If you're in Rome, La Romana Gelateria is an absolute must-visit! It's my favorite gelateria in the city. I always go for the pistachio and hazelnut flavors... they're rich, creamy, and simply amazing. There's usually a line, but don't worry, it moves pretty quickly, and trust me, it's worth the wait every time. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, and I was especially happy to see the same lady who worked there almost two years ago still behind the counter. I showed her a video I took of the gelato and we had a good laugh about it. It's those small moments that make the place even more special!
If you are looking for tasty and authentic gelato in Rome, Italy, this is your spot! Service is on point, ambiance is upbeat and steady! I ordered the coffee gelato, with a scoop of pistachio! The coffee was rich and comforting, while the pistachio had cooling and sweet notes! What a treat this was! Check this place out! You cannot go wrong! Cheers!
This has to be the Best ice cream we had in Rome. It was recommended by my husband's friend that we must try it, and we walked and took transportation to be able to get here which was worth it. Staff were very friendly. I tried a few flavors. I got two and they were amazing! I don't recall what they were but they were so good! After that I got crepes as well. Highly highly recommend them!
The best gelato in Italy. We have been to La Romana many times over many years and still consistently the best. The flavor options and authentic flavor taste, consistency of the gelato, service, all of it is the best. Be sure to try the flavors before ordering. Their desserts are also quite good. If you see a long line out the door don't be off put - it moves quickly.
La Romana is hands-down my favorite gelato -- not just in Rome, but anywhere. The gelato is incredibly creamy, rich, and full of flavor. The service is always warm and welcoming, and they never rush you. You're encouraged to take your time deciding, and they're happy to help you choose if you're unsure. On my most recent visit, I got Pistachio and Stracciatella -- my two favorites -- though they have a wide selection of delicious flavors to explore. La Romana is an absolute must-stop if you're in Rome (and they have multiple locations throughout the city). The gelato is amazing, and the service is just as sweet.
Best gelato!! It's so delicious and the selection is amazing and unique! Service is pleasant and fast. Thank you to that Filipino who served us, pleasant and nice guy. The ambiance is calm and comfortable. They have chairs inside for us tourists to sit on when we want to rest and enjoy our gelato. Grazie Mille!!
La Romana... you are the best. Honest, I found out about this spot through a YouTube video. It was a vlogger claiming, "This was the best gelato in Rome, maybe Italy." When you hear that (as a Yelper) you think: 1. Let's check Yelp. 2. Yelp claims the same. 3. Let's GO and TRY! When we got there, there was a line out the door. Don't worry, it moves fast! Plus, it is well well WELL worth the wait. You'll first get to a cashier where she or he will take your order. They will just ask what size you want, not your flavors. So don't worry, again. You still have time to decide on that. There are a dozen flavors to choose from, as well as, the option to have chocolate in your cone and fresh whip cream on top. My suggestion... go big and get both! I did. (see photo below) The whip cream gives you something to delight in before you get to the main event and the chocolate gives you something to look forward to at the end. Now, the main event. The gelato is UNBELIEVABLE! It's creamy, silky and tasty. I tried the coffee and deuce de leche. It was quite the combo, and made me wish I roomed for seconds. It's definitely the BEST gelato in Rome, maybe Italy!
I ate the gelato so fast I didn't get a picture of it! The service here was impeccable! I can stay this is the first place in Italy that I felt seen and valued as a customer! The employees were welcoming! They allowed me to ask questions about the gelato crepes! They let me sit and eat then pay so I could enjoy my time there! I ended up ordering more than expected due to the hospitality! The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 is because I didn't like the black coffee flavor gelato and if I knew I could try it before I brought it I would have doubled down on that chocolate ! The atmosphere is welcoming and valuable to those traveling black because it's rare to find in Italy!
The best gelato I had in Italy. The entire menu is in Italian hut the staff were super nice in helping me pick a flavor. The coke was filled with caramel sauce (peanut butter consistency) which I could bathe in it was so good. I chose the chocolate chip and raspberry which were delicious and rich. It is located around beautiful scenery as you can see by the picture. There are only a few indoor seats and no outdoor seats. Highly recommend you give this place a try
Hands down. Most favorite gelato place in italy. Or just ever. We kept coming back every day! My main favorites were croccante della nonna, stracciatella grand cru, mascarpone al caffè, and caramello salato con noci pecan! Those were just *chefs kiss*. Mouth watering. Yummy delicious gelato. Service was amazing. They're so nice and patient. I would try to practice basic phrases when ordering in italian. Everyone's so friendly and kind and helpful as well when i asked what flavor they recommended to go with the flavor I've chosen. I will most definitely be coming back!!!
This gelato store utterly was the best! Recommended by a local friend. We went right after our brunch at our favorite Ciampini near by. My boys were in love at their first bite! Ever since my son went back every day during his time Spring Break. They open daily late too. People lines up even in raining days. They have back and downstair sitting areas as well.
Today, on my walk toward Neptune's Fountain, I passed this little gelato shop--Gelateria La Romana--and kept going. But I stopped in my tracks because I saw a line wrapped up 50+ people deep, all waiting just to get inside and order. Now it's day two in Rome and I still hadn't had any gelato, even though I've walked past what feels like a hundred shops. So what would a fat man from Alabama do? Turn right back around, of course--because nothing says "this is probably good" like a crowd stacked up like cordwood waiting for ice cream. I finally make it up to the counter and the young guy looks at me and says in English, "What do you want?" Well... I can't pronounce half of what I'm looking at, so I just show him a picture of his own menu I had snapped a minute earlier. He smiles, reads it out loud, and then asks, "What size?" At that point my brain is a mess, so I mumble "medium" and point at the cup sitting by the register. One problem down. Then I move into the next line--about a dozen people ahead of me--and when it's finally my turn again, I just point at my receipt like, "It's on there somewhere, I think." I can't read Italian, so I'm fully operating on faith at this point. The guy looks up and says, louder this time: "What flavor?" Flavor? That was not the question I was prepared for. So I point back at the picture again and say, "Whatever that is... I want that one." He scoops it up, loads it into the cup, and sends me on my way. Now comes the real test--taste it--but there are people everywhere, so I grab a quick photo first, because priorities. First bite? Hallelujah. That was the moment. That gelato hit and I just kept walking down the sidewalk like a man who somehow figured out how to survive ordering ice cream in Italy. Seriously, it was excellent. And if I get turned around again like today, I already know where I'm going back. read more
Gelateria La Romana is a non-negotiable stop for anyone visiting Rome who wants truly exceptional gelato. The quality, flavor, and overall experience here make it the gold standard. The prices are also amazing for the amount you get, which makes it even better. The staff are excellent, friendly, and very patient. They offer helpful guidance if you're overwhelmed by the choices, and it's worth listening because everything is done with so much care. My favorite flavors were the caramello salato con noci pecan, the stracciatella, and the crema di nocciola al cioccolato bianco. All of them were incredibly smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor. This place consistently delivers incredible gelato with great service and great value. An easy five stars and a must-visit every time I'm in Rome. read more
This is my favorite gelato place in Rome! It is a cute, trendy spot that is always packed. They have a lot of fun seasonal flavors along with their staples so expect some tough decisions. We ordered a piccolo that gets you two flavors and picked pumpkin crumble pie and dalgona Pumpkin Crumble Pie- The pumpkin pie base is rich and creamy. It was spiced perfectly. The crumble pieces add a lovely contrasting texture. Dalgona- It has a creamy custardy base that isn't overly sweet. There are generous amounts of crumbled italian biscuit and dalgona pieces that are crunchy and caramely. A must try when you're in Rome! read more

This was our go to gelato spot when in Italy. The amount of times we visited is embarrassing lol the gelato is so good and they add chocolate to your cone if you prefer! The desserts are so yummy. If I could pack up this entire shop and take it home with me I would! read more

Delicious gelato with a variety of flavors. Came here for a pre-dinner snack and there was a long line, but it moved fairly quickly. There's a couple of benches outside for seating. The staff were all really nice and spoke English. You pay first and then receive your order. We got a medium size which came with three flavors. The stracciatella was delicious and I would recommend getting that. The pastel de nata was an interesting flavor, and the 150 anni dell'unita was recommended by the guy helping us. We did get to sample flavors and they have waffle cones available in addition to whipped cream. Credit cards accepted. Overall, I would definitely stop by if you're in the area for a sweet treat. read more
A chain gelato shop but it's the best gelato I've had out of the cities we traveled to (Rome, Florence, and Venice). Service wasn't as great as the other locations because when we asked for the English menu, the server was annoyed and impatient. You get to choose to fill your cone with chocolate or white chocolate and also get to choose to top your gelato with whipped cream and whipped egg nog cream (seasonal). Gelato was still good! The whipped cream was light and fluffy. Pesto di Pistacchio - super creamy and nutty. One of the best pistachio gelato I've had. Stracciatella Grand Cru - creamy with chocolate chips. The best stracciatella I've had. Marscapone Al Caffe Con Cioccolato Fondente (marscapone cream with organic coffee and dark chocolate chunks) - I love coffee and marscapone so this was so good! read more

Because you get to choose what chocolate syrup you want poured into the tip of your cone; because you get to choose what flavor whip cream you want to add at the tip of your gelato; because you get to choose what unbelievable flavor of gelato you want for only a few euros!! My friends and I have been here 3 times in the last 3 days, it's really that good. Really affordable pricing and superb gelato, fast and friendly service and I love that they put some chocolate or berry syrup at the bottom of your gelato cone for a really pleasant finish!! I've also been told they have great crepes but can't attest to that yet read more
Wow. 2nd gelateria I've been to here in Rome and I don't think I'll go another one. 1st time got Bacio di dama con mandorle tostate and Cremino al pistacchio. I totally lucked out on the combo because it was amazing! Got chocolate sauce in the cone. Day 2 I came back and got Farcito 1, Pesto di mandorla d'Avola, Caramello salato con noci pecan with white chocolate sauce. It was also good. We were so lucky our hotel was close by! Or maybe on second thought maybe not so much now that I'm probably 10 lbs heavier after coming back from Italy... But nonetheless! This gelateria is unique in that they line your cone with chocolate before scooping on the creamy goodness! The prices are definitely on the cheaper side (YAY!) compared the other highly rated gelato places. We came here twice and tried pistachio, hazelnut, stracciatella, apricot, strawberry, and yogurt. Surprisingly, my favorite flavor was yogurt! It has a night tartness and reminded me of pink berry LOL (and maybe also fooled me into thinking it was a little healthier) I also liked the stracciatella! I only wish they had some english on their menu because I would've tried some other flavors if I knew what they were. They do have a separate english menu card, but it didn't have all the flavors they were serving on the board. read more

Overcrowded and overrated. They have limited flavors and like Gröm, they are all covered up so you can't really see them. Yes, they have a tiny room in the back where you can enjoy your gelato, but a cone is meant to be enjoyed on the go anyway. Yes, they pour Guanduia or Crema in the inside of your cone before filling it, but apart from that I don't see what all the fuss is about. Skip the line and walk down to Portofino down the street and you'll be happier you didn't wait. read more
Gelato kept in tins are the best! I must've tried 8 different flavours. Great service to make sure I liked what I was getting. Always my go to in Rome for gelato! They also have fresh whipped cream regular or eggnog flavour. Along with flowing chocolate fountain of white of milk chocolate! read more

MMm, not my favorite of the 12 gelatos I had during my trip to Italy, but props for good texture and interesting flavors. I actually jogged here from our lodging, about a 22 min walk, and ended up spraining my ankle getting there. Was it worth it? I guess so - our taxi driver recommended it and I can tell he's got good taste. My main gripe was that both the flavors I got were too too sweet. I also got the chocolate at the bottom, which actually seemed like it was nutella. It stayed liquidy too, which added to the whole messy, sticky sweet experience. I think I ended up dumping some of it on the way back. read more
