One size is perfect for one person but I did dine here with my daughter and I already knew that she wouldn't be able to finish one by herself so that's why we shared it. We had a disappointing dining experience at Franco Manca. Mostly because the service was ineffective, but also, the crust wasn't great either. Parts of the food were good though. This FM is located on Bermondsey. My son and I were looking for a place to eat on a Friday evening, and many of the places on Bermondsey were full. FM is the first place we found with many open tables. We did a quick Yelp search to confirm quality and FM was our choice. We were seated at a very small two person table, as were the other parties of two. There were probably over 5 four person tables available. We sat for about 10 minutes before any of the servers acknowledged us. By the time a server stopped by, we were ready to order everything and did. I ordered a "Summer Salad" to start, which I figured my son and I would share. My son and I then each ordered an individual sized Neopolitan style pizza. Mine was spicy salami with onions and basil. Our server did not bring our salad first. She brought everything at the same time. Rewind to our table being very small. Our table could not reasonably fit two pizzas, a large salad, two side plates, and the other things that were on the table. Basically every single plate or bowl was hanging off the edge of the table. I asked if we could move to the empty four person table next to us and pointed at all of the plates that didn't fit. She said she couldn't sit us there because they needed to save the table for four people. I get that policy, but you have to stagger the food so it all fits then. Complicating matters, FM does not cut your pizza for you. They are literally the only place I've ever been to, that has you cut the pizza yourself at your table. Given the lack of space, it was very difficult to slice our pizza, without knocking over a glass, bowl or plate. It was like playing Operation. The entire time we were there, the restaurant was about half full and moving us would not have caused any issues. The servers weren't particularly friendly either. They weren't rude to anybody, but that's about the best I can say. With service like this, your food better be phenomenal. It was not. My pizza was fine above the crust. The crust was a floppy mess going inward from the middle ring of the pizza, and overly doughy outside the middle ring. The toppings were good though. The salad had some good ingredients. There wasn't enough of a flavorful dressing to tie together all of the parts though. FM needs to work on its service. And its crust. 2.75 Stars read more

Taking a break from the London Roasts we stopped in for a much needed pizza before we headed to The Bridge Theatre to see a show. We got the number 3 and 11 and both were really delicious! The sourdough bread was really tasty. The 3 of us finished up two pizzas rather quickly. My daughter and husband enjoyed one of their dipping sauces which they used on the particularly tasty crusts. We have a lot of sourdough pizza places back home in Los Angeles but this one is quite tasty. We would return if we lived here but be warned this location is located on the outskirts of Borough Market and it is really busy. We were seated quickly, service is a tad slow but I find that all over London (busy holiday season me thinks) so I ordered my two drinks upfront as I wasn't sure I'd be able to get another after the food arrived which has been my experience at other places. read more

We liked this pizza so much we got it two nights in a row. It is a freshly made sourdough pizza and I got the OG margherita and I also tried the regular margherita. The difference being that the OG has Buffalo margherita and red Piennolo tomato from Vesuvio. Both were delicious. I enjoyed the sourdough crust as it has a slightly chewier bite and a subtle tang in the taste. We ordered from an app and they were super quick for the pick up. Very affordable and delicious. Abhorrent service. Took 30 minutes for anyone to take our order. Finally get this waiter with a buzz cut and a bunch of piercings. He was very clearly under the influence. Also had a poorly applied bandage with half his wound sticking out, which could cause health and safety hazards. Took 45 minutes for half our order to arrive, and when asked where to other half was, he had said he had forgotten to put it in. He was so high he forgot to put in half our order. Took another 15 minutes for our food to arrive. Food was painfully below average and overpriced. There are many other great choices in London, don't waste a meal here read more

We just happened upon this place while walk around London, and we were so glad we did! We had 6 in our group and everyone said it was the best pizza they'd ever had! The crust was absolutely perfect. One in our party who has severe food allergies was even able to order a no dairy, gluten free pizza that she said was delicious. The order process was seamless and I soon received my confirmation email saying that my pizza will be ready shortly. Well...not so shortly after all. I waited and waited and waited...luckily I had my dog with me and she was keeping me company. Eventually, I asked one of the wait staff to check on my order when it transpired that my order had - for some reason - never been communicated with the kitchen. So, I was getting a bit hangry and I think Francesca - the name of the person helping me - realized that and she did the right thing: she prioritized my order and gave me a voucher for a free pizza. I love this place!! Came here on a weeknight and the place was pretty busy. I didn't realise how big the place is until you get right to the back. I ordered the margherita pizza. It's very different to NY style pizza in a good way. The base has this nice taste that you don't normally get elsewhere. The tiramisu is also worth trying as it is nice and soft. Guyssssss. This is by far one of the best pizzas I've ever had. I actually had no plans to eat here, but thanks to the many pizza box park bound go-ers (at least 50+ people) strolling by with taunting mysterious brown boxes , FOMO with this magical pizza struck me. I had to have a piece. This sourdough crust pizza is gee wholly so amazing. You know it's good when you eat the entire crust when you normally don't (sorry-I'm a picky crust eater and will only eat it if it's not dry/tough/hard once it's cooled down). Man. The crust is chewy, flaky and has the perfect bite. Get a side of pesto to dip it with if you like sauce like me. Sauzzzzzzeeeeee mmmm. Organic lemonade made with Sicilian Lemons. We have been here once to dine in and once to carry away. Dining in definitely gets better service and more attention at least in our limited experience. Came here on a relatively busy evening just before peak hours and waited about 25 minutes for a table. Sat down, ordered one beer and an appetizer (prosciutto with burrata) with two pizzas to share (veg special and FM special 7?). Two beers came because evidently there was some mistake in the wait staff. No complaints here because now I get my own beer. Appetizer comes but looks incomplete (no prosciutto). We alert the staff and the offending tray is whisked away to be replaced by another tray with different (and accurate) items. Burrata cheese was silky and creamy, the prosciutto was salty. Dish came with tomatos and a bit of rocket. Very yummy! The pizza was good but not amazing. Service was inattentive so I never got napkins and we had to flag someone down for a check. Later the next week, ordered carry away because we were with friends. We got three pizzas to split (2, 4, and 6) and again the pizza was good but the toppings distribution was laughable. The chorizo on the #4 was pathetically clustered on about one quarter of the pizza, and the meat on the #6 was a bit sparse and all in the center. Not terrible but considering the price (we even got charged to add extra tomato sauce that was never added) we aren't going to come back unless we have no other options. We can just make better pizza at home (yes we are food snobs and make our own pizzas don't judge). read more

Just visiting and I am very glad we stopped by. As of this moment we have gone 2 out of 3 nights we have been in the area. This is not the American style pie that I am used to. It's not greasy huge and loaded with toppings. It's got fresh ingredients, light toppings, and a size perfect for an individual. Honestly I loved their crust. Five stars for the best (and only) sourdough pizza I've ever had! This pizza spot was right around the corner from the flat we were staying at while visiting London for the week. We walked by several times and decided to stop in for something to go after a long train ride home from Cardiff. Well, the train from Cardiff and then the Underground was delayed big time, and we ended up showing up about 8 minutes before they closed. The first employee told us the kitchen was already closed, but then another employee came out and graciously let us order some pizzas to go. They were ready in about 10 minutes and we took them home and devoured them like there was no tomorrow. My husband and I shared a pizza with ham, mozzarella, ricotta, and mushrooms and then a garlic bread mozzarella which was basically a whole other pizza because it also had tomato sauce on it. That garlic bread was the winner and we ended up eating it twice that week - the crispy crust with the tangy sourdough and melty cheese was the perfect combination. The second night we had the chorizo and mozzarella pizza and it was not as good as the mushroom one. The prices were reasonable at around £8 for a pizza and the service was great. Next time we cross the pond we will be back for sure! read more

What a find! We were staying near Tower bridge and needed somewhere to eat. Yelp sent us down a dingy side street and at the end of it we found Franco Manca. There was a queue out of the door but, lucky for us, a table for two was available immediately. We really liked the simplicity of the menu and winelist - and we also really liked the prices - really great prices. Of course, the proof is always in the eating and their pizzas were the business. The last pizza we ate was in Little Italy, NYC, and this one in Bermondsey was right up there. It was light and tasty with enough of the sourdough tang to keep things interesting. The wine was light and fruity and a perfect accompaniment. Not sure we will be telling too many people about Franco Manca, we don't want to be at the back of the queue! read more

It's another one in the Franco Mana chain that started it's small beginnings in Brixton. And it's awesome. Sour dough based pizza (so it's better for you right...) and a wood oven. What else do you need? House cured ham and sausage? Yes ok that would be good too and they have that. There is also specials to snack on such as burrata and other cured meats. Yum. Lots of vego options. There are 6 pizzas to chose from and they change seasonally. Anything with wild broccoli is amazing. The sausage/meat special is seriously good. My favourite thing about this place is that the most expensive wine is under £20 pounds. Yes you heard correct. It's all bio and organic and really goddamn good. GO THERE. read more

I'd give this between 3-3.5, but this might be down to the high expectations with which I came here. It was a nice, casual atmosphere - everything you'd really want from a pizza place, really. The price for the pizza was also very cheap, so you don't have to worry about breaking the bank to have a fun meal with friends/family! I ordered the standard margherita and asked for artichokes as an extra topping. It wasn't too bad and much better than most pizza chains out there, but I found the sauce a little plain and the crust a bit too strong to chew enjoyably. I do love love love Franco Manca, especially now I've discovered the best time to go and get a table... The pizza comes quick and is delicious - I definitely recommend sticking to their menu and not being adventurous and trying out one of their specials. The number 6 and number 4 are my favourites, and I highly recommend them. Although it is a very authentic Italian place to eat, it is a shame that they do charge a lot for a simple Aperol Spritz, £6.90 for a small glass! We thankfully asked before we ordered, so didn't order one in the end! The great thing about Franco Manca is the quality, size and price of their pizzas. They are very well priced for fresh and delicious toppings and ingredients. If you go to a Pizza Express you know they aren't using fresh ingredients, and for about £4-£5 more expensive. But at Franco Manca, you know exactly what you're getting, and all for way under £10, ranging from £5-£8 for a pizza, it's great!!! Definitely check out Franco Manca, but just make sure you don't go at prime time as you won't get a table... and annoyingly can't book! read more
