Each piece feels balanced...not overly sweet with deep flavor. They also serve gelato with classic offerings like pistachio and chocolate shine including seasonal and specialty flavors. We fell in love with their chocolate and visited two stores. Venchi stores were bright and eye-catching with a modern design. Store staff was friendly and very welcoming. I visited Italy and my four year old son specifically requested a heart shaped box of chocolate with different types of chocolate inside. I walked by Venchi and was so excited to see that exact gift. Andrea and Giulia greeted me and gave me a taste of chocolate olive oil that was so good I am still talking about it, I had never even heard of such a thing before. They were so funny and welcoming, I loved chatting with both of them and they gave me some great recs for ice cream choices. Definitely a must visit! Venchi was a fun place to get some great quality gelato. Dario let me sample a couple gelatos before I chose my flavors. I tasted the Straticiella which is what I almost always order. Venchi's was okay. I loved the samples of chocolate and hazelnut and dark chocolate. I am not even much of a chocolate fan but these were awesome. I ordered 4 scoops of gelato in a waffle cone. This was only 5 Euros. The scoops were not huge, but still well worth it. I ended up ordering those two scoops of chocolate plus 2 scoops of Straticiella. I am annoyed with myself for doing that since I did not love that Straticiella but habits are hard to break!!! This is a very clean gelateria and I believe they sell candy too although I was super focused on the gelato. Lol read more

You won't miss it because it is a very lighted and bright place. In this location, there is typically a line as this on is close to the Trevi fountain. I suggest going to this one because there is another one nearby where there are trainees and they don't serve as well. We walked by this place during the day on Sunday and it was madness. The line was out the door and wrapped around the building. We walked by later that night at around 11pm and there were only 4 people in line so we decided to check it out. SO glad we did!! The best gelato in all of Italy! The ladies working the counter could have been a little friendlier, though. The gelato was super creamy, didn't melt very fast but not overly sweet. I can't quite remember the exact flavors we both got, but we agreed both flavors were amazing and decadent. Fair prices for the quality and size here. They have a huge assortment of gelatos and chocolates. And their shop is well lit, clean and adorable. I did end up buying some chocolates while in Florence at one of their locations over there for some friends. They are pricey chocolates but heard they're worth it. read more

Stumbled upon this little gem about an hour after arriving to Rome. Line our the door, intoxicating smells of waffle cone, had to check it out.  Chocolate wall, check Lots of flavor options, check Waffle cones, check Hazelnut, check Raspberries, check Now waffles cones dipped in hazelnut and then dipped in crunchy raspberry pieces, mind blown!!!!! Waited in the line and it was worth it! This place reminds me of the chocolate shops at the Bellagio in Vegas. Upon walking in, there is a wall that says Venchi with chocolate falling down. I opted for a piccolo (small) 2 flavors for 3,20 euros I believe. A premium cone was an extra 0,70 euros. I got the strawberry and the milk chocolate hazelnut flavor which was OUT OF THIS WORLD CREAMYY. It was sooo good, I was sad it only lasted for 5 mins since it was thattttt good, and... it started to melt after several pictures lol. Being from Orlando, it isn't a new concept for us. Always prefer a small family-run place with excellent reviews/service. This was very fun and yummy, however. The "chocolate wall" was terribly fun. The first member of staff we encountered was irritated that we didn't know to tell him 1, 2, or 3 scoops and cup/cone. No one directed us what to do until the moment you get up there with the small sign. Perhaps we missed something that did but couldn't tell. You tell him that, pay, he gives you a receipt which you then shuffle down to the gelato area and hand to the person who will put your order together. If you ordered a cone, be prepared to point to her which one you want and she will prepare it fresh (loved that). So yummy, yet portions are not large at all which was disappointing after that long wait. Fun to go to while in Rome, regardless. read more

You'll find Venchi stores just about anywhere in Italy. They are a large chain, established back in the 1800s. Having said that, I am always about the value of food. Perhaps I'm spoiled with the cheap, good quality food I can access in Los Angeles, but Venchi did not seem to be worth the €3.50 for 2 scoops. I have been to a lot of gelato places, so I'm fairly good at identifying good quality gelato. Venchi definitely has better quality for their chocolate-flavored gelatos. However, the fruit flavors are extremely shiny, which means they are either over sugared or are old. So if you visit Venchi, go for the non-glossy gelatos. If you don't care about freshness, choose whichever flavor you like. I'm sure it will still taste pretty decent. Many other smaller gelato places that are tucked behind alleys or not located in popular tourist areas offer more gelato at the same price. The scoops that Venchi provided were smaller than usual. The typical Italian way is that they put so much gelato on your cone that you almost have to eat fast to prevent it from dripping. At Venchi, this wasn't an issue because the scoops were small and contained within the cone. It may just be this location. I have heard that there are some locations where they are training younger staff. I would suggest at least trying Venchi to get a broader range of gelato experiences under your belt. read more

Not only can you get some good gelato but you can grab all types of chocolate to eat or as gifts. This place is pretty busy and a lot of their gelato has been scooped up! I went with hazelnut and pistachio on a cone. At 3.5 euros that's such a steal if the U.S. Dollar was the same as the euro. Too bad. The gelato is as good as I remember from a previous trip to Italy . Rich, creamy, and packed with real genuine flavor and ingredients. The pistachio has real nuts in it and is a natural green. Amazing gelato! Discovered this little wonder on accident while walking down an alley near the Spanish Steps! It had a line out the door which moved extremely quickly! They have Small, Regular, Grande sizes, having 2, 3 or 4 scoops. They also offer gelato shakes which I had never seen before! My brother ordered a regular cone ( dipped in hazelnuts and dried strawberry) and I got a Grande cup. The total amounted to about 10€ for the two of us. I tried the limon granita here and I couldn't have asked for anything more refreshing and delicious in that moment. I thought that this was what granita would then taste like in Italy and was I wrong. I had granita twice after and it was just sweet liquidy icy juice. Not at all like my venchi granita. Lesson I learned - the things that look like slurpy machines are what most gelato shops in tourist areas consider granita. Gross! Venchi has it sitting beside the gelato and its FROZEN. If you're there in the summer you will want this every day. I found venchi in Florence and Vienna as well. Their "frappes" are also delicious, as is their gelato go that matter.
