Second gelato of the evening was at Old Bridge Gelateria. Busy on a weekday evening (11:30pm). They have two other locations in town. 30 flavours (5 lactose free), scoops are 3,00€ to 6,00€ and include up to three flavours. - Small (3,00€) - mango, frangola and frutti di bosco. Mango and strawberry were okay. Mixed berry was slightly icy Decent but none of the flavours wowed.

Rome has gelato shops every 50 feet but there is something special about old Bridge. Been in town 36 hours and have stopped by 3 times. Remember to ask for more than one flavor in your cup

As my professor said, "there might be a lot of tourists that come here, but who cares if it's good?" That is exactly how I feel about Old Bridge- great location, phenomenal flavors, very good price. Their whipped cream makes everything a hundred times better! The best gelato I have had so far in my short week in Rome.

Amazing gelato!! This was recommended to me by some of my friends and it lived up to the hype! I got the tiramisu flavor and it was so delicious, would highly recommend as a nice treat after visiting Vatican City!

Cheap and yummy. Highly recommended online. Got a small cone at €2.50 with three flavors to boot. Can't beat that. Had a taste of the novelty Snickers and Oreo versions and they tasted like the real thing. We do recommend Pistachio and it's variants. They won't disappoint. Our go to gelateria when in Rome. Fast and helpful staff manning the counter. Place is small like with other gelato shops and enjoying the frozen treat out in the sidewalk can only be described as a Roman experience.

Outstanding gelato, ranking among the best we've tried so far. Conveniently located not far from the Vatican Museum, making it an ideal stop before or after your visit. We sampled the Oreo and caffe in a cup, topped with whipped cream - both were deliciously creamy.

I'm usually pretty skeptical about places swarming with tourists, but I totally get the hype!! Great quality gelato with fun flavors, and a perfect location near the Vatican Museums. I got blueberry yogurt and amaretto, which were both so flavorful. Definitely worth a visit despite the crowd!

I got gelato here for 3 days straight! They're so kind and the gelato is fresh and creamy. Not too sweet either. I suggest coming around 8pm where there's no crowd, but they work really fast.

This was my first gelato experience in Rome, and it was wonderful! It's on the way/between the Vatican museum entrance and St Peter's Square. There are four sizes, but you can get up to three flavors for any cone size! The smallest is only €2, and the largest cone, which is a waffle cone, is €6. Of the flavors I tried, here is what I liked from most to least: triple (lime, passion fruit, vanilla), mango, pistachio, strawberry, yogurt, and coffee. Don't get me wrong - all the flavors taste so natural and they use organic milk. For example, I felt like I was actually eating pistachio nuts, and the coffee wasn't sweet at all like it is in the States. There are several other flavors too, like Nutella, chocolate, hazelnut, cream, banana, etc. The flavors are listed on either side of the entrance/door. The guy that helped me spoke English as well. It's about the size of a small room; the gelato fridge is right in front of you when you enter. I would definitely make a stop back here to get gelato another time! Godere!

After a long day at the Vatican, Old bridge Gelateria is conveniently and dangerously close by! I went here twice because it was so good. I'd say this gelato along with frigidarium were my favorites that I tried on my trip!

Now available via franchising, but a part of Rome for thirty-five years, Old Bridge Gelato plays a prominent role in a day at The Vatican for many, its frequently-long line best circumvented via early-morning or late-evening arrival. Located at Viale Bastioni di Michelangelo 5, Vatican City walls looming just across the street, it is from this seatless storefront that guests are offered thirty daily flavors, nothing too esoteric but all bases built from fresh Fruits and good Italian Organic Dairy. The product of two artisans, their original handmade approach since streamlined by "cutting edge machines," it is without preservatives, artificial colors are stabilizers that Old Bridge Gelato's texture finds itself nearly soft-serve creamy, and although Pistachio lacked the intensity of other Roman shops both the Chocolate-flecked 5tracciatella and Biscotto fared just fine.

Great little gelato place located just outside of Vatican City! I came here on the recommendation of a friend who had recently been to Rome and told me to come and I'm glad I did! The pistachio and ricotta gelato I had was insanely delicious and so light and did not leave me feeling bloated or heavy the way ice cream does. It's a must try if you're visiting the Vatican area and in need of a sweet treat!

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

They were busy both times, with a line out the door, but the people working were friendly and patient (which was especially noticeable on our first visit, when a group of 10 tourists wandered in after a few hours drinking, eating and drinking our way through the town.) The did have some interesting flavor combos lined up for us to try, but I went with the flavors I craved. Everything was tasty and creamy, and the serving sizes were generous. They offered whipped cream on top of each portion as well, which we passed on, the gelato was yummy and creamy enough without the added cream. The shop is tiny (explains the line) but clean, and they do a good job of labeling each of the vats of gelato they have on display. Definitely a winner, and seemed to be quite popular with locals.
