Nice restaurant on the inside but disappointed with this location overall. The nduja pizza was tasty but there wasn't much nduja on it. The carbonara was a bit lacking in flavour compared to their newer version with the pancetta. We ordered folded garlic bread and they gave us one with cheese (which we didn't ask for). The service started out well but we definitely got forgotten about more than once. I had to ask the same man twice for the dessert menu and when we did order they didn't have the only thing we wanted. You should let people know when you're out of something, especially after forgetting about them. We went for the pistachio tart instead which wasn't good and we didn't finish it. The piece closest to the centre of the tart had more raspberries and tasted more like jam roly poly and the rest of the tart had no raspberries and was just bland and mushy with a soggy crust that tasted microwaved. I don't appreciate serve being added on when the service isn't very good for half the meal. read more

This place handled them very well! We had ordered the Tuscan chicken orzotto, lasagne, and fettuccine bolognese. We all enjoyed our food very much! The drink were also very nice. I ordered a strawberry sparkle and it was amazing! The atmosphere in this restaurant is very pleasant. It makes you feel at home and doesn't feel crowded. The service is amazing and they treated us with kindness and were not bothered or annoyed with our allergies. They were accommodating and made sure we were able to eat our food! It was our first night in London and this restaurant was close to where we were staying. We chose a table outside and other than a few smokers walking by we were pleased with the location. We started with an Aperol spritz. It had a slight grapefruit taste, but now I can say that I've had one. The bruschetta was a little spicier than what we are used to having, but it was good. Hubby chose the Linguine Bolognese but I wasn't sure what I wanted. Our server recommended the Penne al Manzo Piccante and I really liked it. A large and airy branch of this popular chain, conveniently close to Paddington station. They have a range of pizza, pasta, salads and oven baked dishes. On my visit, we had a goats cheese salad and lentil ragu spaghetti. Both were very decent; sharing a large bottle of mineral water, the bill came to £33 (including service charge). Service was friendly and reasonably swift, though with two staff covering what is a large space, we did have to work to catch their attention. But they were very obliging. A safe choice for a meal before travelling. Allow ten minutes to get to your platform - it's a good five minute walk to the far platforms. read more

Quite possibly one of the worst meals I've ever experienced. The pasta was overcooked to the point of disintegration and broke down to complete starchiness. The alleged bolognese sauce was flavorless and mealy. The starter Caesar salad had mushy (not crispy) croutons (a first for me) and absolutely drowning in flavorless dressing. The children's chicken tenders were straight out of the freezer. Even the children's starter veggies (celery, carrots, cucumbers) were embarrassingly limp. There's a reason the place was empty at prime time on a Saturday night. Wishing I done my homework beforehand. The service was fantastic! I am not from London and came in hoping to get dinner near my hotel. I tried one other Italian place that turned me away immediately because I didn't have a reservation. On the other hand, the manager of this restaurant welcomed me in, gave me lemonade to sample before dinner, and walked me through the menu. Outstanding service, great ambiance. The food was just a tad under seasoned. But the mushrooms were delightful - I give those a 5/5! Also the most popular merlot was perfect for my meal as well. Overall, excellent experience. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner while in London and had a great experience. First thing when we walked in the door we were greeted by Atilla (who soon basically became our best friend while dining at ASK) and he asked us if we had any food allergies (me being gluten free was very excited because he got me a GF menu!) We both ordered pasta dishes and they were very good. Also the dessert was awesome, it was a scoop of vanilla gelato on top of a chocolate cake that was all covered in a hard shell of chocolate and it melted when a hot toffee syrup was poured over it (all gluten free too!) Lovely place! Good service and great food. Next to paddington station so the outside can be a little loud occasionally but the little outdoor area was cute and enjoyable. I don't remember the names of the pasta we ordered but one was a fresh pesto pasta and the other was a ricotta and spinach ravioli (the name had sunflower in it). Both were delicious! And the portion was nice - I wasn't too full after eating but still satisfied. Left room for dessert :). I highly recommend the ricotta and spinach ravioli. It's probably one of the creamiest and tastiest pasta dishes I've had in several years (even outside of COVID!). I'm totally coming back for this dish. We also ordered drinks and both were nice. Didn't get a chance to try the pizza but another table had one and it looked nice - crispy edges that indicate it was cooked in a high heat oven. Will have to try it! The best part of this meal besides the ravioli...it's cheaper than pub fare without drinks. See you soon! read more

Ask Italian was a convenient and reliable spot for my family to grab dinner when we first arrived in London and were too tired to look too far for food. The interior is sleek and modern, the dishes are served on cute plates, and the staff was really friendly and attentive. It gets pretty popular during dinner, and I noticed that many parties had reservations booked ahead of time. I usually don't crave Italian food that much because of how heavy it can be, but Ask Italian offers really light Italian food with great flavor. I was most pleasantly surprised by the garlic bread, which was more of a flatbread and had amazing crunch and flavor. The pizza was also great; it had a super-thin crispy crust and was topped with a generous amount of mushrooms, spinach, and chicken. Considering the service and quality of the food, this location of Ask Italian barely felt like a chain restaurant, and I'm curious if other locations in London have the same level of quality. Overall, Ask Italian is a pretty good bet for a meal in Paddington, and I'd recommend it if you're in the area. read more

This is my second time here, the first time I was here with my friend it was all good. Good food and good service. The second time which was not too long ago was with my sister. The service was not quite the same, they did not serve us limencello like I could see they served other guest upon arrival ( I received this last time) and I could however see that other guests got this service. Honestly it was not a big deal, it´s a shot of limencello, but I dont see why the difference in how they treat their customers. When my sister ordered red wine, but got served white wine by the server. She pointed this out that she ordered red. He said to her: no, she ordered white and said that she was mistaken. She did want to make a big deal out of this so she said it was fine. Right after he left she checked the menu on her phone to see that she did not mispronounce and it was red she ordered and not white. And she was right she did not make a wrong order. But she already said it was fine, when he said she was mistaken, so she did want to bother again, even though it was a bit of annoying. When the food came we wanted to share the food, and we ordered more than 3 plates. So we wanted the waiter to bring us two more small plates to eat off. So the table for two ended up a little short of space. Instead of making an effort to place things around to make space for everything, or offering us a bigger table, she just shock her shoulders and placed the food messed together so it did not fall off the table. After this the waiter left, we ended up just organizing the plates around ourselves, so we could enjoy our meal. Honestly the food was very good, but the unpleasant service from the waiters did ruined our experience in total, compared to last time. read more

We were greeted very nicely, but also advised that the kitchen was very behind and there could be a large delay in receiving our order. Since we were a group of 8 we figured we would give it a try, have some drinks and talk while waiting. It turned out to me great food, didn't seem too long for the food to start arriving(although we weren't watching the clock), and before we knew it we had spent at least 2 hours there with no concerns. Can't say that service is stellar even if you ASK .... i like the flatbread long (rectangular) pizzas. Tasty, and well baked with a thin crust and sufficent amount of flavour on top. It's nice to have it around the corner from where I live, so will probably prove very helpful in take-away. The place is very airy and clean, but doesn't evoke an intimate atmosphere. The place is big and nicely decorated. The food was only ok because unfortunately our two entrees were a little bland, almost as if the chef didn't use salt or pepper. We had Pollo Milanese and Risotto. The risotto had some flavor (white wine) but other than that it tasted like it was missing flavor. It is a nice establishment, maybe we were unlucky and our two entrees were a miss but we still give it four stars because our three children were treated well and their food was good. They were served three courses, guess this is standard for any kid who eats there, carrots & cucumber with sliced garlic pita with a dipping sauce as an app, pizza as the entree, and ice cream for dessert. After a long overseas flight and checking into our accommodations, my little family and I were starving and ASK looked like a wonderful restaurant to have dinner. The outdoor seating area was full and very chic; the inside had very lovely decor and colors......we were seated by a friendly host and that's where it started to go downhill..... The waiter was a little slow in getting to us. During that time, I noticed how LOUD it was in the restaurant and not because it was full, but because of the high ceilings. I noted the other staff milling around and it seemed like the cooks in the open kitchen were busy enough but I didn't really see food going out. When our waiter finally did come to take our order, he apologized for not coming sooner (good) and took our order quickly and efficiently. The entrees my husband and I had were good, but not stunning. The kid's menu for 6.50 GBP had a starter, entree and dessert....all well and good, but her entree didn't come until well after my husband and I had ours. I asked our host (who served our food....I guess our waiter was on a break....I could see him in the back corner) when her pizza was coming, implying that we wanted it now and his reply was, "Yes. Of course, it will come after the salad." 2nd waitress came by later after we finished our meal and I inquired again. She offered a free coffee because the pizza wasn't ready......(huh, even after I told the host?). When we finally got it, we took it as takeaway. When we got it home, we found it was burnt. 1 star quality food and general service from the staff but the manager gave us free coffee and a good discount after hearing what a disaster our meal was so leaving 2. The service here up until the very end was horrible. We weren't given this lemonade shot thingy at the beginning unlike all of the other guests who arrived after us. The waiter didn't write down any of our order and as a result we were given the wrong food by two girls who seemed scared to do their jobs. For one of the dishes we ordered the lamb pizza, but when they brought out our food and asked "who ordered the beef pizza?" We said "no-one we ordered lamb?" Instead of fixing the mistake they just put it down anyways and said "lamb yes." When we showed the manager, he confirmed it was in fact beef. The pasta I ordered was labeled as the most popular on the menu but it was flavorless and bland. On top of that, I saw it was ready 10 minutes before the pizza was done, and as a result it was almost cold when I started eating. I've worked in restaurants and Italian meat is often salty but this was ridiculous and the spinach was soggy and gross. The coffee is good. But that's all. read more

Went here on a recent trip to London for my 21st. I had a voucher I'd printed that got us 2 for 1 mains. The restaurant was nicely decorated, although tables were quite close together in my opinion. We shared a starter of garlic mushrooms which were really nice, they had a lot of flavour to them and we also had some olives. After that I had a 4 cheese pizza which I loved and my boyfriend had a goats cheese calzone which was also very nice. Only problem after that was that there didn't seem to be many staff around as it took ages to get the bill. However I'd recommend it and would go back again, wish there was one in Edinburgh! read more
