3.7 I asked her not to clip my nails, she clipped my right big toe on the left side of it (I guess so it can match the right side of it) but I didn't ask for that. & then I didn't even realize in the salon that my right foot has either another lay of polish or thicker layers of polish. Idk if you can see it but I can now. And yes it's a small difference but a difference shouldn't even be there Other than that it's a good pedicure. $40 But I really didn't want my nail clipped in even the slightest because it was already uneven on one side. read more

I have been going to this place for years now. They are friendly and the place is clean with great, friendly people. Their services are also reasonably priced. They only accept, cash, Venmo and Zelle. There is a small parking that they share with other businesses so it could be packed on certain days. read more

I usually get a pedicure and a biogel manicure. This is the only place in the area that actually gives me nails that last longer than a week. The staff are friendly. They will take care of you. read more

Sadly the nail salon is going downhill and the prices uphill! The service is not great! I got a simple manicure nothing special and the nail tech didn't file my nails and rushed through the service. Also, I question their hygiene, the tools came out of a dirty ziploc bag. And nail polish looks like they mix with water. Definitely, not going back anytime soon :( read more

It's a holiday weekend I did not ask for anything outrageous or special. I did ask for straight across no curve. This is the gel pedicure I received. I wanted to cry. It looks like my child did them. Not to mention the 4 cuts from the electric file.... I know ugly toes. Just wanted pretty toenails..... read more

Velvet Nails - Nails by Michael at Velvet Nails - Nail Salons Near Me - Sherman Oaks, California

I've been coming to Velvet Nails since 2018 when my sister first introduced me to them. I love Michael, Tina, Vivian, Larry, the whole staff! They are the loveliest people who provide great service to their clients. I will always continue to come back to Velvet Nails read more

I usually love it here and have been going for years. The last time I got cut because the nail tech was going way too fast and seemed to be looking away as he cut. Today my gel pedicure took 20 minutes. He (same person) was super rough, and he was racing the entire time. Instead of treating myself and relaxing with a little pampering, I was stressed and tense. Don't get me wrong, the staff is very sweet. It's this one nail tech that stresses me out. I should just request someone else. It's like he's in a hurry to finish and get the next client. Not a good experience. I think I need to find a new place. read more

Super but I mean super bad service!! Been coming here for years & notice that their work has been becoming really poor. Called today to book a pedicure appointment with Ling & when I came in it was kinda busy had to wait 30 mins even though I made an appointment with ling at 6:30pm. Finally I was sat down just for her to do a rushed pedicure cut me badly twice when I told her about it she brushed it off & started to talk about me in her language. The whole thing was done in 15 mins . When I asked her that I wanted extra massage that I was going to pay extra for she said no because she was to busy & had another client coming in which made no sense because I made an appointment. Worst part was that she chased me down as if I wasn't going to pay for the service & then demanded I tipped her . Yeah definitely didn't give her a tip for a half ass sloppy job. Never coming here again !! Especially with the unprofessional rude owner Michael . read more

Good service, I like coming back here, they have good service and fair pricing, comfy massage chairs. I only would have more generic relaxing music and something more zen on the tv (they play random Asian shows with food markets and culture which is interesting but it's not the zen vibe one looks for while having a manicure in my very personal opinion) read more

I'm so mad. I've been here 3 times and they always charge me $28 for pedicure and they overcharged me this time. I had to get 2 acrylic big toes but it's $5 each. I have proof on my Venmo transactions how much I usually pay and I know they up charged me. Also, it's so annoying that I got asked 4 times to put gel polish instead of regular. Like she did not accept no the first time. The whole staff made me feel like a side show too they all kept coming over to look at my feet! I'm already self conscious about my feet and I felt so uncomfortable. Some guy came to do the acrylics and he poked my toes so hard with the drill in my skin I said owww and he didn't even bother saying sorry or going softer. I will never come back here again. The way I felt and the way they kept trying to force a service on me was too much. And if manager wants to reach out I'd gladly show the transactions on my Venmo account. I know they charged me more. The only reason why I tipped was because the girl who was actually doing my pedicure was so sweet. read more

I just went over there to take off my gel x and the guy whose name is Tuy Pham, he started to take my nail with something like a nail clippers with our using acetone to make it softer like a eceryother place and he start on one finger, and I'm shock he said this is he's method and when he start second finger he take all my reslk nail with that fake nail all together a lit of blood came from my nail and I'm very upset I almost want to cry and he even not said sorry he said you are very sensitive this is nothing and I'm a nurse I know after this bad cut if my finger start to infection is not good so I will go to the hospital and the rest of process I will go to the court he is very unprofessional person I'm not believe if even he's certificate is real or fake I will find it out read more

Just dropped in for a mani/pedi from very nice people! Am here every month and will keep coming!

They charged me $30 to remove my gel manicure which they didn't fully remove. When they asked if I wanted a manicure I said no. They asked if I wanted them 'cleaned up' and I said sure, thinking they meant filed. They removed the color from my nails but not the bottom gel coat. Trimmed my cuticles and cut my pinky. Filed my nails and put some lotion on my hands. $30. When he told me the total I said what that's too much? He just kept saying I got a manicure and I kept saying I did not. Ended up paying. Called and explained my dissatisfaction, and he just kept saying we cleaned up your nails. I will never go back. Would not recommend. read more

Went in to get my old dip manicure removed and a regular manicure put on...THEY RIPPED IT OFF. No acetone. They stuck a thick piece of plastic in between a lift between the real nail and the dip part, and it felt like torture...especially when she jammed it into my skin and I started bleeding. To make matters worse, she tried to push a gel manicure on me three times after I said no, and she charged me extra for the horrific dip manicure removal! You don't get to cut corners, make your client bleed, and then charge them extra for the experience. Absurd. read more

The service was just awful. My gel manicure was rushed, the filing was so rough I asked for it to be stop, he didn't. My cuticles are uneven. The gel color is on the side of my nails along with the top coat. I asked for it to be cleaned up, didn't happen. My color is smeared, and again I pointed it out and nothing. I have gel top coat on the inside of my nails and not once did he use acetone to remove it. I am so incredibly disappointed considering it was just a gel manicure. I paid $43 for a less than decent job and should've trusted my intuition when I sat down and had acetone dripping down my hands with the foil. I can't even appreciate any of it because the service, detail and overall experience was awful. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THIS was definitely the worst experience I've had ST VELVET NAILS!! Let start off by saying the lady who sits in front did them. I simply asked for a SOAK OFF, she proceeded with a ripping off of my nails!! Literally the worst pain ever because she was so careless and blamed it on the facts that I had nails prior to. NO. She literally had no concern about caring or nurturing my real nails. Didn't even try to be gentle. Even after making all 3 fingers bleed no sorry nothing!! Just blaming it on the person prior to that did my nails. No you're just being careless. After she cut me she put blue solution on it and some thin paper and still tried to freaking keep cutting.. it was damn near bare skin not a nail in sight. She had already yanked my shit off. CARELESS Even after I kept asking her. I couldn't stop the process either because I had somewhere to be within a few hours and needed them all off. This unprofessional "soak off" turned into my shredded nailed HEALING FOR WEEKS!!! And my damn pedi the old dude did them. And yeah his ass don't understand shit you say. I asked for square shape he proceeded to square round and was rushing like a mfer!!!! read more

Clean establishment. Good attention and sanitization to nails for basic pedicure. During covid 19 they have all precautions in place. Temperature check when you walk in. Paperwork to check in. Plastic shields around all chairs and all employees practicing hand washing and sanitizer and cleanliness. I felt this was ok and had not had a pedicure in months due to covid. The reviews should be higher. Courtesy and clean and good pedicures. Nice employees. Would recommend read more

This is the worst nail salon ever. The first time I went there the girl doing my nails fell asleep so I told the owner who didn't even lift her head from her TV. She then said, "she'll wake up & do for you." I told her no, & I waited for someone else. I swore I would not go there again, but because my girlfriend recommended them & it was convenient, I tried again. Once again I had another bad experience because the male nail salon caused my finger to bleed because he jabbed, usingthe pointy metal tool, under the thumbs nail bed, & I said "no more", never again. read more

Been coming here for years and get the best treatment for mani pedis! Good clean self care!

Came in to do 1 nail. Asked for it so be done with gel. The girl that did my nail said it's not a problem. First she tried to pill off the broken nail with her own nail which was extremely unpleasant and not hygiene at all. Later she glued a plastic nail on, I told her it's not what I asked for and she said she can't do it with gel (she maybe can't and she should have told me prior). She glued the plastic nail in a very sloppy way (my skin was glued and part of the plastic nail wasn't). That is how you damage your nails. I stopped her and asked to remove it and not continue to apply the top coat/ material and that I want it removed. Since that moment of course she was very rude and impatient. When she tried to remove she tried to use her nail again instead of proper tools and she sent me with some glue left on my nail. She literally walked away in my face and no one would help, everyone ignored me. No gloves were used. Not hygiene at all and no attention to the quality of their work. Even if I came in for 1 nail, either don't accept me if it doesn't pay off for you or do my nails in a way that will not cause damage to my natural nail. read more

Walked in here for a nail service. I was in the area and needed to kill time before seeing a client. I'm new to the nail game, I like the added protection and look of a gel x set, but it does destroy your actual nails. I am still learning how to take care, sustain, the rhythm of it all. I am also not a loyal customer of anyone spot, I'm all over the place. That being said, i was thinking I should take them off and let them breathe, maybe just a simple gel mani on my real nails. Removal was professional and careful, then she did a very thorough manicure and topp'd it off with a simple gel. $45. Fair, i guess. On one hand, I've noticed services prices go up, which I hope is a move toward fair pricing and the elimination of tips, All in all, i paid $50. Which IMO is a little steep, but she did a great job and my nails look healthy considering how I have defiled them for the past 6 months. I guess my issue with the cost is the fact that the studio is very run-down and a little yucky, on the up-side clientele is interesting, a lot of locals go here, I also noticed that this place was very accommodating to men and people with disabilities. read more

I've been here 3 times & the last time was yesterday. I usually get a solid nail color but this time decided I wanted spring nails with a simple flower design. Larry- the nail tech did my nails in such a rush! He shaved off some of my skin while filing. He didn't even apologize:(.. I complained about some white nail polish he left on the blue tip and when I did he responded with "it's not bad, it's small" After sometime he did remove the white nail polish- within a second! Idk why he gave me such a hard time when it absolutely didn't take him any time to fix his mess up. As you can see the flowers are horrible they look like star fish lol I couldn't stand them so I'm in the process of removing them with my own gel machine. I hate that I always feel bad voicing my opinion with nail techs when they don't do a good job - I am the one paying for them after all. read more
