April 7, Albertini Restaurant Our family of four with two kids ages 9 and 10 visited for dinner. A relaxed, casual Italian spot with great energy and strong value. It ended up being our best meal in London. Arrival and First Impressions We walked in without a reservation and were seated easily. The restaurant sits right on the street with both indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant has two indoor rooms with the kitchen in one of them, and the smells immediately stand out. Staff were friendly and attentive, and the room had a great mix of locals and visitors, which gave it a fun, authentic feel. The Highlights The food was the star. I had the risotto frutti di mare, which was excellent, though it did need a bit of salt and pepper to really bring out the seafood flavor. My son, nine, had the pizza Americana without chili oil and loved it. He said the crust was moist with a crispy edge. The pepperoni had a bit of spice but he still enjoyed it. My daughter, 10, ordered the ravioli di aurora. She was not a big fan due to the spinach filling, but we swapped for a bit and she loved the risotto. I really enjoyed the ravioli. It had a soft texture with a light tomato sauce that was very well balanced. She also had the garlic mozzarella pizza, which ended up being her favorite. Simple, with garlic oil and no chunks, and really flavorful. My wife had the spaghetti con gamberoni. She found it a bit bland at first, but after adding chili oil, salt, and pepper, she really enjoyed it. The atmosphere added a lot to the experience. There were regulars nearby chatting and clearly enjoying their meals, and the staff treated them like family, which made the whole place feel warm and welcoming. The Challenges A few dishes needed seasoning to reach their full potential. It would also help to have a couple of simple kid options, like plain cheese pizza or plain pasta. Kid Logistics Overall, very easy with kids. The relaxed pace and friendly staff made it comfortable. Would We Return Absolutely. Great value, great energy, and some really strong dishes. Final Thoughts Albertini Restaurant delivers a casual, authentic Italian meal with a lively local feel. Not perfect across every dish, but easily one of our most enjoyable meals in London. read more

Absolutely the best risotto I have had. I don't understand how none of the shellfish had any sand in them with perfect balance with the sauce, but it was magical. The appetizer was amazing as well. Tiramisu was great, but that risotto was among the best in the world! read more

Wonderful Italian restaurant. The staff didn't bat an eye to the fact that we arrived about 30 minutes before closing time on a weekday! They welcomed us in and got to the business of feeding us yummy all-round food. The rib-eye stake and risotto were outstanding! Highly recommend this place! We went back for more!!! read more

Food was scrumptious! Our attentive server was fast and efficient. Although we didn't have a reservation for dinner (arrived around 7pm Monday), we were seated right away and didn't feel rushed. Noise level was a bit loud, so not a place for a quiet intimate dinner. read more

We ordered the pasta with chicken and mushrooms. It may have been one of the best Italian dishes we've ever had. The sauce was delicious and not heavy. The portion was perfect to share, along with a salad. We hade the pana cota for desert , perfect size and not overly sweet. Wine prices are inexpensive. Next to St Pancras but tucked away on neighborhood side street out of the hustle of the trendy scene at Battle Bridge and Granary Square. Food is simply delicious and authentic. Seriously best Italian food in London. Friendly and helpful service. Prices very reasonable. It can get busy with the people "in the know" so I recommend reservations. read more

Yoooo!! My British mates?!! What's this little gem of an Italian spot you've got going on here!! And Thank you my fellow English Yelpers for your feedback because Albertini's did NOT disappoint!! I normally trust in our Yelp app and my good peeps advice on places and that's especially true whilst traveling abroad - and yet again another great dining experience. Walked up on a Monday night and the place was full of peeps enjoying good conversations over a great meal outside. We opted to sit inside and were seated right away. Libations, starters, and dinner were ordered rather quickly. Good stuff first - they have a decent selection of red and white wines so I go with a red from Chile - Not too shabby...three glasses later and I'm Ubering back to the hotel, but I digress... The garlic pizza with muzzarel (spelled hyphonetically correct) was Da Bomb! And the lasagne was quite exquisite. Dinner was great but lemme tell you about desert. They've got this coconut ice cream served in a coconut half shell that'll "make you sweat til you bleed. Is that dope enough, indeed. I paid the price I control the dice I'm more precise, to the point I'm nice...l" wait, wait...Again I digress...No they don't have karaoke...so this coconut ice cream - life changing. A charming Italian restaurant on Chalton Street near St. Pancras and the British Library. We visited twice during our stay. Both the Melanzane Albertini and the Parmagiana di Melanzane were delicious starters. They could easily be shared. The veal Scaloppine al Limone was some of the best veal I've ever had and the accompanying spinach with Parmesan was equally delicious. The wine list is fairly extensive. We tried a Negroamaro Vialleto from Puglia that was also delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. There is also outdoor seating. The restaurant is not large and we made reservations although I'm not sure they are require. My dinner companion and I would definitely go back if we were in the area. read more

Marvelous! I found this restaurant on Yelp and based on its reviews, I brought 15 Americans for dinner here on short notice and because we arrived by 5 p.m. they were able to accommodate us as walk ups without a delay. The food was marvelous. Everyone was extremely happy. From pizzas for the boys, pasta for the girls, to salmon, veal, and carbonara for the adults. Highly recommend! read more

We stopped in for a light meal around tea time on a day which featured a bank holiday and a bus strike. Getting around was a headache and we needed something to tide us over. After initially rejecting it as "probably too heavy", we came back as it was the most promising choice. I'm so glad we did! We ordered bruschetta and gnocchi and three plates to share. The bruschetta was perfect - cool, fresh tomatoes on fresh toast with just a touch of balsamic glaze. And the gnocchi was clearly fresh, not gooey, with just the right amount of Gorgonzola. The service was timely and very hospitable. It has a great little side-street, small restaurant ambience. The primary focus... the food! Aperol spritz was well mixed and tasted good. We also ordered what amounted to be a charcuterie board - meats, mozzarella, bread. We also ordered a garlic and cheese pizza - both as appetizers (See pictures). The pizza was THIN and had a subtle, not overpowering flavor. It wasn't too greasy, and with the meat and cheese board was a great way to start our meal. Unfortunately, I ordered the gnocchi with 4 cheese fondue and ate it before I was able to get a picture. Once again, the fondue was mellow, not overpowering in flavor. It tasted fresh and not like it was microwaved from a packet. The fondue didn't coagulate like some cheese sauces might. The gnocchi was firm but cooked through and had its own creamy texture once I started eating it. This hole-in-the-wall is hardly recognizable from 50ft down the street, but left a big impression. Absolutely a great find near Euston and St. Pancras stations. The restaurant is in an unassuming building on a side street very close to Euston Station. From the moment we entered, the genuine friendliness of the gentleman who greeted us, and then the demeanor of both our waitperson and our server impressed us. For my part, I ordered a tagliatelle pasta with truffles and handmade Italian sausage, a brilliant choice, as it turned out. So much so that the bartender, passing by our table stopped, beaming with pride, to mention that it was his favorite and that he "2 million percent" was sure I'd love it. This dish created a time-release explosion of subtle flavor which lingered for at least an hour and will remain in my memory for years to come, like the perfect squid ink risotto I had in Parma, Italy more than ten years ago. These are the dishes that make me long to return to Italy--just to gain (totally unneeded and otherwise unwanted) weight. My wife a "linguini a la mare". Subtle, so fresh you could smell the salt water and tasty, though perhaps not quite as distinctive. Absolutely a solid five stars, nonetheless. Prices we're extremely reasonable by London standards and, considering the exceptional quality, warrant special mention. Even in Atlanta, Georgia, if such food can be found--the linguini, probably; the truffles (generous quantity and absolutely fresh), almost impossible--the price per dish would be easily fifty percent to one hundred percent higher. As such, given the low key and unpretentious atmosphere, one really felt as if he were in a small town in Italy being served by the Italian family whose great grandparents had run the place for generations--almost. The rather mundane and even slightly depressing street scene outside gives it away as being a big city, no--a London establishment. This would in no way ever put me off from returning, however, though I'd be more likely to choose the pleasant interior seating. Absolutely recommended if anywhere within thirty minutes of the place. My girlfriends and I went for lunch, and absolutely loved it. We shared a starter of baked aubergine, which was very tasty. I then had the spaghetti with prawns for main, which was flavourful and fresh. I did feel that the pasta was slightly over cooked, but I loved it nonetheless. We walked into this restaurant on our last night in London, hoping we'd be able to get some good Italian food in a decent amount of time. It was busy (everyone working in the place was HUSTLING!), so I figured our chances for a place were slim... ...boy, was I (pleasantly) WRONG. We were seated within a few minutes, as the servers kept the tables moving without rushing anyone. Our wine was DELICIOUS, perfect for the meal that followed. My husband had the seafood risotto, and I had the lasagna. One thing I was concerned about was that the portions would be too large, which posed a problem for us since we were flying back home the next morning. His risotto had the perfect balance of seafood to risotto, with flavor in every bite. Furthermore the portion size was just right for him, he ate up every last morsel! I'm normally not one for a meat-heavy dish, but in my tired stupor I dug into a still-sizzling beef lasagna. OHMY TASTEBUDS. In other lasagna-imposters, the chewy meat and prevalence of ricotta are generally the two main flavors I get. Here...it was pure savory goodness. The creamy bechamel sauce + the homemade beef ragout made for just the hearty dish I needed. Obviously I finished it ALL. We had the smallest amount of room left in our bellies, so we had to order dessert. The decision was cemented when we saw the desserts brought out to the table next to ours. Tiramisu for me -creamy, bold flavor of coffee with a hint of chocolate, and just the right textures. I'm STILL thinking about it. Panna cota for the husband - it was the first time he had tried the dessert ever, and let's just say he was scraping the plate. All in all... Go. Eat. HERE. I actually toyed with the idea of eating all of my dinners here while in London. It is quite perplexing to understand how Albertini can serve such delicious food at such reasonable (for London) prices. My mussels were perfectly cooked, and I also had a pasta dish that was scrumptious. I sat outside at a little table, which was very nice (aside from the weirdos that seem to populate this corner of town, given proximity to St. Pancras). Nevertheless I would absolutely go back, in a heartbeat, for the excellent food. read more

Visited this rustic Italian restaurant on the last day of my London vacation. While the environment is really nice, and the wine well selected, the food was a bit lackluster. My veggie pasta didn't quite have the grilled vegetable taste that was advertised on the menu, while the sweetie's pasta, which was supposed to have a light bechamel sauce, definitely needed salt and a little something else to elevate it. That all said, the pizza is looking really good! We should have gotten those as most everyone else around this did, and devoured their selections. Better than chain restaurants nearby, I would revisit and do that, but it probably wouldn't be my first choice. read more

I give Albertini five stars, not because it's Nirvana for restaurants but because it's a nice little place somewhat off the beaten path which has really good Italian dishes at a very reasonable price and very friendly service. We went on a Friday night, and it was fairly busy. One table was available so we snapped it up. I had lasagne for 9 £, and it was yummy. Solid portion too. My wife had a sirloin, medium rare, and it was done perfectly. Our server was incredibly friendly, just a nice guy who whirled around the place, providing timely service with a smile. What can I say? I love little unassuming places like this that get the job done and don't charge an arm and a leg. So get a grip guy who doesn't like how others review. read more
