    Chuck Ward's Old Fashioned
    Tom H.

Way more than a hotel bar! The food and drinks here are fantastic. Lead bartender, Chuck Ward, has mastered the craft of the Old Fashioned. Easily one of the best I've had. Meanwhile Sous Chef Zack has brought in his own family sausage recipe that elevates an already hearty breakfast menu. There's plenty of space for events or just relaxing with friends. High quality establishment here, there just happens to be a hotel (a very modern, comfortable hotel with incredible staff) attached.

Spicy Chicken Wings, Shrimp Cocktail, and Charcuterie Board

We came here for drinks and appetizers before going out to dinner. The restaurant was very pretty, clean and had a lot of natural lighting! I loved the art, hanging lights, bold patterns, bright colors and exposed brick. You can tell they focused on attention to detail when decorating the space. It was very warm and inviting which makes you feel right at home. They also have a fun set of wings you can take a photo in front of that is located by the elevators. We ordered the Shrimp Cocktail, Spicy Chicken Wings, and Charcuterie Board (I don't believe this item is available on the menu anymore). All three starters came out quickly and tasted good. Service after receiving our food was a bit slow. We had to wave down our waiter 3 times to ask for more drinks, request the extra cheese we had ordered for the charcuterie board, and then again for the bill. Overall though we had a good experience and liked the atmosphere.

My friend coordinate my birthday surprise here with my hubs. I have to say they nailed it. The decor to the food and drinks. I ordered the short braised beef and it was delicious. Tender. Fall off the bone kinda meat. The Moscow mule here is my all times favorite thus far! Must try place even if ya just stopping in for drinks! Definitely a place to accommodate big parties!

I had the pleasure of getting invited by a friend to the grand opening party of Vaux, the gorgeous restaurant-bar in Canopy by Hilton Hotel. We got to take in the lovely space, opting to sit outside, while being handed complimentary glasses of bubbles. We also had a choice of 4 wines (Sharecropper pinot noir, Montinore pinot noir, Stoller chardonnay & William Marie syrah rose) and 4 beers (Ordinance bloops, Migration patio pale, Buoy Pilz, Breakside wanderlust or Rev nat's sour cherry), if we felt like walking to the bar. Their signature drinks were the Meadowlark (gin), El chupacabra (tequila), Bull on the run (bourbon) and Lemonade stand (vodka). For nibbles, we were served Chèvre (goat cheese) on baguette toast, roasted corn, as well as an array of meats, cheeses and veggies from the contiually refreshed massive charcuterie board. For dessert, there were trays of fresh baked cookies as well as smores marshmellow treat bars. The decor had a hint of bird theme, like the massive south wall covered in a Vaux Bird mural (popular since Vaux (swift) birds are famous for roosting in NW Portland's Chapman school chimney every September). There were 2 private rooms encased in glass. The first had guests plugged in and using the wifi. I am going to guess it was their business center. The other is where we could get a tasting of Freeland spirits gin and bourbons. I'm going to assume that is a room you can reserve for intimate dinners or special occasions. I plan to be following up on whether they have a happy hour, because the ambiance will get me back, one way or the other.

We just got a drink here. It was super super quiet. I liked that it was clean and they had pillows for the seating in back. I didn't even know it was actually the hotels bar. I love the bubbly rose cocktail mix drink. So delicious. This is not the solve for a trendy or fun bar atmosphere though.

    Cinnamon buns and watermelon tequila

Came here for brunch and sat outside (cutest seating - they also have indoor) Terrific cocktail menu for brunch - had a watermelon tequila drink that was to die for and the best cinnamon rolls (as big as your head) and SHAKSHUKA. Had been here for cocktails and apps pre-covid but they are doing just fine post Covid as well, highly recommended.

Total surprise! New restaurant recently opened in the Canopy Hilton in the Pearl District. Needed a place for a quick dinner on Valentine's Day before the theatre and decided to try this out due to convenience. Great industrial decor and we were seated at the family table which was a big slab of marble with 10 leather back high chairs and it worked great. My daughter didn't love her salmon, great crust but a bit over cooked. My pumpkin gnocchi was delicious and everyone loved it. Nice sweet and savory dish. My husband's Caesar was phenomenal, but his beef chili was the fave of all of us. They have a late happy hour with a different menu and so keep that in mind. Interested to see drink prices because most wine by the glass did start at $14 and went up.

    Awful broccolini
    Hannah K.

Oh no. So, so bad. Would not recommend at all. We only ordered a side of the roasted broccolini and an order of the carbonara. The broccolini was ice cold. My guess is it was leftover from the day before, taken out of the refrigerator and given to us. The carbonara was not like any carbonara we have had before. No flavor, thick noodles, mushy pork. These two simple dishes that were pretty terrible would make me wary of anything else served here.

    Lemonade Stand and Old Fashioned

Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. The restaurant wasn't open on Monday but we had drinks at Vaud the next night. My friend and I had The Lemonade Stand and our other friend had the Old Fashioned. The drinks were strong and delicious. I even asked the restaurant for the recipe after the fact and they provided and I can't wait to make at home.

Stayed at the hotel and decided to have breakfast this morning. Everything was delicious and fresh! Chic and funky ambiance. We had avocado toast, a freshly made apple turnover and muffin, overnight oats, a kids plate and a delicious latte. The sausage in my scramble was homemade and very good. I thought everything we had was far above average quality and flavor and I look forward to having breakfast here again tomorrow.

Entering the shop, you will be greeted by loud music. Be ready for that. You will have the option to dine outside, if the weather provides it and the seats are empty. The hosts are wonderful and very accepting with a positive attitude. Smiles and all. I ordered the Jim because it was the only sandwich I could eat. The majority of the sandwiches contain meat, so I would not recommend this for vegans or pescatarians. Jim was delicious and I consumed both halves of Jim flawlessly. Either hunger overruled me, or the sandwich was that satisfying. I do recommend the shop, but with limited options for non-meat eaters, I truthfully would rate Lottie and Zulas, 4.5. The food is 4 stars, the service 3 starts, but the real bummer was all the plastic. Plastic container, plastic cups and we were eating in. They asked if it was to go and we said no, but everything came in plastic anyway. The ambiance is quintessential Portland, right up until they bring all your food in plastic with plastic silverware to boot.

Let me start by saying I didn't take pictures. For anyone who reads my reviews, that's a big part…read moreof them: ALL THE PICTURES. Presentation, portions, half eaten, etc... but I didn't. Because the food was so damn good. Look - I'm going to start off by saying I grew up practically on The Hill. Out here, you'll have to Google it (make sure to add 'RI' to the search or you'll get some political BS), but back east, "alls you's have ta say" was those two words and anyone would know you knew your Italian, food and otherwise. There isn't anything on this coast that vaguely compares to The Hill's food, but walking into and biting out of Geraldi's was having a little piece of home. There's this little shop in the old town where the owner knew your voice when you called to order... you'd walk in, and you heard "hey cousin!" whether you were or not, and that's the vibe you get from Geraldi's. The food is much the same - you get something that looks like Nonna was at the range all day with her sauce (it's not gravy - no meat) and you came home looking like you haven't eaten in weeks: "I'm gonna fatten you up before you leave" and you walked out the door with a sub (sandwich, that is - not a submarine) that weighed the same as a newborn. We got three of those babies: a Chicago Beef (seal of approval from the orderer - only 'complaint' was that they had to eat it all in one day because the bread was quote too soggy to make it to lunch the next day - travesty), an Italian sausage (just as delicious when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and a Chicken Parmeroni (I thought somehow even better when 1/2 was reheated the next day) and I could have absolutely gone back the next day if it weren't for A. the leftovers 2/3 of us had and B. the meal planning we'd done for the week. I also grabbed a side of giardiniera because I will get it anytime I see it available and I inhaled it - I need to know if I can by it by the vat instead of the side cups because it too was similar to what I can find at home (about practically nowhere out here) and amazing!! I'm still upset I didn't take pictures though!

Between the genuinely friendly hospitality and the flavor combinations, this spot hits it out of the park and is a must for sandwich lovers. Griddled Mortadella (5/5): An incredibly delicious sandwich that perfectly balances rich, salty, and savory flavors. It comes loaded with a generous portion of grilled mortadella and melted provolone cheese, perfectly moistened with a tangy mustard aioli. The fresh lettuce and bell peppers added a satisfying crunch to every bite. Chefwich - K-Town Steak Sandwich (5/5): A limited-time creation packed into a banh mi roll. It had a generous portion of perfectly tender and sweet bulgogi steak that pairs with their melted jack cheese. The gochujang mayo sauce had a subtle and sweet heat, while the fresh kimchi added crunch and slight acidity to balance the rich meat. Elote Tater Tots (5/5): Definitely a creative side dish. The tots were perfectly fried and topped elote style with cotija cheese, pairing well with the smoky chipotle mayo on the side. Logistics Tip: Street parking is surprisingly easy to find in the surrounding area, even on a busy weekend evening. The restaurant has a spacious layout with plenty of seating options both inside and outside. If you're a first-timer, don't hesitate to ask the staff for suggestions, as they're exceptionally warm, welcoming, and passionate about the menu.
