Easily the creamiest gelato I had in Rome! I was so happy to try this place as it was just around the corner from where I was staying. Gelato was extra creamy and flavor was good!! I went early afternoon and most of the gelato was less than half full so I was excited and expecting for this gelato to blow my mind. Unfortunately they did not there was a girl on her phone for about five minutes behind the counter, who didn't notice me at first. I tried three flavors. The chocolate was delicious. I wasn't offered a wafer and didn't see any so didn't think to ask but I would have liked one. strangely, I could not tell the pistachio difference from the hazelnut. This spot is SO GOOD. They speak English very well so it's easy to order as a foreigner. They allow up to two different flavors per item even if you order the smaller option which is awesome. Some of the best gelato I've had in Rome and I've had quite a lot lol! Highly recommend the pistachio gelato, but also loved the milk chocolate, hazelnut, and mascarpone gelato. Our server was super friendly and fluent in English and Spanish which was really helpful. It's a tiny little space but 3 small chairs inside and a little bit of seating outside. We just landed in Rome on a hot day and desperately needed a pick-me-up gelato from somewhere nearby. La Strega Nocciola was about a block and a half away from our Airbnb and highly recommended, so I figured it would give us the refresher that we were looking for. I walked into the shop and thankfully there was no line. I was greeted by a gentleman who was very friendly and helped me with my order. I went for the Nocciola and Caffe on a cone. I got an Azteca on the side in a cup. I thought if I walked fast back to my Airbnb I would be able to give my partner her gelato without any messy melting going on, but it literally started dripping as soon as it was handed to me. So it's really best to start eating the gelato right there and then. The Nocciola was absolutely delicious! It paired really nicely with the caffe flavor. The Azteca was pretty good too! It tasted like vanilla mixed with cinnamon. Both gelatos were creamy and flavorful. The cone tasted fresh as well. I came back the next day to a huge line and unfortunate news that they were only accepting cash since their WiFi was down. I guess the universe just wanted me to have more gelato because I had just enough cash for 2 more cones! TLDR: La Strega Nocciola is gelato royalty and you should definitely pay them a visit on your next trip to Rome. read more

Incredibly delicious gelato. We tried seven of their flavors, all were so creamy and the flavors were so rich. Quality ingredients + experience = La Strega Nocciola. We also tried the bergamot (tasted like a mix of sour orange and lemon) granita- it was slightly tart and sweet, very refreshing. Only minutes away from Piazza di Spagna. However, worth the walk if coming from a distance. They have seating outside, take a quick break and relax while enjoying your gelato or granita. We stumbled across this gem on our way from the Spanish Steps headed toward the Trevi Fountain. A bit away from the more tourist-heavy areas, we saw a sign that said gelato and decided to just go in and try some. We ordered a small gelato and a granita, both of which were delicious. The gelato is so creamy and smooth, and the granita tasted very fresh and was refreshing on a hot day. We enjoyed it so much that we went back on our last night in Rome to get some more gelato. I tried the yogurt flavored gelato, which my wife was a bit wary of at first, but turned out to be one of the best flavors we tasted. We'll definitely be back next time we're visiting! read more

Outstanding. Little gelato shop in a quiet street. It's just around the corner from the busier street- but what a difference those few meters make. It was charming and cozy. The server very friendly! They have two 2-top tables do you can get off your feet for a bit if you like. I got a small cup with fig and pistachio. Bit were head and shoulders better than other gelato that I tried. The quality was next level. I wish that I had known how great it was. I would have happily grabbed another scoop. Tiny amazing gelateria tucked away near the Spanish steps on a quiet side street. Completely empty when we arrived, but don't let that stop you! The nice shop assistant gave us 4 flavors for €4.50 (large) and we happily shared. We learned from prior experiences with gelato in Rome that fruit flavors can be quite sour, so got pistachio, coconut, basil, and Maya (chili chocolate). Everything was excellent! My family loved the coconut but the Maya was spectacular, rich chocolate flavor - almost fudgey! - followed by a spicy aftertaste best had with the unique basil flavor (though really any of the other three were excellent). This is a 7.5 stars!!! Do yourself a favor and only go here!!! This is hands down our favorite gelato shop in Rome...and we went to many!!! My husband ate gelato sometimes 3 times a day trying to find his favorites. On the island of Capri there is Bueno Cone. That would be just above these guys. They make their own cones. The flavors, textures and consistency aren't beat by anyone. The limone -lemon- flavor is spot on. It's not an icy sorbet. It's not too sugary. It's fresh and light!! My husband loves the cream or milk crepe flavor!! The coconut is always fantastic. That's one of my top favorites. The gentleman who was always working when we were there is SO nice. He remembered us every time which is very kind and great customer service. Can't say enough nice things about this place. Close to the spanish steps in Rome. Stop reading and get going!!! read more
