It's a quaint little Italian spot in the heart of London and it's a wonderful place to spend, especially at night. We ordered the Spaghetti alla Carbonara, the Strozzapreti Boscaiola, and a Bellini and Mimosa to go with our dinner. The food took just a little while to get here but I was sure that it was because they were taking their care with every dish the chefs made. I was right. The pasta was fresh, the sauce and the ingredients tasted very simple and hearty. It all tasted like my hypothetical imaginary nonna made it. The drinks were very good too and complimented the food nicely. Our waiter was absolutely the nicest guy ever. He was very attentive and made sure that we were happy with everything. In my head, I was going to tip him well, and then when we got the check, there was no option to tip. God save the UK. America could learn a thing or two about what it means to not make life all about work. That's beside the point. If you're in London, visit Bon Gusto. This part of Southwark is just arms-length enough from the touristy areas that Flour & Grape feels like a spot that is mostly trafficked and loved by locals. This being South of the river, there isn't a particularly convenient Tube station to bring you here from another part of the city. (Try a rental bike or scooter!) It is popular and they don't take reservations, so you are likely to be forced to queue up when you arrive. I came right when they opened so I didn't have that problem, and if you can make that work, I recommend it. I ordered their Pappardelle; it had a delicous ragu that had a cool fusion of flavors. I really loved it. I also got a great little bowl of olives and a pisachio gelato dessert. That gelato tasted really nice. Service was highly professional, and it is a beautiful dining room. I would have chosen it last, but it was still a nice option for our dessert session.

Everything on the beach closed so early, and after a long day we were starving, sweaty, and tired. We found Spaghetti House tucked behind a university and decided to give it a try, and I'm so glad we did because it was worth every minute of the wait. Our server, Clara, was fantastic. I asked her what the top three dishes were, and she confidently said, "Everything." I thought she was joking, but she wasn't lying. Everything we tried was a 10 out of 10. My boyfriend got the lasagna, and it was thick, hearty, and full of flavor. I asked her to make me a shrimp pasta with pink sauce and to make it spicy, and it came out perfect.
