quality of work itself it was amazing! We had our roof, gutters and new siding put on. Some have mentioned this company is top dollar, but I did NOT find Polar Bear to be the highest bid. But you do get what you pay for! If you want amazing work, definitely hire them. An update: in doing our taxes realized windows they sold us are NOT certified by Energy Star for our area. Hmmm.....so buyer beware! Through a wind storm a patio table fell and chipped a small chip off bottom rail. We called Polar Bear to repair the on piece of bottom rail and at about one month got a call back saying it would be between $800.00 to $1500.00. That's a bit out of hand after having them do a new deck and front porch. At this point wouldn't recommend them for repairs. read more

Israel and his crew were great, showed up every day and put in a long day of work. They also did a great job of cleaning up afterwards. Trespassing and belligerent. Door to door solicitation on a private road that clearly states private and no solicitation. Coincidently, I am in the market for some window and door work. I was walking the private road and asked the gentleman for his flyer and told him I was pursuing some bids. He was inappropriately insistent on getting my info and would not take no for an answer. I mentioned to him that it was illegal to be on the private property soliciting and he left me but proceeded to go door to door. I called the company and was told the manager would be in touch w him. He then was on the phone and proceeded to go door to door. I then asked him if I could escort him off the private property or if he would prefer 911. He continued to pursue going door to door. I suspect this is a reflection of this company .. no boundaries and rules and laws are for others, not them. I will absolutely avoid doing any type of business with a company w these work ethics and standards. read more
