I live in student housing and all of my classes are online. I often have to stay up rather late to do homework and studying because of my work schedule as well. First, we had constant ping spikes and internet drops on all of my and my roommates' devices. Second, as I mentioned before, I have to stay up late for school studying. Almost always, between the hours of 1:30 am to 3 am, the internet completely goes off the rails. I can't connect, and if I do, apparently it just swings back and forth between connected and not until I wait it out. You might think, why not call them? Oh, I did. When the problems first persisted, I had to link the router directly to my laptop to test the ping. Minor ping spikes and other things were detected. Alright, they'll send a tech out by the end of the week. A week passes, nothing. Get a phone call message and the person asks how the tech's visit was. What?! I respond but only got to them after hours. A few days pass, and they do a second check-in to see how the visit went, almost as if they didn't get my message. I call back, get ahold of someone else and ask them to pass the message on, that no tech came. Few days pass again, another message left. "Since I haven't responded, we're going to close your ticket. If you have any other issues, please call us back." I was so done by this point, it wasn't even worth the trouble. read more

The promise of fiber optics to the house sounds great on paper. In reality it doesn't deliver that much. I had to sign a very one-sided contract to get internet service in Traverse Mountain in Lehi. They promised me a 60 Mbps service. At best I see 50+ which is still acceptable. But I rarely get that. More typical is something in the 20 Mbps range, but frequently it drops to 3 or less. Anecdotally the poor throughput happens around midnight. Recently they've experienced complete outages which kind of a big deal when your livelihood depends on a connection. Currently as write this there appears to be a DNS issue wherein certain domain names won't resolve and the dreaded 404 error shows up for sites like Wikipedia. (Confirmed it was veracity issue by looking up affected sites by using smartphone on AT&T's network.) What prompted this review is their abysmal customer service. I just called in to either alert them to the issue or get an ETA of restored service. Their system keeps disconnecting me when I push the keys for residential technical support. In previous support call attempts I can't ever recall a single incident where I didn't have to leave a voicemail to be contacted later. Their support hours are also very limited so if you're working on a deadline at 2 AM and the system goes down, you're just out of luck until the morning. If possible be sure to seek out other options before committing to a one-year agreement. read more

I'm joining the ranks of everyone here complaining about this hillbilly country bumpkin UT based ISP! They SUCK! They don't have the slightest idea about anything tech related in UT. Complete ignoramuses! They're just a bunch of know nothing bumpkins that "think" they know more than any other company but seriously don't! I've had their service by force from the apartment complexes I've rented at. Each place said I have "4 gigs" but it runs like dial up & keeps timing out! I'm glad others have complained too. They don't really have tech support with any type of IT credentials, that understands issues or how to fix their crappy systems. They blame it on your equipment rather than their crappy service & equipment! I was left on hold numerous times for more than 30 mins. waiting for 1 person to help figure out why I'm getting less than 4 gigs. I barely scrape the 50 upload/download they claim is good. When I had AT&T I had 1 gig & when I performed speed tests got 900+. So please don't tell me 50 for 4 gigs is good or adequate! I called my router manufacturer, went to talk to a tech support co. in person & took my router with me that cost $200+, the tech guy said I have a top notch router & he never heard of Veracity! He said the problem is them not the router. I have to agree! I told them I was coming out here to complain about their F'd up service, they said that was my prerogative. I agreed but am taking my complaint a step further. If you have other options use them! I thought TDS was bad but no one I've talked to has had any issues with their service just the customer service portion to TDS. TDS sucks but I'd much rather have TDS than this BS low budget dial up hillbilly internet service. They fed us the same "fiber optics" BS. I've had fiber optics with cable companies & only 1 gig speed but it worked like a charm no matter how much I had plugged into the modem. The wireless portion of their service constantly crashes all damn day if I'm trying to watch TV while working. So basically I spent $300 total buying equipment to make their piece of shit internet service work & guess what? It still doesn't work! One of my neighbors at the prior complex told me the service in their building was down all day, I moved days before it happened, it was the only building that was out & her son was unable to attend zoom classes due to that. The internet there was worse than what I have now! It was constantly timing out, I wasn't able to get it working much of the time. The complex management & owner offered zero apologies but charged us $80 a mo. for BS internet service refusing to refund any of us for the issues. I paid $45 a mo. for AT&T & had better service in CA. When I moved into the other complex in early March 2021 in UT we had NO internet for 2 WEEKS with zero follow up to the tenants or updates! Yet they kept moving people in & didn't give a damn what we did or didn't have. I work remote from home so reliable internet is a must. But if you go with this band of dumb asses you won't have service 80% of the time or speeds up to the lie they tell 99% of the time. My email is always crashing & timing out. That's with it hard wired! Here's my advice: DON'T GO WITH THESE CLOWNS! If you're moving some where that doesn't offer internet but only has this co., I suggest you find some place else to move & make sure you find out first what services are offered in the area. Just had our internet replaced at my apartment complex from Google Fiber to Veracity. Google Fiber wasn't perfect but it worked fine. Veracity cuts out for hours at a time with no explanation and we no longer have access to our routers for port forwarding so my server was taken down. After calling they explained that they simply don't allow it. Nothing good to say about Veracity other than that they answer their phones. Not much help when they do though. read more

Would give negative stars if possible. Company has been bought multiple times, currently owned by First Digital. Long time customer. Since being absorbed by First Digital have had multiple connectivity issues, drop rate is abysmally high, multiple instances of email being unavailable FOR WEEKS/MONTHS, promised callbacks never happen, passing the blame when confronted, etc. Dial up is vetter than these people. Took 3 weeks to get them to call back for installation. Received my first bill April 1st 2020. July 4, 2020 I am still waiting for a call back to set up my account and pay the bills. They have a monopoly in the area I live and they do NOT offer ANY type of customer service. The company I've worked at for 2 years has used Veracity for at least that long a time...and not a day goes by that my web-based job isn't completely halted or brought to a crawl several times over. We either have constant outages or are brought to our knees, when it comes to internet speed. Kind of frustrating when I'm trying to do my job and meet deadlines. Having the internet be so sporadic and unreliable just isn't what I'd imagine I'd want as a business. And before any network or IT guys get on here and troubleshoot me, mine is the office right next to one of our strongest routers. Originally when our HOA started using Veracity it was AWFUL, but after four years they finally seemed how to work out the bugs that plagued us for years. We get semi-consistent speeds of 90 up and down. Every so often it will go down and stays down for the better part of the day. read more

Worst customer service I've ever experienced with a company. This is also not me ranting about something minor that I'm too mad about. I've had major issues with their connection in my Provo home and they've just told me that I needed to change DNS settings, switch routers, etc. I've done all that and more but it's NEVER their problem and they refuse to send a technician out to my home. I can't access the iTunes app store, the mac app store, or even sites like Wells Fargo (my bank.) They even responded to one of my emails with a bunch of links to Apple troubleshooting pages - as if it's Apple's problem. The only reason I'm staying with them is for the hope of, maybe one day, experiencing full-fledged fiber speeds. Can't wait for Google to come to town. read more

They don't fix their problems and they charge outrageous termination fees and provide poor customer service. As an alternative provider, Xmission has no contracts, you can cancel anytime and they provide great customer service. I put them in the same boat as Comcast. Both scumbag companies. To add insult to injury, they charged me a 350$ cancel fee after I had put up with them for THREE years! And they are sending me adverts in the mail asking me to switch to Veracity. Real class act. I exclusively work from home. It took weeks and weeks to even get someone to pick up the phone to schedule service when calling their office. When I did finally get a call back they told me to on their website to sign up. I did. Then nothing for weeks more. I finally got a call back a month later telling me that I filled out an old form I their website and that I needed to redo everything. I redid everything and they scheduled an install two weeks later. The install went ok and I added backup power to every piece of equipment that needed to be in for connectivity. I'm afraid that their complacency and lack of customer service is going to bite me again when there is a service problem. Please organize your company to be customer service focused and deliver. Horrible customer service. I had a card change and didn't realize my autopay stopped working. Veracity never called me, and the only notice I saw was a shutoff email as I don't always get my physical mail. When I called the staff were rude and unhelpful I finally spoke with a supervisor who took my card and told me he would reinstate autopay. Today with no additional emails or phone communication they shut of my account. Apparently the supervisor did nothing and never had the decency to call if there was an issue as he had promised. The rep tonight at 8 refused to do anything and told me nothing could be done until morning. Overall lack of communication and complete lack of any desire to help thier customers. read more

Veracity is awful. AWFUL!!! AWFUL!! their internet speeds are falsely advertised, their TV service is 10 years outdated for what they offer.... just awful from every end. my internet suddenly and inexplicably stopped working after downloading some windows updates. I would have pegged this as the issue, but it was affecting my xbox as well as my pc, so I KNOW it is not a pc issue, it IS an issue with the Utopia/Veractiy crap-fest. The dns server suffix keeps resetting itself to a faulty belkin device.... I personally do not own a single belkin device, nor does one exist anywhere on my network. I have had to address the issue with their abysmal tech support 3 days in a row and keep getting told that they will look at the issue and get back to me by the end of the day. As of yet they have never made any attempt to contact me. I have, over the course of the last 9 months had to contact Veracity Networks customer support for issues almost twice a month, with any action or result taking anywhere from a few days, up to a week to resolve issues. As a previous Comcast customer, who only had to call for issue 1-2 times a year and getting instant help and results, I am flabbergasted and at my limit. My upgraded 50d/50u service realistically only runs at about 5-10mbps, their limits being advertised incorrectly through manipulative server use when testing broadband. The worst and absolutely most frustrating part about the whole thing is that VERACITY/UTOPIA is the ONLY high-speed broadband allowed in my HOA condo complex. This should be illegal. read more

(Veracity TV) In addition to my previous review (see below), the TV service offered by Veracity is abysmal--and that's putting it nicely. I live in a bldg. with Veracity as the only option by for TV and Internet. The TV converter box looks like something from the 1980's, and has about that level of technology in it, as well. Getting the TV hooked up was a nightmare--due to the aforementioned Customer Service issues. But the worst part of Veracity TV is the horrific broadcast signals that I get. Most supposed HD channels are broadcast in 480 to 720 dpi, instead of the 1040 dpi as advertised. Plus, the choice of HD channels is pathetic, when compared to Comcast, Dish or DirecTv. However, the very worst aspect of Veracity TV is the constant broadcast freezes that occur on a too regular basis. On average, during a one hour show, the image freezes 2-3 times; and when it returns, it doesn't show what was missed, but instead, goes to the real-time broadcast. Some channels are worse than other, too. While I was recently watching the NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship on an ESPN channel, the broadcast froze literally every 30 seconds or so once it had unfrozen. This lasted the entire 1.5 hour match! In all, I probably saw about 20 minutes of this Championship match. Absolutely ridiculous!!! In another instance, I was watching a Seattle Sounders match and in the first half (forty five minutes), my broadcast froze twenty two times! (I actually counted it!). Whenever I call and ask about it, I get the same runaround that it's my fault, my TV's fault, etc. Veracity is never at fault for their crappy service. As far as cost, for the quality of service, Veracity is probably the most expensive TV broadcast company that I know of. I wish I were making this one up, folks; but I can't write better than this real life experience! Veracity is AWFUL!!! --- --- --- --- --- --- --- (Veracity ISP) No kidding...Veracity is THE WORST ISP I have ever had the misfortune of doing business with. Their "Customer Service" is a joke, and most of their reps have no clue about fixing issues. More often than not they will bounce your call to another dept. who will just bounce it back to the call center you initially contacted, who will just end up transferring it...you get the point. And after business hours--and on the weekends--you are sent to some random (and unaffiliated) call center whose operators merely take your name and number so they can pass it on to Veracity on the next business day. If you have a choice of ISP's, do whatever you must to avoid signing on with Veracity. Great data speeds, AWFUL service. read more

To say Veracity sucks would probably be the understatement of the century in my books. I am on a 100 Mbps plan but normally get less than 50 Mbps download speeds. Recently my speeds have hovered around 5 Mbps, which needless to say sucks really bad. I use the internet mostly for business so this impacts me greatly. I called customer support 4 times, and each time someone answered, then immediately hung up. Techs sometime do this when busy to improve their internal stats. I then called sales and got them to put me through to a tech support manager. After waiting almost 20 minutes on hold I hung up. I have been in business for over 25 years and usually the COO would have been fired if they led an organization this bad. The company has a bad reputation, at least in the area I live in. You would think after over 6 years they would want to improve. I guess not. I Unfortunately in the past we had no other options in my area, but hopefully that isn't the case anymore. read more

When it works, the service has been giving us up to about 50Mbps down and almost 100Mbps up - this is probably how they call it a 100Mbps plan when it's really a 50Mbps service (except during frequent slowdowns) Who cares about high upload speed? Unfortunately, when it doesn't work customer support is non-existent except during normal business hours - there is no technical support in the evening or on weekends. We have experienced outages that often occur on evenings and weekends and, when that happens, we're essentially disconnected from the world - our home business is down, which makes this service disastrous for business use. Also, unfortunately, we live on Traverse Mountain and there is no alternative, it's a monopoly and we're unwilling captives of Veracity. If there is an equipment failure on their side, the wait can be more than a day to get a remedy. As many others have commented, this company is REALLY bad. I've been using Veracity Networks internet services for over 4 years and have been very happy. I work from home so having a fast, reliable internet service provider is critical. Advertised speeds are accurate and available, any time of day. Also, I've never experience an unscheduled outage that has lasted more than a few minutes. Their Customer Service team has been responsive, knowledgable and easy to work with, both via telephone and email. I highly recommend Veracity Networks! read more

Our apartment gets cable through Veracity, and the cable went out on a Wednesday. I called them later in the day, and they said their technician had been notified about it and would come out and fix it. After more than 24 hours had passed and we still didn't get a single channel, I called again Thursday evening. They said their guy was scheduled to fix it on Friday morning. Well, Friday morning came and went, and I sent an email to their customer support later in the day, but have yet to receive a response the day after. I also called yet again on Saturday morning, and was told their guy will fix it on Monday. Yeah, I bet he will. (UPDATE: It got fixed sometime Monday afternoon/evening) I also had Veracity for internet years ago and remember having a ton of bad experiences with them back then. Maybe their internet is more reliable now, I don't know (we use a different company for internet), but I kept having to call them back then, and finally resorted to driving to their actual office just so I could get some customer service. read more

The company I work for switched to Veracity hosted VOIP in March 2015 and compared to our previous provider, they are top notch. Customer service and follow up is excellent. The quality of our phone service went up substantially. The cost was reasonable and I would certainly use them over Comcast or Centurylink. I interviewed 4 different companies and Veracity was the only one who bothered putting a professional presentation together to earn our business. They have delivered on everything we asked for. read more

terrible terrible service and customer support... my internet went out Thursday afternoon called veracity, they had me plug in my laptop to the Ethernet cable on my router, got ISP and tried to ping... they said they'd get back to me about it... no call back on Friday called them again to follow up, they said their tech people were on it and will give me a call back,... they didn't. They just let it spill on the week end where they were closed. Monday, I called them again first thing in the morning and they said a tech was coming to our site(not to my home) and they would give me a call back by 5 pm... its 5 right now, I just called them back. They said the tech couldn't find anything wrong(this is my 4th day without internet service) had me connect my laptop to the Ethernet again to get the ISP, and they said they would get back to me. No one in their customer service took ownership of my problem. I had to explain again and again every time i called, never got a call back. They don't bother to record the conversations of the customer services. This is how people lose internet service for 5 days without being helped by their provider. avoid this company at all cost.
