John of VELOFIX arrived, began assembling bike, discovred error codes (30) and continued to put the bike together rather than box it up and ship it back. He then just left it with me (despite my objections so I should have put it in the garbage. So for $250.00 (assembly VELOFIX.COM) and #2000.00 (RADPOWERBIKE.COM) I got a bike that never worked, is sitting in my studio with the box and apparently no one has any intention of fixing this or shipping it back. RAD and VELOFIX work together and it would have been more convenient if they just stole the money instead of dropping off bike and box and wasting a day or two of my time getting shitty notes from RAD. Go elsewhere. Too many problems, poor service, and unreliable scheduling. I have used these guys about 6 times, and only 2 of those times has it gone well, and it's because they had one really good guy (Jeff) who has since quit. My first experience was so good, and he did such a good job it was nothing but downhill from there. Do yourself a favor and find another place to get a bike worked on. You will be happier. The bad first started when a guy came to do a tuneup on my bike, supposed to be they pull up in front of your house, this guy parked a block away. When I mentioned this firmly but with respect, the technician had an attitude "well I'm parked now". My building has a huge driveway with plenty of space to turn around... he didn't ask about (nobody asked about) and they obviously don't keep records on customers because the previous guy came into driveway and did his work there. Second he did not wear a mask or gloves. There is a global pandemic and DMV is a "hotspot" around the country right now, AND it's required by Virginia that all business operators coming into contact with public wear a mask and gloves. 100,000 people are dead, but oh well. This technician knew all that. The technician was not wearing a mask or gloves both times I interacted with him. First time I let that go. Second time I saw technician upon coming back to get my bike (1+ block from my house - he didn't bother moving the truck to my driveway), he still was not wearing a mask or gloves and was hovering on top of my bike. When i came to get my bike he just stood there. I said "hey can you move back you are not wearing a mask" he then makes a snide comment "i'm not wearing a mask because I don't have the virus" Seriously unbelievable and unsafe. Not following Virginia rules of operation for business. I had a couple words and left with my bike.Chris the owner was made aware by me and he said it's his policy to have all staff wear masks and gloves and he will address, but not good this guy Mike is out there not protecting other people. I'm pissed off about it still. So I'm paying money to have a guy put me at risk for a deadly virus??? Not ok and just indicative to the type of operation they seem to be running. This guy was unprofessional in just about every way. He did do a good job on the bike, except did not put air in the tires. This incident above with the no mask protestor was after another annoying problem where guy showed up and said "I dont' work on ebikes" When I booked an appointment I said it was for an ebike in the comments, and the only business I have ever done with them is ebike, so if they had records on me they would see "oh he has an ebike" Well I put on my schedule made the time available and nice mechanic guy comes. Soon as he opens the door he is like "Oh I don't work on ebikes" "You should have said it was an ebike" Me "I did say it was an ebike and velofix built this bike for me" Anyhow total waste of my time and now it messed up my plans as I was leaving town for a week. Had to reschedule and get someone else to come out. I should have walked away and never used Velofix after these 2 things, but still the best solution for me. I am sure I'm not that easy to deal with at times, but I was always courteous with these guys, never yelled at them or never called them any names and there was reason to at least a couple times. But, I tried again and it went better this time, though the technician was not super helpful, but in the end he did his job and got the bike operational. It was a repair job. BUT the technicians attitude was very laissez faire and just didn't really feel like he was doing much to try to help. Scheduling with them is also usually a bit of a mess. They will change your appointment time without discussing. recently they changed the appointment time 2 times, sent me 3 or 4 confusing emails asking questions I had answered in the form when I booked the appointment online. And then they changed it again back to the original time. This is all quite a pain to manage, you have change your calendar, make sure you are free, and I have had to do that almost every time I have booked Velofix. I'm so frustrated that I wanted to share with others so maybe 1) the owner will finally try to address problems with his service 2) other people can avoid the frustrations of working with this company. read more

I booked an appointment with Velofix to come out to box up my bike for shipping. The time of the appointment came and nobody showed up. I called Velofix and they rescheduled the appointment for 2 weeks later. The SAME THING HAPPENED. Do not work with this company, as apparently they are utterly incompetent at scheduling. read more

My first, and last, experience with velofix. Subcontracted them to build a new bike I had delivered, through Canyon Bikes, only to learn that this service - which costs several hundred dollars BTW - doesn't include even the tinniest adjustment to the seat height, or anything else. I mentioned to the tech that after he sets it up, I should hop on to see it it's correct - and he flipped out. "We don't do fittings!" Umm, calm down sir, I never asked you for a fitting. He then started instructing me to read the contract I signed about what he will, and more importantly, will NOT do (which apparently includes moving the seat down .5 inches if needed), and he's built thousands of bikes, and he doesn't need me to tell him anything, and I don't know anything, etc...I just sat there kind of stunned. I've worked in service industries my whole life - this was pretty surprising. I then mentioned I was unhappy that I had booked the service, and that if it wasn't too late I'd like to cancel and get a refund. He stated flatly, no, there would be no refund. Canyon doesn't offer that. Wow. We agreed to part ways, and I'm pursuing my claim with Canyon. read more

The definition of outstanding service. I ordered the upgraded maintenance (129 dollars) on my bike. The rep came right on time. After a check, he advised me that I only really needed the regular maintenance 89 bucks. What outstanding integrity. Then, my bike turned out to be messed up. Chain was in backwards and link damaged. I had to leave, so the rep offered to come back when I got home from work at 730pm. Again, he was right on time. After all that work, he was still going to honor his suggestion if 89 bucks. I only wish there was a way to give these guys more than 5 stars. I'd been having bike trouble for months starting back in December. My wheel was aligned poorly and ultimately ended up riding up against my bike frame, making it almost impossible to get the bike anywhere due to the constant friction. I work in Crystal City and saw the signs about a mobile bike repair during the summer and decided to try it out. Alex and Sean were absolutely incredible. I brought my bike over and explained the issue, and they were almost immediately able to diagnose the loose fittings that were causing my wheel to track off. I left my bike with them and got a call back within 2 hours explaining that they had not only fixed the wheel, but they also fixed several other issues they found with my brake lines, handlebars, and seat. I picked up my bike, and it's been running without a hitch now for almost two months. This was my first time using Velofix and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Merlyn came to my place, arrived early, and did a fantastic job. I wanted to convert my bike from a drop bar 2x10 to a flat bar 1x11 - basically from a gravel bike to a city-cruiser "dad" bike with a child seat on the back. I needed a brake cut, brake bleed, and indexing set up on the rear derailleur. Merlyn diligently worked on the bike and within the prescribed time, did a great job. He also checked all the bolts and made sure they were to torque specs. After he was done, he took the time to explain all the features of the new bike - the clutch on the rear derailleur and gave me some other tips to keep the bike running well and long! Scheduled the appointment on a Wednesday or Thursday and they were able to come out on Saturday. When bike shops are booked out for weeks, Velofix is a no brainer with competitive prices. I really hate taking my road bike to the bike store for maintenance and repairs, so what could be better than to have a bike store come to your front door. Alex showed up within the appointed time and showed me around the good-looking velofix van - the retail section and repair area. There is even an expresso machine! I am so happy to write this review about my wonderful experience with doing business with Velofix. I have had three positive encounters with Velofix representative's Chris, CEO and Jeff, Master Technician, together they make an awesome team. Two months ago, I purchased a RadPower electric bike; I contacted Velofix to assemble my electric bike, for awareness Velofix is endorsed by RadPower, as their official technicians in servicing their bikes. After Chris assembled my bike, he took the time to show me the feathers of my bike, and how to operate. Chris suggested that I take the bike for a test run, to ensure I was happy with the results and to make certain I understood how to operate my bike. I was so happy. My second encounter was when Velofix installed my two baskets and a front rack. Jeff with Velofix showed up on time, and installed the front rack/basket, and rear basket. Afterwards, chatted with me about how the basket is attached, and to understand the basket is attached to the bike, not the handlebars, and that the awkwardness of the bike requires getting use to. He encouraged me to take the bike for a ride, so I could see how the front basket is an adjustment that I would have to get used to. Installing the basket on the front of my bike was a mistake, because it added more weight to the front, and made it difficult to maneuver my bike, thus in the same day later that evening after work, I fell off my bike. I called Jeff after 6PM, he answered. He did not have to take my call, or reply to my texts, but he did. Jeff listen to my concerns, he tried to help me resolve some of the issues I was having with my electric bike after the fall. I was upset, startled, nervous, and disappointed, by talking to him, he helped to relieve my stress at the time. I was grateful for his help and understanding, he reassured me not to worry that he can fix my bike, and for me to send him photos. After talking to him, I was more relaxed and could think more clearly. I called RadPower in Seattle, Washington for assistance, and ordered new parts. For my third appointment with Velofix, Jeff showed up to come to my rescue, fixed my bike, restored it to new, by removing the front basket/rack, replaced one of the brake sensors, and replaced the lever to my gears. He suggested I take my bike for a test ride, to make certain I was happy with the end results. Plus, he left me with a Washington, DC 2019 Bike Map, so I am good to go. I am so happy to have discovered Velofix. I love the convenience of door service, and the customer service is superb. Trust me, if you need bike service, Velofix is capable of fixing your bike on the spot, and you will appreciate the affordable customer service. I am a very happy customer - I love my RadPower bike. Great customer service and great solution lately for not having to go to a business in person to get much needed service on my bikes. My family has been riding a lot more this summer thanks to "social distancing" and this has been an invaluable solution. I've had three bikes worked on by them and all have been top notch service (one tune, two tune/assemblies). I love the flexibility to just set a time and they come to the house and take care of the rest without any unnecessary interaction. I also feel much safer with my son's bike knowing it was dialed in perfectly. I'm just a casual rider with "regular" bikes and they had them all running perfectly. Got a new Canyon Aeroad and paid for the Velofix install. The installer stripped the headset bolt threads on the compression plug. Headset bolt came loose on my first ride and almost crashed. Ended up returning the Canyon Aeroad. 6 months later get texts from Velofix to service a bike that I do not have anymore because of their mistake. Although they seem professional, I would not recommend using them for a Canyon bike setup / install. read more

I was out on a bike ride with my friend - we started at The Sam Smith Park, (I rode down from the Ballard area), and my friend was very disappointed with my poorly cared for bike and extremely loud, dried out and cranky chain! He was not happy with me as we, or I should say I, loudly departed on our 3-hour plus ride. As we made our way on the I-90 Trail and up through Bellevue, we spotted a Velofix Van at our stop light. As we crossed, I waved down Kyle and asked if he could help me out. Without hesitation, he pulled over and hooked me up and greased up my chain!
