Great home-style Italian restaurant near Regent's Park. I ordered the Carnivoro pizza (16.90 GBP), which, as the name suggests, had plenty of meat including sausage, pepperoni, and parma ham. While I appreciated the generous amount of meat, it did lead the pizza to be a bit too salty for my taste. Otherwise, it was a fairly standard pizza. I also tried the Spaghetti Carbonara (15.90 GBP), which was a classic recipe made very well. There was a delicious creaminess to the pasta with a generous amount of cheese, and the spaghetti itself was cooked perfectly. The restaurant interior has a very homey and authentic feel. There was a chill vibe inside with a couple other tables occupied but still others available. The staff are very friendly and the service speed is fine. Overall, Conchiglia is a great option for quality Italian food (pizza and pasta) in a homey environment. read more

Really good food and close by where I'm staying. The food was fab. We got here early enough and was able to get a table with no reservations. I've been to Italy 3x so I know good Italian good and this restaurant does pretty well so we'll come back again. Prices are a little high but it's a nice treat. Tip: make a reservation at least the day before since the system doesn't let you make one for that day or go early. And don't get the gelato. It was literally 1/2 a scoop vs a full scoop. Saw them transferring from a container (already scooped) into a glass dish. read more

Went here a couple of days ago on the last night my daughter and I were traveling in London. We don't have a reservation and we were fit in immediately. Servers were friendly and attentive. The bruschetta was simple and delicious. The carbonara and pappardelle burrata bomba were both amazing as were the desserts- lemon sorbet and tiramisu. Ambiance was cheery and pleasant. Magnifico! Between the Ravioli Tartufo and the chicken Milanese, it was a real treat. Imagine: Fresh pasta filled with truffle and ricotta, in a parmesan mascarpone and black pepper cream sauce and moist breaded chicken fillet fried to perfection. Authentically delicious. After building up a appetite I suggested we eat to soak up the booze. After some thought I chanced it here because I had walked past it a few times going to work etc We had the choice of being seated inside or outside..however the evening was drawing to a close so we opted for in. Everything was softly lit..and romantic like most Italians I guess? While my friend went to the bathroom a waiter did the wobble test on our table...once stable he placed a pitcher of water on the table. As soon as my friend returned I dived into the menu. This consisted of the usual dishes you get...priced averagly. For £4 I had the mushroom bruchetta followed by a chicken risotto for £15. My friend had a craving for plain bread with oil and balsamic vinegar and a traditional carbonara in which came with the option of a creamy sauce. We supped on a bottle of red which cost £22 (not bad for a restaurant) while we waited for our nosh. Both arrived in good time and the portions were fair. The mains were just as good and with every delivery the waiter would always offer extra cheese and pepper. The service was charming and impeccable and the food good. Don't get me wrong this isn't the best Italian food I've had but it was good and the ambiance and excellent service made it a great evening. Would I be back? The food was amazing. I got the burrata pasta and the creamy burrata just melted into my pasta - was so delicious. I cannot wait to go back and get it again. My daughter had spaghetti and marinara sauce - she ate it so fast - she loved it. My husband had the cacio e peppi and really enjoyed it too. We loved the bread and olive oil - simple but excellent quality. The fried zucchini was just ok - we prefer fried zucchini to have thinly sliced zucchini. Went here in the recommendation of my London based cousin. I was starving. Arrived and was promptly seated outside by the host who might also have been the owner. Service was fast and super attentive throughout despite some quirks - they asked me if i wanted desert before my main arrived and I had 3 servers one of whom was mute or didn't speak any English. Onto the food. First a Caesar salad with chicken. It had fresh ingredients. But no caesar dressing. So it was tasty but not what I ordered. Next was a spaghetti with clams with white wine sauce. Good dish if not spectacular. Was starving as I said so next I ordered a thin crust margarita. This was a decent pizza if a bit bland. It came served on a nice ceramic plate. What a gorgeous place, family run and Italian. Large party downstairs so thought we maybe affected but the noise and the service speed was just right so the kitchens must have been working overtime! Food excellent! Calamari with a nice crunch and thin batter, bruschetta delicious with extra virgin olive oil drizzle. Mains were tasty pasta cooked al dented so not soft. Wine was decent but didn't try then any of the numerous desserts on offer. Toilets were absolutely dreadful and really detracted from the evening! I noted the 3.5 from the last reviewer and really felt a 4 was appropriate. Very traditional, casual Italian restaurant. Good food, better than usual service for central London and quite outstanding prices for the quality and portions. Great for families as they offer all of the more traditional items like pizza and simple pastas, but also the slightly more sophisticated for those preferring. As a bonus, they offer take-away, which for the prices beats a kebab wrapped in paper any day! Only two blocks of of Great Portland street, with quaint outdoor seating, I might even call this a local gem. read more

Five stars without any hesitation. I've lived in London for about two years now, and my friend and I both felt this was potentially the best meal we've both ever had in London. Definitely the best Italian we've had here. We arrived just before it got packed in there, and thank goodness for that. We accidentally (kinda) ordered enough for three people. Based on the location and the reviews I'd read, my friends and I tried Conchiglia for dinner on Sunday night. The menu was a set menu with a good selection available, so we were fine. Pros: Pleasant environment, nice staff, very good dessert, good prices. The food: As a starter, one of my friends had a hearty vegetable soup which liked, but didn't rave about and I had a bruschetta that was fine, but a bit heavy - the term I'd use is unremarkable. My friends both had the Branzino for their mains and said it was good. It looked moist and was nicely presented. I had a lamb dish which had the benefit of not being overcooked! The challenge was that it was served without any kind of sauce or jus, and it was served with chips (for my US friends, french fries!) The chips were very good, but the dish ended up being very dry and did not seem even slightly Italian. For dessert I had a very good apple crumble with vanilla ice cream on the side. That was excellent. I think, perhaps, if I'd tried a pasta dish I might have seen more Italian spirit in the food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't at all bad. It just wasn't inspired, nor did it show the kind of passion for food that typically marks Italian cuisine. It felt more like pub food. The only other thing I could have done without was the manager/maitre de' who walked around randomly singing along with the music. Strange. Once or twice was funny. The whole meal was a big much. And where you enter the restaurant was a dining table that, instead of being set for service, was covered with napkins and glasses for the rest of the dining room. That was something I would expect to be reserved for a service station, not out in the middle of the dining room. All in all, this was a not-unpleasant, but not exceptional evening. I wouldn't go out of my way for it. If you're in the neighborhood and looking for Italian food I'd opt for Demartino instead. Sorry, but true. read more

Looks a little tired, but don't let this put you off. Food was great (Spaghetti alla Carbonara for me, Strozzapreti Gamberi e zucchine e pomodoro for my wife). Both dishes were clearly freshly made, piping hot, plentiful (one can always leave some if too much!), well presented and, most importantly very tasty! Service was excellent - polite, respectful and timely. We were offered water straight away (and it was not assumed that we wanted overpriced bottled water). We were eating early, so the restaurant was by no means busy, but as a couple, it was nice not to be shown to a pokey little table. Prices were very reasonable - it's worth going a little off the beaten track - and there was a polite handshake on exit. read more

Really good food and the place itself is very well done and clean and neat ! The only problem is the service it's like amateur hour really. First they served the pizza uncut and than the helper cut it using his bare hands which is a huge no-no. After all that we saved the pizza and one of the helpers throw it away by mistake when we asked him to save it. I would say enjoy the place but be aware of the service and how they handle your food. read more

I'd give this place 3.5 stars. The homemade tomato soup and sea bass were tasty. The Spaghetti Vongole was just OK. The spaghetti was al dante which I like but there were some pieces a bit too undercooked. There were also bits of sand in the clams and too much butter/oil used. All in all a good spot with great service and wine selection. The prices are very reasonable. Will be back to give it a second try. read more

A charming little Italian in the heart of Fitzrovia. Good, hearty, wholesome fare served with speed - perfect for a lunch date. I enjoyed some lovely gnocchi with pesto and cherry tomatoes while my dining companion tucked in to a vast (and delicious - had to snaffle a bite!) calzone. We, two of us, had a massive thin crispy pizza to share as a starter. It was so good and big, took up the whole table. Then, each of us had a pasta, which was al dente :)) and a glass of wine, came up to £53. Reasonable. They have £15+ 3 course set menu too. Complimentary biscuit at the end was SO tasty you can tell it was home made (indeed it was. I asked) Staff very attentive and kind without much words, just the way I like it. I'm the first to review! I work opposite this restaurant and ate in here with some colleagues and my boss yesterday. I can't remember the house wine of choice, but it was really lovely. The food delicious with a really good value set menu. Not a single person at the table complained about their food, there was squid ordered, pasta, pizza, soup.... evrything was liked. Small and lovely place to go to for an excellent Italian meal. This restaurant doesn't sparkle with a glamour or specific Italian design, but it doesn't matter the food is really good there. They always change their menu to suit the seasonal produce and never fail to satisfy. The pizza is a star quality, light crisp bread, fresh mozzarella and the cheese not too fat not too dry. Our experience at Conchiglia was 5-star. The wait-staff and owner (from Venice) were customer-focused and extremely pleasant, a far cry from our Italian restaurant experience the prior evening near Trafalgar Square. Lots of specials, as well as an extensive regular menu. We were a party of six and did not leave a speck of food behind - delicious! A few of us ordered tomato, avocado and mozzarella salad. When it arrived, it was so perfect that the rest of the table ordered it too. For my main course, I had small shells with smoked salmon, fresh dill and a mascarpone cheese sauce - delicious. Our party had a wide variety of dishes and everyone raved about how tasty their meal was. We then shared two desserts for the table - profiteroles and a fresh berry panna cotta.
