Three of us are there tonight - three starters, three pastas and a bottle of their cheapest bottle of red (because we actually really like montepulciano d'abruzzo) and our bill was under £100. Not only was the value good, the food was consistently outstanding. Not a bad bite to be had. The tortelloni were amazing, and my friends loved their pumpkin ravioli and the pasta with spinach. I love it. They only do walk-ins but if you have to wait, they give you discount vouchers downstairs for cocktail while you wait. I feel like I always get a table on Sunday early afternoon but good luck! Pastas are very yummy and great portion with good price. I think they change it up sometimes but I love the pork shoulder tortelloni and tiger prawn linguine. Also love their prawn tartare as i don't see it often in many restaurants! After walking by this restaurant night after night and seeing the happy looking crowds inside, we decided that we had to give it a try. We arrived soon after opening and there was already a crowd inside. We were greeted by the host and asked if we minded a community table, which we didn't. We were seated at the end of a six-top with a chair on the end. He told us that we could use that seat to stash our jackets. Soon after, water was offered, we opted for sparkling. Menus were presented and our server came and introduced himself. Our receipt says his name is Asier. Asier asked if we had any questions and we had pretty much already decided what we wanted. Burrata - 4 - plain, just some olive oil and black pepper but fresh and good. Artichoke Flower - 3 - it was an interesting looking presentation. I forget what the sauce was. Overall, it was okay but not something we would order again. Tortelloni - 3 - six large dumplings served with Basil and Cheese. Spaghetti - 3 - I think we should have ordered something with a red sauce. Sorbetto - 4 - two scoops in a small bowl. The meal was okay overall but nothing special. I don't understand why the restaurant appeared to be so busy. The only thing that we could think of is that they have a full bar, and most people did appear to be imbibing. We were not and that might have been the problem. Shortly after we were seated, another couple was seated next to us. While trying not to eavesdrop, it was difficult to completely ignore their body language and comments they made about their meal. They were not at all happy. It turns out that they were not a couple but a pair of students attending the same university who had decided to go out and have a meal together. I've never been a poor college student, but I can imagine their frustration. The first mistake they made was that they each ordered the bruschetta as an appetizer. When it arrived, they each ate one piece of the two pieces that they had been presented and left the rest. When his entree arrived, he picked at it while mumbling. She offered some of her entree to him and he picked at it a bit. We started chatting with them and they confirmed their disappointment. We had had a fantastic Italian dinner the night before and the restaurant was nearby. Their tiramisu was like none that I had ever had before. I suggested that they follow us and we would point it out to them. At the very least, they could cap their evening with a dessert that was worth their time and money. We left them as they walked in the that restaurant. Service was decent but I think either the host or the server should have caught that our neighbors were not happy and try to help them find satisfaction. read more

Fantastic, freshly made pasta, promptly served. Staff are very friendly, helpful, and will advise with regards to any potential allergens. The room itself is small, very cramped and extremely loud. Many tables are bench seats, with multiple couples/groups sat alongside each other on a long table. This can make it difficult to have a slow, relaxing conversation, but does bode for a fun evening if you're out to enjoy great quality food. Some pasta dishes cater for a much smaller appetite than others. We particularly noted that the ravioli plating was far less than the gigli or linguine. My daughter was still hungry after her plate of ravioli, whereas those of us that ordered a different pasta were fully satisfied. read more

The food here is excellent. I love the setup of this restaurant, where the focus is on a few starters plus the pasta of your choice which comes in a heaping portion. All the starters were great, but I especially loved the meatballs in sauce, and the tomatoes. The carbonara was very good but the shrimp linguini was even better. I wasn't as impressed with the food (spaghetti carbonara) or my wine (the most expensive glass of white wine- I can't recall the name), but it was a pleasant experience and very popular judging by the number of guests dining. I was eating alone and the hostess asked if I was okay sitting at the bar. I prefer sitting there even when dining with a friend so that was no problem for me. The bartender was extremely nice and she greets guests with a complimentary bottle of still or sparkling water. I found my pasta to be more firm or more al dente than I prefer. It was also very salty. Possibly that is the way it's supposed to taste -- it just wasn't my preference. read more

I had a lot of meals in London while visiting there for a vacation for 3 weeks. Flour and Grape was 100% the favorite. Pretty reasonably priced, great wine and a lovely ambience, we went here twice in two nights just to try the many different dishes that looked good. Truffle pasta is good but VERY truffly. Only get it if you really love truffle flavor. I also had the pork ravioli, which was amazing in a sage butter sauce. Dessert was affogato both nights for me. Nothing is better than coffee and ice cream. If you're in the Bermondsey area, definitely recommend popping in here for dinner if you can get in! Expect a wait. read more

We ordered the burrata and beef tartare to start and both were delicious. For our pasta, we did fettuccine and taglierini. The dishes are so simple but so delicious. I absolutely enjoyed the butter and egg in the taglierini. And because we're gluttons and wanted to stuff ourselves the American way, we also ordered the tortelloni to share. Also epic. All the pastas are made on site and you can see it through the kitchen window. The staff was great and friendly as well. I highly recommend a visit to Flour and Grape. read more

I came here with 2 work colleagues after countless recommendations. They don't take reservations so we ended up waiting about an hour at the bar downstairs. The service was great and they mentioned that typically 2 people get each and appetizer and share 3 mains as the portions are a bit small, so we went overboard and got 2 appetizers and 7 mains (this was heavy but we finished it). Onto the food: this was some of the best pasta I have had and have spent significant time in Italy. Ravioli with pork shoulder and truffle spaghetti were among the highlights. But every dish was phenomenal. The wine was very reasonable and ended up getting several different carafes. All in all an amazing meal for a great value. The pasta itself was very good although Ragu could use a touch more of salt. The portion of pasta is reasonable for a meal although smaller than a regular Italian-size, so to say. Flour & Grape is my favorite pasta restaurant in London (yea, forget Padella)! The pastas come in a big portion and are so delicious. The selection of wine and appetizers are better here than at Padella too. The restaurant recommends 2-3 starters per person but my friend and I wanted to try more pastas instead. We decided try the burrata as it seems to be quite popular here. It's creamy and is served on a bed of proscuitto braciotto, yum! We decided to try three of the pastas and it was not an easy decision since we wanted to try everything! We ended up getting the Tortelloni with roasted pork shoulder and sage butter, the Fettucine with lamb ragu, and the Taglierini with preserved truffles, butter emulsion and cured egg yolk. Everything was so good. I loved the texture of the various pastas and the richness of the sauces. In terms of prices, Flour & Grape is slightly more expensive than Padella however the pastas here are much more worth it for a bigger portion and significantly less waiting time! My dear pasta friends, I believe that I found THE place to eat pasta in London. On vacation with my Family, my 16 year old daughter begged me to have dinner at Flour and Grape. She got the recommendation from Social Media. Last time I listened to her, I was disappointed in the restaurant named Lavo in LA. The pasta was just bla. Nothing special. This time at Flour and Grape, it was the opposite. First of all, we were welcomed by one of the nicest Londoners. He helped us get our table. The restaurant doesn't take reservations and the waiting list may be long. But Tom made it so easy and simple. He is super nice too. Victoria took our order. She is lovely and so knowledgeable about what to order, what to drink, and gave us some recommendations on what to do in London. The location is accessible by bus, not too far from the tube station called Borough. The restaurant is very cute. There is also a downstairs bar to wait before getting your table. It is very cosy and nice. The atmosphere is great. Now time for the food. We tasted pretty much half of the appetizers (called small plates) and one third of the pasta options. The bruschettas and the burrata are to die for. The Bucatini Cacio i Pepe was fantastic. The Fazzoletti with spinach was my favorite although I usually don't reach for vegetables. The Casarecce was delicious. The Tortellini stuffed with roasted pork shoulder was so tasty. We are dreaming to come back to this Italian gem in the middle of London. read more

Really good Italian - handmade pastas are lovely! It doesn't not accept reservations but you can wait until they open and have a cocktail at the basement bar. This place is close to the Tower Bridge but inches into Bermondsey so it is more of a place locals come to chill and have a fab dinner. Would def recommend and return! read more

Flour & Grape is a hidden gem for tasty and affordable Italian food in the heart of London's Bermondsey street. We came here on a busy Saturday afternoon, hungry for some bold flavors and creative plates, and this place did not disappoint! Let me be frank and say that I have tried a LOT of great Italian food so I consider myself a bit of a pasta connoisseur, therefore I am always particularly picky when it comes to a good pasta noodle and quality wine. Flour & Grape, despite being more conservative in price of its dishes to the places that I am typically used to, earned a shining gold start when it comes to taste. Beginning with the starter, we indulged in a delicate plate of Salumi (a simple dish with two kinds of fresh prosciutto and no frills). The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I preferred the simplicity of plating, which allowed raw and natural flavors to come out beautifully. We quickly moved from the starters to the pasta, and given our appetites, we ordered four dishes. My absolute favorite was the Taglierini soaked in a smooth butter emulsion, cured egg yolk, and yep, you guessed it, TRUFFLE! It has hard to describe the gastronomical orgasm contained in one bite of this doughy goodness, but the truffle did not overpower the yolk, and the butter added a perfect "wet" bite but did not make the whole dish one bit greasy. A perfect vegetarian option with a tasty twist. Onto the next, the mighty Tortelloni! This was the most picturesque plate with carefully manicured pockets of pasta filler with tender pork shoulder meat and dressed with sage butter, YUM! The pork was simply divine! Soft and creamy it melted in my mouth, leaving a pleasant salty aftertaste, intensified with notes of sage butter. I highly recommend getting this one (if you eat meat and prefer pork). Third, came the Linguine with tiger prawns and garlic. I liked the flavors and the simplicity of the dish, but it was not my favorite pasta on the menu. The prawns were fresh, however, I think I would have preferred a tiny bit more flavor for this one. Lastly, came the classic Spaghetti. The white wine sauce made this dish! It was very simple and rustic, but so flavorful! Another bonus, this dish is naturally vegan and has gluten free options available so it is versatile and is suitable for many diets. Also, the baby tomatoes were super fresh and juicy and not overly cooked (which is what I prefer since I enjoy fresh veggies). We washed the meal down with Sparkling Red Wine which was a first for me. This was a super refreshing choice, if A) You group loves wine and rose and B) London is going through an intense heat wave and it is hard to breathe without a drink in your hand. We went with a Lambrusco from Emilia Romagna region, and while it was fizzy, the rich taste of red wine did not get lost, and was almost amplified by the bubbles. I am making myself salivate as I write this last bit here but for dessert, I lost myself in sweet & salty notes of chocolate & hazelnut budino, 'nough said! "What is Budino", you make ask? You will have to come and dine at Flour & Grape to find out...and fall in love. Bravo! read more

Friday night, really crowded, so I got a to go order and brought back to the hotel. I got the burrata and the Tagliolini. I know other reviewers raves about the burrata, but for me, it was "meh." The burrata was sitting atop a bunch of really salty and somewhat fatty slices of ham. For me, it wasn't an interesting dish. The Tagliolini was a bit better. I knew it would be kinda buttery/greasy, just because of the description, but for me it was just too much butter. The pasta itself was excellent and the use of truffle was spot on, but just too much butter. What they should do, is use browned butter with garlic, and then add some toasted panko to the dish to finish it. Although I got take out, the service was good, nice bread (but they forgot to give me the dipping sauce) and the prices seem reasonable and good value. I know this place gets like 4.5 stars, but I couldn't give it more than 3. read more

Food was decent with the absolute favourite being the roast pork shoulder, sage butter tortelloni followed by the Taglerini dish. The Fettuccine beefshort-rib ragu was underwhelming- not near as rich as I hoped it would be. We ordered the lemon tart, and tiramisu gelato for dessert. The Gelato was the better of the two (but isn't for someone who doesn't like coffee much- luckily I do) I would , love to go back again and try out the rest of the menu. read more
