Sure the lines are long but it's worth waiting in line and getting your bike fixed or in my case complete a restoration or modifications. So far I've taken 2 bikes there, the first time Corrine helped out and she was very knowledgeable and helpful. More recently I discussed updating a road bike to a hybrid bike that I was doing and asking Derrick if he could help put together the new components some of which I had already installed. He took the time to explain the different components and when I finally received the parts that I had personally ordered a month later he put everything together today! The bike looks great and it's a special feeling when your restored bike finally comes alive! I love this place and recommend it and have another project (just a frame for now) in mind that I may be taking to The Bike Lane in the weeks to come. These guys know their stuff and prior to the pandemic I'd just do minor repairs myself but now with more time to ride it's a different game! Happy Bicycling!

Handy Bikes also carries a variety of bike brands such as Specialized, Giant, LIV, and Moots (titanium) Cycles. I haven't purchased a bike from them but I've used their Service Center multiple times. The mechanics are polite and competent. I also appreciate the text message updates. Each issue has been resolved to my satisfaction and I am grateful for the reasonable prices. Brick and mortar bike shops are going away. However, the community still needs safe spaces to gather. Support your local bike shops & enjoy the ride.

Handy Bikes took it and fixed it right away over a year ago and I haven't had a problem since. Since then, they've been my go to for all service issues and have been stellar. They're truly the best, so glad I found this shop and I won't go anywhere else!

I am in the 40+ crowd and I value good alignment and the right fit for my family. I appreciate they carry a wide variety of widths as my family all wear wides. This brings me to our last experience. My partner doesn't always love trying on shoes but I find it's the best way to get proper fitting shoes for him. We tried on a few as the new version of his current pair no longer fit so well. 2 team members went to the back at the same time. I could hear one of them very clearly say jeez thanks for taking them they're a handful laughing. I mean if you're going to talk about clients at least do it quietly. Just because I can't see you doesn't mean I can't hear you. The person getting the different shoes wasn't even asking any follow up questions about how does this feel or any follow up to help facilitate finding the right fit. I bought the damn shoes because my husband needed them and I shouldn't have. Nordstrom is far and I hate the parking but at least they value their customers. Pacers doesn't carry as many wides in stock at the location closest to us. I've never felt this way before. We won't be back.

I had been less than enthusiastic since our last tandem bike jaunt in DC left me ragged and looking forward to the end. We rented a tandem bike from a known rental in DC; the bike was rickety and took effort even on the completely flat route we were on. My GF found Pedego and opted for the tandem electric bike. This was a 180 degree experience from the other rental company jn DC. The owner was friendly, attentive, enthusiastic and really made us feel welcome. He knows his bikes gave us a quick run down that made us feel comfortable. The bikes are impeccabley maintained and he's thought of everything including helmets, storage pouch, bike lock, flat tire kit etc. He was even extremely well versed on the route to Mt. Vernon. Every pointer he gave us was spot on. We made it to Mt. Vernon and enjoyed food, history, and culture. The way back was fun since the bike did all the work, electric is the way to go for tandem bike long hauls. I plan on coming back to buy some accessories for my own fat tire e-bikes. This was a memorable experience that was easy and affordable.

Yep, tire flat. So I jump online to figure out what time this bike shop opens, 11AM. I call in case they do a seasonal shutdown and they confirm they are open for business. We are promptly served, about 5 folks working upfront. We are in/out within 30 minutes with a new tire tube installed plus some advice on future service I will need after I request an inspection for other defects. So I suspect I'll take my bike back at the end of this riding season or early Spring 2025. Their inventory is awesome. There was a customized none-motorized bike upfront waiting for pickup that cost $8K. Mine blowing! They have lots of e-bike too. They have lots of bikes, period. They have a small 2 seat waiting area with coffee service. I bought my bike from them, many moons ago and she's still in pretty good shape(except from being dirty I was told with a smile). The recommended future service stuff is low cost routine maintenance type stuff IMO.
