    Favourites Sharing Board

Walked into Zizzi's on a rainy Saturday night. The place was very busy but we were able to be seated within 10 minutes. The food was so good! As a party of 2, we opted to split the Favourites Board and grab a couple of drinks. Plenty of food for two people.

The food was absolutely wonderful loved the service as-well. If this is your first time visiting London I definitely recommend they treated my group with such kindness and patience!! The environment was very clean and they were pretty quick with our orders!! Authentic food done write!!

The food is good but takes a long time to appear. Sunday night 8:15, Table of 3, finished 10:15, £71. Very hot inside (it was 18 degrees outside), chairs uncomfortable, no service or water offered for 15 minutes. Recommend you order everything right away and if getting an appetizer ask them not to hold the main course. The waiter was apologetic and nice enough but they seem to be in the habit of apologizing here. The kitchen was definitely overworked (I could hear the cooks shouting in frustration) and were rushing out some nice wood fired pizzas undercooked (still white). Other food passing by looked good. The baked pasta with pork meatballs was good. The pasta with venison ragu was tasty but had barely any meat. The pasta noodles were slightly overcooked and not very hot. I thought it was a kids meal. The bruschetta appetizer and cheesecake dessert were both amazing. Not sure where the problem lies with this business but it should be better for £. Maybe next time.

We pasta for our main entrees. Both were prepared fast and fresh. They were delicious but could have used more flavor. The service was good and the atmosphere was very nice!

Found this in the corner of Katherine docks! Beautiful place and very friendly staff. I opted for outdoor sitting in the cold night, the staff was polite to check on me twice that I was okay and not cold. The pizza primavera was good, the artichokes were too big for me to bite into making it a clumsy bite. The tiramisu was perfectly moist and good flavour, could've been a tad bit sweeter.

We were visiting from the U.S. and were thoroughly impressed with this restaurant. It was in a cute location with lots of seating and great views! The menu had many uniquely delicious options and the three course meal with a tipple was an awesome value.

The food was OK (we ordered some garlic & mozzarella bread and then four rustic pizzas). I added olives on mine but they were quite bitter so not my best idea. The service was friendly but sooooo slow. First we had to wait in line for a while even if there was plenty of empty tables inside (maybe everyone wanted to sit outside, I don't know). They were nice and arranged the tables so that we could sit with our friends and a baby. The waitress took our order quickly but that was it. At one point, we even wondered if our pizzas would arrive before the garlic bread... It took ages to get the garlic bread, then again waiting to get the pizzas. We initially wanted desserts but it was so late when we finished the pizzas that we ended up just asking for the bill... The food was good, the waitress was really nice but the service was very slow. It was a summer Tuesday night, the tables outside were busy but the tables inside were only half full...

It's also basically on my street and one of the few sit downs open on weekends! However, each of my visits yielded a variable experience, meaning the quality consistency is lacking which means I wouldn't recommend it to a good friend. Not a good thing when it comes to lesser known restaurants. My first time, I was drawn in by the golden lights radiating from the bar and the warehouse lighting which looks almost chic when paired with the exposed brick and glass embellishments. Although my boss and I were the only ones here, the staff paid little to no attention to us - no greeting or any mind paid to us until we physically walked over the bar, distracting the group chatting away in their huddle. The wine was on the pricier side. The second time I came, the place was brimming with city brokers having Thirsty Thursday. The prosecco was decent and we had a nice time. Until we got the bill for the 3 shots of tequila we had which totalled £48. So that's over 15 pounds for each shot...when we queried the bill, the staff explained that the quality of the tequila he poured us explained the cost, exasperated with our stupidity. We said we were not going to pay for that just because when asked what kind, we had probably said "whatever" or "doesn't matter". Doesn't that usually mean house stuff? The third time I had post-birthday party brunch here where I opted for the Italian breakfast which means eggs, soppresetta, sour dough with pate?, tomato, and tuscan sausage. My tastebuds were (to be fair) taking a beating due to the hangover but it was just mediocre at best. Plus the stuff on the sour dough was strange and unpleasant. Canto and I are neighbours and I don't give up on my neighbours.

So a big shout out to the old man (if indeed he has anything at all to do with the place) for continuing to do the simple things really well and not charge the earth for it. My mushroom soup bucks the trend by steadfastly refusing to be the creamy, comfy clagged up version but instead a thin but powerful broth choc full of a variety of dried mushroom and the added bonus of small pieces of ham. It's a rustic affair, bravely done and all the better for it. A refusal to fall into the prissy traps. Arancini and a side of roast new potatoes for my nibblish mood don't disappoint either. The arancini's crispy shell giving way to unctuous insides and the potatoes perfectly crunchy and salty and rosemar-y. Again, simple stuff done very well. The arancini and the potatoes came to about £8. I'd rate that a bargain. Carluccio's wherever you go always feels bright and airy and modern. This one has the added advantage of being on Spittalfields so you can watch the groovy wordbenders whizz by on their hover boards and scooters playing spot the person without funky facial hair. Service is professional and smiley. I know it's a chain and that's a dirty word. I know the food was probably made somewhere in warehouse in Hemel Hempstead. Unless memory deceives me, they've re-fitted this branch since my last visit, replacing the awful hard chairs with more comfortable ones and re-jigging the lighting and layout. Atmosphere's a bit cosier. The menu has changed somewhat, I tried the duck pappardelle labelled "new". As expected it was very decent, generous portion, but not mind-blowing. One thing I do love here is the coffee, I always get a second one to take away it's so good. I think they edge out the independent coffee shops in the area for flavour.

I had the sourdough w olive oil to start -- not a bad choice to whet the appetite, but the real move was to use it to mop up some of the sauce after finishing the pasta :) For my main I ordered the pappardelle with beef shin ragu -- so delicious. The pasta had a wonderful texture, perfectly chewy al dente, and the ragu sauce was rich and savoury without being too oily or heavy. I really liked how the flat pasta and the sourdough bread were able to carry the beef flavour so well. Price point was reasonable (and portion size ended up being quite large!). Would definitely recommend stopping by, and I'd love to come by to try some of their other pasta options.

With this backdrop in mind, you can see that Piccolino is set up to succeed. Thankfully, the place is alright. I've been here maybe five or six times (haven't paid yet!) and had a pretty good experience each time. Twice I came for a real, sit-down lunch. The food was great, flavorful, filling and attractive. Most dishes are somewhat expensive, starting around £15 and heading north (but who's counting!). There is a nice wine list and I've enjoyed some good bottles. The beer list is shit, with just the regular pale lagers on keg and one real ale on cask, which is usually in poor condition. I've also had nibbles of the bar food (chips, pizza, etc.) and it's pretty alright. Overall Piccolino is a nice place. The environment is very upscale and the wait staff is kind and efficient.
