I did NOT enjoy your entire "team" as I ONLY enjoyed doing business with Mo and another gal, slim and tall, so pretty and youthful with long chestnut hair, Daniel and lovely, equally radiant, sweet, pretty Kyle. The female BRUNETTE/DARK HAIR salesperson, Maribella/Bella was tooooo busy trying on clothes and sneakers for her own benefit to be bothered with customers and she was VERY irritating loud complimenting herself constantly! TOTALLY OBNOXIOUS!!! I was so happy Mo was helping me and compliant, sweet, efficient, kind gal, Daniel. It was not until I returned evening of May 27th that I learned the gal I just mentioned is named Bella and then later reading my receipt saw her name spelled as Mirabella. That put 2 and 2 together when I called earlier this month about product availability that Mo was NOT working that day and I spoke with a female named Bella who was BEYOND irritating responding with idiotic replies which smacked of SLURS that I found humiliating attempting to PUT DOWN Mo's fine character by the degrading comments, how Mo has "LOTSSSSSS OF CHILDREN!!! MO HAS A LOT OF CHILDREN!!!" She made Mo sound like some illicit trollop FREAK! I hoped I would never have to speak with HER: BELLA again! BELLACOSE BUMPKIN is MORE LIKE IT! An EXTREMELY obnoxious and unsettling personality TRYING TOOOO HARD, TOOO ARTIFICIAL, TOOOO PHONEY, TOOO 'being BOTHERED' ! FAKE, artificial and for goodness sake I am trying to shop so GET OUT OF MY FACE BELLA idiot!!!!!!!!! Sadly I returned May 27th to pick up socks since I had received a $10. certificate offer OnLine. You know, like WOW: $18. checkered 3 pairs of pastel socks for only $8. + tax! GREAT! I gathered those and a TOOOOOOOOO IN MY FACE BELLA was there, the same gal trying on clothes that other day, informed me NICE Mo was not working today! BUMMER! Neither was sweet Daniel. DOUBLE BUMMER! I looked around and saw that GREAT: Van's finally has some male energy and hired another guy! COOL! I asked the guy for help, telling him that and he whispered TOOOO OBVIOUS into an earphone and HE disappeared and suddenly BELLA was IN MY FACE LOUD AS A BULLHORN making me SO nervous! Something has GOT TO BE WRONG with Bella because normal people don't act that way. And the stuff she said was so STUPID, making NO sense but OBVIOUSLY smacked slurs of racism, prejudice, bigotry, homophobia and all together TOTAL mandrist HATE OF MEN/MALES! Hey! I don't judge proclivities nor leprechuans! NOTHING MAGICAL ABOUT BELA Lugosi!! I tried to get away from Bella wondering where the fab sales guy was and she did NOT let up on us! She was SO CONFUSED and discombobulated handing me the other guys items to buy and I had to correct her and tell BELLA those are NOT my items! I'm NOT paying for those!!! I just asked for a bucket hat and checkered socks! Bella got a bucket hat from the back but it was no the flowered bucket hat OnLine Vans! I bought it and the socks with the other person's stuff NOT happy with the point explaining to almost wriggle out of a truth she was giving me(!) This "BELLA" is so transparent and unauthentic I had a HORRID experience and do NOT want to ever wear the items I bought. She threw off my peaceful, beautiful day! My friend said he never wanted to return to this Vans store every again!!! I told him, I am returning tomorrow the 28th to RETURN EVERYTHING I bought from Bella because every time I will go to wear these items I will think of HER and that horrid experience I felt blocked into!!! THAT is NOT a good salesperson!!! I sure hope she is NEVER EVERY considered for Manager! How could she be with the ridiculous racist slurs she threw our way! In my book, BELLA, YOU'RE FIRED! Vans is a legendary beach/surf shoe. I've been wearing them for years and have loved some and not love some. Yesterday I went into the store in Encinitas and I had a very specific pair in mind and of course they were right in front of me... Perfect. But the best thing was, when I went to check out the lovely cashier said to me, would you like to use your family plan credit? I had no idea what it was so I said sure. She said well then your total for the shoes are $30! I was astounded that Company like vans even knows who I am or what I am but their system does and they rewarded me for being a good customer. Called in to see if they had any Real decks in a size 8.25 and the lady on the phone had no clue what I was taking about. Then I clarified and said "Real" was the name of the brand. She then went on to say that she had a few 8.2 decks and I asked her to again to be sure that they were 8.2 and she reassured that she had em. So I drive 30 mins up there and this dude in braids starts grabbing all these 8 and 8.5 decks, when I asked for an 8.2. Then he said he was gonna check on something and went to help out some other people in the store and left me standing there. Then he came back and asked me if he could help me. I told him "I thought you were going to check on something for me" then he was apologetic but proceeded to point out more decks in the wrong size. I just ended up leaving. read more

I don't typically write reviews however I visited the new Vans store in Encinitas for the first time today and had a great shopping experience and felt compelled. I received 2 pairs of sk8 hi's as a gift recently and was looking to exchange them for different colors/styles. An associate named Jimmy promptly came over to me to see if I needed help. He was very kind, patient, and funny. Helped me with recommendations and knowledge of the products. He had a great temperament and attitude and I really appreciated that. I also was helped by the store manager Joshua who was just as sweet and accommodating. I let Joshua know about what a great job their new hire Jimmy had done in helping me and he prompted me to do an online feedback survey which I completed however there was no option on there to shout out specific people who had helped me so I decided to do it here on yelp! The store overall is really cool. But the people they have working in there are way too young and have no idea what they're doing. I made a return and the girl tried to give me $80 worth of fives back, because she didn't want to give me her last 20 and 10. What? I love coming to Vans but at this location the manager (Heather I believe was her name) was extremely rude and not very helpful. I heard her being rude to the staff and giving dirty looks to the customers. She was also talking very loudly about pushing everyone out of the store and from working in retail I know that you never make a customer feel unwelcome especially when there is 30 minutes until closing. I stopped in with my 11yr old daughter so we could purchase her checkered slip ons, everything was great until we went to check out. At the register I handed the guy the coupon I received when we purchased a different pair of shoes a few weeks ago and he stated that the coupon was only good on a purchase of $65 or more (shoes were only $50), he then pointed out the clearance items so we could find something to make up the $15 needed to use the coupon. After looking for a few minute my daughter finally found a shirt that she liked that was her size. I hand the shirt to the guy and he replies you need to spend $0.05 more cents, the shirt was $14.95. He then asked was there a higher priced shirt she liked, so we looked at the rack again and as we looked my daughter got frustrated cause there were not a lot of options in her size. She then decided to just leave with out the shoes and I totally supported her decision. If $0.05 cents is worth loosing a sale over then it is not a store that deserves my money.
