Ordered take out Pho and a bubble tea. The pho container was half full and they charged me extra for my tea. Disappointed

This place is very good! The waiter was really nice!!! I saw some reviewers saying that the service was mediocre, but my waiter was very attentive and always if I needed anything. I usually eat my Pho on Long Island in Bayside because the flavor is addictive, but this pho was exceptional!!! I started off with the spring rolls and an appetizer and then went on to the pho. The broth was very well seasoned and I was pleasantly surprised!! I was a little hesitant to come here because some of the reviews were like one star, the place was not "run-down" as another yelper put it. It was homey and casual. If you want extra beef in your pho it was about $3 extra, but other than that it was good! I had the regular sliced beef pho and I would recommend! The size of the bowl was good and it had plenty of noodles. All in all, I would recommend this place to anymore wanting to experience Pho for the first time!!! read more

I consider myself a bit of a pho connoisseur and this place has top notch pho. We got take out and they sent all the trimmings and rare/raw beef which poached perfectly in the hot broth. Banh Mi was also great. Will be back. Plenty of parking at a lot across the street, so don't worry if all the on-street parking is taken. read more

Love this place! I've never dined in though so I'm not sure about the service but every time I get takeout it's amazing! I've tried the pho house over in Wyomissing too but it's not as good as this place. In my opinion. I love the way the broth tastes. So important that they have everything you need in their to go packages! Some places need reminded to put spoons, forks, napkins in the to go packages and I don't like that! One time a long time ago I got the pho and something tasted off about it but I've been there several times since and it's been fine so not sure what that was but just a one time occurrence. read more

Cold cold cold Brrrrrr. Don't take your jackets off. Service slow, slow, slow . The bathrooms needed cleaned better . The food was really good. We waited hours for our check . We were never acknowledged after being served. My hands are freezing as I type and the top of my legs are numb because of the interior temp . When you walk back to the bathroom you can see a large note in Vietnamese's DONT TOUCH!!! on the thermostat and touch they won't . I had lotus salad with shrimp. It was really really good . I loved this place. I eat Vietnamese food where I live in South Philly all the time, and Van's rivals the best Washington Ave has to offer. I tried a grilled pork banh mi, a house special Pho, and a coffee with condensed milk... all were excellent. The broth in the pho was good, the noodles were perfect, and there was a good balance in the meat. I am used to more onions in pho (and white instead of red onion), but it was easy to look past that. The banh mi was the highlight of my meal... everything was perfect, and the mayo/spread was awesome. As good as any I've had anywhere. I can't wait to go again and try different banh mi options. read more

I love this place! It's a little joint owned by true Vietnamese folks who know their way around the kitchen. Hands down Van's Cafe has the best pho around. The portions are huge and there is something on the menu for everyone. Their seafood pho is delicious and hearty and their spicy beef pho is full of kick and flavor. I would recommend also the jicama rolls, Vietnamese egg rolls and steamed veggie dumplings which are all very good, especially with the different dipping sauces each comes with. Finally, you have to try the French coffee with condensed milk; it's like a dessert in liquid form and the perfect pick-me-up. The service was outstanding. I can't wait to go back. read more

Five stars for the food, two for the service (if I'm being generous). I've walked out of this place twice in the last six months (including today) because we were never acknowledged. Both times were outside of traditional lunch and dinner hours, and the place was less than half full. Yet all of the empty tables were un-bussed, and the one server on duty appeared overwhelmed (yet curiously unhurried). It's time for Van's to match their service to their food and add more front-of-the-house staff, or at least more experienced staff. read more

The lady owner is very nice. Food is tasty, large portion with decent price. They now serve broken rice dish as trial, pretty good except the pork chop. It's served with roast pork instead of pork chop, which is served on a traditional Vietnamese trio rice dish. We also tried the Pho and stir fried vermicelli, large portion and lots of meats. The food is delicious! Highly recommend all variations of the drunken noodles, including the vegetarian version. All of the rolls we tried were delicious. The sauces are wonderful. The owner was very nice. We had a long discussion with her about Vietnamese food. My daughter who is vegan loves Van's. She introduced me to this great spot. Only shortfall is that there isn't a Van's in the Lehigh Valley where I live. Will be back when life returns to normal. read more

When I first looked at the plate full of food, I told her I would probably need a box to take half home. But - it was so delicious I ended up eating the entire plate! Great taste of culture, I had the rice noodle with pork and it's just like I had in Ny exempt the pork was cooked differently and not grilled to have that charred flavor. The place is nice and small, the sign was hard to see from far since its black. But overall it's a 4star for me. They are getting a 5 for the FOOD. I am NOT reviewing the service or the atmosphere. I can get service and atmosphere and terrible food anywhere... I want GOOD FOOD... Period. The place is not fancy and the service is weak... but the FLAVOR of the PHO makes up for it and that is why you go out for Pho in the first place isnt it? I was raised on food from Chinatown in NYC and the atmosphere is very similar - a kitchen in the back and tables and not much else. The service is at best McDonalds quality... I usually go to the Pho House by Wyomissing, PA. My friend wanted to try Vans Cafe again because we haven't gone here in a few years. Unfortunately, not happy at all with the service. The food is good, but we both ordered Pho and it took them over 40 minutes to arrive with the food. The waitress never checked in on us either. read more

Delicious Banh Mi's and Pho. Large portions for the price and I love the staff. New location is much better. Still gets tight during lunch so taking a large group may be tight but I usually order take out. If you like Vietnamese, I would definitely give them a try. More casual environment than Hong Thanh and I think slightly cheaper than the Pho house. read more
