    "Summer Salad
    Jason P.

We had a disappointing dining experience at Franco Manca. Mostly because the service was ineffective, but also, the crust wasn't great either. Parts of the food were good though. This FM is located on Bermondsey. My son and I were looking for a place to eat on a Friday evening, and many of the places on Bermondsey were full. FM is the first place we found with many open tables. We did a quick Yelp search to confirm quality and FM was our choice. We were seated at a very small two person table, as were the other parties of two. There were probably over 5 four person tables available. We sat for about 10 minutes before any of the servers acknowledged us. By the time a server stopped by, we were ready to order everything and did. I ordered a "Summer Salad" to start, which I figured my son and I would share. My son and I then each ordered an individual sized Neopolitan style pizza. Mine was spicy salami with onions and basil. Our server did not bring our salad first. She brought everything at the same time. Rewind to our table being very small. Our table could not reasonably fit two pizzas, a large salad, two side plates, and the other things that were on the table. Basically every single plate or bowl was hanging off the edge of the table. I asked if we could move to the empty four person table next to us and pointed at all of the plates that didn't fit. She said she couldn't sit us there because they needed to save the table for four people. I get that policy, but you have to stagger the food so it all fits then. Complicating matters, FM does not cut your pizza for you. They are literally the only place I've ever been to, that has you cut the pizza yourself at your table. Given the lack of space, it was very difficult to slice our pizza, without knocking over a glass, bowl or plate. It was like playing Operation. The entire time we were there, the restaurant was about half full and moving us would not have caused any issues. The servers weren't particularly friendly either. They weren't rude to anybody, but that's about the best I can say. With service like this, your food better be phenomenal. It was not. My pizza was fine above the crust. The crust was a floppy mess going inward from the middle ring of the pizza, and overly doughy outside the middle ring. The toppings were good though. The salad had some good ingredients. There wasn't enough of a flavorful dressing to tie together all of the parts though. FM needs to work on its service. And its crust. 2.75 Stars

Service was ok--big smile and cheery but....failed to come by and ask how our food was so I could not report they forgot to bring a dish No piped in crooning so could hear and be heard Chairs were comfy and table were like on a typical pizza place My salad was fresh and crisp The greens were diversified The chicken was shredded--didn't expect that--but the more substantial surface area led to a rather delicious salad. My chicken appetizer was basically shredded chicken and sauce with olives. Mundane and tasteless. There was nothing wrong with it per se but suggest to proprietor to consider chunks of chicken with additional seasoning (oregano. Thyme, rosemary basil) shredded mozzarella then baked until piping hot and then broiled till brown... finish with some freshly grated pecorino Romano. The menu is almost all pizza with a couple of salad options and a good assortment of appetizers.

Fresh (made onsite daily) lightweight, flavorful and inexpensive pizzas. About 10 pounds for a 12" I shared with my wife. Like more and more restaurants these days they add option tip.

I was starving and so I ordered a pizza to go using the QR code provided on the outside of the business. The order process was seamless and I soon received my confirmation email saying that my pizza will be ready shortly. Well...not so shortly after all. I waited and waited and waited...luckily I had my dog with me and she was keeping me company. Eventually, I asked one of the wait staff to check on my order when it transpired that my order had - for some reason - never been communicated with the kitchen. So, I was getting a bit hangry and I think Francesca - the name of the person helping me - realized that and she did the right thing: she prioritized my order and gave me a voucher for a free pizza. Nicely done! Oh...and the pizza was tasty too!

They are our go-to pizza place as it is relatively cheap and yummy. The wait wasn't long because a few people gave upon the queue but I think usually around 20min during busy hours. They have beer tap outside so you can drink while you wait. Also checkout the board for specials!!

I love this place!! Came here on a weeknight and the place was pretty busy. I didn't realise how big the place is until you get right to the back. I ordered the margherita pizza. It's very different to NY style pizza in a good way. The base has this nice taste that you don't normally get elsewhere. The tiramisu is also worth trying as it is nice and soft. It almost melts in your mouth. Both food and drink prices were quite reasonable. Service was also good. Definitely recommend this place!

It is a simple place with a nice ambiance and the aroma of garlic in the air as we entered. Many of the staff are Italians, a good thing at an Italian restaurant, with the chef hailing from bella Napoli. The pizza oven looks authentic, but it appeared out of use until the pizzaiuolo (pizza maker) put our garlic bread inside to bake. Turns out it is gas fired. We started with a Caprese Salad - "fresh (buffalo) mozzarella cheese, tomato, basil, and olive oil" (£6.90) - as well as an order of garlic bread (£3) as previously mentioned. The mozzarella was neither fresh nor Mozzarella di Bufala as far as I could tell and there were just four large, halved cherry tomatoes surrounding the ball of cheese which was topped with one lonely basil leaf. There was a "skin" on the outside of the mozzarella and it did not ooze liquid, indicating that it wIt was not the worst Caprese I have had, but it was far from the best. The garlic bread was actually pizza dough topped with olive oil and salt, then baked in the gas oven. It was tasty and a decent value. I also had a half bottle of house red wine (£6.90), a Merlot which was smooth, light, and tasty. I saw that they had a Salsiccia e Friarielli (sausage and broccoli rabe sautéed in olive oil) Pizza (£9.90) on the menu, so I asked if they could make me a pasta dish with sausage and friarielli as well, a request to which they readily agreed. Bravo! The pasta was quite tasty and well prepared, indicating that the Neapolitan chef knew what he was doing. They charged me the same for the pasta as they do for the pizza (£9.90). My wife's Spaghetti Carbonara (£8.50) was made with cream, pancetta, and egg and she enjoyed it very much even though it was "a bit too salty". It was a decent portion and a very good value for the price, but authentic it was not as you would never find cream as an ingredient in a carbonara in Italy. I would have given them an extra "BOMB" had the Caprese salad been better and more fresh and the carbonara prepared more traditionally. CombatCritic Gives La Luna 6 Bombs Out Of 10 ... To boot, they had five-star customer service, with the manager taking an active interest in the patron experience. The pizza seemed large when it came out, but I was able to demolish its entirety--fluffy crust, cheese topping and all--in fifteen minutes and still felt like I had some room for dessert. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that the manager took off four pounds from an already reasonable price, as a discount for keeping me waiting a tad longer. I have had many a slice of similar quality at Luzzo's in New York, but that did not come with this level of customer service. Come to Treo's for the rare combination of great ambience, food quality and service. You are unlikely to be disappointed.

I went for a 10inch "Vegetarian" which comes with Basilico pizza (tomato) sauce, roasted aubergine, courgette (which I omitted due to not being the biggest fan of courgette) and red peppers with red onions, chopped fresh tomato, basil and the option to have vegan cheese (to replace the Vegetarian mozzarella), and I was pleasantly surprised! When you think of takeaway pizza, you think greasy, unhealthy stodge... Well let me tell you something, takeaway pizza doesn't have to be greasy nor stodge. Straight up, this pizza was aaabsolutely delicious. The options Basilico have for Vegans aren't the most diverse, but it was actually really tasty, and I would most definitely have it again. It wasn't ridiculously priced (as people always seem to think Vegan food is) and the delivery time was really reasonable - way better than other "mainstream" pizza delivery companies. It also tasted much fresher, the base wasn't stodgy, and I didn't hate myself after eating it. So all in all, a really positive experience I would recommend you all try sometime Just thought it worth adding: as a long time cheese lover (honestly, I used to love cheese on everything: pizza, pasta, rice, soup, anything and was even nicknamed "Cheesus" by a couple of friends, thanks guys) - I was so dubious of Vegan cheese, however I was pleasantly surprised. The cheese they used was melty, creamy, and delicious! After calling them to enquire about the deliciousness, I found out it was Violife Mozzarella, which I've actually tried again since and it really does work well melted on top of things, and lasts a lot longer in the fridge than non-Vegan cheese! So next time you fancy takeaway pizza, rather than Domino's/Pizza Hut why not try something a bit different, that's super tasty and also supporting a smaller business!
