Quaint little place with a nice outdoor dining area and good service. The burger (a meatloaf sandwich with mac-n-cheese) is good and filling. My co-workers all had a steak sandwich and said it was really good. Looked nice and juicy. And I hear the Creek Trash nachos, with steak, are also good and more than you can eat. The spicy potato salad was good (dressed with a creamy, crawfish/shrimp boil seasoning), but it's a stretch to call it potato salad. More like big chunks of potato with a bit of dressing. Three stars- not the best food ever, but it's good, in a mice atmosphere. Worth an Occasional return trip. read more

This family owned restaurant reminded me so much of The Fish Spot in Texas City, Tx. Except for one part, this one isn't set up mostly as a bar. They have indoor or outdoor seating, if you prefer to see water during your meal. I took a client here (a Mobile native) and she was very happy with her meal, and surprised she didn't know about the place even though it was less than 2 miles from her place of business. We both ordered the same dishes coincidentally (the ribeye steak sandwich), plus I added a cup of gumbo. The service was excellent throughout and food very tasty, especially the steak sandwich. It was thin, but tender and juicy, perfect size for a lunch sandwich. The gumbo was alright, just not like back home. read more

Great place to stop for lunch with the kids. Fun to eat outside and watch a few boats come in or get launched while you eat. Solid kids menu has hot dogs, grilled cheese, chicken tenders and a few other options. About 20 or so adult food options of entrees, sandwiches, and salads. I did the meatloaf and Mac-n-cheese "burger. Kids got grilled cheese and hubby got shrimp salad on a bun and a bowl of gumbo. All food was very enjoyable. Service was very friendly. Food was plentiful. After devouring the gumbo (which was really excellent and my seven-year-old and I indulged quite a bit in Daddy's bowl), we barely made it half way through the meals. I would have taken the leftovers if we didn't have a long drive to a hotel still ahead. Loved the atmosphere! It was a great find. Oh, and the bill for the 4 of us with plenty of food was about $30! My new favorite restaurant! Delicious food with breathtaking views. We went to a Mutts and Mimosas fundraiser for the Saraland Animal Shelter. The outdoor area is dog friendly with a gorgeous view of the Chickasabogue Creek. It's more budget friendly and every bit as beautiful as the Causeway. I had the 5 dollar pitcher of mimosas and a Monte Cristo. It was really good, but all I could smell was the steak sandwich the table next to me had. I'll be going back for it soon! All of the chefs have attended culinary school. They are available for parties and fundraisers. They are only open until 3pm Mon-Wed, but through dinner the rest of the week. Check out their Facebook page for movie nights and even a New Years Eve event coming up. They also have live music on Friday and Sundays. read more

This place is just down from my office and a coworker and I gave it a shot today. It was a great experience from the moment we walked in. We were greeted by a smiling friendly staff who were genuinely glad we were there. The restaurant itself was very clean and decorated perfectly. We each had the "off the hook" burger and potato salad. The burger was large and full of flavor and the potato salad was great. Overall an excellent experience and a welcomed addition to the local food scene. We'll surely be back! read more

Went to Off the Hook for the first time. A fund raiser for the Saraland animal shelter Dogs and Mimosas. The food was really good, a lot of not the usual sandwiches, nachos, and not regular fries. Looking for something different thats really good? Everyone needs to try this place out. Indoor and outdoor dining. Beautiful sunsets from outside. Live music on Friday and Sunday night's. read more

What a great new addition to Chickasaw. This local place just opened and it's worth a check out. We went for Sunday brunch and were not disappointed. The shrimp and grits are really good, and were a steal at $6.75. The bayou bowl, grits topped with red-eye gravy, bacon and jalapenos, was also delicious. I'm not normally a fan of biscuits and gravy, but their biscuit gravy gives mama a run for her money. The prices are really unbeatable for everything on the menu we saw. For kids, there were only two options, including a hot dog, which is fine, but they were nice to substitute a bag of chips from the shop for the Cajun creamy potatoes which I knew the kids wouldn't eat. For lunch there are poboys and sandwiches, and seafood options for dinner. They also have a stage set up outside for live music and a boat dock. read more

Kate and Robin have a outstanding team that believes in customer service. They will adjust to your needs for almost any kind of outing.. Its a simple marina launch restaurant with all the upscale drinks! They have at least half a dozen propane heaters and even picnic tables with a over veiw of all the river activities! This soon will become one of the places on your list of great places to frequently visit. read more

I really try to support local small businesses but I have been here twice about 6-7 months apart and I must be honest....I don't like it. I went with friends for a birthday lunch and the birthday girl is a BIG fan of Off the Hook so we went. I ordered the Trash Nachos; by the menu description they should have been phenomenal. My friend said they were big and loaded and I was so excited because I LOVE good nachos. Bring them on....WOW...what a big disappointment...SUPER BIG disappointment. The chips were cold, the steak was sparse and not seasoned and the cheese was out of a bag and NOT melted at all. It was a tray of nachos that should have been put in the broiler and melted...Who screws up nachos??? After my first experience, I gave them the benefit of the doubt for being newly opened and having growing pains. This time I must be honest. They need some experienced kitchen staff and maybe it will get better. I'll try again, maybe, in a month or two....maybe. read more

If preformed frozen hamburger patties and frozen shrimp are what you like then this is the place for you. I had the burger with the Mac n cheese on top. It wasn't a homemade/In house made burger. This was a restaurant food supplier preformed frozen burger. The Mac n cheese on the top was just ok. Not very cheesy and mine was actually cool in the center. My mother had the spicy shrimp poboy. The ratio of shrimp to bread was far off. I tasted one of the shrimp and I would be willing to bet they were frozen also. The spicy potato salad wasn't noteworthy nor the pasta salad. Love going to new places and we walked away saying, "well, we tired it but probably will not be coming back. Service was great. They were all very friendly and from what I could tell there was at least one person in there that is a regular because they knew his order before he even took a seat. That does say a lot about a place. Bottom line it just wasn't for me. Give it a try and be your own judge or take my advice and save your money. read more

Relaxing riverside brunch on Sunday. Good food. Not too pricey. 5 dollar mimosa pitchers. Orange juice and pineapple mixed. Brunch menu limited and changes but you probably could ask for anything and they will cook it. Great view. Good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Live music on weekends. So glad this place is here in Chickasaw. Just down the road, full service bar, very nice sitting outside in this "fall" weather. Good utilization of this old marina property. They will be expanding soon. SPEND LOCAL people. This place has great potential. Lived in Chickasaw 20 years. It's still got a lot of good points. This is one of them. read more

I ordered to-go for my husband and I last night. We will definitely dine in to enjoy the outdoor space and music next time. I had the Blackened Fish PoBoy with slaw, the warm hoagie made the sandwich fabulous and the fish was seasoned wonderfully but not spicy, topped with a fresh romaine leaf and tomato slices. The slaw was a sweet, celery seed slaw with very little creaminess, not bad. My husband ordered the Holy Cow which is a Ribeye Sandwich. I would describe it as a beefed up Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich. It was on the same warm bread as the PoBoy and topped with grilled red bell peppers and onions. It was my favorite of the 2 sandwiches. We also split some gumbo, and it wasn't bad. My only complaint is that there was fresh rosemary in it and I like for rosemary to be removed before serving(like put it in a spice bag then remove it) otherwise it's a bad texture like biting into a bay leaf. But flavor was pretty delicious. I give this place 5 stars for great atmosphere, great service(even though it was to-go they were warm and nice), and great food. Go try it out! read more
