From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the vibrant atmosphere and charming decor that perfectly combines Italian flair with a cozy, welcoming vibe. The menu is a nice variety to traditional Italian cuisine, featuring a variety of dishes that cater to every palate. I started with the Burrata, which was creamy and paired beautifully with fresh tomatoes and basil. For the main course, I opted for the Cacio e Pepe--perfectly al dente with a rich, flavorful sauce. Yelp does not seem to have the review following that I experience as my "go to" in the States, but now that you have stumbled on mine, please book a table asap.. Big Mamma Group has a slew of trendy, vibrant Italian inspired restaurants (Gloria, Circolo Popolare, Ave Maria, Jacuzzi & Carlotta) and at this visit we were in London, close to the Shoreditch Trattoria. You can head to TikTok to see a plethora of videos to decide which might appeal to you. I do not think that you can go wrong with any of them, and all command a reservation (with a deposit) way in advance. Ignore the haters, Gloria is the real deal !! How can I say this ? because Lee & I recently spent 2 weeks in Italy, from Milan to Rome in June and IMO, Gloria was some of the best tasting & presented dishes of the ones that we also loved in Bologna, Florence & the hill towns. This is not a huge space, but a charming, well curated Tuscan décor rather than a nightclub type of red velvet space. The upstairs, where we sat, had a main room that was filled with sunshine in a beautiful array of cushioned, circular banquets filled with pillows of stripes & floral. We sat in the back room, a fiesta of wine bottles and wood tables, 2 communal and one that held a party of 20 but was quickly broken down to smaller seating arrangements. We loved watching the fast paced action of decorative porcelain plates and stunning cocktails in Sicilian Moor's Heads...(This is the best explanation that I can describe) The food was beautifully presented & the menu changes monthly. We started with the Albicocca Spritz & I Hate Negroni, perfect. The Trio of Olives offered a perfect garlic-chili brine with our drinks. I would have adored the stunning Tutti Prodotti Tower, a triple tiered stand with cheeses, meat, olives made with love, but we knew it would be too much. The Big Mamma Classic Carpaccio was nothing like I have ever experienced..the delicate texture, the perfect accompaniment of rocket salad, big flakes of 22 mo. aged Parmigiano Reggiano. & balsamic reduction..Chef's Kiss !! In Truffle We Trust..man..Black truffle cream, sautéed oyster mushrooms finished with aioli & loads of fresh black truffle..an amazing sight, an amazing crust and just unparalleled to any of the numerous pizza's that we have experienced. Not a quite a favorite was the Ravioli Allo Strachitunt, my daughter is a ravioli lover but this wasn't the best dish she's had. Lucky I could only eat 1/3 of the Truffled Pizza ! We were waiting literally 5 minutes or so to start eating while awaiting everyone's entrees to appear. For our last full day in London we sought out a spot that would be good for brunch and my girlfriend stumbled upon Gloria on one of the recommended lists. Gloria opened at 11AM and was a short walk away. We were the first customers of the day with our reservation at 11. Inside is super cute and the seating is comfy- the fabric does show some signs of wear when people have spilled things. Now the food, while not traditional brunch we were searching for, was phenomenal. The lemon and ricotta ravioli and the lemon tiramisu were so fresh and full of that lemon flavor you want when ordering a lemon dish. It's been a few weeks since we visited, but I've thought about this meal almost every day since and wish we had this spot back home. The reservation when we called in that we tip late. They told us 15 mins grace is formed. It was pouring outside and we have no control of the weather in london. They put us on the corner table right by the entrance... stuffy, people coming in and out pushing my hubby chair nom-stop. By the way, how can they clean the dirts from those plastic flowers on the ceiling? Seriously. The was was cramped, stuffy, and un-welcomed. Front hosstess was full of attitude... I told them they should leave it at home because it's Christmas time, they should be more welcoming... The cheese ball with truffle was extremely salty. The pasta with lamb ragu was so salty. My hubby did not finish it. So the pizza with spicy sausage was salty that my mouth was swollen afterward. We left half of the pizza. The Mozzarella with cracker was ok. The big carpaccio and truffle was the best of all. We did not bother for dessert, we just took off after paid the bill via a QR code on the table. Our server was ok but we felt rushed, pushed out, and absolutely unwelcome. I will not recommend this to any of my food friends nor families, very disappointed visit. I guess they don't care because they are packed on the weekend before Christmas . There so many good places in London, this is definitely NOT a place for me. Definitely need to make reservations! I'm giving 3.5-4 stars for the great service and accommodation. We were really late for our reservation but they were still able to accommodate us despite being super busy since they are a popular restaurant. Upon seating the waiter explained the menu and gave us his recommendations. We ordered some drinks and appetizers. I love truffle so anything that has truffle appeals me. We ordered: - Empanadas - Honey I truffled the crochetta - Truffle pizza & added prosciutto - Bolognese - Truffle spaghetti (this is 2 servings so you have to share with someone) - Tiramisu I loved the truffle crochetta. Full of flavor. Empanadas were great. I was kinda disappointed in the pizza and spaghetti. I'm a saucy girly and I would have liked the spaghetti to be saucier and more flavorful. It was a bit bland. Pizza was also lacking some flavor. Tiramisu was fantastic and a must if ur a tiramisu lover. We each ordered 2 drinks and bill came out to about 200 GBP for the 3 of us. A modern, upbeat Italian themed restaurant with a creative Italian cuisine w large selection of pastas and pizza. Food seemed well prepared and presented and would rate a 5 by itself. Traditional Margherita pizza was excellent and Princess Picannte was not overly spicy or hot and had contrasting sweetness from caramelized onions - very good, but different. Weakness of otherwise excellent meal was service - yes, some "authentic" Italian wait staff, which are stretched thin and supplemented with local servers. Great presentation and decent food. From the green walls to Cacio e Pepe demonstration in a big wheel of cheese, this place has plenty of grammable visual attractions. You might say gimmicky, I guess that depends on your taste. The service is great - fast and friendly. The food is good. Not mind blowing but good. Burrata was served in chilli olive oil with pesto on top. No salt on burrata itself, which I found a bit lacking in seasoning. Basil pesto pasta was ok. It was very salty. I tasted salt but not much of basil, pine nuts or Parmesan. Tiramisu was great, though. No gimmick there. Classic recipe, just very nicely executed. read more

Honestly the best meal we had during our trip. So good we came home and tried to recreate the dessert. In full transparency we went because it was listed on a website for best brunch spots and made assumptions it would have "brunch food" which it does not, but do not be deterred. It's more of a 3.5. Our pasta was undercooked and our server tried to tell us that it was hard because the pasta was fresh? It didn't really make sense because some of the pieces were softer than the others. He did comp the pasta though, and everything else was delicious. I have so many good things to say about Gloria. We'd been to Mamma Primi in Paris a few years ago, and knew we had to come to the sister restaurant when in London. The exterior has much of the same vibe, the food was just as good, and service was even better! We had a server named Leo and he made our night. To start, we got the burrata and olives. For mains, we shared a Margherita Pizza and the Mafaldine pasta in truffle sauce (no pic because we ate it so fast - whoops). Truly heavenly. Just enough food for 2 people. Throughout the night we had a few cocktails, the Summer Margarita and Olive Martini, which were also great. Highly recommend, but make sure to make a reservation in advance. read more

Big Mamma Group has done it again. If you're a fan of their Paris restaurants, Gloria will not disappoint. While there are new dishes on the menu, they've also brought over favorites like the black truffle pasta (YUM) and Instagram pizza. The tables are a bit close together but nothing that will truly disturb your experience. All the better to take a peek at what the table next to you is enjoying. There's a small bar near the lobby but no speakeasy (a missed opportunity if you ask me). They only take reservations for large groups but dining solo, they were willing to seat me with another solo dinner so I wouldn't have to wait unnecessarily. read more

When I realized the Big Mamma group had some locations in London I knew I had to check it out. Last year, I had gone to Pink Mamma in Paris with friends and had a great meal so I had high expectations. You definitely need reservations, the restaurant gets full pretty quickly once they open for dinner. We were seated in the basement, which for dinner was fine but I would recommend asking to be seated upstairs if you have the option. The vibe upstairs is very different from downstairs. They had some great cocktail and cocktail options, I ordered the Big Mamma drink hoping for something refreshing and it delivered. For our started we ordered the Pappa Pomodoro Burrata and the focaccia, a great combination. You can never go wrong with burrata and I would recommend everyone order it. For dinner I had the truffle pasta, which was absolutely delicious. I was worried it may be a bit too truffle-y but it was just the right amount. You could tell the pasta was fresh, it was cooked perfectly. Mafalda is not a type of pasta I have often but I really enjoyed it. My friend ordered the Green Day, which was a pest pasta. I tried a bit and also thought that was great. It actually felt really light which does not happen with pasta often. read more

Unfortunately, my experience at Gloria fell short of my expectations. Upon my arrival I was greeted by the hostess that informed me that the wait time for a table was approximately 30 mins. As I waited at the bar the bartender didn't approach me on the side I was on to take my order. I then decided to order drink at my seat. I was seated within the 30 mins. The ambiance was lively and the restaurant was full. The service at my table was just ok. I ordered the carbonara as well as the focaccia as a starter. The focaccia was a bit hard. Wasn't my fave. Then I recieved the carbonara. The guanciale was supposed to be crispy however it was more burnt than anything, and instead of a creamy base it was quite watery with no flavor. It really was a disappointment. I can't say I recommend this restaurant for its food but if you want a mediocre Italian dinner with good ambiance perhaps give this spot a try. read more

Gloria is super romantic and cozy. The decor is cute and eye catching. Sitting in our table alone was fun for look around. I love the attention to detail the owners put in.. the tables remind me of having a nice meal in a patio somewhere in Italy. The service was nice and attentive. When we came in the hostess was mesmerized by my boyfriend which I took as a compliment but being a hostess in my teenage years I was trained to respect couples especially being a greeter. The food was full of taste and unlike most of the reviews on here I must say... a u t h e n t i c. I'm sorry if you were expecting some crazy menu or a little Italian chef coming to visit your table. Amazing experience! We did not have reservations and showed up at the front door with our two kids. One of the gentleman took pity on our no reservation status and was able to get us a table. The servers are kind and attentive. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. We ordered the pesto and Bolognese pastas and hot chick pizza. We loved everything we ordered but still had food envy watching all the different menu options going to tables around us. I need to go back for the truffle spaghetti. Dear Foodie readers, fresh off the presses... straight from London, a new review for you...located in Shoreditch, which is such a fun & hip part of London...full of clubs, pubs, and great restaurants...we made reservations a month before, to make sure we got in, and even then it was pretty booked. A little piece of Italy awaits you...from the extremely quaint and cozy ambiance, to the glass fish pitcher (made in Italy, and we had to buy one, found it on Etsy lol)...started with the burrata, and ohh my gaaaa it was good. I got the truffle mushroom pasta, it was really really amazing. I don't think you can ever go wrong with truffle anything. We did not have room for dessert, but we had a great evening nestled on one of their comfy booths. The reason it did not get 5 stars was due to a delay in being served, but once we did she was great...I am spoiled from Houston service, if after a min no one has greeted you, then they are already starting off poorly lol We honestly waited a solid 7 min before anyone realized we were there.
