What a lovely spot to stumble upon! I went looking for gluten free pasta and found it here easily. I was seated right away and was able to connect to their WiFi, which worked great. They had a lunch special when I went and it was very well priced. I got the caprese as my salad and the pistachio pasta as my main, with gluten free pasta. The gluten free was amazing! Really good texture and the pistachio cream was just perfect. They gave me a lot of Parmesan, which made the dish just perfect. They have gluten free pizza too which I hope to try someday. Lunch menu is a great deal but unfortunately I didn't think the food was very good. For £14 including service you get two courses. The menu has three options for apps and I think seven for mains (3 pizzas and the rest are pastas). I opted for the caprese and the lasagna al Forno. The caprese was nice enough although non traditional with olives and sun dried tomatoes included. I thought the olive oil and balsamic could have been better quality and the mozzarella was weirdly cold, almost like it had been frozen and thawed. The lasagna was lacking in flavor although the pasta was cooked well. It was a good sized portion as well. Service was quick but not rushed. The place is bigger than it looks from the outside. Washrooms were okay although located downstairs in kinda a dodgy setting. read more

The presentation and ambience of Rocca are worthy of at least 4 stars. I struggled with rating this place as nothing was bad but nothing was spectacular either. The food was fresh, our server was good but it was lacking one key ingredient: flavor. We had such high hopes for this place with the nearly perfect Yelp reviews across the board so we were a tad disappointed when our pasta dishes both lacked flavor. With some fine-tuning this could easily be changed. Some of the good: the calamari was excellent. Flavor was on point with a light breading and seasoning and meaty calamari pieces. We also shared a bottle of red wine. Prices were reasonable and not inflated which is common in nicer establishments. My husband ordered the tortellini with lobster, prawns, and courgettes (zucchini). It was served with a butter sage and caper sauce. I had the ravioli burrata which was filled with mushrooms and burrata cheese in a butter and parmesan sauce. Nice plating, portion size, and presentation. Again everything was fresh but it was sadly lackluster. We passed on dessert and left full but a tad disappointed. With a few tweaks the meals we had could be phenomenal instead of mediocre. read more

We were immediately seated. At each table was an Italian wine with descriptions of the location of where it was made and pairing suggestions. Loved it! We had the Ossobuco Ravioli and the special which was similar to a clam linguini dubbed with white crab. The Goat Cheese and Caramelized onion Crostino was to die for! Everything was delicious. A nice Italian restaurant near South Kensington station. It's a lot bigger on the inside than it looks. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is good too. Arancini was slightly under seasoned, but very crunchy and nice. The selection of bread was really good. The pasta with pesto sauce was OK. It was good, but I'd prefer a bit punchier seasoning. But then, I am picky when it comes to pesto. For a proper sit-in restaurant, the price tag is reasonable. I would happily go back and try other dishes. read more

We were staying in South Kensington for five nights. We were looking for a good Italian dinner one night and because of the good recommendation on Yelp we went to Rocca, which was just several blocks from where we were staying. We're so glad we did. Our waitress was Christine and she was top-notch in her service and attention. All of the staff were friendly and made for a very fun and lively place to have dinner. Christine made a spot on recommendation for wine for us along with several choices for dinner. We had a calamari appetizer that was very good. We also had salads one being the House salad, and the other the Rocket salad, which is made with just arugula and Parmesan cheese. Both of those were very fresh and good-portioned. For dinner we ordered fettuccine with seafood, salmon with fettuccine, grilled Seabass and cannelloni. We also got two desserts to share. A chocolate gelato and a pecan cheesecake. Both were well portioned and delicious. We were then served either complementary Limoncello or amaretto. Very nice touch. We had a very enjoyable time here for dinner with the food, reasonable prices and a very fun and accommodating staff. We enjoyed it so much. We came back a second night for pizza and salad salads that was also excellent. read more

Located near South Kensington, the Victoria & Albert Museum, and the Natural History Museum, this is a great little Italian spot just off the beaten path. We walked in for lunch and they seated us on their "patio" which is their front door vestibule area. In hindsight, it was a little cold for that, but it was perfect once they closed the main doors. Our waiter was great, checking in on us often, and answering all of our questions about the menu. I had the prosciutto pizza and a glass of rosé. We also ordered the bread for the table, which was great. My pizza was alright, but a little on the soft side for me. Overall, it satisfied my craving for pizza, but didn't go above and beyond for me, food-wise. read more

Whenever I'm in London ... particularly South Kensington ... I usually make it a point to go to Bella Italia for a dinner. Well, this particular night I took a look at Yelp and was happy to find Rocca, practically across the street. Always up for variety, I took the extra few steps across the street and entered. I was seated quickly up front (nice!) and immediately searched the menu to see if they had Tagliatelle Bolognese like I would typically get at Bella Italia. Yep! :-D So I put in an order with a glass of Chianti (server's choice). In a word: WOW! Delish was this dish! The pasta was cooked perfectly al denté, and the sauce stuck to every last noodle. Rocca presents a very classic rendition of homestyle Italian cuisine. The restaurant is located in South Kensington just minutes away from the tube station. This area of London is absolutely stunning and Rocca is no exception. After being ignored for 15 minutes by a nearby competitor, I left and walked down the street to Rocca. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted with bright smiles and seated immediately. A complete 360 of what I had just experienced only minutes prior. The interior is truly exquisite. Everything from the soft brick walls to the trendy lighting was just so attractive. It's a fancy presentation with a lighthearted atmosphere. I felt comfortable from the moment that I sat down. I'd say date night ambience for sure but suitable for just about anyone. They've got an extensive wine list and a great looking dinner menu with plenty of great options to choose from. I went the simple route and ordered a Margherita pizza along with a glass of Chianti. The wine was wonderful and my waiter actually let me taste a few of the wines before deciding on which one that I wanted. The Margherita pizza was simple but delicious. Everything about this pizza was executed extremely well. The crust was a soft bake but was charred almost perfectly along the edges, and the mozzarella was melted in the mix of the fresh tomato sauce. All of the ingredients tasted extremely fresh and the pizza radiated with the fragrant smell of fresh basil. This was a thinner style crust but it was still filling. I cleaned my plate. Twice Oh yes, I had to have dessert! Couldn't leave there without indulging in some delicious sweets. My waiter informed me their tiramisu was their most popular dessert. He hit the nail on the head with that one. This tiramisu was some of the best that I've had at any restaurant. It was beautifully plated, delicately placed together, and super tender to the touch. It was smooth and creamy but still held its' composure as I slowly sliced through it with my fork. It was fluffy. Sweet. Mildy caffeinated. Melted right on my tonue. It. was. PERFECT. You must end your meal with a slice of this tiramisu. Negotiations are out of the question at this point. Just do as I say and thank me later. I know that you will because it's just that damn good. I rarely ever order dessert wine at a restaurant, but for some reason I decided to do so at Rocca. I had their "Recioto della valpolicella tesauro" which is basically a very popular Italian dessert wine. It wasn't deathly sweet like many of the dessert wines that I've had in the states. For this reason alone, I was truly able to enjoy it. It had a unique taste that I really liked. Guess I'll have to start experimenting more with Italian dessert wines now. Service was amazing. The workers here were some of the nicest people that I met while in London. They all just seemed so happy to be there and that was really refreshing to see. One of the best parts about dining at Rocca is that everything here is decently priced. You would think that a place of this caliber would cost an arm and a leg, but I was so excited to enjoy a high quality meal at an affordable price (especially since the dollar is already worth less than the pound). All in all, I had an incredible experience. I'm so glad that I left that other restaurant to come here before Rocca ended up being one of my favorite dining experiences while visiting London. read more

I'm tardy in writing this review because my husband and I discovered Rocca during the Christmas season while walking around the South Kensington neighborhood looking for a place for dinner. We walked in from the cold with no reservation but they found a place for us in their busy and holiday decorated main room. During our one week London visit, we ate here a total of three times -- that's how much we loved it. Rocca is a neighborhood Italian restaurant that reminded me of the American TV series "Cheers" because of how quickly we felt like regulars. The menu has pasta and pizza choices, but I twice fell for their grilled marinated whole baby chicken (fabulous!) and my husband loved their whole grilled branzino. One of our favorite house wines was a delicious and affordable red from Puglia, the salads and starters like salmon salad or grilled prawns could become a whole meal, and their dessert choices include several classic Italian favorites. If you're near the South Kensington tube station at dinner time and are worn out from a day of business or tourism, Rocca is a delicious and friendly destination and highly recommended. read more
