Cold Brew and Teddy Bear Treat

I think Variety is a solid coffee shop! The food is a bit pricey, but like I've said in so many reviews -- I just think prices in NYC are expensive in general. In any case, the baristas always are very warm and welcoming. I'm always greeted with a smile and my coffee is out in no time. And, the coffee is great! The shop itself is always pretty full but never packed. It's great for a hangout or a little coffee work sesh.

Solid 4 stars. As soon as I entered this location, it was cozy. Everyone doing their own thing, reading, working, talking. I love that, I quickly found a seat in the back & put my things down and proceeded to the front to order. I ordered a mocha latte, regular milk. To my surprise, the vanilla was an add on, found at the milk counter; close to the garbage and napkins. This was my first time in this cafe, so the lack of menu cafe flavors definitely was a curve ball for me. Nonetheless, mocha latte it was. I was also curious as to why there's no in house cups, for people who don't grab and go, that was another first for me. The actual mocha latte, had a cute heart inside and usually I hate mocha lattes but, I loved this. The taste was so rich, and you can one hundred percent, taste the quality of the espresso. It didn't taste like drip coffee, with steamed milk like a lot of places. The quality was definitely present. Overal verdict: if you need a place to get some work done, you like mocha lattes and you don't care much about the extra cups, you just like the grab and go cups definitely visit here. If you want more of a 1 on 1 experience, with the nice cups and dimmer setting don't come here.

Cortado

Believe it or not, I live very close to this cafe but never try their coffee. Every morning I walk my dog and pass this place. My dog sometime even interacts with some another customer dogs. My friend who live in LA and came to NYC for vacation, picked this cafe and we meet here. She has espresso and I try cortado: espresso mixed with a roughly equal amount of warm milk to reduce the acidity. We have five minutes to hang out then she has to go for her hair appointment. The cafe has seat inside and outside. It is a trendy place in my heihborhood.

The chalkboard outside Cho's Variety makes me smile pretty much every morning when I walk by on my way to work. The other day it said: "Graham : Bedford :: Stumptown : Folgers" Zinggggg. Ya'll Bedford cats are some Folgers drinkin mofos. This morning it was: "Coffee: You know you want it" Fuck yeah I wanted some coffee. Then I walked inside and got some. Shit, their advertising worked on me.. I'm such a fish. Edit: I guess this review isn't useful enough so I'll add that all regular coffees are french press, $2, and awesome (aka a "tromance") and I've always received great service from numerous cute baristas. There we go, usefulness.

Cuuuuute, friendly staff, good music. Outlets galore and I managed to 'borrow' to someone's wifi. A much needed addition to Graham. Yay!

Just found a power strip in the back! It's behind the white wooden bench.

There's the main seating area and then two offshoot lounges, which aren't quite as cozy but offer different levels of quiet and ambience. I love all the random décor, antique signs, old arcade games as tables, a million lamps. It's like what nook is going for but you can actually sit down on a comfy couch most of the time. The guy working the counter has a lot of energy and clearly loves being there. The PB banana smoothie was yummy, very thick so could use a spoon. Mushroom toast was a bit pricey but you did get a lot of food for your money, the focaccia was crunchier than expected but all around a nice cafe bite. I just appreciate how this is such a gathering spot where you can watch bk life play out while working, it had a different energy from a lot of places in the area.

You've really went downhill. Everything is dreadfully smaller for the same price. You used to have a giant fluffy egg square on your breakfast sandwich and now I've gotten one lumpy small egg drenched in so much overly spicy sauce - that used to be more soft and palatable, I can't even taste anything else, to compensate for the lack of sandwich for over $12. Insane. The fries were the highlight of my meal and that's really saying a lot. $6.50 for one of the smallest iced coffees I've ever received... I think you're staying open on highway robbery alone. Or that the gentrifiers just don't give a damn. Honestly, I could've gotten something better at the Bodega for less than $35 after the Uber fees. I feel bad leaving this honestly, but... how you go from such a wonderfully established place to some dreadful experience is just sad. Do better, become yourself again, because unfortunately I won't be ordering anymore.

Shucks I wanted to give this place five stars but it didn't start so well. The first barista who…read moretook my order was really great. I first ordered a chai latte and he said I could do two different syrups so I got the pumpkin and salted maple, though I was worried about it being too sugary so he suggested I could just do half a pump of each. He asked me what the name of the order would be and I said "Aida" (the phonetic spelling is ah-EE-dah). And then I heard the other barista say something along the lines of, "oh Aida, how about 'Aida' rather not be here", pretty rude if you ask me. And then I ordered the spicy nook sandwich. And when another server called my named to grab it she didn't even knowledge me when I tried to thank her and instead she talked to her coworker while I was right in front of her. The sandwich was really good, so was my chai tea. I really like the pumpkin and salt and maple syrups too. I did like all the options for seating although it was pretty packed. I'd say if you have a big party get there early. By 7pm the whole place was filled. There was a huge majong club that came in and took the whole back area, it was so crammed there were lines for the bathroom. Over all I had a good time. I really like the music too just know it gets very busy in there. The employees I would say were hit or miss. The ones that were great though I really liked. Just seem like the ones who didn't really give attention to customers or were kind of rude seemed like they didn't wanna be there.
