OK I said, I can wait and fast forward no communication that the bike was there. So I call and they told me the bike was there but not built so I wait another 2 weeks. Still no call and so I call them back and they say "Sorry your bike won't be here until Dec." I told them that someone told them my bike was there but they said it probably got confused with the electric model of the bike that I didn't order. It was quite a frustrating experience and I have no bike. I got my down payment back but no apology, no remorse. I recommend going somewhere else if you are trying to order a bike. read more

Great customer service. I went twice looking for a bike. Both times, the employees were helpful in explaining all options and pros and cons of everything. I was able to use the website to check what other similar bikes they have in stock. Went in the second time and the website was accurate. I was given the opportunity to test ride the bike with no hassle. Bought the bike instantly. I'd like to take the time and write a good review for The Bike Lane as it has become my favorite place during the pandemic! Sure the lines are long but it's worth waiting in line and getting your bike fixed or in my case complete a restoration or modifications. So far I've taken 2 bikes there, the first time Corrine helped out and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. More recently I discussed updating a road bike to a hybrid bike that I was doing and asking Derrick if he could help put together the new components some of which I had already installed. He took the time to explain the different components and when I finally received the parts that I had personally ordered a month later he put everything together today! The bike looks great and it's a special feeling when your restored bike finally comes alive! I love this place and recommend it and have another project (just a frame for now) in mind that I may be taking to The Bike Lane in the weeks to come. I have purchased bikes and gear from the Bike Lane but this review is more about their repair and customer service. Please read carefully. About 3 years ago the TREK bike I wanted was on sale. But the Bike Lane didn't have one in stock and couldn't get one before the end of season sale ended. So ... they called around and found someone who had one in stock and sent me there. This is the only bike store in the area, that I I'm aware of, that had new 2021 Trek bikes in stock. The pandemic has greatly driven up the demand for bikes and shops nearby said they would not have new Marlin Trek bikes until fall 2021. Someone told me about this shop and I was able to reserve the bike for my son with a small deposit and go pick it up more than a month later. (He had already been fitted so I knew what size frame and bike to buy) The compact store was neatly arranged. The staff seemed efficient and focused. The old Bike Lane (still have the old signs, but doesn't say Trek on the outside...funny) You pay for the Trek name for the service and it feels more like taking your car to a dealership for maintenance . Brought my sons mountain bike to get the bike wheel replaced and they tried to sell me on a $300-400 service. All repairs, to include a new chain and gear shifter cost approximately $200. The said the repair make take a couple days, but it was over a week. read more

I wish I could be more enthusiastic about Bike Lane, but this place was just OK. First, the good. The customer service was great. When I dropped off my bike, the person who received it took the time to confirm exactly what needed to be done to my bike, and to confirm the parts. They print out a receipt with the expected cost so you know what you're getting into ahead of time. And when I called to check on my bike, they actually called FedEx to check on the shipping status of a part. I also like how when you pick up the bike, your receipt prints all the project notes on the receipt itself so there's no communication issues. Although I was aware of the prices ahead of time, I was also somewhat appalled by them. The tune up was $50, but it turns out it doesn't include much at all. It only includes putting air in the tires and adjusting the wires. It doesn't include the mandatory $5 "environmental fee." It doesn't include replacing brakes/brake pads. It doesn't even include cleaning the bike. It gives you 50% off labor for repairs, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper just to get the repair without the tune-up (since they have to adjust the wires as a prerequisite to most repairs). And then I asked for Kool Stop brakes for biking in the rain, which is pretty standard request, and they had to special order the part. That was surprising to me. I had a Living Social deal, but I still question whether this was the best value for me. I paid about $65 for everything with the deal, but without a coupon, it would've been $110. I know bike shops that charge $70-$75 "full price" so I wouldn't come here without the Living Social deal. read more

I understand that bike shops are very busy during these times and I was pleased when the Bike Lane committed to fixing my bike within 2 business days. They even said "we'll call you if we get it done sooner". They gave me a ticket with the price. Over a week later I called to see what was going on. They said they had to order a part and that it will now cost about 2 to 3 times what they told me. Another week later I called and the person said the part was in. He then chatted with the mechanic. He came back and told me that he has no idea when the part could possibly be installed. He said "it's a good problem to have, we have so much business". He said they could send the bike off to a store in some other city, he can't guarantee they could possibly get it done soon but he thinks they can. Would I be able to pick it up there some day in the future? Other bike shops were completely honest about how long service would take. The Bike Lane took my bike, made it seem an easy fix and then sat on it without calling me when developments happened that severely affected cost and schedule. Look elsewhere folks! We are all trying to ride our bikes this summer I'm sure. read more

This is my neighborhood bike start and they are amazing. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable, seriously, they know their stuff. The have an in-house repair shop and make adjustments and repairs on the fly, most times, while I wait. They can handle larger repairs too. They have a full stock of Trek bikes and a certified fitter on staff to help buyers make a bike selection that meets their cycling needs. Bike Lane staff are experts at cycling but they eagerly help the novice in a positive way, they are not condescending, they like to share their love of cycling with newbies like me and advanced riders. Bike Lane is a decent place to buy a bike but service-wise, the shop is seriously lacking. I've purchased well over 11k in bikes and goods here but I don't think I'll be doing that again. Staff is knowledgeable. Friendly? It depends on who you're talking to I suppose. Service on the hand, I believe you can get much much better service elsewhere. The first time I bought bikes there, the sales person made sure that both bikes were properly fitted to the person using it. The second time a bike was purchased, which was well over the cost of the previous two bikes, two sales /service staff was content to let me walk out without so much as asking if adjustments should be made. Disappointing really after such an expensive purchase. This attitude also seems to be common with maint services and/or fixes. Recently needed a spoke replaced in a wheel. Was told it would be 48 hours. 2 days later was informed that the spoke was still not replaced AND that they had no idea when it would be. They said they were backed up with other work but my suspicion is that the shop was placing higher priority on more expensive jobs, no matter the order they came in. Took the wheel to another bike shop located in Springfield near Home Depot. Was also told about 48 hours. However later got a call the same day saying the wheel was fixed. Not only that they had cleaned the wheel and even threw in a free qr skewer. You definitely would not get this level of service at Bike Lane, at least not anymore. read more

This place is awesome and loaded with first class customer service - I just recently purchased (3) e-bikes and had a small issue with one of the bikes. Very hard to argue with the staff as they are just ultra friendly. Do not order from this place!!! I understand bikes are on back order but they are not upfront with you on the timeline. I ordered bikes in Sept and was told an early October arrival as the bikes were already shipped. One was received but they have no idea what happened with the other and are now saying it will arrive in APR 2021. Seems to be the staff can not handle the business and blame the company for the delay. Recommend you find another bike shop to purchase from as they seem to be overwhelmed and can not keep process your order in a timely fashion. read more

I bought a Trek Domane SL from the Reston store last March and had a great experience with the folks there. I followed up with a bike fit and again, great service and fit. My bike started "creaking" and brought it into the Springfield shop today (4th of July) expecting to drop it off and loose a few days of riding. The mechanic ( did not get his name) took the bike after listening to my incorrect diagnosis for what I thought would be a quick check. Instead he examined the bottom bracket and determined it needed some lube, then checked the headset, cables, and entire bike while I waited. Great service, no charge, and made my day. I'm a serious road cyclist and this bike shop features a couple of brands I prefer most, Trek and Bontrager. The selection is excellent for such a small store. However, on the customer service end I'm never waited on and in some instances not even a hello. I usually wait on myself. It happened again today and the store was virtually empty. Not sure why that keeps happening but I hope they will address it soon or lose my interest/business for good. read more

What a great experience. I took my bike in for a pedal recall, and mentioned that my rear fender was rubbing on the tire. Larry, the service mgr put my bike on the rack and spent at least 45 min working out a solution to fix the issue. He said it was covered and would be no charge. I've been here several times for bike maintenance and repair. I've had a fork rebuilt, drivetrain components replaced and minor adjustments. The maintenance team has been great every time. Great bike shop with great mechanics who want to help get you back on the saddle ASAP. My wife and I have been coming here for about 2 years and have always received good advice and good deals on some gear. My wife bought her bike here and they have made any small adjustments and repairs free of charge. This is a Trek dealer so many of the bikes and equipment are trek or bontrager. The mechanics are very knowledgeable with quick turnaround. Overall a great shop and like someone else wrote the small price difference will be made up with one visit to the shop. As an intermediate rider, I was looking for expertise to get my wife and I into biking. When I walked in, I was instantly greeted and the staff went straight into actually listening to me instead of shoving something in my face without knowing what I want. When I asked about a specific type of riding I was shown different types of bikes in all price ranges until I heard what I was looking for. They were patient and understanding that not everyone is an expert rider. After I chose a bike style, I was given further specifics on each bike type. After I chose the bike(s), they let me test ride it! Yep... walked it out the door and rode around for about 5 mins. I'm not talking supervised riding either, I was off to my own devices and had a blast. They allow you to test drive your bike and see the differences. Needless to say, I was ready to ride off and helped me pick between the different bikes. Staff was awesome; bike choices top notch; free tuneups for the life of your bike; knowledgeable staff... I have gone here three times. The first two times I got some friendly, free advice. Today, however, I went in with more of a problem. My moving company had mistakenly driven the plug in one of my shocks into the body of the shock, and shock oil was everywhere. I went in to Bike Lane and, in about 15 minutes, Derek the tech had fixed the problem, for a very reasonable fee. I needed my rear calipers adjusted as well, and although I could do it myself I told them to do that while I was in the shop, as I felt I may as well give them the business and support my local shop. The adjustment was also very reasonably priced. I was out of the shop in under 20 minutes. When I went in I figured my chances of riding this weekend were nil, and I walked out ready to go. The Bike Lane people know their stuff, and really do want to help you enjoy riding. Their bikes are a little overpriced, but they do provide free support for them after purchase, and all it takes is one repair and you will likely cover any price difference. read more

I have returned every now and then, sometimes with long gaps in between, and they always help me out! The staff is super friendly and helpful. Ride Globally. Shop Locally. The Bike Lane is your neighborhood bike shop where you know the mechanics and owners by name. My first time in the shop back a few years ago was a good experience. My bike on the other hand may not have been so happy to be there. Mostly due to my own neglect it needed an overhaul of its brakes and drive train components. After being in the shop for a few minutes I got the instant bug to buy a new bike......Let's fast forward a few years and a couple of higher end bikes later and my experiences with the Bike Lane have only gotten better and I find myself there more than my savings account would like. Todd and Anne (the owners) are involved in all things two wheeled bike related. Community involvement for bike advocacy and sponsorship of local races and charitable events. Whether its a tune up, flat tire or new bike purchase, the friendly and knowledgeable staff can take care of all your needs. There is something to be said about supporting the local shop even if it may be a few bucks more than that big Internet giant discounter or chain. Look for the bike lane sprinter at your next local event or ladies learn to ride clinic at a nearby county park. The shop and the mechanics are great. Service is a little on the expensive side, but you know it will be done right the first time. As for the shop, the only redeeming factor is they carry Surly and Niner brand bikes. I bought a Surly there and am VERY pleased. Otherwise, everything else is Trek and Bontrager stuff, which I find overpriced and overrated. Inventory is on the slim side. If you are in need of shop tools, grease (not chain lube), or anything else for the person who actually does their own basic maintenance, go to Performance Bike (yea, I know). Sales staff was low-key and not pushy but were definitely helpful and attentive. They also knew their bikes and helped educate somebody new to real cycling. They let me take test spins and after each one, would explain how the bike reacted to pavement vs trail, etc. The store was clean, had a nice selection of bikes and accessories, while also having some repair shop staff in the back. They have nice add-ons already installed on the bike such as a kickstand and water bottle holder for a fair price. They gave the bike a once-over before I left. The rep tossed me a map of VA bike trails, which was awesome. I am glad I followed his advice on which bike to get because when I rode home, I ended up taking hard roads and trails, to which the bike held up perfectly. I would give 4.5 stars if I could, with the only deduction being for the shop being a little overpriced and somewhat crowded, which I don't care for. I know the shop can't control how many people show up, but I think the service (while excellent) could go faster to get people out of the store who are making small parts purchases, etc. Again, depute not being a "5 Star" review, I would definitely go back here for future purchases. The Bike Lane in Springfield has an amazing staff of knowledgeable bikers, road and MTB. I bought my MTB there and they have made, at my request, numerous improvements and kept the bike tuned up. That is one of the perks of this store as well, they do tune ups for free if you buy the bike there. I recently brought a couple of bikes in to have rebuilt for some local kids who needed bikes, what an amazing job they did. They also take donation bikes for a charity, altogether great bunch of people I can't wait to get to their brewery at the other location. read more

This place is pretty good, if you need to get your bike service. I had wheel hub serviced and upon picking it up, the hub became even more wobbly. They were quick to help out and found it was missing some bearings. That should've been noticed/fixed before I came to pick it up. The guy behind the counter was good and fixed the issue for the other mechanic that failed. However, this is not a good place to buy accessories as the options are very limited. I know it's good to support local bike shops but it's really hard to buy when the selections are limited. I can't speak for buying their bikes, i know several of friends bought from them and appeared to be happy with their bike purchases. read more
