There is no nice way of saying that this may be the worst restaurant experience in Toronto I have had. The food was just ok, too sweet to be true Italian cooking, but it was the service that was a total disaster. We waited 1 hour for our appetizers, and another 40 minutes for our main course to discover that one of the main courses delivered was incorrect. Upon arguing with the waiter my friend was told the correct dish he ordered can be prepared in 3 minutes (that's after waiting 40 for the wrong one), so he agreed to have it replaced. The waiter then left the incorrect dish with my main course to cool on the next table, forgetting about me completely. I had to get up and go to get my dish, and the waiter was oblivious to that fact until I mentioned it to him. I will definitely NOT be back here. For this price range there are many much better choices for Italian food even in that area of Toronto

My photo doesn't do this dish justice. If you like seafood their lobster pasta won't disappoint!

This has to be my favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto! Every meal we tried is better than the next & bursting with flavour, that you want to savour every bite! We took the entire family for an early valentines dinner & shared a few appetizers - meatballs, artichokes, and mushrooms, and for the main courses we had the Veal Lasagna, Pasta with Lobster and Pasta Carbonara. The desserts & Expresso Martini were great too! The home made apple strudel is a real treat. The service & atmosphere is excellent. It's perfect for a date night, special occasion or to bring your entire family! If you're a tourist visiting Toronto, and a food lover, it's located in Yorkville and a must to add to your list of places to eat!

I have high expectations for restaurants in Yorkville as it's one of the most high end areas in Toronto. Unfortunately Vaticano was pretty disappointing. As a starter the bread came in as complimentary, however the bread was awful! It was hard, not tasty, and the butter was hard as well. We then had their pizza. We made our own pizza with, instead with pollo we made it with veal. The pizza was probably the best part of the meal.. A solid 3.5/5. I then had the spaghetti bologonese. It was good but nothing special. It tasted like a pasta I would have at any other restaraunt, not a high end Italian restaraunt. I then finished my meal with a chocolate cake. It was super chocolaty, which I love. I just wish it had better texture, taste was good, but it felt a bit cheap to me... Kind of like it was a premade food. The service was horrendous, I had to ask my water to be filled constantly. We had to call our server each time we wanted to order something. Usually at fine dining experiences, the service is much much better. The server was nice, but he just was never there. Overall I wouldn't recommend this place. It was the same quality as scaddbush but more pricey. I'd save money and go to scaddbush instead

Mussels in fresh tomato sauce - only thing I really enjoyed.

I wish someone would have warned us that there was construction going on basically inside the restaurant (that's how loud it was) because it would have saved us the $80 for a crappy lunch altogether. Not to mention, the hostess chose to seat us right behind a party of 15 in an almost otherwise empty restaurant so between this and the construction, we had to ask to move. We went for the winterlicious menu which sounded good and affordable (app, entree and dessert for $28 each). The portions were just about the only thing good about it though as the food was off tasting and bland. The service was hesitant (our waiter seemed scared to talk to us) and slow but at least he was friendly... I couldn't even understand one of the waiters because his accent was so strong so I had to just nod and smile a few times. I will say that the tomato sauce was fresh and delicious though... it made me want to eat all of the free bread. The regular menu seems rather expensive so I likely wouldn't take my chances and eat here again... nonna probably wouldn't approve anyway.

Great authentic Italian restaurant. Would definitely come back, the pasta was amazing and mostly homemade. The restaurant was atmospheric and service was very attentive and friendly.

Great for lunches, especially during patio season when the third floor roof is open. At night, it's moody and dark, lit by candles on the table and the tvs at every corner with sports playing or generic videos. Dishes that I always get are the creole blackened chicken, avocado kale salad and truffle fries. The sunset soda is also a great, cheap and low calorie drink. Honorable food mentions are their featured (at the time) crab dip and the salmon aburi sushi.

It was a Sunday night , the day after Valentine's Day and it was packed. Good thing we had reservations. Despite how busy it was we were seated right away and our server Sarah was an absolute gem. Our drinks came out quickly and well made. They have a great wine list and we took advantage of it. So, ambience - check. Service - check. But it was the food that blew us away I started with the Wagyu carpaccio that emma's to die for. Just perfect with the crostinis. The my wife had the avocado bowl with salmon and I had the mushroom striploin. Both meals just freaking delicious- these folks have it down to a science and the food was off the charts. Some people may disagree because it's a chain restaurant but when they hit on all cylinders, which they have every time we've been there, it's awesome. Cactus Club - highly highly recommended. Ask for Sarah - she is amazing.

From the vibes to the food, everything was top notch. Tyler took care of our group and made sure that we got an experience rather than just a meal. Upon being seated we got napkins to match our outfits so the white lint didn't get on our black pants , an incredible guava passion fruit cocktail to try and a meat presentation to make sure we all order like pros from here on out. The food was incredible- one our tastebuds won't forget! Our group of 5 started with fresh sushi and sashimi, table side Caesar salad and the softest brioche served with sun-dried tomato butter that was perfect in every way. Main course: Australian wagyu ribeye that we didn't even have to chew plus a strip loin and beef Wellington (which was maybe the only thing I don't need to order again, but still delicious). All the sides were amazing and finally sticky toffee pudding and butter cake to put us in a complete food coma. Wouldn't change a thing about this meal. We cannot thank you enough Tyler (and Toronto!!)!

We walked up to an unassuming entrance that is part of the experience, and once inside, the atmosphere shifts completely. The space is intimate and cozy with dim lighting, comfortable seating, and a relaxed speakeasy vibe that makes it easy to settle in for a couple of drinks. The transition from the street to the interior feels deliberate, and the low-key energy of the room encourages lingering. The cocktail menu leans heavily into Asian-inspired flavors, and that is what makes it stand out. Every drink feels thoughtfully developed rather than relying on presentation alone. We tried the Cloudy Oolong, which was especially memorable with its rich tea flavor and creamy cheese foam that added a savory depth to the cocktail. The Strawberry Tetsu offered a dessert-like profile without becoming overly sweet, balancing fruit and tea notes in a way that felt refined and well composed. Each cocktail arrived beautifully presented and balanced, making it easy to appreciate the amount of care that goes into every glass. The menu is creative without being gimmicky, and the flavors are well integrated, with each drink offering something distinct. The staff were welcoming and happy to explain the menu or offer recommendations if you are unsure what to order. They guided us through the flavor profiles and offered thoughtful suggestions based on our preferences. Service felt attentive without being overbearing, and the overall pace made it a great place to relax rather than rush through a drink. The team checked in at the right moments and kept the experience feeling personal and unhurried. If you are looking for a cocktail bar that offers something different from the usual classics, After Seven delivers a memorable experience. Between the hidden entrance, intimate setting, and creative drinks, it is the kind of place that is easy to recommend whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for one of Toronto's more unique bars. The balance of atmosphere, craftsmanship, and service makes it a standout in the city's cocktail scene.

The room is small, intentional, and lovely: intimate seating, a sculptural emerald bar, and an atmosphere drawn from the Japanese cocktail tradition. The aesthetic is precise without being cold, and the candle-warm lighting encourages exactly the kind of unhurried conversation that a well-made cocktail deserves. But the bartenders are the true heart of the place. On the evening of my visit, the two behind the bar moved with a remarkable synchrony -- finishing each other's thoughts, trading warmth and wit in equal measure, drawing guests effortlessly into the orbit of their easy rapport. It is the kind of hospitality that cannot be trained into existence; it is either present or it isn't, and here it is very much present. The cocktail menu is East Asian in its inspiration and genuinely inventive in its execution.

On a Valentine's Day brunch visit, the atmosphere alone was enough to justify the reservation. The kitchen demonstrates genuine competence: dishes arrive with care, the pacing is unhurried, and the mise en scène -- from tableside presentation to that now-famous thirteen-layer chocolate cake -- reveals an establishment that understands the theatre of fine dining. That towering slice of chocolate cake, in particular, is a masterstroke of marketing and pastry craft in equal measure; it draws the eye, earns its reputation, and very nearly steals the show. Where LOUIX LOUIS gives one pause is in the cuisine's ability to fully match its surroundings. The cooking is accomplished and reliably pleasant, yet seldom rises to the level of genuine distinction one might hope for at this price point. Dishes satisfy without surprising; technique is evident but inspiration, at moments, feels held in reserve. For the corporate traveller or the visitor seeking a polished, geographically convenient showcase of the city's skyline, this represents an entirely sound choice. For those seeking an experience whose flavours linger as long as the view, the kitchen has room yet to grow into its magnificent stage. Service is attentive and well-intentioned, though it can occasionally want for the depth of knowledge that elevates a good meal into a memorable one. LOUIX LOUIS is, in sum, a very good restaurant striving -- not quite yet arriving -- at greatness. The bones are exceptional; one hopes the culinary vision will, in time, catch up with them.
