I was able to walk right in and grab a table without a reservation, but note that I was dining alone so a bit easier to accommodate a party of one! I did sit at a table that was a bit cramped and in front of a door that the staff did have to come in and out of throughout the night, but the restaurant itself isn't particularly big and so I was happy to even just be seated at short notice. Came after watching Wicked as it was one of the only places open at the time. I was grateful that they still allowed customers to come and sit and eat inside at that late of an hour (+1 for that). The rest of the experience though wasn't too great. I ordered the Tagliatelle al Salmone and remind me to never order cream sauce in London again. I should definitely have gotten the red sauce which my friend got and tasted much better than my option. The pasta came surprignly fast but there wasn't that much salmon on it and it was surprisingly sweet, almost like canned. The pasta also didn't have a ton of flavor and felt like it was just like eating heavy whipping cream. Also apparently you aren't really supposed to ask for a takeout box in the UK and when I asked, the manager gave me quite a bit of attitude, raising his voice for the whole restaurant to see/hear. Great last minute meal. We dropped in at 7pm and they were able to find a table for us. It is close to the theater so an easy place to go before a show. Wicked was playing across the street. Our server was Nello who is from Naples and very accommodating. We started with bruschetta and the calamari which were both delicious. Back in 2015 when I first came to London, my cousin's friend recommended this restaurant for reasonable priced Italian food that tasted good. They live in London so the reco was a local one. They were spot on with this reco. Pasta cost between £8-14 and tasted delicious! The serving size is very generous as well. The staff always make you feel like a regular, going above and beyond to make sure you're comfortable.  This is my second trip to London and I've come to Il Posto twice! Each time I've tried a different dish. If it were just me, I'd come here for lunch and dinner every day of my trip! read more

Great authentic Italian restaurant. First time visiting London and was glad to have stopped by this venue. We tried the calamari fritti. It was tasty, served warm with great dipping sauces, next course tried pasta Bolognese which was full flavors. Last was the veal scaloppini dish which was nothing less than perfection. Just finished a Night Bus tour with Golden Tours and hadn't had a chance to eat dinner beforehand. Not too many restaurant open in the area at 21:30. Both my brother in law and I found this place via Trip Adviser and Google, and based on the reviews, we decided to go. We all wanted Italian, and the menu had great variety. Best meal this trip, hands down. We all got something different (lasagna, Pollo alla Permigiana, Spaghetti alla Carbonara, Spaghetti alla Bolognese, plus one more I cannot remember) and tried a bite of everything. If I went back I would have a hard time choosing because everything was so good. Order bread and butter, there are two different types of bread and both are delicious. The food was fresh, staff was super friendly and helpful with wine pairings. It was nice to have great service so late at night and close to their closing time (I don't normally go to restaurants that close to closing to be polite, this was a couldn't help it case). Go! A charming and delicious Italian restaurant in a wonderful location. We were heading out to see Wicked at the nearby Apollo. Victoria theatre and knew we wanted to find somewhere close by to grab some dinner before the show. We settled on Il Posto because it was so close to the theatre. Upon walking in the door we were pleasantly greeted and wished away to a table near the back. Our waiter was so genuine and joked around with us before taking our orders. We ordered a shrimp dish and bruschetta as our starters. The next thing we knew they were out and we were loving them. The bruschetta was fresh and the shrimp was perfectly cooked with some serious but wonderful spice. We ordered our entrees, I got one of the specials, a mushroom ravioli. Others in the party ordered the cannelloni and a lasagna. My meal was extraordinary. Wonderful freshly made pasta with delicious cheese and mushrooms. If you are looking for a solid Italian meal for a decent price come to Il Posto. They are ready and waiting with a smile and delicious plate of pasta. read more

Tldr: go somewhere else. Came here with a friend because we were starving and wanted a quick late lunch before we went to Westminster. Staff was unbelievably rude as they acted like it was some huge inconvenience to seat us when at the moment more than half the tables were empty. Should have just turned around and left at that, but we were starving and honestly a bit desperate at that point. We were then seated at the absolute worst table in the house (getting in and out of our seats required expert contortionism) and reluctantly served whenever someone deigned to speak to us. Friend ordered a pasta from the specials list and I ordered one of the pizzas. You'd think those items would be safe; we certainly did. Well, we were wrong. My pizza came *charred on one side* with sparse and uneven toppings AND it wasn't cut. Yes. You read that right. The pizza was not cut for me and I was left to make feeble attempts to cut my own (charred, undertopped) pizza with my own cutlery. It's worth noting that the knife they gave me was little sharper than a butter knife and the pizza, although charred on one side, was soggy in the middle, so this quite simply resulted in a bloody mess all over my plate. I eventually gave up trying to cut it and just began ripping pieces off the round atrocity and shoving them in my mouth. The pizza itself tasted terrible. Ingredients weren't fresh (either from cans or just the very back of the pantry), the sauce was flavourless, and the cheese looked and felt plastic. Honestly, Domino's would have been better and certainly much cheaper. My poor friend finished her miniscule serving of pasta and was still hungry. I gave her some chunks of my somewhat charred, somewhat soggy flat bread and she expressed that it was better than her dish. Sad. After we scarfed down our "food," we waited for what felt like ages for our bill. Staff was noticeably upset that we only ordered food (no drinks) and didn't want to even peek at the dessert menu, which we found unprofessional. Sorry folks, maybe we would want to eat your food if it actually tasted like food. What a disappointment. read more

Great place to have dinner before the theater. Fast, friendly service. Delicious food. They were able to get me in and out in under an hour so that I had time to get to the theater before the show. I had a glass of the house white wine (sauvignon blanc) and one of the house special pastas: angel hair pasta with bacon, artichokes and mushrooms in a white wine sauce. It was delicious! We picked this spot for a pre-show dinner as it's right across the road from the theatre. We shared the carpaccio starter to begin our meal and it was very good. My friend had a pizza and I picked the spaghetti carbonara. The portion sizes were quite large and the food tasted decent, though it was nothing special. Dessert was delicious though! So don't skip on that! Service was a bit slow and there was no dedicated server for specific tables, so things got confusing once in a while. While the staff were all quite friendly, this disorganised approach did bother me a bit. The tables are also placed so closely together that we were practically sitting on other people's laps, so don't expect huge comfort. My daughter and I are visiting from the U.S. and thought we'd try this out. It had friendly service and good food. My daughter had the pizza margherita and I had the veal piccata with Marsala sauce and roasted potatoes. The veal was tender and sauce had a nice flavor. The restaurant's small interior made for a tight serving space and tables being very close together, but it was not overly uncomfortable, just not optimal. The only negative thing about this place is you are packed in like sardines but everything else is a 5 star. Meats: Pollo alla Principessa - chicken with sauce and asparagus - my son says it taste like Morton's Chicken Christopher but better Pollo alla Parmigiana - traditional chicken parm - delicious We had such a great meal I came back the next day and tried the Pappardelle con Nastrini di Pollo - chicken sautéed in red bell peppers, zucchini and garlic. Terrible service. We stopped in for cocktails and appetizers before going to the Apollo Theater across the street. We explained that we were on a time limit so would only be ordering a few things to share to which the maitre de said would be no problem. The waiter obviously felt otherwise. He was truly belligerent and clearly upset that we were not ordering entrees for everyone in our group. Tho' the encounter was (fortunately) brief with this grumpy, miserable man, other people in my party were physically shaken by his abrasive, judgemental and opinionated attitude. In addition, the food was not great and pricey for the quality. Definitely not worth the scolding we took prior. To be fair, the maitre de and cocktail waitress were very nice. We were looking for a nice dinner to eat before watching Wicked when we stumbled upon this restaurant. Our first impression wasn't too great. Upon entry, we were greeted by a grumbly waiter who seemed annoyed that we didn't have a reservation. This was fine, but I feel as though the situation could have been handled differently. They still served us, but throughout the meal, the pretentious attitude of the staff made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The venue was nice looking, although quite small. The staff oftentimes had to squeeze through impossibly small gaps between tables and chairs. At the table next to us, a waiter moved a table while a family was sitting there, which I found quite unusual. The food was nothing to write home about. It was reasonably portioned, enough but not gluttonous. The flavors were what you would expect from pasta, nothing spectacular, nothing bad. The prices were reasonable. Next time I'm looking for a pre show dinner I think I will try elsewhere. read more

We were desperate for something to eat after attending a concert in Brixton and this was on our way to our flat. We arrived 30 minutes prior to closing and they welcomed us with open arms, even at the late hour. We were seated immediately and welcomed with drinks. I don't like mushrooms but LOVE gnocchi and the sweet waiter said I could have whatever my heart desired because the menu is simply a suggestion or starting point for dishes. I ordered gnocchi without mushrooms and my niece got the tortellini. Both were at our table within 15 minutes and topped with fresh parm. The pasta was fresh and tender and had amazing flavor although a little under salted. It would've been great to have some bread to sop up the sauce but other than that, it was excellent. The portion was on the small side but so was the price. We ordered tiramisu and the dessert of the day (profiteroles) to take away and it was fabulous! read more

I ate a nice dinner here this evening. This is a small, casual, authentic Italian restaurant. I was able to get a seat without a reservation, but the restaurant was nearly full when I sat down at 6:30 pm. I had the exact same meal I did about eight months ago. I started off with the bruschetta, which was fantastic. I had cannelloni for the main course. It came out hot and was delicious. I finished up with Tartufur (sp?) Classico for dessert. This is a ball of chocolate and vanilla ice cream covered in what I believe was cocoa and cinnamon. It was very good, but could have been improved with a little more chocolate syrup on the plate. The total bill including a Pimms and tip came to GBP 27. The individual pizzas seemed to be popular.
