Carbonara
Nikki L.

Really good food and close by where I'm staying. The food was fab. We got here early enough and was able to get a table with no reservations. I've been to Italy 3x so I know good Italian good and this restaurant does pretty well so we'll come back again. Prices are a little high but it's a nice treat. Tip: make a reservation at least the day before since the system doesn't let you make one for that day or go early. And don't get the gelato. It was literally 1/2 a scoop vs a full scoop. Saw them transferring from a container (already scooped) into a glass dish.

So charming

Such a charming little place... inside and out. Great food and great service too. We had the calamari and a pasta cream sauce with chicken on top

Outside

Went here a couple of days ago on the last night my daughter and I were traveling in London. We don't have a reservation and we were fit in immediately. Servers were friendly and attentive. The bruschetta was simple and delicious. The carbonara and pappardelle burrata bomba were both amazing as were the desserts- lemon sorbet and tiramisu. Ambiance was cheery and pleasant. Definitely recommend!

After building up a appetite I suggested we eat to soak up the booze. After some thought I chanced it here because I had walked past it a few times going to work etc We had the choice of being seated inside or outside..however the evening was drawing to a close so we opted for in. Everything was softly lit..and romantic like most Italians I guess? While my friend went to the bathroom a waiter did the wobble test on our table...once stable he placed a pitcher of water on the table. As soon as my friend returned I dived into the menu. This consisted of the usual dishes you get...priced averagly. For £4 I had the mushroom bruchetta followed by a chicken risotto for £15. My friend had a craving for plain bread with oil and balsamic vinegar and a traditional carbonara in which came with the option of a creamy sauce. We supped on a bottle of red which cost £22 (not bad for a restaurant) while we waited for our nosh. Both arrived in good time and the portions were fair. The mains were just as good and with every delivery the waiter would always offer extra cheese and pepper. The service was charming and impeccable and the food good. Don't get me wrong this isn't the best Italian food I've had but it was good and the ambiance and excellent service made it a great evening. Would I be back? Possibly..only because there are quite a few restaurants to try.

The food is delicious! My daughter and I ate their twice during our recent trip to London. We even had an amazing reunion here with our cousins that we haven't seen in decades. It was a lovely outdoor evening. The decor outside was perfect for our family time together. The service was prompt and accurate. Check this place out!

This restaurant is just awesome. The Italian atmosphere and food are fantastic... they also offer gluten-free pasta and starters which makes this restaurant a highly recommended place for everyone who is dependent on food that doesn't contain gluten.

A charming little italian family restaurant. i had an absolutely wonderful meal with a glass of red house wine at a very affordable price. Fast and good service with a smile and a friendly word. Only minus is the lighting inside.

Everyone was attentive, welcoming, and made the whole meal feel easy and relaxed without being too formal. Food wise, everything was really good. I ordered the cacio e pepe and it was cooked perfectly. Simple dish, but when it's done right, it really hits. The drinks were also great and ended up being the perfect start before walking around the neighborhood afterward. Overall, just a really solid Italian spot in a beautiful part of London.

The hostesses were nice but spunky, taking no crap whatsoever. Our waitress was very nice. We had a stop and chat with her midway through the meal. There was a variety of wines at a variety of price points. The primitivo got the job done. The restaurant presented an excellent bread basket to start. It was delicious- a great contrast to the notoriously bland bread that we recently had in Florence. We shared an order or grilled asparagus to start, in a somewhat futile attempt to be healthy. It was pretty good, but there were a lot more interesting choices at the top of the menu. My wife had the tortellaci with ricotta and spinach. It was very good but was sitting in a pool of butter. I had tagliatelle Bolognese. It was good. Very nice space with very good food. Keep the outdoor seating in mind for a nice day.

My husband and I stumbled (quite literally) into Bocconcino after hitting a wall of jet lag and…read morehunger. The hostess took pity on us and allowed us spots at the bar without reservations. The bartender was absolutely charming and amazing, and he made a truly outstanding Ramos Gin Fizz (a cocktail from New Orleans that few people know how to make, and even fewer want to make). Not sure how that cocktail came up, but he seriously deserves a round of applause for making not one, but two. He truly revived my soul! I split the gazpacho and short rib pasta with my husband. The short rib pasta was magically both light and hearty; it was exactly what we needed after 18 hours of travel. We frequently travel, and I am highly skeptical of Italian food when outside of Italy. Bocconcino was an authentic experience that rivals many of our meals in Rome. Maybe it was jet lag, but I did almost lock myself into the water closet and luckily after a few minutes manage to unlock the stall door without calling for assurance. I suggest visiting with a friend for gossip and security! As far as ambiance, there was great people watching with the Saturday evening patrons; it was an experience in learning about London 'going out' fashion, and watching the very attractive staff interact with customers was a prime education in upper class customer service/flirting. My parting comment is that the bartender stole my heart and I hope to have another of his delicious beverages on a future trip!
