3.5 stars I had to check out this place because it's supposedly a major milk tea/boba contender in the South Bay and especially on Castro Street. I ordered their green milk tea with aloe jelly instead of pearls. It was very frothy, but then again, their menu actually states "Frothy Milk Teas" as the category. Generally, I like my milk teas a little frothy because you know they prepared it fresh, but this place makes it very sweet and frothy to the point where you can't taste the actual tea anymore. And it's a powdery froth rather than a milky consistency like at Ten Ren. Although it's different than the other milk tea places, I still liked it and would come back for it depending on my mood and craving that day. But what I think this place lacks is really good customer service. The place is small, clutterly, and not very clean. I understand it can get a little busy at times, but the workers never smile at you, and when your drink is ready, they just throw it on the pick-up counter for you :-/ I do like the prices here though, and a large is incredibly LARGE! They're also open later than other places. But if I come around the area for milk tea and Tea Era is still open, I'd probably go there instead to get the Roasted Oolong and better customer service. read more

Tea is reaallly diluted and "regular sweet" is diabetes inducing. I give it three stars instead of two because the prices are decent for the size and because they serve decaf (which is a rarity at many tea shops)! The syrup overpowers the tea taste. I've tried a couple of the fruity teas and had high hopes for the ginger tea. Sadly, the teas were terribly diluted and the ginger flavor was overall lacking. Also, the "frothy teas" had absolutely no froth. AND SERVICE SUCKS. I stood at the counter waiting to order while Employee 1 chatted with Employee 2. When she finally acknowledged my presence, Employee 1 interrupted me while I was ordering to answer a (non-work related) question to Employee 2. Employee 1 then turns back to me and says, "oh sorry I didn't get that". Yes I wonder why .... read more

I've been to Verde Tea a few times now, and so far they've been very consistent with their flavors and their bobas are always cooked perfectly. Pricing here is very reasonable as well, less than $3 bucks for many of their regular sized drinks. Personally, I always opt for their milk teas which I think have a nice, even combination of tea and milk flavors, and the sweetness is not overbearing as well. Definitely my favorite boba spot within the area! One minor negativity that I experienced was the lay out of the place. There's just too many tables and chairs and it quickly becomes crammed inside the restaurant. But other than that, everything else was great! read more

This is for their boba. I'm new to the Mountain View area. I've been getting my boba from east bay and San Mateo. Honestly it's disappointing. I got the rose green milk tea and it was wayyyyy toooo sweet. All I taste is rose syrup. I normally drink pretty sweet and I need but even I can't accept this sweet. I added about a cup of milk to dilute the sweetness and it didn't even work. The boba quality had gone up in Bay Area in the past couple year and this place didnt meet my standard. One thing is that they have small boba and not many places have that. The small was pretty good. That's the only reason it's 2 stars read more

My friend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon. It wasn't busy, which was nice. We ordered the pearl MT, grass jelly MT, and salty fried chicken. The MTs tasted like they were watered down. It was disappointing. The redeeming part was the chicken. We were thoroughly surprised that it came with sweet potato fries. It was made well and we felt a little bit better about the whole experience. I would come back for the chicken, but probably not the drinks. read more

Oh hell yeah, boba drinks should always be made in a blender. Hazelnut milk tea? That's a first. Did I always just overlook such a thing in search of my standard taro or almond milk tea? I dunno, but hazelnut just shot up in both the AP and Coaches' Poll of top 25 boba flavors. Great hazelnut flavor, great boba texture, good value. All around good stuff. The cheesecake looked good, although I didn't try it. Normally $4/slice, it was on 'special' for $2/slice. Maybe next time. A good choice for boba drinks in the area. read more

This place is nothing, except for the best milk tea place ever! I don't like plain milk tea, and I never order it at Quickly's, Teaway, etc. But when I choose milk tea, I choose Verde. Nothing else here tastes as good as their milk tea, so do not deviate. The tapioca ball to drink ratio is always excellent. Their balls have a distinct flavor- they were sweet, and fresh. The milk tea itself is frothy, light, and refreshing. Purple Kow and T-Pumps taste like garbage compared to this place. I'd drink a week old Verde drink over a fresh Purple Kow drink or T-Pump drink anyday. :) I'm not kidding. Anyways, this place always hits the spot. I do not mind driving all the way out here to get a drink. The popcorn chicken is great too. It comes with some sweet potato fries so you do not get bored of the popcorn chicken. I think they have some kind of happy hour combo too so if you come here before 5, you get a discount. You can also sign up for a rewards card too. The service is so fast. They make your drinks by the time you reach the end of the counter. The milk tea is always consistent here. read more

Verde Tea Cafe is a nice little place in mountain view. We ordered a pearl milk green tea and a Thai milk tea with pearls and as soon as we finished paying it was ready!!! The drinks were refreshing and the seating area was a great place to hang out. However, my golden rule of boba is that if the line is not long, then there must be a better store near by. This line was quite short. The parking in this area is horrendous. It's difficult to find parking in any of the lots at night and on weekends so its best to come with a buddy so you can dash and go. read more

Drinks are alright. It was Tpumps flavored drinks. I have to say Tpump drinks taste much better especially their honey boba! I was surprised to find Rose Milk Green Tea there so I ordered it along with a Mango Green Milk Tea. It stated Mango Milk Tea on the menu, but you can definitely ask them to change the tea! The worker there was extremely accomodating! I asked about the sweetness level and he mentioned 25%,50%, and 100%. Oddly, they didn't offer 75%. I asked if I can do 75% and the worker happily told me that they can do 75% as well so ask even if you don't see it on the menu! I ordered Rose GMT 50% sweet and Mango GMT 75% sweet, both with light ice and boba. Three drinks with boba came out to be around $13 which was pretty decently priced. They do have a $10 minimum for credit card use. Onto the drinks! It was interesting for them to add frothy topping to the drinks! However, the drinks were only 80% filled? That was a bit disappointing. The most disappointing part was the drink itself. Even though I ordered the drinks light ice, the drinks were very very diluted. I was only about to slightly taste the tea flavor. The Rose GMT was nothing like that of Tea Stations even though it was one of their top drinks. The Mango GMT tasted extremely artificial and was nothing like that of Shareteas and definitely not on par with Tpumps either. The boba itself was alright, just average. Apparently, it was my friend's favorite place for slushs in Mountain View so maybe I will give it another try in the future. read more

This was not the place to go for my milk tea fix. After having tried the mung bean milk tea at 7 leaves a couple of weeks back and being blown away by the flavor, consistency, and quality, I decided to give that flavor a try here too. I was very disappointed. It seemed they took a regular milk tea and just put beans into it hoping the flavors would harmoniously mix themselves into a delicious drink. They had also run out of normal boba and only had tiny boba left when I came in around 8:30 pm on a Tuesday. read more

I have forgotten how much I love the teas here at Verde. I usually go to the location in Fremont since it's more convenient, but this place is no different. Yes, their milk teas are powdery but that's what I live about it! It's different than most milk tea places around. I usually change my order up to two things: the QQ ramen milk tea and the egg pudding milk tea. I rarely see QQ ramen in other milk tea stores so it's always a nice change when I order it here. Also their egg pudding is out of this world! It's sweet, milky, and melts in your mouth. I'm drooling now that I think about it lol. The store itself is a bit small, but most restaurant in this area is similar. There's a many other stores around that the space is limited. Once you walk inside, the menu is to the right. We didn't even wait 2 minutes for our drink after ordering! Fast and delicious tea! Verde doesn't disappoint :) read more

As per a friend's suggestion, I tried Verde this weekend -- seriously magical bubble tea! It was surprisingly crowded at 10pm on a Sunday night, and despite the hefty line, the bubble tea was served with amazing speed. Very impressed. Good ambience. They appeared to actually have everything they claimed to have on their menu (unlike the bubble tea place I go to back home...), and certainly some interesting flavors I've never tried before. The ambience is also good - seems like a cool place to hang out with friends, and there's a nice counter to sit at in addition to tables. We got the following flavors: * Strawberry - delicious and tasted as expected, * Green Bean - tasted kind of like red bean... not sure what the difference is other than color * Rose Green Tea - beautiful pink color, and tasted like you were eating a flower. * Sesame - pure heaven on ice + tapioca balls. Really, my sesame bubble tea was some of the best I've ever had. The bubbles were just right, and sesame, well, how can you go wrong? Will definitely be going back. As much as possible. read more

Pretty much my friends' favorite hangout spot Friday nights even when the line is piling out the door onto the sidewalk outside- and for a good reason, I must say. The place itself is on the smaller end, but I personally prefer to call it cozy. The design of the interior is nice and slightly dim, yet well lit at the same time, and there's a lot of movable tables so as to allow for groups of probably like 4-10 (usually how many people high schoolers/college students would hang out as) to all sit practically at the same table. Pretty much almost all of the drinks here are good - I've tried a few of the flavored milk teas with tapioca, and they're all delicious, but at the end of the day, I'm a traditionalist and go for the regular QQ Milk Tea/PMT. Overall notes: the tea is really really milky in terms of flavor, which my friends love, but as for myself, not as much. The pearls, however, are cooked amazingly most of the time i've come here: never too firm, never way too soft. So all in all, a really solid option for great PMT in the (really competitive) South Bay. Oh, make sure you ask for only a little ice when ordering though - they dump WAY too much ice into your drink, and it really waters it down and makes it taste...not as good. But overall, rather a little bit on the sugary milky side and not enough tea flavor, but solid PMT. As for my personal tastes, I like Tea Era the next block over on Castro a little more, but it's mostly personal preference. If you're looking for a good Taiwanese-style PMT place (disclaimer: I've never been to Taiwan, so I'm relying on what my Taiwanese friends told me), this is the place to go I was debating between a 4 and 5 star on this (dammit yelp, why won't you let me give half stars!) but my complaints are mostly personal preference, and this is one amazing place for good PMT. read more

The best Taiwanese food in town. The food is delicious and the portion is much more than others. Also, they offer authentic Taiwan fusion which you cannot find anywhere. Other than that , their price is relatively cheaper reasonable comparing to similar stores. The popcorn chicken is tender and juice and the Taiwan style pork teppanyaki with noodles and black pepper source is a must try. Last but not least, their staff are so friendly and always with smiles, especially the lady wearing scarf( I guess she is the owner.) I highly recommended and definitely will come often. read more

This spot deserves more recognition! I have been a loyal customer way before boba became popular in the bay. I ordered the Oreo Storm on a cold Thursday afternoon. The first thing I noticed was that the online menu prices on Yelp weren't the same as the prices on the Verde Tea menu. Another Yelper had raised concern about the layout of the new Verde, and I have to agree it does give a cramped feeling. I don't know if I had the wrong idea ordering the Oreo with a vision of What8ver's Oreo drink in mind, but either way I was definitely disappointed with the aesthetics of the drink. The whole drink was a flat light brown color, and there were definitely no cute Oreo crumbs or a plant leaf on top. Putting my disappointment aside, I had a sip to see if the taste made up for the lack in appearance. I was again disappointed when I found that some sips were extremely liquidy and others were too much solid slush. I think there might have been real Oreo bits inside, but if there were they were Oreos food processed to the size of sand grains. The drink did taste chocolate-y and similar to Oreo but I found it also to taste quite similar to a chocolate protein shake. The drink was edible, but I definitely wouldn't find the $4.91 I paid to be worth it. Maybe the milk tea is better at Verde? Definitely don't order the Frozen Romance drinks if you want aesthetically pleasing material though. read more

We go here a lot and the boba milk tea is usually pretty good but my boba milk tea today tasted like soap. Drank half and my stomach is feeling a bit funny. Really bad service. My friend and I ordered a so-called "shaved ice" and the lady (prob the owner) gave us a bowl of chunky ice with super sloppy taro/beans just slapped on top. The "shaved ice" was hard and bulky...pretty much you'd have to try to break them apart to eat it. We were super, super disappointed, especially since this place was supposed to be Taiwanese. We nicely told the lady/owner that it was really chunky and couldn't eat it bc it's like eating small pieces of ice instead of shaved ice. However, she came back with the worst attitude and was very dishonest. She said, "I don't know what type of shaved ice you've been eating, this is what shaved ice is, but we have done this a long time since we opened." It was disappointing to hear that because if she really was Taiwanese, and had tried other real places with real shaved ice in the bay area, then she shouldn't have said it. We felt like she lied straight to our faces so she didn't have to replace us with something else or pay us back. You don't treat your customers this way...horrible. This was my high school hang out back in the day!! Man, so many memories of walking down the street during lunch to get PMT and popcorn chicken. I remember Verde being my favorite milk tea place; I loved the frothy texture! However, it's not like how I used to remember anymore.. I ordered an oolong milk tea. And it definitely did not taste like a roasted tea. I was feeling very disappointed. The frothiness from my nostalgia was there, but the taste wasn't! Sad! It really just tasted like a milkshake tbh. The grass jelly was good. No complaints. I think the frothy tea game is over. Places like Boba Guys, iTea, and ShareTea have definitely upped the expectations. I've been here a handful of times and each time I've enjoyed my experience. The service is quick-never waiting for more than 5 minutes. I'd go with their milk teas over the flavored teas. The milk tea is kinda creamy to me which I enjoy, but if you want something lighter definitely go for the flavored teas! Their boba topping is so good! It's the right amount of sweet and chewy. Beware: if you like adjusting sweetness and ice level I don't know if you can here. It is rather sweet..but I like very minimal sweetness (sharetea=30% sweetness as a reference). In all honesty, I LOVE coming to Verde with my friends and family. It's a nice quiet place to come study and enjoy a snack as well. I've definitely recommended this place to my friends and they will also continue coming even after I move away. I usually get jasmine milk tea or lychee green tea in either regular or large (which I recommend if you're REALLY craving it haha) and the fries are delicious! Definitely going to miss coming to this little boba shop but would recommend to anyone out there who wants to enjoy their milk tea/snacks in a nice and quiet environment :) read more

Actually I'm reviewing their snacks rather than their drinks. In my opinion they have the best fried chicken wings and tofu from a tea shop in the Bay Area. Compared to Quickly's sautéed chicken their wings are much less greasy. Some may say it is not salty enough but I just love it so don't argue with me :-). You need to add pepper and chilli to fit your taste bud. As for their fried tofu I still can't figure out how they make it looks so pretty. Crispy outside and soft inside. Perfect!! I can't be as enthusiastic for their drinks though. I frequent this shop for many many years back in those days I had no better choice. They put way too much cream that covers any taste from the tea. The balance is the first thing to make a good cup of milk tea from not do good ones. Their recipe probably fits the younger customers better though.
