Stopped by here while my friend and I were walking around the Colosseum. We came pretty late at night, so luckily, there was no line. Excellent gelato here, liked that it was stored in a metal container vs being out in the open. Flavors and textures were spot on, I liked that there is no artificial colorings added to any of the gelatos - it tasted very clean. Staff was very patient and nice while we were deciding which flavors to get - I really enjoyed the hazelnut! Unfortunately they ran out of pistachio when we went.

Loved this gelato. My friend and I stopped by after dinner to grab some gelato to go (Flor was close to our hotel). There were lots of interesting flavors, but I got pistachio and a sour cherry flavor. It was super creamy and the flavors were very pronounced.

By far the best. Absolutely LOVED it. Flavor was spot on. Felt and tasted authentic. Prices were reasonable. $15 for 3 medium cones and 1 small cup.

Stopped by here because they were open late (until midnight) and were nearby the restaurant I ate at for dinner. There was a small line when I arrived (one person starting to order, another person waiting to order). Only one person was working there at the time, and she ran the register as well as scooped the ice cream. All flavors are labelled in both Italian and English. Got the three scoop size in a cup for 3.50 euros with pistachio, stracciatella, and tiramisu. There's no seating at this location, so I stood and ate the gelato outside. Even after just stepping outside and taking a few seconds to snap a picture, the gelato was already starting to melt. Luckily, when it's in a cup, this isn't too big of an issue. All the flavors were a delicious and refreshing nighttime snack. However, the standout flavor was pistachio. This is the first gelato I've had in Italy, and I was expecting pistachio to taste like it does in the US. I was wrong; the pistachio at this location was so much richer than any pistachio flavored food item I've had in my life! Out of the three, it was by far my favorite flavor. Overall, a solid gelato place. Would come back again!

Honestly wasn't expecting much because of how close it was to the Colosseum, but this was amazing! It's silver bin Gelato, so it's super cold and has a bit of a better flavor. Would recommend.

The flavors were by far 5/5! The dark chocolate and chunky cherry are a must have! I also got the custard flavor which was really good! The texture of the ice cream however is more 3/5. You can see in my picture the cherry was melting on top and sliding all over the place so I had to eat it way faster than I was hoping. Other than that the care they put into the cone looking good was 5/5 on most people I may have just been the exception

It is wonderful to walk by the shop and get some of my favorite flavors. And gelato is such a great refreshing taste of heaven I highly recommend stopping by the shop and getting some for yourself when you are in Rome.

Exceptional gelato and we tried almost every place we passed for three days. Pistachio and dark chocolate were amazing.

Great Gelato. Went there twice in one day to try more flavors. Loved the lemon but the salted caramel stole the show.

Ran into this shop since our stay in Rome was next door. Simply put, it's the best gelato we had in Italy.

Everything tastes super fresh and creamy, and the flavors feel really authentic without being overly sweet or artificial. What I liked most is how consistent it is--whether you go for classics like pistachio or something more indulgent, it always tastes rich and high quality. It's the kind of spot where you can tell they really care about what they're making. The vibe is simple and focused on the gelato itself, not anything flashy, which honestly fits perfectly for a place like this. Always worth stopping by if you're in Rome and want proper gelato.

And very likely using a warm process. Very clean, payment / ordering process is efficient. That's where I say everything is good. The gelato - really not for me. It's very very sweet for my tastes. Which might be fine as it's nothing I would crave to eat more than once in a while - and not more than a few spoonfuls at a time. Not to worry, that's all you're getting anyway as the scoopers seem trained to smooth on your gelato like a thin coat of spackle, without ever filling the hole. That's all. I have to try some more around Rome to see if I'm bringing my untrained perspectives into this forum. As they say.... When in Rome.....

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

But I stopped in my tracks because I saw a line wrapped up 50+ people deep, all waiting just to get inside and order. Now it's day two in Rome and I still hadn't had any gelato, even though I've walked past what feels like a hundred shops. So what would a fat man from Alabama do? Turn right back around, of course--because nothing says "this is probably good" like a crowd stacked up like cordwood waiting for ice cream. I finally make it up to the counter and the young guy looks at me and says in English, "What do you want?" Well... I can't pronounce half of what I'm looking at, so I just show him a picture of his own menu I had snapped a minute earlier. He smiles, reads it out loud, and then asks, "What size?" At that point my brain is a mess, so I mumble "medium" and point at the cup sitting by the register. One problem down. Then I move into the next line--about a dozen people ahead of me--and when it's finally my turn again, I just point at my receipt like, "It's on there somewhere, I think." I can't read Italian, so I'm fully operating on faith at this point. The guy looks up and says, louder this time: "What flavor?" Flavor? That was not the question I was prepared for. So I point back at the picture again and say, "Whatever that is... I want that one." He scoops it up, loads it into the cup, and sends me on my way. Now comes the real test--taste it--but there are people everywhere, so I grab a quick photo first, because priorities. First bite? Hallelujah. That was the moment. That gelato hit and I just kept walking down the sidewalk like a man who somehow figured out how to survive ordering ice cream in Italy. Seriously, it was excellent. And if I get turned around again like today, I already know where I'm going back.
