Read their clauses in their contract carefully. In hindsight I feel a full service provider such as Hogue Landscape or similar companies may make more sense as they grade, do a free design, install, check your irrigation rather than show up with a bunch of trees of debatable quality & wish you luck. If you read their response, you will see the onus they put on the buyer as in daily monitoring their trees, keeping a log etc. Well, most people have a job, kids etc & do not sit in the backyard with a journal all day recording each leaf that falls. bottom line - Verdant installed 28 trees of which 26 died in a month!! Ignoring their loooong list of excuses, if that makes sense or is acceptable, then i guess that's that . I blew $15,000 with them and had to redo my backyard with someone with experience and my yard now looks terrific. dm me for pics or lessons learnt. Good luck with your project! read more

last week I purchased a 45 gallon Drummond red maple (Acer rubrum drummondi) from Verdant Tree Farm. I didnt even go to the location. I called and ordered over the phone and left the tree selection to Carrie. Trusted her to pick a nice tree. A few days later a team of tree guys came and professionally planted the tree in my front yard. Nice guys. Especially Israel. Within 30-40 minutes the tree was in the ground. Beautiful. decent size. full. Carrie did pick a great tree for us. we could not be more happy. I was replacing a 25 year old red oak which was uprooted during the recent Houston storms. Spent time and energy to go to this farm. Went in and asked for help for a $3500 tree. Was told to go wander the yard and he would be out. We went out and tried to find them. They left us at there in 95 Houston heat for 30 minutes. So we just walked back to the truck and left. Yard is run down, trees laying over and all the tree signage is gone so you can't tell what anything is or the price. Very poorly run. Based on other negative reviews we had a similar experience. this is the place to buy your trees! a big selection. very friendly people. I bought a tree. a year later, it didn't bloom. I asked them about that. they said come on in. it was my fault the tree didn't make it. it was a year to the date, and Patrick Amery helped me and honored my warranty and replaced the tree with a new one. they came out a couple weeks later. removed the old one, and planted the new one. could not ask for better service! I found some nasty, HUGE fire ants in the pot / dirt so be careful. 5. Don't bother signing up via email for a free tree through their site. I'm mixed about this place after my first visit based on customer service. I spent weeks narrowing in on a tree based on size, cost, and soil type. Verdant's website says they have it. Make a special trip. Enter. Guy behind the counter (Didn't catch his name) was clueless if they had it. I mention the website, he tells me its not accurate. Left me hanging. I had to ask if I could see what they had. Another guy comes out of an office and says they have it. Turns out, they have a whole ROW of them. Got exactly what I wanted! I cannot say enough good things about our Verdant experience. The service from our first visit through after the install has been impeccable. We had some last minute changes due to spacing, needed extra stonework (they had to call 5 stone yards to find a match), and needed irrigation work. Patrick was very easy to reach and communicate with throughout the process. Our installation foreman, Frank, was incredibly kind and patient while I wanted to see a tree rotated or scooter to the right, or maybe the left, or maybe where it started. I give 5 stars for the single reason that Verdant stood by their warranty. A lot of things can happen to a tree once it is installed. An owner could neglect the tree in some way and Verdant has no way of knowing this. Disease, pests, weather, etc. They take a risk with every sale. We had some bad luck with our first tree and Verdant replaced it. Verdant is a big farm, they sell to large clients like apartments and golf courses. We homeowners don't have but a few trees in us, as a rule. Yet Verdant took the time to deal with us. A huge relief. Moreover, they will plant your tree and give advice. Be advised this is not a retail nursery, so be patient with them and they will get to you. Go in the office, help yourself to a drink and walk around the many trees they have. If you are like us, you will want to visit more than once anyway because their stock is always changing. Verdant stands by their product. read more

There should be a 10 star rating for the service we received. Where do I start? I contacted Verdant Farms as I was looking for a few trees to put around our just finished pool. I had a local landscape company quote us and that's how I ended up looking for more options. I went around to a tree farm located all over Htown and their prices were extremely high for what I wanted. During my search I ran across Verdant Farms. I called and Fran got all the information, called me back right away with a quote for a more reasonable price.. That was a great start. I was curious to ask about full landscape service. She asked for my budget and sent me a design with the trees we wanted and managed to stick to my budget. I inquired about full landscape service (redo sprinkler system in the backyard, sod, pavers, etc). They do it all!!! Set a date for installation, trees in and all great! Day 2 irrigation system guy, James, comes in and uncovered LOTS of problems caused by our pool company (not capped lines, digged sprinklers, digged valves and that caused the irrigation system project to take 2 full days. James managed to repair without adding extra zones. During all this time (Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday) Fran was present making sure everyone knew what needed to be done and taking care of any questions or requests I had. The owner, Patrick, showed up day 3 to make sure we were happy with the outcome. He rolled up his sleeves and started helping the crews. I am very particular about how I want things done. Used to be such a fan of this tree farm. Their customer service lately is nonexistent at best. Which is very sad since we've purchased palm trees there 3 different times. Every time we have a problem with our new trees, the owner is less than helpful to come out and see what the problem is. We've had trouble with this batch ever since they were delivered. One tree was destroyed at the bottom because of the way they mistreated the tree during delivery. Took them months to come out and trim the bottom of the tree. Now a different tree is dying due to what he says is getting too much water. You would think that someone who spent thousands of dollars there and paid additional money to have them installed, and also has referred people to them would at least get treated a little better?? I guess not. Never ever again will I spend thousands at their farm. read more

Updated review: My magnolia and red maple I bought from this placed survived Harvey, the snow, the freezing, and the icing! My heart is so happy seeing the maple lose leaf then growing back leaves this past month. My magnolia I don't think ever lost leaves. Money well spent here ------ Easy smooth process and honest place. This place was actually my second place of choice to buy trees. I previously went to another tree farm originally but that place was not open according to their business hours so we left. I remember driving past this huge place on the way home one day a few weeks back and decided to check it out to see if they have what we want. Uh yes they do. This place is huge! They have everything! Prices are much lower than Big Tex. Only discount on planting charge if you buy multiple. We wanted 2 45-gal of 2 types of tree, Patrick recommended that 35-gal and 45-gal for one of the trees is not much of the difference in size but big difference in price and that we should go with the 35-gal. I appreciate the honesty. Schedule date to have them planted and that was it! They show up early and planting 3 trees took them approximately only 1-1.5 hour. P/S: The place is dirt and gravel and can be muddy after rain so don't dress to impress with your best shoes when you shop here. read more

He came from behind the front desk so I do think he was just a regular employee. We started thinking about getting a pool 6-8 months ago. I wanted to research and plan ahead to get an idea of the design/landscaping and how much the total project would cost. I first went to BigTex and got a ballpark price range of a couple mexican fan palms and queens. I got an astronomical quote. At that point, I did not think I would be able to afford to put any palms in the design. I then stumbled across Verdant's website after looking at a number of other palm tree providers. I called and talked to Patrick. I told him I was pretty far out from actually buying anything, but he STILL spent his time answering my questions and educating me. He gave me his cell phone number and answered random questions I would think of throughout the months. He put together a rough estimate of some palms and told me all the negatives of Mexican Fan Palms. He recommended Florida Sabals that were about the same price, didn't grow exponentially, and were thornless. He told me he had both kinds and left it up to me. When we got closer to choosing a pool builder, I went out to the farm and looked at the palms. I got pricing on many other species and he told me the pros and cons of each kind. I really liked the look of the medjool date palms better than the florida sabals, but they cost so much more. I also really wanted queen palms, but after Houston had a bad freeze I began doubting putting them in the design because so many people I know lost them in the freeze. Patrick made some recommendations and I did some more research. We finally broke ground on the pool and I went to pick out some palms. Patrick found some Medjools on the property that would fit my budget and worked with me to get a extremely reasonable package price including install that fit my budget. During the build, we scheduled the plant install a few weeks out, but my pool foreman didn't want the plumber to lay pipes and have the bobcat run over them for the palm install. So the pool build progress was halted...waiting for the palms to be installed. Patrick worked his magic and got our install date moved up and worked with our builder's schedule to expedite the process. On palm install day, Frank and his crew came out and did the install. He worked diligently and knew how to handle the bobcat through many TIGHT spots even with a 10 ft 2-3000lb palm in tow. One of the palms had some deterioration from an ant colony that we didn't notice when we picked it out. I called Patrick up and told him. He immediately offered to leave it on the truck and pick out another one and he would return to install it. I cannot express the level of satisfaction I have with the way Patrick and Verdant have dealt with me through this process. He has been overly kind and generous with his wealth of knowledge on palms. He never got tired of my calls or questions and those are the things I believe are important. It's not just about the money with Verdant. They fully guarantee their palms (if they install it and not against freezes). I have and will continue to recommend Verdant to everyone I know. The only bad thing I can say is I pretty much ruined my shoes walking through their lot. It's almost entirely mud and a messy ride home. Spent a month looking for a Live Oak tree during holiday season. It was nearly impossible to find anything but Christmas trees. Called Shades of Texas and they said they have some but my mistake for not asking what size since most sizes were listed as available on their site. After a 30 minute drive I sadly discovered they only had my tree in 30-40 gallon sizes, for 5x the price I expected to pay. But Verdant saved the day. They had exactly the size I was looking for, and plenty of them at a fair price. The guy even loaded it professionally in my truck for me. Thanks Verdant! Mike came out and evaluated our property for the trees I had in mind. He made a couple suggestions that I had not considered. After a quick estimate, we visited the tree farm to pick out the trees that Mike suggested, including Loblolly Pine, Japanese Blueberry, and Soft-shell Pecan. Listen to some of the other reviews that warn you to wear rubber boots. The place can be harrowing after a good rain. The trees were delivered and planted the next week. Frank, the foreman for the planting crew, was professional and courteous. He was willing to help me suggest placement of the trees for optimal privacy, moving them many times. They explained their method of evaluating water consumption, cleaned up, and left my yard looking so much better. After they left, I noticed a major branch in one pecan tree was cracked down the trunk. With a quick email to Mike, the crew returned within 2 days with a new tree. These guys go beyond the usual nursery. I did a lot of research on prices and warranties, and Verdant was by far the best. Plus they back up their promises. What more can you ask of a company?
