PORK CHOP with stone fruit chutney, rose and hazelnut dukkah
Brad O.

The pork chop here is THE BEST I've ever had at a restaurant. The chop was tender and perfectly cooked. The chutney had deep, rich tomato and mild Indian flavors. Portion size was generous. I will day dream about this thing! The server said this takes 35 minutes to cook, and it is worth the wait! My girlfriend also loved her CRESTE DI GALLO, which the server recommended. We also took the server's recommendation for an appetizer, the Beef Tartare. It was tender and savory with the toasted bread the perfect size for delivery. For dessert, we ordered the olive oil cake. The slice of cake was HUGE and would've been enough for four people. It was topped with a reddish pink, mildly sweet frosting that I *think* was rhubarb. Not entirely sure, but delicious regardless. Drinks were also delicious, but the food was tbe real star of the show! Service was attentive and the server gave great recommendations. Overall, phenomenal! Would highly recommend and look forward to returning soon!

I'm never one for absolutes, but Vendemmia has the best tasting menu in Seattle. From portion sizes to variety to to-go boxes packed in between courses; we struck a goldmine. We tried booking for Valentine's, and even a month beforehand we found ourselves stonewalled. Bookings are likely not as competitive during non- Holiday season. From protein to veggies drizzled in white chocolate to wagyu, each course beautifully complimented the other. They are portioned to perfection- we never felt too stuffed nor in need of a supplement. As a wine snob, I was impressed. I don't even like Chardonnay, but I liked their pairing. Happy Dining to all!

We were looking for someplace to meet up with some friends while in Seattle and so we made a reservation at Vendemmia...we're glad we did! Here is what we noticed: - Great set of cocktail options...I had the Rachel's White Negroni, which I still can't stop talking about. - The food was amazing! I started with the Snap Peas with Dungeness Crab and my wife got the Frisee & Radicchio salad...that salad was especially good. For our meals, I got the Tonnarelli and my wife got the Tagliatelle. Both were great but, again, my wife's won out! - Service was really good...we were spending a lot of time catching up with our friends and didn't feel rushed at all, but we also didn't feel neglected. - Location had a cool, modern vibe! Bottom line: Great food, great atmosphere, great service...what else can you ask for?

Very cool Italian spot with heavy French influence ... Had the halibut (or cod?)...was honey, apple motifed deliciousness ...alongside oysters for an appy, a bottle of rose Prosecco bubbles and tonarelli... and some gelato to wash it all down...the latter being the sole thing we ordered that would not inspire a repeat... Gaston (the name we gave the French owner) took over our table and delighted us with his hospitality and good humor...even after being tested with his views on the Macrons (French president and wife brigiiiite whom may or may not have been born with a cannoli whilst pretending to be born with a clam) he maintained a very affable disposition with just the right about of counsel, feedback and charm. Well done Gaston , well done !

This is a neighborhood part that we should go to more. It speciality is seafood and they do a great job. We had the salad and it was great as were the oysters. The cod was great as well. The location. Is lovely in Madrona with a nice quite location across from red cow and next to the Madrona bar. It's the kind of pal d we all want near us and a nice complement to red cow down the strett

Stopped to grab a bite with a friend and it happened to be restaurant week! Staff was very friendly and warm, the food was delicious! We shared our meals , we had a wonderful pork chop and rigatoni. The flavors were robust and comforting. Everything was beautiful as you can see in the photos. Also great portions! This place can get busy so service may be a tad slow , just keep in mind.

Best Italian food I've ever had in the United States! Pricy but not tooooo pricy, and well worth it. Food is flavorful, large portion, great service, and romantic atmosphere. Will be coming back soon.

This review is long overdue. Vendemmia is our go-to restaurant! We are always warmly welcomed by the staff. They go above and beyond to make our experience special. The waiters are very professional and always make great food and drink recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant is perfection. It's nicely lit, the seating is comfortable, and it never gets too loud. I also love the open kitchen where you can watch the chefs create magic! The food is impeccable. Every dish I have tried here has been a hit. Everything is so beautifully presented and all of the ingredients are incredibly fresh. My favorite dish is hands-down the spaghetti. I could eat this weekly!! I'm also a huge fan of the cocktails. They are perfectly balanced. My partner is obsessed with their selection of Negronis. Delish! They also have a great wine menu to choose from. I always look forward to dining here and make sure to recommend Vendemmia to friends and family. It's truly the best!

Service was excellent. Ambience was excellent. Food was excellent as well. Overall had a good date night! Will definitely be coming again. Would highly recommend the rigatoni pasta (lamb and beef bolognese, mint, mascarpone) The tonnarelli had delicate flavors and delicious but little too bland for me. The snap peas salad was refreshing and would recommend that. Wouldn't recommend the pear brandy (was not sweet at all) the mocktail I had was not fun (not sweet and too lemony and strong ) place had good wine options.

Lamb risotto

Great value for all the food you get on the chef's tasting menu. The food was well done, there was a great variety and a lot of it so we had to take home left overs. It's quaint inside too. Course 1: cod and baguette and a soft mozzarella with blueberries and bread. These were delicious and super filling! Course 2: baby carrots had a sweet purée that was very good. The radicchio was bitter and the sauce was a bit salty but some like that sort of thing. Course 3: lamb risotto was not games at all and quite nice. I usually don't like lamb but this was very good. cacio e pepe was so simple yet made so well. It was good! Course 4: duck and pork chop. Both were good but we were already so full from the previous 3 courses we couldn't finish. The duck was tender and not games at all. Again I typically don't like duck but this was good! Course 5: desserts. They gave us an extra one as we were celebrating a birthday. I'm not much of a sweets person but the mousse and gelato were a bit on the salty side. The tiramisu was nice. This was for the chefs tasting menu for 4 people. It was only $79 per person for all that food!

Snap peas with Dungeness crab, endive, chive, $19 – 2.5 Stars

We arrived at Vendemmia late on a Wed. The restaurant was, as expected, quiet with only one other table occupying the front of the restaurant. They sat the two of us at a two-person table anyway. It is a pet peeve of mine when they squeeze you into the smallest reasonable table when there are next-to-no-other diners in the entire restaurant. I decided not to ask for a roomier table. The restaurant is extremely dark (this will matter later). They save a lot of electricity there. I did consider asking to move to a table where I can see my food... Our waitstaff answered our question and gave recommendations. We specifically asked about size of main entrees and rather a pasta is needed. She also helped us later when we ran into a problem with the food. The Food: Columbia River Salmon, $44 - 4 Stars Menu: Served with summer squash, elderberries, romesco I took my first bite of the salmon, a 3/4-cm cut. I thought - that's oddly cool. Did I spend that much time taking photos of the food that it actually became cold? I made another cut. This time I can tell the knife feel is not as expected when cutting into cooked fish. I laid the piece down and took a good look at it. I can just make out that the piece is lightly seared on the four sides, similar to how a seared ahi would be cooked. I took my phone out, turned on the flashlight to verify what I suspected. Yup, it is completely not cooked in ALL of the middle. As much as I hate overcooked fish and love salmon sashimi, this in-between cooked/not-cooked salmon is just weird. I pondered a bit and decided to flag our waitstaff. I politely explained what I am seeing. She took a look at the fish, stepped away to speak with the chef, returned to retrieve our plates, and said the chef will remake our order. Unfortunately for them, we both ordered the salmon. The second time was PERFECTION. I decided not to ding this dish's score because they fixed the problem. But they also ignored us for the rest of the night except to ask if we want dessert and to give us our check. That is rather unprofessional. Snap peas with Dungeness crab, endive, chive, $19 - 2.5 Stars This was light and refreshing. But none of the flavor profiles standout, except for the snap peas. The Dungeness crab wasn't discernable, either. (The red colors in my photo are tomato bits.) I probably would have been happier with this dish, without the crab, at half the cost as a veggies dish. G.H. Foccacia, $7 - 4 Stars Served with an olive oil, balsamic, this bread is really, really good. Fluffy with just the right chew. I wish they didn't serve the olive oil and balsamic in the deep container, which made mixing more difficult. A shallow dish would have been much better. The overall rating is more of a 3.5, but they didn't give me a reason to round it up to 4.

Cavatelli al guanciale; pasta with pork, garlic, and kale. A great compliment to the butter and sage pasta, the pork being so soft and flavorful. 2.) the Cavolfiore con bagna caoda; a roasted cauliflower with an anchovy sauce and lemon. Did not think that a vegetable could be the star of the show, but with that sauce, it was our favorite. Loaded with flavor, every bite was perfect 3.) Tajarin con burro e salvia; butter and sage pasta. The fine cut literally melted in your mouth, best to eat first while it's warm. This is a dish that stays year round on their menu and was highly recommended by our friends. We ordered the pastas in the half order which was perfect for 2. Your order comes with complimentary bread which you can ask for olive oil on the side for. Will definitely be back!

We had our final dinner in Seattle at Spinasse and twas a wonderful time…read more First off, Spinasse gives Capitol Hill from the moment you enter. It's minimally furnished with just the right amount of ambient lighting. Secondly, it's Italian, but Piedmontese Italian if that means anything to you. We started with crespelle ($29) which is an Italian crepe. The version we ordered was stuffed with prosciutto and parmigiana fonduta with arugula salad. The crepe was light and airy and paired perfectly with the salty prosciutto and parm. Perfect starter. Honestly, all the pastas we ordered were absolute fire. Of the three, I liked the Tajarin Al ragù ($20/$34) the most. It's a fine hand-cut egg yolk pasta with pork and beef ragù. The pasta is so finely cut; it's delicate. What I liked best was the way the ragù sauce enveloped itself into the folds of the pasta. Each bite was cohesive and really intentional. The risotto was also quite good as well - that night, it was the risotto ai gamberi ($21/$35) which highlight spot prawns. The spot prawns were sweet and the Calabrian chili was a really nice complement to the sweet and creamy. Delish. I'm sure the risotto is great in any season. I must say - the best thing about the menu is the fact that you can order a smaller portion of any of the pasta dishes as to not have to fully commit to one. This is a superb way to eat. Live actually. Include Spinasse on any itinerary if you can.

We were lured over to Due' Cucina after having a fantastic experience with their fresh porchetta…read moresandwiches at the Camp Yelp event earlier this month. Fatty and tender meat, dripping with juices, on top of the perfect focaccia with an ideal crunchy fried crust and airy interior, not to mention the excellent marinated eggplant, tender and filled with tangy vinegar essence. I couldn't wait to give their actual restaurants a try, and that's where we found ourselves over the rainy weekend. This particular location is open and clean with extremely friendly staff. Ordering is really easy on the 3 kiosks in the front, although the pasta chef/cashier is also happy to take orders, offer suggestions, and help with any questions. The menu displays the level of al dente to expect with each type of pasta but can be adjusted in the order notes. They also have a very convenient monitor up near the kitchen that displays order status, whether in the preparation phase or complete. I especially love how this restaurant has bar seating in front of the fresh pasta making station. We were able to watch as the chef mixed up a batch of fresh spaghetti, measuring out the semolina flour and water (at least, that's all I saw her add to the combo mixer-extruder), preparing the die, and then extruding the pasta. And yes, as with any high quality pasta, they use bronze dies for extrusion here! The pasta is dried on racks for a bit to really give that al dente bite when cooked. Suppli Al Telefono ($3.70) - An order comes with a single piece nestled in a mini fry basket. This is somewhat similar to the more commonly seen (in the US at least) arancini. It's a smaller log-shaped fried croquette, with tender rice cooked in a fragrant tomato based sauce, stuffed with tons of gooey, stretchy cheese, and then deep fried to golden perfection. The breading is fantastically crunchy, contrasting against the much softer interior. It's a great pairing of texture and flavor. (5/5) Short Ribs Ragu w/ Fusilloni ($14.90) - The chef recommended the fusilloni with the ragu. The fusilloni, essentially a larger fusilli that has longer "fins", has plenty of spirals and crevices to catch onto the sauce. The extrusion is a little inconsistent, with some pieces being longer than others and others being more spirally, a sign of manual hand cutting rather than being machine sliced. Per the menu, the fusilloni is cooked until a "2" al dente level. This is actually more al dente than most Italian restaurants, meaning the pasta has a very firm bite, yet remains slightly chewy. It's definitely cooked through and pleasant to eat, although trending towards the too al dente side. The pasta is only lightly sauced, but what sauce there is clings perfectly onto the micro rough surface of the pasta. Each bite is consistent in taste with all the rich umami and tangy notes from the red wine tomato sauce. The parmigiano reggiano adds an additional burst of savory saltiness and the short rib, rendered perfectly tender, is given in enough quantity to satisfy. Due Cucina really does serve some great pasta. (5/5) Rustic Porchetta Sandwich ($11.90) - With how great the porchetta sandwich was at Camp Yelp, this is a disappointment. The porchetta, while still flavorful with somewhat anise-like and garlicky aromas, is completely dried out and tough. It's like the pork had been pre-sliced in the morning at a central kitchen, shipped to the restaurant, then placed in a dry heat tray for service. After the meal I confirmed my suspicions with the chef - the porchetta is prepared off site and and driven over every morning. The focaccia, so airy and crisp at Camp Yelp, is also subpar in store. It's floppy, completely saturated with oil, yet feels dried out on the interior. At least the eggplant hasn't degraded in quality too much. While still having a bite (e.g. not super tender), it's grilled and marinated until tangy and savory in a vinaigrette. Interestingly they serve the sandwich on top of a bed of lettuce tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette. The oils in the sandwich drip down while eating to add even more flavor. (3/5) I know that their porchetta is high quality when fresh, but I think the way they have it set up now makes a sandwich that's still tasty, but definitely could be much better. If they choose to open a specialty sandwich shop that roasts the porchetta in house, I'd definitely be a regular. With Due' Cucina, though, I'd stick with the excellent pasta. At the end of the day, pricing is very reasonable. For less than $40 after tax/tip, we both left satisfied. What a rarity for Seattle nowadays. And as a bonus, apparently they refresh the menu often. According to the chef, starting on Monday, Due Cucina will be introducing new pasta shapes, sauces, and different sandwiches. I'll be back for more pasta in the near future! It's almost as if…read morethere was some sort of city council committee that was tasked with elevating the goods of the local dough purveyors in order to attract citizens from far and wide to The Emerald City. Let me tell you, Lupo is high on my list of "Best 'Za In Seattle", and it will be on yours as well. The waiter told us something about how they're "fancy pizza but not stuck up" (not a direct quote), which fits right in with Seattle gastronomic philosophy. It's worth trying to get here early in the night, because it can be difficult to get a seat. And you want to have some time to sit down and enjoy this pizza. Make sure you wear your best sitting pants though, because you're in for a meal that will make you progressively adjust the belt loops as time goes on. I'm sure that there are plenty of top notch pizzas across the menu here, but the Caesar salad may have been a best-in-class item. The dressing was perfectly balanced with just enough anchovy taste, and there was exactly enough of it on every bite. Instead of having croutons in the salad, they had a heaping portion of toasted breadcrumbs that made each bite so much more interesting. Caesar himself would be proud. All of the pizzas sounded great, but I was pretty sure that they would be able to execute on a cacio e pepe flawlessly here, and I wasn't disappointed. The initial bite was everything that I could have hoped for. But I would make sure that you demolish this pizza promptly - it's not one that's great as leftovers. I think that is the case for most pizza of this style anyways. I am ridiculously excited about coming back to Lupo in the future to try more pizzas. The margherita was simple but spot-on, and the burrata added this extra hit of creaminess that took it over the top. Both pies had a generous amount of parmesan that was honestly perfect. FOOD POISONING ALERT…read more I'm 8 months pregnant and came here on Mother's Day with my husband and toddler, hoping for a nice family celebration. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. I ordered the seafood linguine special, while my husband had the veal marsala. The seafood in my pasta immediately tasted off -- especially the clams and mussels, which seemed old and likely frozen for far too long. Even my toddler, who normally LOVES seafood pasta at Italian restaurants, refused to take a second bite after trying it. I enjoyed seafood pasta from many other places but could barely finish my food that day. Later that night, I developed severe abdominal pain. At 8 months pregnant, any cramping is terrifying, and I genuinely thought I might be going into labor. After hours of pain coming and going, bloating, gas, vomiting, and diarrhea the next day, it became pretty obvious the food was the cause. Ruined Mother's Day and caused unnecessary stress during pregnancy. I will never order seafood from here again.

And then I recalled why I didn't want to come back from the first experience. First, the location is unique, and I really appreciate that this business is trying to keep Georgetown alive with cool quirky places to eat. This def fits the bill. But, I couldn't help but notice the political statement taped to the front window, super classy. I dine out to escape my day. I don't need it thrown in my face at dinner. Next, when the menus were brought to us, it was for their 3 course restaurant week special. $50 per person, and there are two choices per course. My family all chose what we wanted and then waited for the meal. Like previous reviewers, the wine is brought out in oversized shot glasses not really, but might as well be). I get that in Italy, dinner wine (peasant fare) is served in cups, not stemware, but $18 for mediocre wine, I'd like to see a more appropriate pour. Lamb Polpettine was essentially lamb meatballs on a cold and very loose polenta with what was described as salsa diavola, but it was essentially a chunky red sauce. There was nothing about this that wowed us. In fact, it was pretty bland overall and underwhelming. But the manner in which you are greeted and served at the restaurant and the remainder of service, you would think it was going to change how you felt about food. I don't even want to go into the salad. Again, underwhelming. The mains came out and although tasty, the portions were very small compared to the price we paid. And if you opt for the truffle, it's finely grated and it covers the entire plate. Also, it's an extra $12......for less than $2 worth of black truffle. It absolutely ruined the dish. An educated server would be able to caution against it, if, of course it wasn't intended to raise the final price, essentially raising the tip. If you order risotto there, be fair warned, it is extremely loosed and not very well made imo. Bland, lacks imagination, and the rice grains were cracked and soggy on the ends and crunchy in the middle.. Last was the dessert. Again, it was tasty, but it comes in these tiny jars that equal about 2-3 spoonfuls of either panna cotta, or tiramisu. At the end of our meal, the bill was over $250. For that price, I could have eaten somewhere where I could have left a little more satisfied and felt like I was actually in an upscale restaurant, not a political statement masquerading as fine dining. Having worked food for a long time, I felt obligated to leave the customary 20% gratuity knowing full well the workers there made their "living wage" before the gratuity kicks in. It included an additional 2% to pay for employee health insurance. Isn't that an employer cost? Why put that on the check? Anyway, out the door for $300 and vowing never to come back. Buyer beware.

Came here for happy hour on a Friday night and were able to get a table for two relatively easily,…read morealthough it was busy. During HH, they offer 50% off bar menu items, which is a spectacularly good deal. My partner and I ordered the carbonara and the ragu, and both were very good but the carbonara was amazing (flavorful, creamy, not too salty or cheesy, decadent without feeling too deadly). The tiramisu is a very good dessert with a nice strong espresso flavor and not too much sweetness. Our waitress kindly checked in right before 7pm to make sure we had any additional orders in before happy hour ended, which is a mark of excellent service. The bathroom is clean and brightly lit. I'd be happy to come back!

I'm visiting Seattle this week and I'm staying across the street near Barolo Ristorante. They close…read moreat 11, & I called an around 10pm and was very respectful about it ...I literally said, "I know it's late, please let me know if your kitchen is closed. I can just do takeout." I tried to order the fettuccine de mare, listed at $29 (no extra fees on Toast), but they told me it would be $43. That already didn't make sense. Then the server says, "We actually have 50% off happy hour until 11, come in and dine." So I came in. Ordered a drink, escargot, and a steak medium rare. The escargot came out fine. Then... nothing. 39 minutes later (at 10:45pm), the server asks if I'm waiting on anything else. Yes... my steak. She goes to check, disappears, and then comes back with something that honestly felt DISTESPECTFUL. The steak looked like scraps. Uneven, mismatched chunks, all different sizes, with burnt, crispy edges and covered in sauce like they were trying to hide it. It didn't look like a single cut of meat it looked like pieces from multiple steaks thrown together. The plating was sloppy, and the side looked like an afterthought. I didn't take a bite. I looked through it and said, "This looks like pieces from different steaks." She told me she watched them cut it... then immediately followed that by saying she saw them put it under a heat lamp to reheat. So which is it? I work in the food industry. I'm not going to be gaslit over a plate like that. She offered to refire it, but at that point it was almost 11 and they were closing. I paid for my drink and left. Honestly, I wouldn't have been upset if they had just told me the kitchen was closing when I called. But don't invite me in, forget my order, and then serve something like this and try to pass it off like it's normal. Just be honest.

We were…read morepleasantly surprised by our experience and this was notably one of the better meals we've ever shared together. When we first arrived we were given the option of either the chef's counter or a table. I thought the chef's counter was a unique experience but for the night we opted for a table near the window. The space is intimate and even though there weren't many people there when we first got there, it still gave a warm and cozy vibe (quickly filled up though). The week of my friend's birthday they were only doing Seattle Restaurant Week, which I hadn't realized at first but the menu was amazing regardless. The staff was very attentive to us, constantly checking in on us and making any adjustments as needed. They thoughtfully walked us through our choices and when the food arrived. First we started with appetizers which I thought it was nice that you get to try all them and didn't have to choose one. The salad and asparagus is what you would expect, but they were perfectly done and not overly complex. The stand out was the Seared Tombo, the flavors of this dish were balanced and the fish was clearly very fresh! For our main we both got the halibut option, which came with a side of sunchokes. We had never had sunchokes before but were immediately in love (the fish was cooked to perfection too) but I loved the introduction of not so common ingredient. I thought it was a fun play on traditional "potatoes" almost. I'm glad we were able to try both of the desserts. My favorite was the tiramisu (I always love tiramisu). The carrot cake was more on the dryer side (almost like a cornbread), which isn't my preference but I enjoyed the flavors. Overall, really enjoyed this place and would definitely come back!

What went well: - service…read more- ambiance Not so well: - food at price point In short, my friends and I enjoyed ourselves for dinner last night, but I struggled to wrap my head around the price points... $47 for halibut and "greens". The halibut size was smaller than average, and the greens consisting of two small artichoke halves and a single branch of collards. Similarly, we paid $23 for a seared tombo and were given four thin slices of meat. I feel slightly robbed paying about $80 and leaving quite hungry. The food was good, but by no means would I argue this is worth going out of your way for.
