Fried mushrooms & pastrami cigars
Karishma P.

Loved the pre mixed drinks - the lemony ouzo and the lemon ginger ouzo. Food flavours and not too sweet. We had good luck with most of the starters - the fried mushrooms, pastrami cigars, fried calamari and the pork belly. The meatballs weren't as tasty in comparison and the mussels were frozen, so not much flavour there. Based on previous reviews we tried the grilled pork shoulder, but that wasn't very flavourful & the meat was tough. The moussaka had much much better flavours. With food being a bit hit & miss, this isn't a place I'd actually return to for dinner, but I wouldn't mind heading here for drinks & snacks.

Had a super good lunch at Santorini restaurant! Love all this minimal white! Check it out!

However, on deeper inspection - the Cow is a marvelous dining experience - complete with an extensive wine selection, rotating specials, and a bespoken approach to food preparation. The food? Well, it's British pub fare - with a slightly divergent menu on Sundays. Everything is fresh and beautifully plated. The bangers and mash was exceptional. The green bean salad was so unique and popping with flavors, I scribbled the ingredients list in an attempt to reproduce the dish at home. The atmosphere is hopping - it's a small pub ambience and there is not any wasted space. Not to fear, the delightful staff can help find a table for your party. I was a bit intimidated walking in on a Sunday night all by myself. My trepidation quickly went away as the server made it easy to relax and enjoy my evening. As a small aside, I sat next to the small kitchen space on the main floor. To see the amazing plates being prepared one after the other in that tiny kitchen, well . . . that was an amazing experience in and of itself. Chapeau to the chef. Truly a masterpiece to put out such accomplished food from a space no larger than most bathrooms.

The chips were thick-cut, properly salted, and tasted like real chip shop fries instead of frozen fast food fries. The place was completely packed, so I ended up eating on the stairs about a block away, honestly felt like part of the experience. One of those spots that doesn't try to reinvent fish and chips. it just does the classic version better than most places. Would easily go back next time I am in London.

(I heard the non GF version was also excellent.) Platter came with flavorful mushy peas, tartar sauce, and a spicy mayo (or currry for the non GF platter). Chips were large and delicious. Portion was huge, and easily shareable. Delicious!! Service: It was ok. We waited in line for a really long time (more than an hour) but we were checked on from time to time. Once we were seated and ordered, no one really checked in, but we asked if we needed something. Ambiance: Cute outdoor seating. In door seating was okay. Reservations get to go into a back room which seemed nicer. Lovely side street in a crazy busy popular area. It's a solid 4.5 stars for what it is because the food was so good. I'd return. Tip: Make a reservation a couple of weeks in advance, or be prepared to wait...a long time...Or, skip the line to order takeaway and go enjoy your food!

It is a bit far from the center of London. # Ambiance Dove has a modern homely feel, supporting comfortable seating with plenty of lighting, setting the stage for a nice little candlelit dinner. # Food and Drink Roasted Romanesco Cauliflower The cauliflower was quite a bit smaller than expected for 2 pieces of cauliflower for 21 pounds. The cauliflower itself is more on the salty side, but the sauce and grapes help to balance out the salinity. Duck fat fries The fries were hands down the best part of the meal. The size of the fries were perfect and they were nice and crispy while maintaining a soft pillowy interior. They were also well seasoned and didn't need any sauce. 30-day Tamworth Pork Double Loin Chop The pork chop is an interesting situation where it takes over 45 minutes to prepare due to the sheer thickness of the pork chop. After the wait, the pork chop just ends up being just alright. It's nicely cooked and served with some kind of jus. Ultimately this dish would've been eliminated on Culinary Class Wars because there was some sinew in the pork chop. Ginger Beer This ginger beer was the most expensive one I tried and it just ranks third out of 4 ginger beers. The flavor is more tame than I'd like.

Incredible service, perfect food. So happy to have them around the corner! I absolutely love Pescheria Mattiucci! This new place open around the corner from me and at first glace I though it was a new fish monger opening up on a very hot piece of real estate, but then walking by at night I saw people dining there! It's a fish monger by day, seafood restaurant by night. It is run by a family from Napoli who import fresh fish from the family fishing boat. Each day there is fresh fish of the day that was just caught. The owner is super friendly and more than happy to tell you all about the day's product and recommend the best wine to accompany it. They have a couple outposts in Italy and this is their first venture outside the country and it is a huge hit, especially with the neighbouring Italian competitors. At first I thought it was another place that would shut down 6 months later, but I have found myself back here time and again, each time saying "this is THE spot, the best local!". I recommend just putting your meal in the hands of the owner who will most definitely come by your table (there are only about 6 or 7 tables) and order what he suggests as it changes daily. There is always a veggie starter dish that is excellent! Highly recommended, usually consisting of 5 small tasters, and all very well though out. If you have a complex of not mixing fish and dairy (with the obvious exceptions) this place will change your mind. I feel so lucky to have this around the corner, in fact I am about to run out for some fresh fish to cook in tonight! Definitely swing by when you're in the neighbourhood.

BUT - from an overall point of view, it is plain ordinary. Fish is not bad, but I've had much better. Portions are extremely small and, this is what gets me most, the prices are exorbitant. We actually walked up to another restaurant for a second meal as we were still hungry. Tip: Avoid this place.
