There's actually a Venchi nearby my home, but the line is always long so I've never went. This Venchi was located quite close to our hotel, so we decided to check it out before heading back for a hotel break. They're located on quite a busy street, so it took about 20 mins to order. There aren't as many flavors as other gelato shops, but they do offer plant based flavors if you have dietary restrictions. I went with the pannacotta al carmello and mango flavors. The gelato was enjoyable, especially since it was quite hot that day. We finished it on the side of the street, you gotta eat it fast before it melts! Overall, the gelato was delicious and they have a couple more locations throughout Rome, so you can go to the one most convenient for you.
Really good chocolate! I wanted to come back not for the gelato, but for their chocolate bar with hazelnuts and their chocolate with pistachio, peanuts, and hazelnuts. The Venchi near Da Fortunato did not have good service as no one offered ice cream just watched me move about. However, the store is pretty and big with tons of chocolate/sauces. A lovely chocolatier and very pretty with bright lighting. The Venchi near the Spanish steps was super busy and much smaller with not as many options.
The only place in Rome I made it a point to stop by. I am fully aware this place is a chain, and possibly not authentic Italian...But I loved their parmigiano reggiano & olive oil gelatos. I don't love super sweet things, and both the olive oil and parm were perfect for me. Balance of salt and sweet.
It's one of the chocolate and gelato chains in Italy. The big chocolate fountain behind the counter is quite impressive. I've tried their gelato flavors of the most popular one PISTACCHIO, and two chocolates BRUTTO & BUONC MILK CHOCOLATE & HAZELNUT, and NOUGATINE 77% EXTRA DARK CHOCOLATE & CARAMELIZED HAZELNUT. It's relatively pricier than other chains, overall they give you smaller portions and it costs about €5 for three flavors.
Amazing service, even better hot chocolate! I picked out a gift to bring home to the family, and as I was browsing, was given chocolate to try - staff was super friendly. Grabbed the dark hot chocolate on my way out and soooo glad I did. It's super decadent - thick, dark chocolate topped with the fluffiest whipped cream and more chocolate. Fav thing I've had on this trip so far.
Incredible yummy! Got piccolo size with chocolate nutted cone and tried the flavor of mascapone fici and stracciatella and ther were so good! Long line in holiday. My kids got theirs and were happy with the tastes. Patient staff but one of them a bit controlling. Great service and product. Loved my first Venchi experience. Thank you guys for making my roman holiday sweet.
Cool spot! Looked super busy so we decided to give it a shot. When there is a long line, usually that's a sign that this is a place you want to check out. The wait wasn't too bad, I'd say 15 minutes total in line, which wasn't too bad considering there was 30-40 people ahead of us. When we got closer we got to see everything that they had and they have everything you can think of. It looks like they hand dip the cones and add nuts right on the spot which was cool. You get your choice of cone or cup and then your choice of chocolate on top of the gelato. I got the Venchi cream and hazelnut (not pictured) and my girlfriend got the chocolate and stracciatella (pictured). Mine was ok but didn't seem worth the hype. I did love the cone with the chocolate inside but I was a little disappointed when I saw that other people got the choose whether they got nuts on the cone and which chocolate cup they got on top and we didn't. Also they skimped me on my second flavor but I didn't want to make a big deal about it. This place seems like a cool spot and might be better on a warm day and with better service. We felt like it was a little over hyped but glad we got to experience it either way. We would come back but to try some other flavors in the future.
We came across this gem on our way to the Trevi Fountain. Amazing to see a chocolate wall and the selection of chocolates they had. They only accept cash - and there's a bank and ATMs right outside, across from them. Customer service was nice, they held out boxes of chocolate while we went to get some cash.
A huge wall with chocolate flowing down it? Is it sanitary? Does it run 24/7 Does someone eat it eventually? Whatever the answers may be, it is mesmerizing to look at and you can't not buy some goodies at this dessert shop. The interior is golden with a Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory vibe. The gelato is on point and one of the best in the city. Don't miss out on this specific Venchi location!
We stopped at the Venchi not far from Trevi. I've been to other locations and had much better experiences. We ran in to get some chocolates and the sales associate was so aggressive. He kept giving us random recommendations that didn't align to what we were saying we liked. As we checked out, we decided to add on gelato because you can skip the main line and go to a second, shorter line. The person working there was so slow though so getting to the shorter line wasn't that much of an advantage. Venchi, in general, is worth checking out, especially if you have dietary restrictions as they have a lot of options. I would recommend a different location though!

One of the (if not the) best gelato flavors I've had in Rome!! Ordered the chocolate flavor which was incredibly dense and rich!! They add nuts or chocolate chips inside the interior of cup so it adds a delicious texture! I love that they add texture here rather than only creamy gelato. I there was a bit of a wait on Wednesdays after dinner but it moved by very quickly and we were in and out! read more

Yummy cappuccino, Stracciatella and tiramisu gelato. Tried lemon granita too. All refreshing on a hot day in Rome. No wait and right by the pantheon. Great spot. read more

I mean c'mom even Apollo and Minerva loved this Italian treat... and the greatness about life is you don't have to be a goddess to lick it! Ooooh Sophia! So after a full al dente dinner with wine, coffee, and tiramisu... I decide to end the night with Gelato! In Roma, you will find the overwhelming amount of Gelato Shops, around landmarks like the Pantheon, Trivi Fountain, etc. For me, I trusted two things most: 1.) Yelp reviews; 2.) A line with real Italians lol. To be honest there's really no bad Gelato spots in these areas due to high competition. As I walk around Roma while perusing Yelp... I decide to visit Venchi which was only a couple blocks away. The top notch reviews, photos on Yelp & Instagram led me to them. I arrive to a line (a good sign) and a couple before me ordering in Italian (another very good sign:D)! The only difficulty I encountered was what to chose! Venchi has dozens upon dozens upon dozens of flavours, in both Gelato and Sorbetto. Venchi also has a ton of chocolate treats too, but of course it's all about licking the Gelato! It's my turn and I'm kindly greeted in a mixture of Italian, Spanish, English. These guys (& gals) with those cool floppy Italian hats are so amazing! Multi-lingual and genuinely in a good mood. I finally decide on a classic Pistachio in Cone. Remember I just had dinner, wine, dessert, and coffee, so I could only fit in a scoop, but so glad I trekked to Venchi! 'Cause it was Ahhhhmazing! In the end, Go Venchi! Don't let the flowing chocolate waterfall and zillion flavours scare you! It's not a Mom & Pop shop per se, but realize local Italians go here too, so you know it's legit. My only regret is not choosing five scoops and bursting at the seams.. So delizioso! Ti amo... read more

There was a long line, and it may be a bit touristy, but the gelato was fantastic- perfectly smooth and creamy. They had so many delicious flavors to choose from, along with some fun options like chocolate dipped cones and chocolate filled cones (do this...you are worth it!) We loved every bite! read more

The line was super long at night, but went by fairly quickly as they had two cashiers open and several people scooping gelato for people. They have the process down. Got cremino, capuccino, and tiramisu flavors. The gelato was super creamy and good! I'd say it was worth the wait. read more
It's 10 pm and as you walk the city streets taking photos you notice a gelato restaurant that is unusually busy...... With your interest peaked you enter and are immediately engulfed with the smell of chocolate. You see long lines of customers with a sparkle in their eyes as if it was Christmas. You convince yourself that it would be a CRIME to deprive yourself of this grand indulgence. You look to the right and you notice it. The wall, it's moving, no flowing...... Could this be a Willy Wonka fantasy? No Your senses have not fooled you....... they have a flowing wall of chocolate. Quickly you get in line and purchase a large sized cup and allow your eyes to dance over the selections cold creamy goodness. Once you acquired this treat you notice in the corner of your eye a man walking towards you. It's your husband........ In your mind you quietly scream noooooo because you understand that this cup of goodness will have to be shared. Quickly your mind is settled when you realized he has purchased his own indulgence of decadent chocolates. read more

Stumbled upon this little gem about an hour after arriving to Rome. Line our the door, intoxicating smells of waffle cone, had to check it out. Chocolate wall, check Lots of flavor options, check Waffle cones, check Hazelnut, check Raspberries, check Now waffles cones dipped in hazelnut and then dipped in crunchy raspberry pieces, mind blown!!!!! Waited in the line and it was worth it! Wish we had a chance to go back, but def next time! Fun fact: they also have one in the FCO airport! read more

The absolute BEST gelato!! No contest. I love the berry and dark chocolate gelatos, in particular. The chocolates here are alright, but the gelato is where it's at. AN ABSOLUTE MUST!! I fell in love with the gelato here and made sure to have it again the night before I left for home. read more
What more can I say, other than this gelato is some of the best I've tried, and I've tried a lot of gelato across Europe during my trip. There are so many flavours to choose from and the people that work here are very friendly, quick and helpful. The chocolate waterfall is a nice touch! read more
Venchi has super nice interior decoration (the gold tone throughout the store and chocolate waterfall backdrop). There were chocolate bars sold by the bar and individually wrapped chocolate sold by kg. We got the 85% chocolate bar and it was a little too bitter for my taste. We also got the some ice cream in a cup with 3 flavors. The pear flavour was sour. I think it tasted weird. There's no seating in the Pantheon location and the other one near the main street only had 4 seats. The lines were long both time we went. So be prepared to wait a little bit. read more

Love icecream! Located in streets of Rome near to all the must visit tourist places around. It did have a long fast moving queue. On a hot day we stopped here! They have great choices and the staff is amazing amazing. They took my kids and showed them chocolate fountain and gave them to try on chocolate from the fountain! It did not stop here - one staff member bought my kid special VENCHi bibs - yes they were little and making mess. We bought them back home as souvenirs. read more

Gelato here is amazing! Super crowded at 10pm on a Thursday, but the line moves quickly. Enjoyed every bite! Side note, gotta love the flowing chocolate backdrop....really makes this place seem like magic read more

This place is fun and chic, but you can get just as good gelato other places for less money. Here you are really buying the environment. The cholate wall is cool and the shopping in the store. The store also smells amazing. The downside of the environment is that there isn't any room to eat your gelato in the store so you have to eat outside. The place is good, but just too pricy for my taste. read more

Best. Gelato. Ever. I was somewhat skeptical being that it was a chain. Boy was I wrong. I had actually been to the "World's Best" gelato in San Gimignano a couple days prior and didn't think it could be topped. I order the straciatella di coco (coconut with coco nibs) and Cremino (hazelnut with Nutella spread). The coconut didn't taste artificial with fresh coconut that added texture and flavor. The cocoa nibs were more like ribbons than chips. The Cremino was sublime with a perfect balance of Nutella laced into the hazelnut ice cream. My partner's tiramisu flavor was perhaps the best I had ever had. Rome is filled with mediocre gelato places, but you can trust this one to deliver. read more
I came here on vacation to Italy. This is a chain gelato store. Plenty of flavors and reasonable prices. The trick to good gelato is to make sure the gelato is not piled too high or else it's not authentic gelato. The decor is also really cool- there's a chocolate fondu. The background is running with chocolate the entire time and it's pretty cool to stare at. read more
Very cool looking place that draws you in. There are many of these shops around especially in the bigger cities. It's hectic and not super clear how the process works though you figure it out quickly: order the size from the first person and get your ticket/receipt then you jockey for position with the folk that will scoop it for you. The gelato was good though not incredible. Something to check out if you're in the area for sure. read more
