This is a fairly large Vapiano location, being at Tower Bridge, it is right on the River, having impressive views in the outside area, while also being in a good central location with London Bridge Station, just a couple of minute's away on foot.
I only came in to grab a drink and use the toilet, before heading back home. They didn't mind me coming in just for a drink, although they did sit me in the Cafe area (before even asking if I wanted food), this was a shame as I do prefer the main restaurant area with the cooler, longer tables and the open kitchen.
Vapiano has done well to modify their concept for the current climate, meaning instead of getting the card and going around the stations yourself, ordering with the chefs, you now order via a QR code (I think this location will also serve you without a QR code), which I think is an interesting idea as it means no more standing to queue and order. I do really dislike the online system's service fee though, which makes little sense.
The staff members did seem friendly but were too over-attentive, I was asked by two different staff members if I was ready to order, even though I already had ordered via the QR code, as instructed - they seemed so confused! I understand they were trying to help, but I just wanted to relax with my drink, and it easily became annoying.
Regular prices compared to other Vapiano's, my iced tea came to £4.55, a little overpriced but with premium packaging and a good taste, it was worth it.
The toilets could have been cleaner especially considering they were under lock and key!
3* - Great location, the restaurant looks good, I would like to see staff providing good but not annoying service and more gluten-free options here. read more
