The food we ordered was so good. The chicken Alfredo was delicious and my husband loved his pizza. Service was somewhat slow but I think that had a lot to do with a large party that came. This place is right across Lake Ontario, offering a beautiful view of the Harbourfront if you're sitting on the patio. It was a lovely night with perfect weather for a patio dinner, so we naturally chose to sit outside. We ordered the chicken Alfredo pasta, which was basically spaghetti in Alfredo sauce with mushrooms and chicken, very simple but quite good. The lobster ravioli was also done really well. And finally, although I'm not usually a fan of pesto, the linguine de gambero was delicious. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, flavourful, and just the right size. I thought they paired beautifully with the pesto cream sauce. The only reason for not giving them 5 stars is because the crispy calamari was slightly undercooked IMO. It also had very little seasoning. I would try to avoid that. Pretty good pizza. I split a Godfather pizza with my buddy and the toppings kind of slid off of the pizza, but when you actually put it back on and take a bite, it's pretty tasty. Even better when you add some of the fresh Parmesan and the hot chili oil they have on the table. My buddies got some pasta dishes and they all said it was pretty good. One of the most wonderful dining experiences I've ever had. Customer service was top notch. We are on a family vacation, first time here in Toronto. There's 16 of us who walked in with no prior reservations and we were treated so well , from the friendly greeting at the host table to the prompt preparation of our "VIP section" outdoors with an unbeatable view. First let me spend some time sharing appreciation for our waitress, Tammy. She single-handedly, perfectly took our orders accurately. She was so efficient and had a vibrant personality. Without being prompted she offered to snap our family photo and was so courteous when dealing with our beck and call. I am just so impressed by her demeanor , she's a superstar in customer service! She's a gem and since the pandemic she's become quite the unicorn as I haven't experienced such an accommodating and friendly waitress as her in a long time! Our food was spectacular. A bit pricey for an 8 inch pizza but you really can't beat the atmosphere, the view, the service and the 5 star experience we had. We were given gelato at the end. Freaking delicious! So this was an interesting evening. Sat on the patio, covered from the rain by a tarp. (There's no AC inside...say what now?!) We all had amazing pizzas. The chicken pesto pizza was perfect. My biggest complaint is the price. Way overpriced pizza and pasta. I guess it's because of the lake view? So the rain had stopped and everything pretty much dried up. We finished eating and were enjoying our drinks when our waitress decided to roll up the water filled tarp. I got soaked. Like a huge dripping mess. Mackenzie is the worst server. Seated at 1:32. Ordered 2 drinks and one pizza at 1:37 from Mackenzie. She brings our drinks at 1:49 right after she noticed that I was looking around like, 'where's my drink? After we received our drinks 2 tables get seated in front of me with a different server. Their drinks come out pretty quickly. And then they ordered. Both tables food came out while I sat there, very hungry watching Mackenzie go from this table and that table chit chatting it up. "Oh, where's the cottage?" She asks one table. "Oh, I'm working a 13 hour shift" she says to another table. At 2:24, almost 40 mins after our drinks were dropped, I flagged down the other server and asked for the manager. I explain the situation and tell him that this Mackenzie has too many tables and is greedy. I noted 3 other servers who didn't have as many tables as her that were friendly and efficient to their tables. I ask the manager if the servers have sections. He didn't seem to know, so I'm taking that as a 'no'. Our pizza came out 3 mins after the manager left. So that means I got this pizza almost an hour after I'd ordered it. The two tables I mentioned had already finished eating! Who knows how much longer I would have had to wait if I didn't ask to speak to the manager. Mackenzie, don't be greedy, snatching up all the tables and then not servicing people properly. And don't complain about your double shift which I'm sure your greedy self signed up for. I am the easiest table - I sat down, ordered right away , didn't ask any questions, I also thanked her. No respect for me being easy. So, thanks for nothing, Mackenzie. Shame on you. Oliver, the senior manager came to the table and I told him what happened. Very nice man. I wanted to tip the other server because she worked so hard on her other tables and stopped by her tables to see how everything was going. I wish I got her instead. I had a $50 and asked if she should break it because I wanted to give her $20, but she said she was personally out of change. This is another F you to me. She could have gone to the bar, broke my $50 kept the $20 or shared it with the team. Wow. She shunned me for recognizing her hard work by not taking the tip. Bad karma. 3.5 stars I think I had low expectations because this area is so touristy and kind of a wasteland for restaurants (although getting better in recent years). So I was pleasantly surprised with dinner here before seeing a Harbourfront Centre show. They are located right by the lake, which is nice in the summer as they have a big patio (dog-friendly! With a dog menu!). In the winter it isn't such a big draw. The server asked if we wanted a "window seat" and we had to not laugh because it's November and it's pitch black outside, you can't even see the lake if you sit by the window lol... My group shared the fried calamari and friend gnocco (like little dough fritters) which were both light, crisp and not overly greasy. I had the bucatini tartufo which had nice thick noodles and a creamy pesto sauce. The dish is super comforting and hearty - perfect for a cold day and if you are hungry! Drinks and service were good. It was a weeknight, so not too busy. Our server graciously took some group photos from us and actually tried to capture our good angles :P I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but given the restaurant options in this area are kind of limited, I would certainly come back if I was looking for somewhere to go when seeing shows, attending festivals or seeing art exhibits at the Harbourfront Centre as they put on amazing cultural offerings year round. read more

Could just be my personal preference. 2) Margherita Pizza - $21 - Fior di latte & fresh torn basil. My friends mentioned it was okay but portion could have been bigger for the price. 3) Tiramisu - $12 - ladyfingers, sabayon, mascarpone, coca, espresso. Our server recommended but I didn't really like it unfortunately. Split with friends but we didn't finish it. I think generally their desserts could be better improved. We came here as a farewell lunch to my dad on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We were excited to be seated on their patio. Once we were seated, the waitress came 20 minutes later to take our order. And then another 15-20 min to get our food which got cold pretty cold. The pizza luckily was slightly warm and it tasted really good. The pasta got cold and it lacked seasoning. My husband had to go to the waitress three times asking for salt and finally she brought over salt. We told her that pasta was brought cold and she knew we were dining family style but still didn't get a serving spoon. We asked for the manager and she brought him out promptly. We told him that service was really bad, being short staffed on a gorgeous weekend in summer doesn't make any business sense we let him know. The three stars are for the fact that we took care of the bill, we didn't expect that. I thought he will remove the cold pasta in the final bill. After reading the reviews on this place I was a bit skeptical of bringing my friends here, but honestly very few reviews insult their food, its mostly the service. When our group arrived, from start to finish the service was exceptional! We originally had a table outside, but then a swarm of fruit flies made the experience hellish, and the staff were more than willing to switch tables for us. We didn't want to be "that" table, but once again, our first indoor table was inadequate (no fault on their part, but the customers near us were being very loud/obnoxious and we wanted a calm dining experience) so we requested to switch tables and again they accommodated. This restauraunt can be accessed directly from the harbourfront, from the outside near the lake, and as well as inside the harbourfront plaza. Our final seats were near the harbourfront plaza area which was a great treat since we found out they had a gelato station! The Italian Food options here were exceptional. Our group had tried the pizza, a few different pasta, charcuterie board and another pizza and everything was fantastic, well seasoned and spicy (the right amount). Their cocktails were fresh with a decent amount of alcohol and for dessert, although the gelato was tasty, the tiramisu was the star of the show. The place is quite large and can accommodate large groups, and if you happen to sit by the waterfront, the views are great, especially at night. read more

I have NEVER not tipped at a restaurant before, even if the food/service/quality was mid. Pie Bar truly was and is the absolute worst. I wouldn't spend a single dime, quarter or dollar at this place. I'll include a timeline to be C L E A R Saturday, February 3rd - winterlicious menu 6pm - I was awkwardly seated by the bartender/ waiter (we'll call him Joe). Brought glasses and a water jug. Offered to order drinks while I waited for 2 more guests to come, I declined. 620pm - guest 1 arrived, we looked over menu. Asked for a refill on water and that our friend would be running late due to work. Never got that refill on water. 645pm - waitress (we'll call her Jess) came to us and asked us if we could order for ourselves and our last guest since they have a private event at 8pm. We apologize for the delay and said we would quickly ask our friend so we can order for her. Asked for a refill on water. Still never got it refilled 650pm - we flagged her down immediately so we can order and not be an inconvenience. Took our order, wasn't very nice, quite passive. Asked for a refill on water, still no refill. 705pm - friend arrives, we asked Joe for a refill when he passed by after dropping plates off at the table next to us. Still no refill 710-715PM - apps arrived. No flavour. Tasted exactly how it looked, bland and beige. Extremely disappointed that we didn't finish it. Also the table next to us ended up leaving after their apps - should've been a clear sign that we should've left too 715-730 - no one cleared our plates, didn't checked in on us or asked how the food tasted. Probably since they know the answer is trash. Finally at 730 a tall waitress comes to tell us that one of the pasta we ordered was sold out and offered one from their regular menu. She recommended one that had a "spicy kick" and was supposed to have that long wavy pasta type. Spoiler alert, it did not. 750pm - finally got our mains and was immediately disappointed. The "lamb pizza" didn't have ANY lamb in it and was cold. The "spicy pasta" had absolutely no flavour, tasted like boiled pasta. if anything the "spice" took away what little flavour it had. The risotto was probably the only dish that came hot and was at least 80% finished, we were basically done with the food by 8PM. We also AGAIN asked for water refill, still no refill. At this point my friend just started drinking water from her own water bottle. 805 - the private party came in, we're waiting to find any service to call the bill and just take our desserts to go. No one in sight. 810 - "jess" comes up and basically asks us if we want our dessert to go and we requested the bill AND WATER. She comes back with water (finally) and a box with cheese cake and a box of tiramisu, she then proceeds to say the pana cotta is out and suggests to pick the other dessert option. We picked another tiramisu. She comes back and hands us the most disappointing, sad, bottom scoop of tiramisu we've ever seen. We asked "is there another takeout of tiramisu because this does not look great". She just says "no that's the last of it", well it clearly looked like it. She didn't even give us any take out utensils. We left and wasn't even greeted out the restaurant. Side note: when we selected "no tip", the machine LITERALLY says "you selected no tip, are you sure about that?". Yes, I am 1000% sure not a single tip is deserved here tonight or any other night/day/whatever. I've truly never had such a shit experience at a restaurant before. This place really is the absolute worst place for anything and everything. The pizza chain down the street has better service, quality and taste. I'd tip there. What we ordered - Sauteed Calamari & White Bean Salad - prosciutto on Mellon slices - Lamb Bolognese Pizza - Seafood risotto - Butternut squash ravioli (got subbed for Casarecce de salsiccia) - Tiramisu - Cheesecake - Pana cotta (subbed for tiramisu) I hate this place, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. This restaurant's only good quality is the location and view, which honestly just step outside, it isn't worth sitting down and treated like shit for. I stumbled across Pie Bar. I wanted ice cream and decided to come here for a snack. It is an Italian restaurant but when I looked in, it wasn't very busy. I couldn't decide if I want to eat in but I was not very hungry. So instead I got ice cream. I got a scoop of tiramisu and a scoop of pistachio ice cream. The ice cream was ok. Nothing like Wow. The waitress was good at checking up on us and helping us move inside. I had: Rosso Sangria: Dragani montepulciano, Luxardo limoncello, simple syrup, oranges, lemons, fresh strawberries, soda water - One of the best drink I've had. I was really impressed. I got the pitcher and definitely enough for two people. 5/5 Lobster Ravioli: rosé sauce, shaved parmesan, fresh torn basil - It was a decent meal, but for the price it wasn't worth it. There was very little pasta, you could barely taste the lobster and it was pretty expensive. I was still hungry after I was done with this meal and that's saying something because I get full very easily. 3.5/5 Spaghetti Pomodoro: simple tomato sauce, shaved parmesan - I stole a bit of my friend's dish and it was amazing. Great portions and amazing pasta overall. It's such a classic but it's so delicious. Lovely little spot along the lake front and near the Museum of Contemporary Art. We sat outside and enjoyed the weather, a few beers, and some mozzarella sticks. I'm not a huge pizza person so we passed on that part of the menu. The mozzarella sticks were delicious. They were large with good breading and friend perfectly. My friends and my kid and I recently had a lovely lunch at this restaurant, located right on the waterfront overlooking all the sightseeing cruise ships and passers-by in this busy, trendy area, on a hot and sunny afternoon. The locale couldn't be any prettier, truly, and we snagged a great table outside on the patio, and under the shade-providing awning. We had a friendly server who was very attentive. (I should note that we dined here on a weekday at 1 pm-ish, and the restaurant and patio were surprisingly fairly empty. Not sure if it was some sort of ON holiday or part of a long holiday weekend or something). I should note that the "pie" in "Pie Bar" refers to pizza pies and not dessert pies. (This is probably obvious to you TO folks but it wasn't to me, initially). Our meals were all delicious. Our friends had two kinds of pizzas (I forget the varieties), and my kid and I split a kale and cauliflower salad which had pomegranate seeds (my kid's favorite) and almonds and a delicious dressing (and we added some grilled chicken to it, too). It really was good. It would have been ideal if they could have/would have split the salad onto two plates for us, but they said they couldn't, bringing us an extra plate to split it ourselves. (I'll never understand why some restaurants won't do this upon request. Thankfully, they are in the minority). My friends and I had some wonderful sangria - really terrific! I thought it was overpriced for $20 and was disappointed that it didn't have an accompaniment of bread for that price, and that I left the restaurant a little bit hungry. I'll list everything that was wrong with this establishment. First, the waitress seemed brainless, she didn't seem like she wanted to be there and had a lazy demeanour. She only had 2 tables to serv. We were wondering why our food took so long and when we told her, it magically all came out at once, cold. Then she came and asked how the food was, I told her it was reheated by the other waitress. And she said "oh sorry" like she didn't seem like she was really sorry. Worst part to finish off: she took forever to split the bill, had to ask her colleague and then billed us 18% service fee for 4 adults and 2 infants (I bet they treated the infants as adults), I would have argued this stupid policy and called the manager were I not in such rush. No wonder she looked like she didn't care. Overall, the food was not special at all, and I would not recommend. You'd get much better service and quality for the same price at a place like Terroni's. read more
