Oh my gosh this pasta was so good! We came here on a Sunday afternoon and it was busy but there were able to squeeze us in after about a 15 minute wait. The service was quick and the ambiance was cute and cozy. We got a few pasta dishes to share and the ravioli and pasta with sausage were flightless but everything was really good. The bread was good as well- will definitely be back!
Solid pasta but not unique flavors. - Like the parpadelle with ragu. - Bruschetta was excellent. Very affordable and delicious wine by the glass. The seats by the bar is a bit uncomfortable - too close to the bar and your legs are squeezed between the bags and coats hanging under the counter. Toward the latter part of lunch, they open the door wide and it was cold.
Such a gem in borough market! They don't take reservations so be mindful especially if you're a party of 2 that you will be on a waitlist. They have a larger table for 6 that is usually open so if you have a bigger group you may get seated quickly. That said this is a cozier spot with 2 floors. The food is worth the wait. The prices are very fair and reasonable for high quality pasta.
Michelin bib gourmand Italian restaurant in Borough Market. No reservations but they do have QR codes posted out front for a digital waitist. I recommend getting on their waitlist which will expedite getting a seat. Came at opening, with a couple others in front of us but was able to get seated in the first wave of the restaurant. Sat at kitchen bar counter and was able to see all the food being cooked, which I always enjoy. All the pasta is freshly made in house. You can see them cooking every noodle to order. Tiny kitchen but the team works smoothly in the space. Upbeat, chill atmosphere. Cacio e pepe - perhaps their most popular dish. Noodles cooked perfectly al dente and you can tell how handmade they are as they we rustic and imperfect. I did enjoy this dish a lot. Tagliarini with crab - lots of crab meat mixed into the noodles. Noodles were a very thin and cooked well, however, I don't know if i loved this choice of noodle for this dish or not. I didn't dislike it but I felt like I was getting clumps of noodle threads in every bite and the noodles were very long. Definitely worth a try. It's considered $ on michelin guide and the prices are affordable, especially compared to bay area pricing. Just go early to avoid long waits.
This is really a 4.5 star rating. Only thing I didn't really "like" was that the bar was NOT self seating. When I walked up there was 4 open seats and I still had to be put on the waiting list. Other than that. It was great REESE was so sweet and took great care of me. I ordered the crab pasta (tagliarini with Dorset crab chili and lemon) it didn't have enough spice for me but the flavor was good. Very causal atmosphere. I was able to sit at the bar too and watch the cooks make all the food from scratch including the pasta itself. And the pricing was more than fair. Would definitely recommend.
cacio e pepe was gorgeous. oh my goodness. service was quick and so friendly. ugh that pasta. i loved. smaller serving sizes but left without feeling sluggish and stuffed!
Best pasta ever! This is our second time. We have tried almost all of the pastas. Our favorite Pici de peppi, thick good noodles made fresh. Second favorite the classic parpadella ragu. Can't go wrong with any choice. Fresh ingredients, homemade pasta, made right I front of you. If you want the best Italian food come here. The drinks also very good, staff are great. Not a single complaint. We love it. If you have to wait, wait it's worth it.
First dinner in London was at Padella and it did not disappoint. After a long day of flying a little Italian live from Padella hit the spot. All the food was fresh the staff was friendly and helpful and we were seated overlooking the chefs so we got to watch them cook everything from scratch. It was a small space but intimate.
I had the radicato salad with mint and balsamic vinaigrette sprinkled with fresh flakes of Parmesan. Absolutely delicious. As a second course I had the pici pasta with cacio and Pepe. All of their pastas are freshly made. The pasta was excellent and the cacio and pepper sauce very good but a tad salty. The sauce consists of pecorino cheese and black pepper. Pecorino cheese tends to be a little salty. There is normally a long line to get in but I came after the lunch hour so it was not very crowded. Fast and pleasant service. UPDATE I was at a bookstore and saw the Padella cookbook. So I looked up the recipe for cacio and Pepe. Their version is not made with pecorino cheese (sheep's milk) but using Parmesan cheese (Cow's milk). The traditional recipe from Rome is normally made with mainly Pecorino but some restaurants will add some Parmesan to cut the strong taste of sheep's milk.
10/10 pasta, tastes like it's straight from Italy! (I say that as someone who studied abroad there). I got the lemon and butter sage ravioli and it was so good. My friend and I went around 6pm on a Wednesday evening and it was pretty busy. The seating in the restaurant is quite tight and cramped, but it's cool because you can see the chefs making your food right in front of you. I'd definitely come here again, but probably at a less peak time!
I want to fly back to London just for this pasta. If you're looking for the perfect, moody and cozy place for dinner or a date with fresh food in the heart of Borough Market, look no further. The bruschetta was out of this world, I want to know how these tomatoes were grown!! The pasta was perfectly al dente and we couldn't even get a pic of our tiramisu it was too good to wait. Our service was attentive and gave great recommendations too!
Ordered both the papardelle with ragu and the fettucine with cobble lane cured anduja. The fettucine was my favorite pasta I've ever had!! Just an incredible restaurant experience. Service was also so kind and attentive.
Padella was recommended by several friends prior to our London trip, so we made it a priority to go... When we stopped by on a Thursday mid-day, the wait wasn't too bad -- about 30 minutes for our party of four. We walked around the Borough Market a bit (there is plenty to see and taste there) and were seated downstairs in a timely manner. Our server was Italian and super kind despite how slammed the restaurant was. Pretty sure that is the norm there! We started with fresh sourdough and olive oil, burrata and mixed olives... all of these apps were solid! For entrees, we shared the tagliarini with crab, chili and lemon, pumpkin ravioli, and a simple spaghetti with butter. I was shocked that my kids didn't love their spaghetti, but my husband and I enjoyed the rest of the food... If you're seeking authentic Italian in a casual environment that is moderately priced, put your name in at Padella and enjoy. Just don't eat too many snacks at the market while you wait ;)
Burrata ; Sourdough with olive oil was fresh, creamy, and delicious. * The pesto linguini and lemon ravioli were outstanding--the lemon ravioli was so good we reordered it! The soft cheese with citrus zest melted in our mouths. * Kids loved the fresh tomato sauce spaghetti. * Tiramisu was delicious, kids loved the lemon sorbet and Lemoni drink was refreshing, and the macchiato excellent. A beautiful Italian spot with some good vegetarian options. Highly recommend if you're in the borough! read more

I went to padella for dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening and luckily got a table for 2 pretty quickly! The restaurant is super cute and wasn't too noisy, making it a great place to catch up with a friend. We ordered three dishes: the beef carpaccio, cacio & pepe, and the tagliarini with Dorset crab. The cacio & pepe was my favorite by far. The portion felt right and the flavour was amazing. Sometimes it's the simplest dishes that are the best! The tagliarini was amazing as well, the flavours were really balanced. I liked the beef carpaccio but it only comes with 5 slices of beef and considering that it was a £14 dish, we didn't really think it was worth it. It was yummy though! Would definitely come back for the cacio & pepe alone. read more
Overall: 4 stars Michelin rated no-thrill pasta shop with bar seating only and very lowkey options, yet impressive kitchen skill to back it up without all the extra fluff. I was enthused by their Pappardelle Ragu that had very wide cut pasta obviously, but it was also thin and cooked well so it was very pleasant on the palette unlike most pappardelles. The ragu had a delicious meatiness to it that was the perfect sauce pairing with the pasta folds. Food was beyond amazing, the staff are so welcoming and fun to chat with, the outdoor patio seating is the way to go that way you can see all the street life as you enjoy your food! Get the pici Cacio e pepe it was beyond flavorful read more

Oh my! Padella has me dreaming about pasta everyday!! We loved it so much we returned before leaving London during our vacations. On our first visit we sat at the bar and had the opportunity to see how coordinated and incredible busy their kitchen is! read more
This showed up in a list of must places to try when in London. We walked over and gave it a try. 3/5 Cacio e Pepe - was good but I thought it tasted a bit off 2/5 - Tagliarini with crab - this tasted very weird. The pasta was too thin for our liking and wayyy too lemony So many great reviews. Guess I'm just basic? read more

Stopped at Padella to try to Pici cacio & pepe. There was already a line out the door even at 4:45pm to try their delicious food. Padella offers indoor and outdoor seating with heaters to keep you warm. The Pici cacio & pepe was an 12/10. The service was exceptional. The staff were very friendly and was very helpful with wine recommendations. Would recommend Padella 1000%. read more

This was amazing all around. Short of it, the pasta is outstanding because it's not drowning in sauce. The light olive oil and spices give it a bold flavor while allowing you to really enjoy the pasta they're making on-site. If you have room, the tiramisu is light and fluffy and probably the best I've ever had. The pasta is probably top 3-4 and I pasta very often. Servers were passionate and funny, and you get in and out in record time. I wish I didn't need to fly 10 hours for pasta this good. Londoners are so lucky to have Padella. read more
The last time I was here was 2019 & this place still has great quality pasta. They always has a line so make sure to get on the queue before the restaurant opens via the QR code. Wait is usually 40 min or so. Food is freshly made, service is great, & the ambiance is a cool 2 story spot next to borough market. The pici cacio e Pepe was a bit too aldente for me but nonetheless delicious. Will definitely be back! read more
Quality/Quantity - Wow, what a GREAT find; probably one of our best meals in London! Small simple menu, made fresh. Small and simple both for foods and drinks, see pictures of the menu. Pappardelle - I am a spaghetti kind of person, but my recent go to pasta has been pappardelle. I have been getting this very frequently, especially when I know it is made in house. Fettuccine with Cobble Lane Cured Nudja, Mascarpone & Lemon - Don't get me wrong, I really liked my dish, but I wish I had ordered this one. It had just the right amount of "kick," a slight spice to it. The sauce was amazing. Unfortunately, they only had one beer on tap, the Helles Lager. The good news was that it complimented my dish perfectly. Light and refreshing. Atmosphere - Very small two floor local restaurant. Normally a long wait, but we were lucky enough to get the last two seats in the downstairs bar. Indoor/outdoor dining. Open 7 days a week, see their website or Yelp for specific hours. Both differ slightly. Borough Market is also a very cool place to hang out. Service - Okay, they are crazy busy, so don't expect personalized service. The good thing was that we were not in a rush. Price - 35 pounds + tip; good price for what we got. Fine dining quality pasta in a fast casual atmosphere. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success with your two locations, three restaurants. We will be sure to come back and visit on our next London trip. read more

Amazing infinity. Looking for authentic made from scratch pasta outside of Italy. Padella of London is the place to eat. Located at the foot of borough market this place is a must visit and continuously full to capacity. I ate the pappardelle pasta while my wife had the ravioli. The restaurant prepares fresh pasta on a daily basis which they boil, season and cook it just right for your tasting. We topped off our meal with fresh tiramisu eating it in stride to savor every bite. Valentina made us feel welcome just like family. When in town visit early and often to try different dishes. I dined here solo and was blown away. The Tagliarini With Dried Chilli, Garlic & Pangrattato was unbelievably good. I ordered it after asking my waiter for his favorite dish. He very kindly helped me choose and I adored the meal. I would go back 1000x. read more
Great value for quality Italian food in London. This was one of my favorite meals on my trip to London. It's right by the borough market. You can add your name to the queue and they'll text you when your table is ready (so you don't have to wait around). We had the pappardelle and cacio e pepe. The pastas were amazing! They make it out in the front so you know they're fresh. The seats aren't the most comfortable but the place always gets pretty busy. The service was pretty good here. I'll definitely come back and try some other dishes because the meal was excellent. read more
My favorite meal in London, I would recommend it again and again! Opens weekdays at 11:30am so I showed up around 11:20am and put our name on the list via QR code. Table was ready but I was browsing the market so got back around 11:45am-11:50am. Wow, the place was so packed already! The ground/top floor seemed cool with bar seating where you can watch them make the pasta. We were sat downstairs at the bar where the bartenders are. The bar stools are goddamn uncomfortable. Worst part of the experience. We shared 2 dishes: -PAPARDELLE WITH 8 HOURS BEEF RAGU. The pasta noodles were so perfect but I wasn't in love with the meat. It wasn't bad though. - TAGLIARINI WITH CRAB (LOBSTER?) I forget which one it was. Gosh the pasta noodles were so perfect on this one too and I loved the crab and all the spices blended together. A+ Glad I got to try both as they were pretty different from each other, but both oh so good. read more
Pasta was great but I don't get what's the hype? We tried to line up for it twice but the first time we were here, we had to wait 2 hours to get a table so we gave up. To be fair, the restaurant is very small with not a lot of tables but man even if we are willing to have a drink somewhere else, it's still 2 hours so we decided to not stay and wait. The second time we tried was only half an hour so it's alright. One piece of advice is that come on odd times like 2pm when people are not trying to get a table for lunch. They are known for cheap pasta but I paid £15 each for the pasta we ordered and it wasn't a big portion so idk what cheap is to other people. Overall it's quite tasty but frankly there're many pasta places that has less wait time and do pasta just as good if not better read more
We loved our visit to Padella. In a hectic Borough Market we were grateful for a tiny two-top table in the crammed basement of Padella. The online waitlist worked flawlessly and we were seated as soon as our time slot came up. Our server was attentive, enthusiastic, and I believe she genuinely wanted to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. The food was fantastic! Simple, balanced, comforting flavors with freshly prepared pasta. The prices were reasonable especially considering the quality of the food. I felt the whole experience was devoid of pretense - nothing was trying to be fancy, it was just damn good food. I had the cacio e pepe and my wife had the pasta bolognese. Each dish was spot on what we were hoping for. read more
I've been to both the Padella in Shoreditch and the one in Borough Market, and I have to say that I found both a bit disappointing. The price is right for sure - you'd be hard pressed to find a dish on the menu for much more than £15, and the drinks are also very reasonable. I enjoyed their martini (£8) and they have cheap wines by the glass too. It's notorious for the waits but I haven't found it difficult to get a table when using the Dojo app. I didn't have to wait for any longer than 20-30 minutes or so and it makes it easy to come back when your table is ready. The pasta is fine but there are so many good Italian spots in London that it's hard to compete. Their rocket salad was boring and was underdressed, and the pici Cacio E Pepe was honestly just so chewy and heavy. Service was nice and the place itself is buzzy and young, but there are better spots to go for pasta. read more

Let me tell you about some of the best pasta I've ever had (and to be clear, I've been to Italy plenty of times). I can't stop thinking about the tender, made from scratch paparadelle noodles served up here. The eight hour tender beef that was served with was also delicious but the pasta was the true star of the show. My partner thoroughly enjoyed his cacio e Pepe and we kicked things off with their fresh, oozing, made in house burrata and olive oil with crusty bread. I'll be thinking about this meal for years to come. As for snagging a seat here- a few words of wisdom: they do not offer reservations but the do allow you to join the queue via a QR code. Our wait ended up being an hour and a half so we killed sometime at a neighboring business for drinks. The staff was very attentive and friendly. They pack the space in with seating found in the back as well as in the cozy basement. Non appetit, dear reader. Eat some extra paparadelle for me, wouldya? read more
Queued up here just before it opened so we were able to be seated at the window right away. After my visit to Italy, I realized that Pici is my favorite type of pasta but I struggle to find it in many restaurants in the US or UK. I was excited to see it on the menu here so I had to try it. The prices were quite steep and the portions quite small, but the food was tasty. I'm glad I was able to try it, but I would not come back for this price. read more
Another frequent London recommendation that was totally worth the hype!! As a solo diner I only had to wait ~15 mins for a bar seat, and walked around Borough market as I waited. What a cool vibe at the bar as you get to watch your food being made right in front of you!! Fresh pasta is always a win for me. I ordered the pesto and I kinda wish I had gotten a different sauce as this was good but a little boring after a few bites. But the pasta itself was fantastic, as was everything else I had. A little pricey but I'd pay again for that view of the kitchen! Highly recommend stopping by before a show at the Globe if you can swing it! read more
