In my part of Utah County you get horrible speeds with the phone company or pretty fast download,…read morebut horrible upload with the cable company. Plus, they charge an arm and a leg for it. Utopia finally came to the neighborhood and I could not be happier. They installed quickly, and the service has been flawless so far. There is a large selection of ISPs available, but most of them are suspect in my mind. XMission is the only one with a total usage cap. However, even as a heavy user I've not hit it. By having the cap, it's easier to handle people who abuse the bandwidth setting up spam servers or torrent servers. They are also the only one meeting state of the art security standards like SOC2. Back to Utopia. It just works. I have 250Mbs up and down. That allows me to do full backups of my home to the Cloud. I could never do that with the pitiful upload speed the competition has. Plus it's far cheaper.

What concerns me is that no one contacted me beforehand, left a notice, knocked on my door, or otherwise informed me that work would be taking place on my property frontage. I had seen crews working across the street to provide service to new neighbors, but I had no idea that work would also affect my yard. When I spoke with the workers, I was told this is the only access box on the street and that if additional neighbors request UTOPIA service in the future, similar work may need to be done again. In addition, the work area has obstructed access along the sidewalk. We have small children in the neighborhood who regularly ride their bikes, scooters, and play along this route. Today, the excavation and equipment created an unexpected obstacle and safety concern for children and pedestrians using the sidewalk. As a homeowner, I believe residents deserve advance notification when construction or excavation will impact their property, even if it is within a utility easement. A simple notice would have allowed neighbors to plan accordingly and be aware of any temporary disruptions or safety concerns. I would appreciate an explanation of the notification process, what steps will be taken to restore the area, and whether residents can expect additional disruptions in the future if other homeowners request UTOPIA service. In addition to the pictures from this afternoon... I have posted a picture of what utopia could do in the future to protect homeowners and children and community people from getting hurt Thank you for your attention to this matter.
