Verde is in no way a bargain and fails to deliver value on its exorbitant prices. The Kiwi Slushie is neon green and initially, flavorfully satisfying, but after a few sips, tolerance for the artificial taste plummets. Also, most of the syrup is drained halfway through, and the remaining ice is woefully bland. The popcorn chicken is crispy and juicy (hard to go wrong here), but the approximate $10 price tag for an order of chicken and large drink is enough to fetch a decent meal elsewhere. Not that it matters much at a tapioca store where service is not essential, but the cashier with a permanent scowl definitely does not enjoy her job, and there is no notification for when an order of popcorn chicken is ready on the counter. read more

Oh bubble tea, you are so yummy. I got coconut milk tea, regular size. I enjoyed it very much. Buyer take note the larger size is enormous. I also sampled the plain milk tea, it was a tad oversweet and very heavy after awhile. Maybe the non-milk teas do not have this problem, too bad I live too far away and will not be able to return and do more "research" on this. The tea was tasty, as were the bobas. Line & ordering system can be intimidating for the newbie, thankfully I visited with some pros. read more

Verde is the closest place to get bubble tea from where I live, so I come here pretty often. I haven't tried the food, so I can't comment on that. I usually get the Milk tea with less sugar. The tea here is pretty good, but it's not one of my favorites in the Bay Area. Even with less sugar, it's still too sweet for me. Also, I wish the drink was a little more tea-y. read more

Decent bubble tea! I've gone here a few times now and their tea is always tasty. But it's very poorly laid out: the register is right by the front door. Thanks, but I don't want to stand in the doorway!! But you have to if there's anyone else on line in front of you. The decor is just ok, nothing spectacular. Ambience is terrible - the music is way way too loud, and it is impossible to have a conversation in there! Owners, please: is this a club or a place to sit with friends and enjoy conversation and some bubble tea? Overall, there are better places for bubble tea as far as flavor goes. Tea Era is just down the street on Castro, but not a sit-down place. If you're looking for somewhere nice to sit down and have a drink, you may have to forgo the bubble tea. read more

Love this place could drink pearl milk tea any time anyday from here:) ive always had problems with other pearl tea places and how others drinks have hard boba or the tea just dosent taste fresh. but here it was perfect:) I try to get tea before i work on the weekends^^ read more

I just got a delicious pearl milk tea. It was rose flavored!! it had rose petals in it and was ready decently fast. I also got their thick toast and was practically blown away. Definitely a new favorite snack. We love it. read more

A good place to hang out on a weekend night. I came here late Sunday night and there weren't a lot of people. Cashier was nice and service was prompt. I ordered a large taro bubble tea with no sugar while my partner had a large coconut bubble tea. I hadn't realized that their large meant LARGE. It was big step up from their regular sized cups! On flavor-nothing too surprising. A smooth, silky blend of taro and milk. The boba could be a lot more chewier. I noticed many were over cooked and therefore didn't have a bite to them. read more

Verde Tea Cafe - Cafes Near Me - Mountain View, California

normally come to this place if i want good popcorn chicken. it tastes like ACTUAL chicken. their boba and teas are also good but i mainly come for the chicken. not super expensive or anything so i generally go with friends. nice place! read more

Had a craving for calamari and peach milk tea. Came with boyfriend to get some late night cravings settled. First off, service here has never been very good. Why is this place so small... it makes waiting for your order so painful. After getting our food and trying some calamari and chicken on our way to the car, we were thoroughly disappointed. The sweet potato fries that come with the food was soggy and almost tasteless. The calamari just tasted like batter and it was pretty crunchy when it was hot but once it got cool, it had a very bad texture - almost like it was stale. Overall the food had no flavor, didn't even ask us if we wanted to add spiciness to it. The chicken texture was okay, but a lot of the pieces were fatty. The chicken pieces were very large and got stuck together. Again, it didn't taste very good once it cooled. Peach milk tea was not that great, this has confirmed my thought that I don't like the powder they put into their drinks. I got my drink less sweet, but it was still so sweet!! How come I couldn't get my drink without any ice?? That didn't make any sense... so when I put my half finished drink in the refrigerator for the next day, it was watered down and yucky. Never coming here again - No thank you! read more

quality tea, good boba, and they also have other good drink toppings (pudding, aloe bricks, etc). their food is also not too shabby. i'm a fan and come here regularly. read more

nice place, good tea and frequented by a lot of kids from Stanford

it's great boba tea and freezes and the snacks (salty fried chicken) and desserts aren't bad but it's better to take the tea and walk around downtown MV. it's almost always filled with teenagers, especially weekday afternoons, and because the tables are so close together, it's really not a relaxing place to hang out. but still my favorite tea place in downtown Mountain View read more

This store is quiet and clean which is a nice change from some of the other boba stores in the area. Wide variety of drinks plus this place has a kitchen where they make and serve some snacks. The drinks were a bit too sweet for me personally. I ordered a lychee green tea with black pearls. I'm used to it being more tart, but this was slightly syrupy for me. I'll order it less sweet next time. read more

Verde is one of the places where I have been getting my pearl tea fixes ever since I lived and worked in Mountain View. That was back in 2001, and they still have the best tapioca around. The almond milk tea is my favorite, although there are so many choices I haven't tried them all yet. The snacks are pretty good, too. (The calamari, cuttlefish balls, and thick toast are highly recommended.) read more

Free wi-fi, yummy salty fried chicken, and the best pmt around. I always seem to see someone I know here too. My favorite: passion free pearl tea w/o milk. Someone needs to tell them to bring back the frequent buyer card though!!!! read more

I stopped in for bubble tea before Xmas and I have to say, I just don't understand the appeal of this place..,.maybe it's because I didn't eat anything? I asked for royal tea or (plain black) milk tea with bubbles and it's definitely not what I ended up with! My tea tasted like jasmine milk tea with bubbles--bubbles that were waaay too mushy. I'll be looking for other places to satisfy my boba cravings... read more

Ever since the Cupertino location closed, I'm glad to have found the Mt. View location! The drinks here are yummy! They make them really fast and there's a large selection to choose from. The location is nice and the workers are friendly. The drinks are pretty cheap considering the size of the cups. (Much larger compared to Quickly's or Tapioca) The service is always very friendly and happy. They're open late, but I wish they'd be open before work too! But oh well! I haven't had the opportunity to try the food here! Perhaps another day! read more

One of the better boba places out there. Never had a bad drink here but a little on the sweet side. Guess I have to go back to try asking for half sugar. read more

I love this place! Compared to all the little tea places you find in SJ, I really seem to like the tea here more than the others. I find their tea to be very authentic and will give you that JOLT you need to get right back to work. I go here after I have lunch in DT Mt. View. Their milk tea is great as well as their flavored teas. read more

Not bad for a late-night pearl tea fix. When I used to live in Mountain View, I came here often for green milk tea with grass jelly (in lieu of tapioca pearl). The service is always prompt and no matter how packed they are (and trust me, they can be really packed!) never once did they mess up my order. The free internet is a nice bonus. Although that might mean that some people would be parked there much longer than they should, unconcerned about the long line of people waiting to snatch a table. I noticed that the place became 100X more popular on Friday and Saturday nights, especially after they reopened after renovation a few months back. I personally liked the old Verde better... post-renovation Verde is way too dark and depressing (hence minus one star) read more

Good pearl tea and cafe space to hang out. The almond milk tea with pearls is good, and I liked my friend's hazelnut milk (sans tea for caffeine reasons) read more

The Thai Iced tea w/ boba tasted like sweet soap water. The service was terrible and disorganized and the wait was too long! Did not make a good first impression, probably would not come back again. read more

This place is pretty similar to all the other Verdes, decent milk tea for a decent price. With Tea Era nearby, I'd probably rather go there, but Verde has decent food so I come here for lunch sometimes and usually get the chicken Katsu-like plate (forgot the name). Other than that, nothing wrong with the place aside from it being a little cramp inside. read more

Satisfies my late night boba cravings! Tapioca pearls are chewy like they're supposed to be and milk tea hits the spot. Don't mind picking up a lychee or taro slush either - pretty good blended consistency. Seating is limited, but somehow I always find a way to squeeze a party of 6 or so in. Very loud, not the best for an intimate conversation. Never had a problem with customer service - probably a hit or miss thing. Thankfully my visits have been hits. Or misses. Whatever is the positive one. :) read more

Before Quickly finally began populating the Bay Area, it was hard to find a milk tea shop that sold beyond decent Pudding Milk Tea. Welcome Verde, a popular hang out/study/post-work detox cafe for the local clique. They have some very tasty Fried Salty Chicken snacks, but the rest of the fried snack menu has been not so appetizing. Still, for a cheap and quick bite to eat after (or in between) the day, some chicken bits plus tea ain't half bad. Since Verde has been so well integrated into my Silicon Valley routine, I give it 4 stars. Beware of the lunch and past 8 crowds though... the remodelling has made people flow a little awkward and usually unbearable. read more

After a nice bowl of ramen at Maruichi, I always have to make my way over here to get some boba. I like that you don't have to pay extra for tapioca here, and the size is slightly larger than your average Quickly or Tapioca Express. The milk tea is frothy too, wich I really like. I usually just get the regular milk tea and the jasmine milk tea - both are very good. Lychee milk tea is also delish! read more

Probably my favorite boba place - usually i don't get the pearls if i'm coming after a meal because it's too filling. What i love about the milk tea is the frothiness, the generous size, the perfect balance of sweetness and tea - other places make it way too sweet. read more

Looks like I forgot to review this place when I last came in 2008 (or 2009?). They've got a pretty impressive variety on their menu. The cafe is pretty tiny but it's bigger than Tea Era. read more

Decided to treat myself to a smoothie with pearls. There are so many places to get this these days and the quality can be a bit spotty. I've always like this place because their smoothies don't have that sicky/sweet artificial taste of many other shops. 1 star off for not being willing to mix flavors - I wanted strawberry/mango, but ended up with just mango. I would have paid the extra $.50 that most places charge for this request. Still tasty though. read more

Whenever I try out a new boba shop, I always base my ratings off my go-to drink: Honey Jasmine Green Milk Tea with Boba. Not every shop has this specific drink, but usually from my spurt of words, the cashier usually gets it right. When I saw the menu at Verde, I really had no idea what my go-to drink was called based off of their menu so I just said my usual spiel and ended up somewhat unsatisfied. The order came out to Honey Milk Tea which translates to a regular boba milk tea with honey on the bottom. Yet, I am a boba fiend, & if ever in the area, Verde is worth another visit. read more

This used to be the hang out spot for my friends and I because we all enjoyed the cheap, but addicting milk tea that is close to home. Sadly, as of the past few times we've gone, the milk tea has become watered down and flavorless. The first couple times, we asked them to remake our drinks for us, hoping that the watery drink was just a mistake, but they came out just as watered down as the original. So, I'm sad to say that we no longer come here anymore since the quality has really taken a plunge. If you guys ever decide to go back to your old ways and make good tasting milk teas, I'd be back in a heartbeat. read more

Mango milk tea with lychee jelly! yumms!!

The popcorn chicken is nice but classic milk tea has no tea flavor at all. It's like drinking iced milk.

Verde has some nice pearls, and their tea ain't half bad either. There are a few other places to choose from within a couple blocks, but these guys consistently have better drinks. For a while they were giving away free plastic cups with each order, which is probably what got my girlfriend hooked (we have a set of 12... we only bring them out for special guests). So the cups got our attention, but now we go back for the tea. read more

This place sets the standards of pearl teas for me and thus turned me into a junkie. I've been to rehab since and can, for the most part, resist the temptation to overindulge on this sweet nectar during my visits to downtown Mountain View. read more

Great place to top off a meal from the Castro Street. It seems to be a non-chain cafe, but it really doesn't distinguish itself (other than the decor) from many of the other boba-pearl tea places. I had the mango smoothie which was super sweet and refreshing. read more

i feel like many of my friends like verde out of all the boba tea places. gee... that sure is funny to say in 2010. a decade ago, that would have sounded normal; but nowadays, are that really _that_ many boba tea places left? i mean, heck! even the tart yoghurt places have peaked, right? well, regardless; maybe i'm just an old fool that takes it back to the old school because i'm so cool, but i don't mind getting a boba café drink now and then although i more often ask them to hold the boba in this post low.carb diet world, right? on my most recent visit, i ordered the coconut smoothie freeze. it was pretty good. i like blended drinks, but this one had a big ice cube in the middle that didn't quite get blended. i ended up eating the squishee type drink with a spoon instead of trying to drink it through the skinny straw that i first tried. i figured that since i had no boba in there, i didn't need to use a big straw. maybe the big straw would have worked. who knows? well, the prices are just so.so, but i'm glad they accept credit card. read more

MMM. PEARL MILK TEA. After a heaping helping of shabuway me and my beau always stop by and grab a tea. So far the best flavor I've had is the coconut. I'll be coming here again I'm definitely sure read more

I liked the cozy atmosphere of this off-castro tea house but the pearl milk tea failed to live up to the flavor of Tea Era (on castro) which i believe is the best in Mountain View. On the other hand, if you are looking to chat with friends, Verde Tea Cafe has more seats whereas Tea Era is more of a to-go place. I'd still come back to try other food items - which smelled pretty darn good. read more

LARGE ALMOND MILK TEA! it is better than the taro mt or mango slush imo!
