We chose a lightly speckled gray for our cabinet resurfacing, which we think was a choice they would normally not have recommended... but their collective voice simply supported the changes we wanted to have made and they followed through. We love it! (We have a fairly large kitchen, and must add that we had a bigger picture in mind of what we wanted it to look like by putting in backsplashes by ourselves that pulled in the colors of our granite counters and floors with the new cabinets after the job was completed to give the kitchen an artistic touch.) So happy we called Essential Cabinets instead of doing a complete remodel. Ringo and Diane were a delight to work with. We started with just wanting a stainless sink. However after attending the BIA Homeshow and speaking with several companies, we decided that Essential Cabinet Refacing was the company we wanted to renovate our kitchen. We saw a one-piece sink which required no caulking with the new countertops we selected so we chose that over a stainless sink. Diane also helped us choose refacing with a Laminate Biltmore Cherry which would save us some money because they would use our existing cabinets but change out the doors and drawers. Ringo Pauly spent many hours explaining the process and also how to care for our new kitchen. We are very happy with the job Brett and Joe did and had the sense that they personally cared for the work they performed. Essential Cabinet refaced my kitchen door cabinets and replaced them with real wood with trims and brown finish to match my furniture. It looked nice, and I paid at least $18K (including tax). After paying in full and in the evening, I noticed a section of the counter was left in white, the previous color. I called Ringo, he said that they do not cover toe kicks with veneers for a reason. If you look at the picture in this review, it did not look right because the white color of that section of the counter stood out from the rest of the brown looking counter. Ringo said he will come by, and he did and took a measurement of that section. I again kept following-up thereafter to ask when they will come by to fix it. I called Ringo, Diane, then Ringo, Diane again, etc., etc. via phone calls and texts. He said one day (a Monday), then another day. I finally received an actual schedule, on a Wednesday before the Christmas weekend, but the worker who supposed to fix the counter apparently called out. I knew it was going to take a while again with back/forth especially around the holiday season, and I already paid. I realized some companies do not really want to return to re-do a job after the customer already paid in full because it would take money/time/manpower and is a loss from that company. I went ahead and painted the area myself, and it looks better now. Long story short, do not pay in full until you check and see if everything you wanted on the job has been fulfilled to your satisfaction. I learned my lesson. As a customer, please ensure that the person who is working on your cabinets cleans up the area, in my case my kitchen floor and counter. The staff swept the floor, but I still had to sweep and wipe the counters after the job each day. Really, not a biggie. However, when the job was done, wood shavings were left under the fridge. The fridge had to be moved to place veneers on the cabinets above the refrigerator and was placed back without cleaning the floor where the wood shavings dropped. There were also glue drops on the floors. I am still finding some glue on parts of the kitchen wall. Thanks to Ringo for giving me a good solvent to clean up any glue residues. I have had the pleasure of using Essential Cabinets twice. Once was 5 years ago for a complete cabinet reface. The second was just completed and much more complex. It involved a complete cabinet redo, new countertops, and a rip down and rebuild of the cavities for the refrigerator, wall oven and microwave. Though Essential themselves does not directly do the countertops, they acted as the general contractor and brought in the sub. And if that wasn't enough of a potential problem, throw in new floors in the same area (kitchen) as well as the need for an electrician and plumber. Ringo's attitude, as well as his whole team, was always the same......"don't worry, we'll get it done and can work around your other contractors". All work was done on time with no hidden fees. As anyone who has had their kitchen renovated can tell you, it is not an easy task. There are so many things to consider and important decisions to make. After careful consideration and many meetings, we went with Ringo Pauly from Essential Cabinets Refacing to undertake the task of renovating our kitchen because we felt confident that he would be able to renovate our kitchen with the custom cabinets we wanted, the countertop we desired and all within our budget. And I'm glad we did! Prior to our renovation, we met with Ringo several times at his business and at our home. Ringo showed us the type of wood used in the cabinets and explained how the lamination of the high gloss cabinets would be done in his shop. We selected everything from the handles on the cabinet doors to the quartz stone design. Ringo even had us meet him at the countertop factory one afternoon to see my stone selection in the large slab pieces so I could make sure that I was happy with my final selection. These guys gave me exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price!!! I had 2 other quotes which were 2x more than what I was quoted by Essential Cabinets. I had a tight 2 week time frame to replace my kitchen cabinet doors in my apartment to get it rental ready before I left Oahu, and they worked around my schedule and even on the weekend (which they normally don't do install on weekends) to get it installed. While the actual refacing work was done well, the color looks a lot darker than the sample they let me look at. I wasn't able to keep the sample and so have no way to prove this. In addition Essential Cabinet wanted 50%up front, even though they didn't even start any work until almost two months later. They then insisted on payment of all of the remainder as soon as the refacing was done and bothered my husband at his office to get payment instead of allowing us to mail it in, even though they had not installed the cabinet and drawer pulls. They were very resistant to any holdback saying they needed to make payroll. They finally agreed to a minimal holdback. We've contacted them and now we cannot get them to come out to install the pulls. Every excuse. In the book to not do what should have been done a month ago. One month later the laminate started to bubble. It too over a month to get essential to come back to fix it. We would call them and they would say they would come out and never show up. We had to call and email weekly and finally practically yell I. The phone before they agreed to come out. They also blamed the bubbling on the existing cabinetry. Ridiculous attitude. If I could give these people zero stars I would. read more

Just wanted to provide an update to my review below. After leaving many messages I was finally able to get a hold of the office manager, and scheduled a time for them to come out to look at the work that was coming undone, as well as the unfinished portions of the job, as well as the spice rack that was put together incorrectly. We scheduled an appointment, my husband and I both took off work early, and they were a no show, no call, no nothing. After that, we tried to contact them again, which took 3 full weeks to get them on the phone, scheduled another appointment, and once again, they did not call and did not show up. So we have now come to the conclusion that they have no desire to honor their work, or even have the courtesy to call us back. You would think that after spending greater than $10,000, you would at least have a completed kitchen. I do not promote talking bad about businesses, but DO NOT give this company your money.... at least if you want your kitchen to look good. It is an absolute shame that I cannot even get a return phone call after my check was cashed. It is amazing how people can be so nice and accommodating until they get your money and then you mean nothing to them. They refaced my kitchen cabinets and I thought they looked fine. They looked fine, but I found what you see is not necessarily what you get. I found most the hinges had only one screw holding to the cabinet, drawers lose and the refacing was coming off. I went to their office explained what was happening and was told they were very busy, but they would be out next month. Next month came and went, so I called and left two messages for Ringo (owner), over a period of several months with no response. read more
