For that job they were quick, came in one day, did the measurements, returned the next day to install and it came out beautiful. This time, November 2024, I had a renovation to an apartment I acquired that I intended to sell. I tried to be a big girl and be my own GC and reach out to the contractors that were used before. I had called VC Flooring, talked to Betty and we continued our further discussions via text. Everything went flawlessly as the first time, he came to measure, returned another day and did the install... or so I thought.... Fast forward to the apartment being done and all I needed was the appliances installed. The delivery guys from Home Depot come with my appliances. They go to put the refrigerator in and it doesn't fit. I'm not there for the install, my elderly mother is. They tell my mom that the counter is too big and needs to be cut down! She passes on the info, I end up forwarding the texts, pictures and messages to Betty. Betty informs me that she will have the installer come back out to cut the counter. The installer returns to cut the counter down but by doing so would require smaller cabinets. So technically, everything was correct on their end, it was the refrigerator was too big! William and the team at Ming Yang (MY) Construction are phenomenal!…read more Kitchen remodel, 5 Stars. They helped us step out of the 70s and into something so much more modern. From the first site visit to the final walkthrough, everything was seamless. William managed this project very well and guided us through this process with ease. At any point if we had questions he was quick to respond. The showroom they have is great and the experience of setting your preferences on design and materials is quite enjoyable. The only hiccup we encountered is that the supplier of the original tile that had been selected did not come in the size we needed and so it wouldn't have meshed well with the current tile in the living room. William helped us find a suitable alternative and we were able to pivot and are very pleased with the outcome. There were a couple of adjustments during the project but again related to the tile, we changed the direction of the placement which allows for us to replace the remaining tile in the house in the future if we decided to do so. William and team thinking ahead with our needs in mind really provided a sense of care. To top it all off, we wanted this build done ASAP and the team was able to complete the remodel in 8 days compared to their estimate of 10 - 14. I contacted a few companies and received various quotes, some of which required me to travel to various showrooms to select materials which as a first time home renovator, seemed overwhelming. However, when I was contacted by William, he informed me he had previously done renovations in my building and was very familiar with how the management office worked, water shut off, elevator reservations, etc. MY Construction's showroom had all materials/samples in one place where I could put everything together and get a visual idea; he also had tons of photos of examples on his phone to show me. Can't say enough amazing things about William and his crew, not only did he keep me updated daily, but he also handled so many of the nuance tasks on his own, making sure I wasn't distracted at work or taking on any unnecessary stress during the project. (He even dealt with a cranky tenant who had been accidentally double booked by management for the elevator as well as installing all of the new appliances!) After we went to some other places, we heard good things about Kahala Floors. We called and made an appointment to come down. This place is located on S. King Street and there is free parking in their private parking lot that they share with a couple of other businesses. As we entered and started walking up tue stairs, we noticed a very nice reception area where we were greeted by Shirley and another worker. Shirley started the process of if we knew what we were looking for, what kind of area we wanted to cover, etc. We told her we were looking for LVP. She took us through her showroom which looks like they have over a couple hundred different varieties of flooring and types of flooring from real hardwood, manufactured hardwood, all the way to LVP. She showed ius ones that they had in stock to ones we have to order. Shirley has been in the industry for around 18 years and her experience sure showed when we had questions to stairs and different transitions. Her recommendations made sense and she had different levels of solutions to doing certain things. Needed to carpet one room and thought I'd give Wayne's Carpet a try after seeing so many great…read morereviews. Worked in the showroom with Michele. She knows a lot about the business and steered me in the right direction, making me feel confident abt my purchase. The price was right and the install was set up within a week! The installers came and did a great job and everything looked perfect. One small thing I want to point out is that the carpet scraped one side of the wall when they were cutting or laying it down, and didn't mention a word about it to me. I had to get the paint out and paint the wall about 1' by 5'. I didn't like that they couldn't fess up to that. I'm sure it must happen a lot of times. I'd go back again when my next room is ready for new flooring!
