My husband and I stumbled (quite literally) into Bocconcino after hitting a wall of jet lag and hunger. The hostess took pity on us and allowed us spots at the bar without reservations. The bartender was absolutely charming and amazing, and he made a truly outstanding Ramos Gin Fizz (a cocktail from New Orleans that few people know how to make, and even fewer want to make). Not sure how that cocktail came up, but he seriously deserves a round of applause for making not one, but two. He truly revived my soul! I split the gazpacho and short rib pasta with my husband. The short rib pasta was magically both light and hearty; it was exactly what we needed after 18 hours of travel. We frequently travel, and I am highly skeptical of Italian food when outside of Italy. Bocconcino was an authentic experience that rivals many of our meals in Rome. Maybe it was jet lag, but I did almost lock myself into the water closet and luckily after a few minutes manage to unlock the stall door without calling for assurance. I suggest visiting with a friend for gossip and security! As far as ambiance, there was great people watching with the Saturday evening patrons; it was an experience in learning about London 'going out' fashion, and watching the very attractive staff interact with customers was a prime education in upper class customer service/flirting. My parting comment is that the bartender stole my heart and I hope to have another of his delicious beverages on a future trip! read more

Made reservations for dinner. We arrived a bit early and were able to be accommodated promptly. We were led downstairs (there are other areas with music/DJ) and offered a table. Pricey but amazing experience and space at Bocconcino. We were seated in the back room which was beautiful and intimate. The burata and calamari were great starters. On the smaller size but great little treats before the main meal. The fuslili pasta with langoustine wasn't exactly what I expected but the sauce was amazing and tasty with a hint of seafood flavor. The sauce was so good I took a few bits without any pasta, delicious. Service was amazing and on point. Worth the delicious food and atmosphere alone. read more

There are over 600,000 Italians in London, making it the 5th or 6th largest "Italian city." Given that, the food should be excellent. At Bocconcino the food is fine, but not excellent and certainly not up to the beautiful surroundings or the price. You can do better elsewhere despite it being an influencer haven. read more

Had a good time at bottomless brunch here with some friends over the weekend. For £59 you get bottomless drinks (aperol spritz, Bellinis, Prosecco) and bottomless pizza. The restaurant is beautiful and definitely feels very upscale. Service was super attentive and the drinks were flowing. We would get second rounds before we were even done with our first. They were also (suspiciously) fast about churning out the pizza. Pizza was just okay. Definitely didn't live up to the overall vibes of the restaurant. Crust was very crispy and nothing stood out as being really exceptional, but it was fine and after 5 aperol spritzes that's all you need. The main thing that bugged me is that we had a 12:30 res, were seated at 12:35, and got our first round of drinks at prob 12:45. It was a 90 minute bottomless and they cut us off at 1pm on the dot. I understand sticking to the time limit but it seemed like they could have been a bit more flexible. Music/DJ was fine. Didn't love it. If I had to name one hundred things about Bocconcino SoHo Location, i guarantee 99 of them would be negative. To start off, me and one other person in our 4 person party are gluten free. That being said, I heavily researched before we attended Bocconcino regarding their options. On several different platforms it said that they offer both gluten free pasta and pizza. We arrived to the restaurant, great start with our drinks I loved the Almafi Twilight cocktail. This will be the last positive thing said. Additionally it took like 30 minutes for them to order our drinks, and my friend ordered a dirty martini and was presented with a regular one. Drinks are also tiny and overpriced for the small amount of alcohol they come with. $17 for an We started to order our food and the chain gets to my friend where she orders a pasta dish gluten free. Then we are hit with, "we don't have gluten free pasta, or anything. The only options we have are the protein options." Jaw hit the floor. We have to rapidly scavenge through all three protein options to order something that fit our diet. We triple checked online before this, and then began to at the table once the server left. What we come to find is that out of their many locations (all two of them, Mayfair and soho) only the Mayfair location has gluten free. But both have the same menu... interesting. Moving on to when our dishes come, my friend ordered the Caesar salad. Safe, right? Wrong. My friend has a severe case of excema that is brought out by the following foods: eggs, tomatoes, berries, dairy. She can eat small traces of dairy and eggs though, like the Parmesan cheese that normally comes on a Caesar salad. Her plate shows up, entire hard boiled egg on top with cherry tomatoes all around. Who even puts that in a Caesar salad especially without naming it on the menu? So she has to pick all of them off and is left with like 5 peices of lettuce because half of the base was cherry tomatoes. Also, the 4th member of our party ordered a Margarita pizza. She said it was mid. They also don't know how to use salt here everything was so dry and bland. read more

Not a luxury restaurant and certainly not for families. First the website states £80 per adult (chceked this today), yet I was charged £85. When I spoke with the manager she said prices have gone up. I explained well it hasnt changed on the website and so thats false advertising. The service charge is 15% and I wouldnt usually mind but they didnt take the dirty dishes away, didnt refill our water, didnt give clean cutlery, didnt clean the table and when I was at the dessert buffet, the waiters were standing round laughing and swearing. The lobster looks nothing like the online pics and is not fresh. You have to peel the prawns and you ob use your hands for the lobster and oysters but get no hand wipes or bowl to put your hands in after like most restaurants. My son opted for the pepperoni pizza as his main but one bite and said it was very spicy and so he didnt have a main. The waiter didnt offer anything else. We didnt get asked if we were enjoying our meal or if everything was ok. It was very cold and so my son sat the whole meal with his coat on. The lady next to us also complained about how cold it was but they said nothing they could do. I opted for the roast- think undercooked yorkshire, boiled potatoes (not roasts) and chewy/fatty beef. Carrots and parsnips were nice though. Hand dryer in toilets didnt work and the toilet was extremely dirty. Music was nice but very loud and the room is tiny. The online pics are very deceiving. Its very tight to move around. So basically £150 for a kid to eat some salmon and cucumber, apple juice and a poor roast (with some lobster and prawns). Worst service. Overall completely overpriced and a very disappointing experience. Shame as this was a treat for my birthday. I also did try to explain to the lady on reception I had been overcharged and she was like "go downstairs and find a manager". I told her to go downstairs and you could see she was annoyed. This is a very trendy Italian restaurant in Mayfair. I chose this restaurant after reading several reviews and seeing many pictures on Instagram, and though it was nice, I am not sure if I would return. ORDER: Burratina D'Andria con pomodori e pesto; Spaghetti Arrabiata; Tagliatelle al Tartufo Nero Pregiato; Fondente al cioccolato con gelato alla vaniglia AVOID: Pici Cacio E Pepe; Torta al cioccolato; Focaccia al rosmarino; Bloody Mary Let me start by saying I had extremely high hopes for this restaurant. For an antipasti, the mixed olives were very nice, but the focaccia al rosmarino was unimpressive and very dry. It was more like plain pizza bread with rosemary sprinkled on top and nothing (not even olive oil) served with it. The salumi toscani plate was nice. My asparagus with black truffle and poached egg was nice, but it lacked flavor - the truffle flavor was not very pronounced and it was lacking salt. Two of my companions ordered the Pici cacio e pepe - one of our favorite pastas from Tuscany. Unfortunately they were out of pici, so they substituted linguine instead, which just isn't the same as homemade pici. It was barely seasoned and my companions had to add a large amount of salt and pepper at the table. The tagliatelle al tartufo nero pregiato was quite nice, but as with all fresh truffle dishes, there are never enough truffles ;) The spaghetti arabbiata was AMAZING!!! I loved it! My friend's was far more spicy than mine and to be honest, mine being slightly less spicy was more enjoyable. I would definitely get this again. As with many items the night we ate here, they were out of the Fragole di Stagione which is what my friend wanted - instead they brought her fresh mixed fruit and chantilly cream, but it was unimpressive. The torta al cioccolato tasted like a big hershey kiss and came with a lot of raspberry coulis, which I despise. The fondente al cioccolato con gelta alla vaniglia was DELICIOUS. Overall, they were out of several items we wanted to order and most of the food took quite a bit of time to come out. We had to ask several times for parmigiano cheese on our pasta and for limes for my friend's flavorless Bloody Mary. The manager came by at the end and apologized for their lack of items and slow service and assured us it was not normally how they do business, but only having been here one time I can not speak to whether or not this was the norm. I would be willing to try this restaurant again, if nothing else for the spaghetti arrabiata. read more

The atmosphere and interior design of the restaurant is really nice and grand. There's a ground floor and basement - it's quite large. I went for restaurant week and everything was just ok. The waitress mostly forgot about our table, never bringing us water until after we asked a few times and this happened throughout the evening. I had the beet salad which was nice but nothing to write home about and the butternut squash ravioli which had very little character. My fav was probably the dessert. I have even emailed the manager since with no reply... I am absolutely horrified with the service I received. I arrived just before 11pm and we got sat down, we ordered right away as I knew the kitchen shut at 11.15 as called prior, I was trying to be as courteous as possible because it was late. Firstly, our starters came out wrong and we had to send it back, I understand this is not a big issue - mistakes happen. However, It took until we had finished our starters for one of the drinks to come (we even had to remind the staff) Our mains came, I asked 3 times during my mains for condiments that never came, it really wasn't that busy in the restaurant. The most appalling part about the night was whilst I am eating my mains a waitress brings out the desserts and says you need to have your dessert now because the kitchen is closed. This was around 11.50pm so we said to the waitress in shock We thought you closed at 12:30 and were told on weekdays the restaurant closes at 12:00pm. I am even more shocked.... as looking at your website this morning it states you are open until 12:30pm. The waitress proceeded to leave the desert on the table whilst I am still eating my mains and walks away. Unbelievably if that wasn't bad enough another waiter came over at 11.58 with the card machine for the bill Whilst still eating the desert wanting us to pay. I genuinely have never received such appalling service in my life. Usually I'm not very fond of going to Italian restaurants because I haven't been to any that I find really good, there's so many Italian chains on the high street and I can easily cook pasta at home. But Bocconcino is definitely worth recommending. The service was great and everyone was so attentive and friendly. The food was excellent, dishes were very flavoursome unlike chain restaurants where sometimes I find the pasta tend to be either too dry or bland and the flavours of the seafood/meat/sauce isn't infused in with the pasta. Yet, when I tried the lobster linguine at Bocconcino, I can say it's one of the best ones I've had. The pasta was full of flavours, I finished every strand of it. I also ordered the baby octopus for starters, the broth was delicious and the portion size was generous. The meal was finished off perfectly with desserts, which we ordered Millefolgie and Tirumisu. Had their newly rolled-out breakfast menu a few months ago- based in posher-than-posh Berkeley Square in Mayfair, it made sense for it to be the most opulent-looking pizzeria I've ever visited. If you swapped their pizza and pasta menu for a Michelin-starred Italian one in the same venue, nothing would feel out of place. *Update: it seems like they canceled their breakfast offerings, but the open-faced prosciutto sandwich I had was delicious. Would like to try their pizzas for lunch or dinner next time, but for now no real complaints. read more
