The location is top notch, a local place feeling but also very international. I stopped by on a beautiful July evening after my conference. I didn't have a reservation and I was alone, but I figured I'd ask if he had a table for me. He sat me down a nice table outside. The odd thing about eating alone in these types of restaurants is the table is a four person table with a small divider between the other half of the table. So there is a couple sitting there talking, while I'm by myself with nothing else to do but listen to them. Fortunately, they were speaking French and I had my AirPods, so I didn't understand much of what they were saying. Anyway, the dinner was delicious, service was quick and wine is good. People think that the London doesn't have great food. The answer is WRONG!! I heard Briciole has fresh hand made pastas so I wanted to try there. This place is cute but extremely busy and small. You must make a reservation before you go to the restaurant even it's on the weekdays. We didn't make a reservation not knowing how busy this place was. I asked the hostess could we get in? We came from America. The hostess made a table for us. We were so happy and lucky. And here is why.; their pasta is homemade. Also all their sauce is homemade. I really liked my shrimp pasta. My friend shared with me her homemade raviolis. It was so big and I can't explain in words. Our waiter was very attentive and knows what's good. Well everything looked good there. I'm not sure why this restaurant has the rating it does. Google rated it 4-1/2+ stars out of 5, over hundreds of reviews, and that was my experience there too. The menu and atmosphere were authentic; for example, wild boar on the menu, which I haven't seen since being in Norcia, Italy (in Umbria region). Service was prompt. We each asked for water, and were brought two large glass bottles of water. Obviously these are not free, so be prepared for that if you order water. I chose something different than what one usually thinks of as Italian: the pork ribs. Was a hunch. It turned out to be a good hunch, because they were spectacular. They were fall-off-the-bone tender, and seasoned nicely. My only complaint was that they needed some salt to bring out the flavor, which the wait staff brought me upon request. There was sufficient fat on the ribs to be flavorful; so fatophobics beware. My side dish was an eggplant dish that was to die for. Simple, being mostly eggplant with a few halved cherry tomatoes tomatoes, but delicious. I highly recommend this place. read more

I'm used to Italian dining having more vegetarian options, but this was very much focused on pork, sausage and ham. I don't know if this is a regional thing. No complimentary bread and oil. Reviews were very high on another platform, but this might be for people who don't care about budget when going out. I didn't experience the best value for money. The lemon ricotta ravioli tasted light, creamy inside, with a very zesty lemon flavour, served in a shallow bowl with tomato sauce. I forgot to count the little ravioli pockets, but it was something between a starter and a main course size. I thought for the price I was paying I would get a full size plate of food. Kind of regret not going a few streets over where there is more option. Anyway the taste was good and certainly flavours I can't cook up myself, so at least that's worth something and I didn't have to wait very long got the food. Maybe I'm too used to American palate portions, and these portions are the traditional way of eating, butter I think restaurant owners sometimes forget they us patrons go out to eat because we are hungry and by the time we are done eating our goal is to be the opposite of hungry. Delicious homemade pasta- we were a walk in and they quickly got a table ready for us. Gnocchi with peas & asparagus was perfection.

Very good restaurant at all time buzzing. Staff vey attentive and fast. The food is very good in every respect and the daily menu is really good. Changing daily you could eat there everyday and not eat the same food. The tiramisu is to die for and the Italian charcuterie plus cheeses are from small Italian producer giving the customer a real taste if Italy. A nice list of Italian wines and the selection of different Italian product to take away is also unique Ambiance is nice and vibrante. And I can vouch for the good espresso read more

By far and away our favourite authentic Italian restaurant / trattoria in London , in the UK , which we try and visit every time we come down from Scotland. A continually evolving menu to die for, including melt in the mouth cheeses, a sumptuous selection of hams, the richest wild boar Ragu you will ever have tasted, a lavish Lasagna and marvelous cuts of ribeye, all of which can be washed down with some of the best Italian wines the country produces. We absolutely love this place and no-one we have brought along or recommended to visit has ever been disappointed, which is an absolute credit to the staff who keep Briciole buzzing. The first two words that came to mind after the meal were - "bland" and "expensive." Upon looking at the reviews, I thought the gnocchi with summer truffles was a safe choice for a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the gnocchi was over cooked and the truffles and sauce lacked flavour. Our group also got some curated meats and cheeses that felt like they were from the nearest grocery store. Enjoyed the food. The bread appetizer was ok, some of the bread seemed a little stale but when combined with their very extensive meat and cheese board it works well. The meat and cheese board is great and I highly recommend it as an appetizer since their pasta portions are on the small side. As for the pastas we had a great experience. Perfection. Cozy atmosphere, warm staff, exceptional food. I've eaten out a lot in London (and so has my sister who lives here.) We agreed that this meal, tonight, was one of the most fulfilling and fantastic we'd had in the city. Everything was beautiful, fresh, and well timed. Focaccia was outstanding as well as the pear + hazelnut salad. I had the potato + black truffle gnocchi which was lovely. My sis had sea bass with a side of green beans. The green beans were prepared magnificently. Crunchy and cooked just right. We ended with a chocolate cake (I didn't taste - but my son loved) and an affrogato for me. I almost shed a tear. The main dishes here seem to be very hit or miss. If you order one of their better dishes, and you aren't in a hurry, you may very well be happy with your meal. But if you order one of their many mediocre dishes, it's just... meh. I went with a large group, and it seemed maybe half was fairly happy with their meal, but no one seemed over-the-moon, and some of us (me included) were disappointed. They started out by asking if we wanted a starter platter with some ham and cheese. Sure, we said. They did bring out ham and cheese, but then they also brought out multiples of at least 4-5 other dishes that we were not asked about - there was way too much food for a starter. And our starters ended up costing more than the main for most of us - what the heck?! Watch out for this if you're in a big group. For the main, I ordered the gnocchi with pesto sauce and sundried tomatoes. I like gnocchi, I like pesto, and I love sundried tomatoes, so I figured this was a fairly safe choice. Well... I counted five tiny slivers of sundried tomatoes on my gnocchi. If it had had many more, I think it would have been quite a tasty dish, but I don't think I've ever had pesto with such little flavor - I didn't even know it was possible. It was incredibly boring. The meat lasagna someone else ordered was apparently really bland as well. The starters were all good, and I got ice cream with espresso for dessert, which was quite tasty. I loved the rustic Italian ambiance with a bright main room, brick walls, and pictures of pasta all over the place. But service was very, very slow ("Italian style"), and I think that's the longest lunch I've ever been to (four hours!). I would give it two stars, but if you happen to order the right thing and want to take your time, you might still enjoy it. read more

Real thing alert: fellow foodies be ready for a Tuscan-style dive into the goodness of Italian gastronomy. A 'gastronomia' is actually what we call a small grocery store with a counter, which you will find at Briciole right by the entrance. Service is relatively fast but fairly impersonal, which is the only letdown if you compare it to your average restaurant in this category. For meat-eaters, you should have meat or cold cuts here. Nice gavi to compliment. Now on to the service. I had the honor of being seated next to a 'regular' who visits twice per week. They treated her famously and deserve a gold medal. Briciole is a nice little Italian restaurant in Marylebone near Edgware Road tube station. I was lucky enough to get a place outside and enjoyed the nice weather over a long bank holiday weekend. The waitress was very friendly and I could place my order shortly after I arrived and was handed the menu. I quite liked the jug of water I got when I asked for tap water. Unusual, but very nice and somehow I found it matches the menu and my overall impression of the place. I was looking for a light meal, so decided to start with just some bread and olive oil - that is usually always a good start. And indeed it was a good choice at Briciole. Three different sorts of bread and delicious olive oil were then followed by buffalo ricotta and fine herbs ravioli with butter and toasted almonds. On the menu it sounded even better: ravioli con ricotta di bufala ed erbette al burro e mandorle tostate. By reading through the menu and sitting outside on a warm day, you could easily fool yourself that you have a day off in Italy. Almost, at least. After the very tasty and light main, I asked for the panna cotta with strawberry coulis. While often you get only little strawberry sauce, this dessert was almost completely covered in the nicest strawberry sauce you could imagine. As it is always easy to win me with strawberries, this dessert confirmed my my verdict on the food: delicious and definitely recommended. read more

We were really disappointed by Briciole. After reading good reviews in TimeOut and elsewhere online, we decided to give it a try with a couple of friends over the weekend. The restaurant seems really disorganised. Even the process of booking a table was complicated. They have a system for "requesting" a reservation on their website, but we never received a confirmation that it had been booked. When my husband called to confirm, the people on the phone were very flustered and simply made us a new reservation. On the night of our reservation, we received a call to confirm the booking, and they had clearly booked us two tables. When we tried to cancel one of the bookings, the people on the phone were further flustered and confused. It was really frustrating and a bad introduction to the restaurant before we had even arrived. Service was sort of spotty when we ate here. The food was mixed, but nothing was great. Starters of bruschetta and cheese were better than our mains, but I can't give them very many points for a good cheese starter, because how can you really mess up a cheese plate if you have bought high-quality cheese? My gnocchi were a bit overcooked and didn't have a great texture, and the sauce lacked flavour. When our bill came, they charged us for an extra bottle of wine that we hadn't ordered, and further charged us for a more expensive wine than we had ordered! Overall, a very disappointing, bordering on frustrating, dinner. I won't return. read more

I went here after the recommendation from our hotel concierge. Our dinner started with their daily bread basket which contained several different breads, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed. I then had a very run-of-the-mill minestrone which didn't disappoint, but definitely didn't wow, followed by their lasagna. It was flavorful, but I would have liked to see more cheese and sauce with it - I felt overwhelmed by the noodles. Service was attentive, but I was disappointed when my colleague asked for a wine recommendation and the server was unable to really help him pin down a choice as he gave her a description of what he was looking for. The first thing I noticed about this restaurant is their logo. I'm sorry to say this but their logo did remind of those stickers you got given to as a kid after visiting a dentist. Logo's aside, this fine restaurant is situated on the quiet streets of Marylebone/Edgware Road. It's causal, and as another reviewer pointed out it is very cosy. Came here Sunday night. It was mostly empty inside, but the few tables outside were taken. It is an uninspiring place with wooden tables. I was attracted by the idea of Italian tapas. All in all, a let down. We had some nondescript cheese with some equally tasteless and chewy salami, followed by mediocre meatballs and arancini. This little Italian eatery in Marylebone has sweet service and tasty grub. They make a good negroni. On a recent visit, the mortadella was delicious, as was the boar ragout and the 'nduja appetizer. They have a dozen or so cheeses and a dozen or so types of charcuterie and you can pick and choose what you want. Very nice! There is a small patio out front, where we sat next to one of their Italian regulars--a testament to the authenticity of the cuisine. read more

I had the bread basket of the day and the eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant was much more like an eggplant lasagna than a traditional eggplant parmigiana. The eggplant was thinly sliced with cheese and sauce between the layers. The bread basket was a generous portion with 8 slices of different kind of bread. While these were not terribly priced for their size, other things were really small, like the meatballs (only 3) and the arancini (only 2 very small). I'd suggest going for the pasta rather than the meat dishes for a decent portion. read more
