While waiting, we realized it is primarily a seafood market and take-out orders for cooked food were the main business. But the reviews were great, so we gave it a try. We were amazed at the quality and quantity of food we got. An order of crab claws and shrimp came with over 40 claws and about ten shrimp, all fried to perfection with the best tasting breading ever! The atmosphere was like old time New Orleans, on the wrong side of the tracks. But relax your snobbish standards a bit, and enjoy your seafood the way it is meant to be served!

However, we asked for butter, and our server gave us packets of butter substitute. Doesn't this restaurant have real butter? The gumbo was fairly tasteless and also, they had chopped up whatever seafood was in there so finely that it all just turned into mush. If there was any seafood in there, I sure didn't taste it. The West Indies crab salad was a shocking disappointment. It was a scoop of crab meat, which they ruined by mixing it up with mayo. That's it. An ice cream scoop of canned crab meat mixed with heavy mayo. It's like they didn't even try. The bread pudding left very little impression. It was a little rectangular square. Our server misunderstood us when we said we wanted it topped with ice cream, and served the bread pudding alongside a bowl of five scoops of vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. Then I ordered two additional sides of broccoli and sweet potato Brulé. The flavors of each item danced in my mouth. The red beans and rice tasted like an exquisite marrying of sweet, salty, pepper, spice all in the thick sauce. I closed my eyes with every spoonful. My only disappointment was that the bowl was not larger. The same wonderful feelings came from the butter-steamed broccoli. The broccoli was the perfect consistency. It was not too crunchy, nor was it too soft and limp. The sweet potato Brulé is a sweet purée of sweet potatoes with cinnamon, butter, nutmeg, vanilla and a dash of clove (I think). Did I say butter? There is lots of butter in this Brulé. Everything was delicious.! The atmosphere, our server, the food, and the presentation of the food, all combined to make a wonderful dining experience.
