We've used VanRossun Contracting twice now for work on our home and there's a reason we keep going back to them: the quality of the work and attention to detail can't be beat. Clint really has a way of finding really talented craftsmen and workers. Additionally, unlike others we've worked with where you don't know who is showing up on what day at what time, Clint's guys work consistent hours, for us they typically showed up at 8 and had cleaned up for the day by 5. As disruptive as a remodel can be it's a relief to have a little consistency. Another reason we've stuck with VanRossun is because unlike other contractors we've worked with or gotten bids from, Clint is a good open communicator about the budget. He's been great about sitting down with us and pricing things out, and then we can sort of trim from there to get what we really need out of our budget. The initial consult was positive. Work began on 9/15 and was to take less than 90 days. Weeks went by with little to no work done. We moved back the last week of February with some work unfinished and some done wrong. At that point calls stopped being returned. We had to hire an additional contractor to finish and correct errors. That took two weeks. It has now been one year since the first contact and we have not had calls returned since March. This review is way overdue. I did not contract with vanrossun. I did get an estimate for a kitchen remodel around the time of covid. My parents got sick so remodel plans got put on hold. The estimate for the kitchen work, some misc repairs, replacing windows etc was 99,900 or so. They wanted 50% up front. What was missing? Quality of cabinets, quality of windows, quality of countertops, etc. In terms, of materials, I had no idea what I would be signing onto. I quickly passed. I am picking the project up again on the kitchen and a shower update. The kind of estimates that I am considering are: ballpark figure. 5% upfront charge, design process to narrow down exact costs. More detailed contract arrangement. I would avoid and certainly do not put 50% down on a kitchen project without a design and specifications. read more

I am so happy I picked VanRossun for my remodeling job of the bathroom and painting the entire interior of my house. It was a pleasure to work with Clint and Isabel, but also all workers. Everyone seemed to go out of their way to make everything work smoothly. I love my bathroom with pull-out faucets, outlets in cabinets, drawers built around the drains. I have so much room, I still have empty drawers. In one of the pictures, you can see the tile baseboards. The rest of the hose was also painted, but what a wonderful job they did. Update; I did tell them how displeased I was. I told them about the grout and the scratches on my shower and sink. They just shrugged it off. They gushed about how beautiful it was and when I pointed out the problems they did nothing. I couldn't know at the time that they would ignore my instructions to anchor the towel rack or that the light would fall out in two years or that the vanity light would stop working in one year. The rest of the comment is absurd posturing. "Look up what an elite yelper is. Very interesting." What's interesting? It's just a group of people who use yelp a lot, upload lots of pictures and write detailed reviews. I'm not paid. I was asked if I wanted to join and I did. That's somehow nefarious? Interesting way to try to discredit someone who tells the truth about an experience they had with your company. It really was awful. We paid them $18,000 to put in a new bathroom. We gave them very specific instructions which they just never read? They certainly never passed them on to the contractors. They started late, even though we planned the work over 6 months in advance. They took forever, which cost me money when I had to pay another contractor to reschedule work they couldn't do because Vanrossun was still there. So many things I can hardly list them all. We asked half a dozen times for blueprints, and they kept sending hand drawn sketches. We needed the exact measurements because we needed to know how big the sink and such could be. We never got the blueprints we needed and settled for trusting his estimates. We verified 3 (THREE!) times that a double sink, 72" would fit. We ordered it, and less than a week later he sends a frantic email about how it won't fit and says they'll have to take another foot out of our closet to make it work. We said no way. Fortunately Wayfair took the sink back at no cost (small mercies). The towel rack we bought also didn't fit. Then the work was just so, so shoddy! I cried when I saw it. The grout was flaking before they had even finished. When I pointed it out they just put down another layer. Which immediately started flaking chunks! What's the difference in price between good grout and cheap grout? $0.20/lb?? I just can't! My husband has zero training in building houses, but we have YouTube and the 2 bathrooms in our house he has retiled look ten times better than the one we paid 'professionals' to do. The granite sink top was severely scratched. The edging to the shower was scratched. The brand new bathroom looked like it had 5+ years of wear before the first time we used it. They put the doorknobs on the door, then taped them and painted them. EVERYONE knows to paint first! Who are these amateurs?! Two and a half years have gone by now. I'm writing this review now because the towel rack was pulled out of the wall. We told them specifically (along with several other things we put in an e-mail that we labeled important and referred them to several times, most of which they inignored and had to go back and correct) to put a 2x4 between the studs behind the towel rack to anchor it. Now we know they didn't. What else didn't they do? This is just the surface, visual stuff. What might be wrong with the plumbing? The wiring? I just can't believe anyone would put together a bathroom like that and be proud of their work. Update: less than 3 years after having the bathroom put in, the vanity lights have completely failed and the light over the shower is falling out of the ceiling. The 30 second phone call I had with them showed me everything I need to know about this company. Extremely rude people. Simply asked if they replace patio doors and their response was "No. We have a lot going on right now." I then said "Ok, I just wanted to check if it's too small of a project for you guys." They said, "why, do you need a door replaced?" Ummmm no I'm calling companies around Austin and asking stupid fuckin questions. Looking for a contractor to execute your job in a professional manner? One who uses drop clothes, protecting sheeting and the like? One whose employees use all of their own tools(not yours) and does quality work? One who doesn't dismiss poor workmanship or leave with your belongings? Then VanRossun Contracting And Consulting is NOT for you. It is baffling to me that I had to spend twenty minutes talking to Samantha about her workers ( which are just people the pick up from one of the day worker stations) using my household items to complete the job.I don't think it even entered her defensive mind that her workers should NOT be touching anything that belongs to me i.e. brooms, mops, kitchen towels, bath towels, tools, buckets. The principle that the customers belongings should never be touched nor used was lost on her. As for Clint, I had to have the exact conversation with him. It is unbelievable to me that I have to explain to them why it is unprofessional to touch and use a customers belongings. When it came time to go over their workmanship it was awful. When my husband showed Samantha the paint job on the new door they installed, her response was "That's because we don't use the kind of filler that is used for a metal door". Really??? Well shouldn't you get some that works with the door you sold me?? Instead of having a door that looks new, I have a door that that looks like it has been painted 20 times with lumpy paint. In the end, I refused to pay them the rest of the money that was owed to them for the job until they redid some of their atrocious work. Even then I was left crummy workmanship and a lot of stress. After we interviewed six other contractors, my Wife and I decided to go with VanRossun Contracting. Our remodel was over 70 thousand dollars so we wanted to go with a company that could handle that big of a remodel, especially since we never plan on moving out of our house. When I wrote that first check for half I have to admit I was nervous. Well right off the bat Nic was on the job the next day helping us pick out the wood flooring, granite, paint, etc. Within the week he already had my outdoor kitchen concrete poured. Being a Manager for a large company having to deal with contractors all the time, I was very impressed with Nic VanRossun. He was always on time, answered my phone calls promptly, and most importantly kept his word on what he would do. Even after he was paid in full he came out and redid my pool coping that got rained on after he stained it. Now that was cool. He didn't even charge me, which cost him another $500 bucks. Just to keep this all in perspective, we are certainly not wealthy and spending this kind of money gave us a lot of heartburn, but the job turned out simply amazing. The rock work was incredible, the wood flooring blew us away, and the granite made our house look brand new. He designed my outdoor kitchen and even put in a gas fire pit which has been a huge homerun. His guys worked long hours to get us quickly back into the house and their work was outstanding. I've had quite a lot of friends come by and they are blown away by the results. In fact, one said it looks like a brand new house, and another is hiring Nic to do his roof. If you are looking to do any kind of remodel work, I highly reccomend using VanRossun Contracting. I'm sure he'll use me as a reference so feel free to call me if you have any questions. I used Van Rossun Contracting back in Feb. of 2013. They replaced all my siding and facia with Hardee board and repainted the entire exterior of the house. This is a pretty big two story and they finished it up in a full seven days. I must admit there were a few communication issues, but my dad was an electrical contractor and I worked for a general contractor for over two years, so I was accustomed to the pros and cons of communicating with contractors. The work was top notch, and I'm writing this now (for one I didn't use yelp back then) to let prospective clients know that after two years Clint came out and took care of a board that popped out towards the apex of my roof at NO CHARGE. It was unclear to either of us if it was even Van Rossun's fault or just a board that had worked loose over time. I would use them again. read more

I hired VanRossun for a bathroom remodel- redo the shower and the tile floor. They rescheduled my job several times -initially I was told it would be done in August, but didn't get started til December. They didn't review my plumbing choices and didn't buy everything needed -which we discovered a week into the work. Clint sold me on a two shower head design but then didn't tell the people doing the work what was going on so they didn't prepare for the second shower head. When they did a bit of re-work to put in the shower head they cut corners, like measuring, and I ended up with the two showerheads overlapping at different heights. After weeks of trying to get them to address it, Clint finally came to my house only to insult me for wanting two shower heads in the first place, saying he never would have done that. He cursed several times and told me "you're gonna get what you get." The grout was uneven and noticeably discolored in places, the floor wasn't leveled so the water went to the center of the drain, they didn't put the shelf where I'd asked them to, etc- really no part of the workmanship was professional. He kept being unresponsive and ultimately we had to get another contractor to come finish the job. I'm really glad I did, as they found other issues- when they removed the tile they found that it hadn't been installed correctly and the backboard had holes and moved with slight pressure (it shouldn't). I ended up having to redo most of the shower, else "you'll probably have issues with tile falling off in a few years." VanRossun and I terminated our contract with the understanding I'd be keeping the materials I'd already purchased (and already paid for 80% of the project even though I basically had to redo it all) but they weeks later still will not let me come get my glass. The glass was cut specifically for my shower so it's not like they can reuse it elsewhere, and still they will not let me have it. That is the kind of behavior you can expect from VanRossun. Go get it done right by someone who knows what they're doing and won't insult you for their incompetence, and ghost you while they keep the materials you bought. read more

They incorrectly put up flashing and added flashing where it didn't go prior. I only used this company because our friend knows them. It won't happen again. The owners brother (I think that is who was here anyway) was rude and didn't care that I wasn't happy with any of the work they did and when I told them THEY needed to clean up their mess. We recently used Vanrossun for a kitchen remodel. The work included reshaping the island, granite countertops, and new tile on the backsplash as well as the island wall. In summary, we were very happy with the results, but it took a little work to get there. Multiple sub-contractors were needed for this job and they were all outstanding! They were all very professional, detailed, and clean. It only took them 5 days to complete the job, which was pretty impressive. The only downside of the entire process was some lack of communication and miscommunciation before the work was started. However, once Adrienne got involved as project manager, everything went VERY smoothly! She did an awesome job of keeping us informed, working with us through any decisions needed, and coordinating the crew schedules every day. The attention to detail was very good upon completion of the job. Nick came out and looked over all the work and had a final crew come out and finish up some minor details to really "polish off" the final product. Dependable, high quality work. VanRossun Contracting & Consulting has done three different large renovation jobs in our home. The work was always high quality, and the workers were always able to suggest ways of doing more difficult tasks so that they would be more efficient and effective. They also have come to our rescue in an emergency when we had a pipe break and flood the bulk of the house. They were the first ones there immediately and did a fabulous job of recognizing and fixing the problem when another business we contacted didn't. Their individual specialists are excellent and always prompt and friendly, making sure they didn't disturb us or even inconvenience us. Even though the cost is a little higher, we would use them as the main contractors any time we have more renovation to do. read more

One star is all that Clint and Isabel will receive for our $11,000 walk-in shower remodel. Where to begin? Clint(the owner) is the WORST business owner we have ever had the displeasure of working with. As others have mentioned, his communication with clients is horrible. We had different trades(tile layers, shower pan installers, glass installers) show up at our house unannounced several times; Clint never bothered to call to let us know. After he had our deposit in hand ($5,500) he had the nerve to become aggressive and loud on the phone when asked a simple question. This happened again on another call during the course of the 3 week installation. If he would not have been holding our deposit, we would have dumped him before our project even started but this was not an option. We constantly found ourselves calling Clint to see if his workers were going to show up or not; if tile had been ordered(it had not), and so forth. When our project finally got started, his tile guy did a very poor job on the area around the drain (had to redo 2x) and half of the large tiles on abutting wall surfaces had gaps of 1/4"-3/8" that had to be redone and Clint said that this was his top installer! So, our week long project dragged out to 3.5 weeks and the FINAL INSULT from Clint is that he NEVER CALLED to see if the job was done to our satisfaction much less drive to our home to inspect the final product. Bottom line: YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Take your business to another company unless you want to pay for mediocre work and an owner that is RUDE and a major PITA to work with. read more

Clint VanRossun told us his pricing was a little more than other companies because he used "craftsman". We spent $42K on a bathroom & kitchen remodel and the "craftsman" did very sloppy work. They redid the work several times but they just moved the issues. i wish I wouldn't have paid the 10% retaining prior to the job being completed but Clint was always dropping by & asking me to help him meet his payroll. Clint promised to fix all the issues but never came back & had his bookkeeper call me to get he final $1,400 which I did not pay stating the job wasn't finished, no one ever came by to finish. I wanted to wait 24 hrs before writing my review to guarantee it wasn't filled with emotion. Clint VanRossun came to my house to give me a quote to remove and replace my hardwood floors. As soon as I mentioned that we were replacing b/c of water damage and State Farm was our insurance company, Mr. VanRossun turned into the epitome of the stereo-typical Used Car Salesman. He started off by saying, "Oh, you want me to deal with SF directly, I'm a professional and all they're gonna do is dilly-dally you around". I nicely explained that I wanted to get several quotes before I decided on a contractor and I truthfully wanted to be involved throughout the process. He became so patronizing about SF "jerking" me around and "screwing me". I again nicely said that I'm sure I can handle myself. He then chuckled and shook his head. He didn't bother to measure the current floors to replace and just started jotting down numbers on a legal pad and within a few minutes circled what it's gonna cost me. Even if VanRossum had the lowest bid, I would not give them my business. He does not seem trustworthy. read more

This was work done roughly 18 months ago. Kitchen update with new tile floors and this was a big job. They did the floors and updated the kitchen sink and a counter top. While at it we replaced an older wall oven and micro for new built in style. The counter had to be matched to some granite that did not exist anymore. After many years in the same home and the wear and tear of kids, it was time to update, remodel and refresh. We also had one window with a minor leak that had ruined the sheetrock, blinds, and window sill. I was concerned about mold issues if nothing was done soon. We had never hired anyone for remodeling but had heard many terrible stories about unfinished jobs and unscrupulous contractors. I contacted several co-workers who I personally knew that had work done on their homes thinking I could get a good referral. Wrong! It was the same horror stories and they could not give me a recommendation. I started researching on my own and thank goodness we found VanRossun Contracting. No one answered their phone when I called. I thought "uh-oh here we go!". I sent an email posted on their website thinking it would be a week, if then, that I would ever hear from them. However I received a phone call from them five or ten minutes later. The woman (Abby) was actually attentive, courteous and set up an appointment just a couple of days later. The owner,Clint, actually showed up and on time! He was very knowledgeable (about the window) and understood our concern. He listened to us. He made appropriate suggestions when we asked and he understood what we wanted. Weeks prior to the start of the work, Isabel was assigned as project manager. She always answered our phone calls and many questions. We were very nervous and anxious. We had already been looking and had picked out the flooring we wanted. We thought that that might be a problem, however we got everything we wanted. They did some remodeling in the kitchen (granite countertops, sink, and carpentry work), added and upgraded our lighting, replaced all existing flooring, removed wallpaper, matched existing texturing in two rooms, and repainted the entire inside of our house. VanRossun started the work on the day and time they said they would. Their workers were always on time. Isabel visited while the work was in-progress and continually answered our questions. She kept us informed every day as to what work would be done the following day. She paid attention to details and noticed things that we didn't. The work was redone to her satisfaction and not just ours. The quality of work was first class. High quality paint was used. They didn't cut corners. Their actual employees were used for all the painting sheetrock repairs, etc. and they were friendly and professional. Clint and Isabel treat them as family also which is why they do quality work. Some work was subbed out. A bookcase was made to match an existing cabinet where a built-in desk had been torn out. It was stained to match and it turned out beautifully. The plumber was a sub and he was good. The only hang-up in the entire project was when the tile got stalled for two days in the Dallas ice storm. This threw off the timeline for everything else and the entire project took two or three days longer than originally planned. Isabel adapted, took it in stride, and even talked to us on weekends. Our home is brand new now. It is beautiful and we are so proud of it. Everyone who has seen it is amazed. Our next door neighbor needed work and was so impressed that they hired VanRossun also. We have also hired VanRossun to come back and replace some of our old inefficient windows with some good ones. I highly recommend VanRossun. You may find someone else to do it cheaper but if you want it done right with outstanding quality and excellent customer service, look no further than VanRossun. read more

We hired VanRossun contracting to build us a new home office, and to convert our old office into a standard bedroom with closet. We also had them install a series of canned lights for the hallway. The new office involved raising walls and glass French doors, new AC duct, electrical wiring, dimmer and ceiling fan. The new bedroom entailed converting wide double doors to a single standard door, building a closet in the room and all the electrical wiring that goes with it. They also painted all the relevant walls. We are extremely pleased with the results. We keep receiving compliments from all our visitors that the renovation is so natural, as if the house was built this way originally. Nik and the team were very professional and worked quite efficiently. They were patient and generous with our requests and last minute changes, and they completed everything in just over 4 days. We have hired Clint Van Rossun for the 3rd time. The first was to install Andersen Windows & Doors on the entire home. The second time was to install a custom door and side light at the front entry. The 3rd was take out a claw foot bath tub and install a new tub with full tile surround. I have never been disappointed with any of Clint's crews. They are all professional, speak good English and keep the site clean. Even the caulking joints are perfect. I am a sticker for perfection and hate hiring sub par contractors who promise the moon and deliver misery. What Clint promises, he delivers - for the 3rd time. If you are trying to save $$, DON'T. You get what you pay for. Clint will be the most expensive, but he is the BEST. I tried to save $$ before I met Clint and it cost me $4800. This job should have been bid at the max at $30K, their bid was $114K. They did not even come by and give me the bid personally. They sent it as a email take it or leave it bid. I left it. Steer as clear of this company as you can! I used them at the recommendation of some friends. When I had such a horrible experience I went back to them. Apparently it was the owners son,Nick, who is the only one who knows how to give good customer service. And even he has quit the company. The owner, Clint, is extremely unorganized and makes promises he has no intention of keeping. Doubt he even remembers making them. He surely never conveyed those promises to the multiple project managers that came and promptly left. Apparently his reputation proceeds him in the subcontractor field if the quality of the subs he has is anything to go by. The granite folks they worked with left huge seams in the granite and used epoxy to glue together the pieces they cracked. In the kitchen there was an approx 1/16" differnce in height between the two pieces they were fitting together. When I questioned it, I was told "lady it is a seam, what do you expect?" The cabinet maker walked off the job and handed them the rest of the wood and said finish it yourself. The windows in the doors were hung upside down and one door broke before they were ever finished with the job (which was several weeks late) and was replaced with a totally different style door. When asked, the project manager said that was all he could find so I would have to live with it. Each day came with a new surprise of something they needed answers on immediately that I was not made aware of. Such as paint colors, wood stains, etc. The day they were to install the kitchen sinks I was aksed where they were. When I told the latest PM that they were to provide bisquit colored composite sinks as that is what we had discussed in the contract I was told they had budgeted $250 dollars for the sink so I needed to go find my own composite sink and pay any differences in price. When I asked for a sample of the stain on the wood to make sure it would match the granite we chose (which we again were told to go find on our own but that we would be charged any overage in cost from what they budgeted although we were never given a budget sheet) I was told nobody does that but they would "try" to get a sample. Walked in to find the cabinets already stained and when I asked why I wasn't given a sample of the stain on the wood they pointed to a piece of wood on the ground and said there it is. Clint even tried to get my father to do some of the work as "they were so short on labor". If you are so desperate that you just need someone, my advice would be to write out VERY SPECIFICALLY each thing you want done and to what specifications and then make Clint sign it. And resign yourself to shoddy work and having to micromanage the job. read more

I had a master bath shower remodel, house staining, deck staining, and railing painted as well as welding repair and replacement on steps for the deck. All of the work done by his crews was top notch. The crews were very polite, competent, and took great steps to protect and keep clean the surrounding areas. We were traveling a lot during the remodel and they worked with us on coordinating the work to accommodate our travel schedule without hesitation. One thing that stands out to me is that a month after the work was completed, I noticed an area where the stain needed to be touched up on one wall. I called Clint and told him and he said no problem, they would take care of it. He did. His crew came out for the small touch up and did the work. Most contractors I have used before leave and never come back, sometimes before they are even complete with the job. We have used VanRossun Contracting multiple times over the past few years. Whether for a full kitchen remodel, bar renovations, installation of custom doors, new travertine floors, painting or wall decor we have always been pleased with the quality of the craftsmanship of the work. If ever something seemed a bit off, Clint was quick to address and always left us with nothing but a satisfied experience and outcome. Unlike other contractors, we found VanRossun able to handle any task we threw out them. On multiple occasions we have requested custom builds from cabinetry to custom kitchen islands where the custom wood work had to match perfectly existing custom elements. We found VanRossun extremely capable of delivering such high quality work and greatly appreciated having a contractor who managed everything from design, fabrication, material procurement and installation. These guys are real jerks. Based on Bob Cole and KOKE I called these guys to set up an appointment to get an estimate for work I needed done to complete a house I was building. I was prepared to pay $30K to $40K which consisted of installation of 3 French Door, Interior Trim, and Hardwood Floors. I called and talk to a young lady who took my information. She said one moment while I confirm we cover the area where my house is located. She put me on hold and eventually came back and said yes they would be glad to come out and give me an estimate. We set the appointment for 3:30 PM 4/9. On 4/8 VanRossun called me and re-confirmed the appointment for 3:30 PM 4/9. I took off work the afternoon of 4/9. At home waiting on VanRossun arrival I got a call from Clay Vanrossun at 1:30 PM saying they weren't interested and my area was outside their area of coverage. The guy was rude and said he had to go and hung up. Never again will I recommend these guys or take a KOKE recommendation. I will go out of my way to discourage anyone using these guys. Totally bad customer experience. I'm sorry there's nothing less than a 1 star I can give these guys. Guess I'm lucky I didn't get these guys as a Contactor. read more
