Sauls work

I've been meaning to write the review for a while now! I first reached Saul March of 2023 when a previous contract services were subpar and I needed someone to finish installing a cabinet and microwave attached to the kitchen vent. He came and did it in less than a couple of hours and the cost was very fair! Earlier this month I reached out to help finishing installing some doors after they were harder to install on our own than we thought. Saul sent one of his team members, Jonathan, to help us finish the project. He arrived on time and completed the job AND checked our work on the doors we did install and made adjustments. He left the area clean, almost like no construction work was ever done. The work was done in a very timely manner! All in all Saul has come in to fix other contractors mistake at a very fair price. The work is well done and I will continue to call on him for future projects!

Master bathroom after remodel

We decided to go with Saul the owner of Venova Construction. From the beginning we always felt that Saul and his team would be a good fit, and boy did we make the right decision. Not only did Saul and his team do a complete tear down and remodel of our two bathrooms, his also installed a new sump pump with trenching along the foundation in my crawl space, removing approximately 3.5 yards of dirt, his team also did a complete re piping ( replacing all galvanized with copper) all work completed in approximately 8 weeks. One of things I appreciate about Saul and his team is how they handle adversity. When there were questions or concerns that arose during the construction, Saul addressed them promptly. At the onset of this project, we must admit, we did work an interior designer, who assisted with the design and permit process and submission (andrea@mysoftdesign.com) I highly recommend Venova Construction. Let the pictures speak for themselves

Wendy and Saúl of VENOVA Construction did an impeccable job on this project. We wanted to remove our long-defunct dishwasher and build a cabinet in its place that would match the existing kitchen cabinets (which are probably 40 years older or more) in style and color. No small feat! As you can see on my review profile, one contractor (NOT VENOVA) came and assessed the work, provided me with an oral quote, and promised to provide it in writing, then ghosted on me. I reached out to VENOVA, and what followed was a corrective experience and exemplary in every sense. Saúl came out, reviewed the project, asked all the right questions, and provided me with an oral quote. Wendy (who flawlessly managed all of the administrative aspects of the project) confirmed the quote by email and we accepted it. We set a date and time for Saúl to complete the work, and he showed up on time, masked, and shoes covered. Contractors often bail on a project when their suppliers fail to fulfill their commitments. Not Saúl. First the lumber yards that had promised him the lumber turned out not to have it in stock. Luckily, after a relentness search, he was able to source a new pre-built kitchen cabinet that matched the space. He returned with the cabinet and a color reference chart, and together we found a stain color that perfectly matched the existing cabinets. Unfortunately, when Saúl went to pick up the stain, the store mixed the color wrong. (I saw the chart, and I saw the paint he got with the name and number we had selected, and it was definitely the fault of the paint store and not Saúl's.) Yet again, Saúl did not despair. We agreed that he would temporarily stain the cabinet in the mismatched color he had been given, then return on his next available day with the correct color to restain and clearcoat it. This meant extra work for Saúl, but not only did he not complain; he even took 20% off the original estimate because the cabinet was prebuilt. He even hauled away the dead dishwasher at no extra cost! Saúl completed the job masterfully (along with his skilled teenage assistant), and the result speaks for itself. Have a look at the Before and After images. I recommend NOVA Construction unreservedly. Much gratitude to Wendy and Saúl.

Great people for doing a great job on your project! Very professional and reliable. I have recommended them to a lot of people. Saul and the team are the best in the profession.

Saul and his crew installed a beautiful shower for us, as part of a larger renovation at our home.

I've had Damon & his crew (Carlos, Carlitos, Marcos, Samuel) do a couple jobs for me now (these…read morethings tend to snowball, ugh, lol) & they've always done top-notch work. I had a fan in my master bathroom crap out on me, which was weird, since I only bought my place 4 years ago, it was newly remodeled, & I even remodeled some more on top of that. My wife pointed out it wasn't working, but it looked new to me, so I popped the cover to find out...not new at all. New COVER over a fan that was a year younger than the missus. Uh oh. The old "lipstick on a pig" boogie from the prior owners/ seller. Damn. Hate getting hoodwinked. So, I think "well, better check the 'new' fan in the guest bath too." Pop THAT shiny, nice cover & ...same drill but even OLDER. Some mid-80's (I think) giant 13" circular fan they don't even make anymore. Double ugh. Last stop: laundry room. Final fan, pop the cover...whew, it's actually a new-ish fan. 1 outta 3 ain't bad, right? /sigh So I put out the feelers for an electrician (I had 2 dead outlets, 1 indoor, 1 outdoor as well) & after doing the "online quote" thing w/ Yelp, I got in touch w/ Damon @ Berkeley Home Repair. Funny dude, super helpful, quick & responsive. He schedules his electrician, Carlitos, to come out ASAP, for what I think is gonna just be a basic fan install & outlet fix job. Nope. Carlitos goes into the attic & discovers the ducts are all wrong. 3 fans running thru 2 ducts, both bathrooms on the same 4" line, & laundry room on some weird 3" duct. Now, you can get away with 4", but 6" is code & preferred, & every fan has to be on its own dedicated/ independent duct, or you're just blowing moisture from room to room & into the attic. Not good. We crawl the attic together & confirm I need a 3rd roof penetration & new ducts. So much for cheap & easy. Damn. Damon adjusts the bid (as gently as possible, considering my costs just went up almost 10x) & I wind up with 2 brand new Panasonic Whisper Quiet fans (amazing. Almost TOO quiet), a new roof penetration & cap, new independent 6" ducts for each fan, an excellent sheetrock patch & paintjob on my guest bath ceiling (prior, old-timey fan was just way too huge compared to current models) AND Carlitos fixed both dead power outlets (one of which turned out to be an arcing short/ broken wire inside the wall, which we were lucky to catch before a fire). All the workers were amazing to work with & did great on their specific parts of the now much larger order. Everyone worked quickly &, despite the gig snowballing far beyond the expected, Damon priced fairly & had the work done as fast as possible with minimal intrusion & inconvenience (crucial during these pandemic "work from home" times) Tho it was obviously a bummer to have a small job turn into a much bigger & more expensive one, I always felt like I was in good hands with Damon, his communication was clear, direct, quick & honest, & the outcome was excellent. I'll definitely be using Berkeley Home Repair for future work, since homeownership often means nasty surprises like the one I got ain't all that rare, unfortunately. Heh. At least now I know who to call to get sorted fairly & quickly. Thanks fellas! Will try to post pics when I get a chance...but most of this was "behind the scenes" work, or what my buddy likes to call "invisible money", heh.

In fact, on the call he said I could text or email him and I asked specifically which mode he preferred - he said that text would get the fastest response. So I texted. No response. Called a couple times. No reply. This place has either closed or has awful customer service and communication. I'm grateful that I didn't spend long on this company but I still wish I could get my time and energy back spent schmoozing this guy who would end up ghosting me Edit: I got a notification 35 minutes after posting this review that he commented and I couldn't be happier that I left one star. San Francisco Remodel - Foundation Replacement

After consulting with a few different teams to deal with some serious leaking at our front stairs and rear door, we decided to go with David and the SF Remodel team. Their proposal was the most reasonable, and we especially appreciated that they specialize in water intrusion and mold remediation, which were our two biggest headaches. David, Saul, Jordan, and the entire crew were fantastic. They didn't just patch the problem; they fixed the root cause. They pulled out the old stairs, rebuilt them with proper flashing and drainage, and sealed everything with an elastomeric membrane. They also replaced all the damaged drywall underneath and added a moisture barrier, cement, and extra drainage as a failsafe. The real test came right after they finished: we had a massive rainstorm, and I'm happy to report we didn't see a single drop of water leak through. Overall, the team was professional, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, extremely responsive and communicative. We're already talking to them about a much bigger project to add a bedroom and bath in our garage. We couldn't recommend them enough!

They handled everything -- planning, architecture, permits, inspections, and construction -- which made a complex project much easier to navigate. The finished space matches what I had envisioned, both functionally and aesthetically. Throughout the process, the team was consistently nice, honest, and flexible. They were easy to work with, willing to accommodate changes, and I never felt pressured or intentionally misled. Their direct employees, in particular, did excellent work and were professional on site. There were a couple of drawbacks that keep this from being a full five stars. First, the project took significantly longer than expected. There didn't seem to be much formal project management, so it was often unclear when work would happen or who would be coming by. If you value tight schedules and proactive communication, you may need to push for updates. Second, the subcontractors they used weren't top-tier. The plumbers and electricians I've worked with independently were faster and more reliable. Again, their in-house crew was great -- the inconsistency mainly came from subs. That said, the final result is excellent, and I would use SF Remodel again -- just with clearer expectations about timeline and subcontractor quality going in.

We interviewed 4 companies for our project; which was a bedroom refresh (including removing popcorn from the ceiling) and a full bathroom remodel. All of the companies were around the same as far as cost for what we wanted on the bathroom. One of the companies didn't seem to want the bedroom part of the project and were really over charging for it. One of the representatives couldn't seem to keep times and dates straight, so we were down to two companies. We have never done a remodeling project like this and I had A LOT of questions. Shay at Home Quality Remodeling took the time to answer the many questions that I had, and he came back multiple times to lay out what we wanted. He was low pressure and patient, and he really seemed to want the business. So we went with him. Shay spent a lot of time explaining processes that I didn't really understand...I'm sure that I tried his patience more than a few times. Like many people, we went into this remodel project imagining all of the things that can go wrong and an idealized version of what we wanted. While there were a few hiccups, everything was completed ahead of schedule and totally to our satisfaction. The team who was on site doing all of the work were courteous and helpful. They cleaned up often and thoroughly and were willing to do more than required to make sure that the job was up to their exacting requirements. When all is said and done, we are very happy with the final result and wouldn't hesitate to have these guys do more work in the future. So I am adding to the five star review-although some of the processes were a challenge, the end result deserves no less than five stars I am somewhat embarrassed with the before pictures, you don't really see how bad things are until you see the improvement - from a 30 year old raising three boys beat the hell out of it bathroom to the new, luxurious bathroom that we have now.

This past year I hired Home Quality Remodeling to remodel my two upstairs bathrooms (the master…read morebath and guest bath). This included a complete demo of the master bath (including removing the tub and extending the shower) and partial demo of the guest bath. I was very happy and pleased with the results. From the beginning of the design phase through the final touches of the "punch list" my HQR Project manager, Ronnie Illan, was in constant contact with me. He helped me with materials questions, project timelines and even picked up some of the materials for me. From the beginning it was clear my satisfaction was his number one priority. The contractors HQR used on my project were equally friendly and easy to communicate with. Even when I made some changes in the middle of the remodel (which is bound to happen!) everyone was friendly and accommodating. In short, I was very pleased with the work HQR did and I would highly encourage others to include them when you are getting bids...I'm sure you won't be disappointed! Attached are pictures of both remodeled bathrooms. I've included pictures of the original master bath as well as the 3D rendering of the remodeled master bath BEFORE any work was done. Notice how close the new Master Bath is to the 3D rendering.

Wow. From the client…read moreside, construction often feels like Russian Roulette with a five-chamber revolver - you're probably gonna be OK, but far too often it explodes in your face. Too rarely, the experience transforms into a world-class meal in one of them fancy restaurants with stars that sound like tires. That was our experience with these folks. It's not that they were reasonably priced - they were. It's not that they actually did what they were supposed to do - shockingly in construction it's not a given, but yes, they did. It's not even that though once they pulled out the old stuff, they found layers of pipes and other crap that they needed to figure out and work around and could easily have claimed thousands for in cost overruns...but they didn't. All of these things on their own would have easily made them a five-star operation. But then they went above and beyond. The people working on the new floating deck were all wonderful. The grace they showed repeatedly as they needed to shift plans and figure out a new way to handle things midway were exemplary. The ingenuity in finding creative solutions to allow us to keep our trees or deal with some unexpectedly awkward angles that emerged was practically like having an architect on hand. This was a complex, difficult project in the hills. Roberto, the owner, was always so involved and just...there...when he was needed, plugged in the whole way through, pleasant and easy to work with. It all comes from the top, and his attitude clearly informed the crew. So no Russian Roulette here. We will without question bring them in again if we need another project like this. I already referred them out a couple of times since they completed the work a few weeks ago, and I'm writing this to let you know, too - zero hesitation in recommending them wholeheartedly. If there were a sixth star to hand out, I would.
